The Emancipation of Rudania

Link moves in to free Divine Beast Vah Rudania from Calamity Ganon.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Badass: Fireblight Ganon is faster and stronger with some extra powers to control beams of fire and the power to cause a giant explosion that covers the entire Divine Beast.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Fireblight Ganon has tactics that it didn't express in the game. For example, it preoccupies Cerako to keep her from helping Link by firing a beam of fire at her to force her to defend herself.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Daruk calls Link "little guy" even 100 years later.
  • Attack Drone: Rudania releases sentries to keep an eye on its surroundings. If they spot anything, Rudania would unleash magma bombs from Death Mountain. Cerako takes care of them.
  • Blackout Basement: The interior of Rudania is completely pitch black, enough that they could only see the glowing Meat Moss of Malice and the blue Sheikah flames around the area until Link gets the map of the Divine Beast.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Fireblight Ganon doesn't bother with extravagant moves. When Link has damaged it too much for its liking, it just tries to use a vicious explosion to kill him and Cerako. When it doesn't work the first time, it tries again.
  • Escort Mission: Link has to escort Yunobo to the various cannons across Death Mountain to drive Rudania back.
  • Eye Scream: Link impales Fireblight Ganon's eye, which makes it turn red.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: Cerako joins the fight against a Divine Beast for once, and this time Link is doing most of the heavy lifting while the New Champion is more or less being escorted by Link.
  • Having a Blast: Fireblight Ganon uses its suction attack to suck in heat and air from all around it to concentrate it in a massive explosion attack that would have killed Link had he not gotten out of the way with Revali's Gale.
  • In the Blood: Link realizes that Yunobo and Daruk have the same energetic character about them, only that Yunobo is more timid.
  • It Can Think: Fireblight Ganon expresses tactics during its fight with Link, far more than in any prior blight. It tries to make sure that Cerako can't help Link, and afterwards shields itself and staying out of range of Link and uses a simple explosion to get rid of him.
  • Made of Iron: Fireblight Ganon is noticeably more durable than the others, which Link notes may be because it was designed to reflect the extremely durable Daruk. It even survives the Ending Blow!
  • Magma Man: Fireblight Ganon's final attack against Link is to gather the magma around Death Mountain and gather it into a huge ball to launch and Link and Cerako, who freeze it with Stasis and strike it so that it flies back into the blight.
  • Treasure Hunt Episode: Cerako extensively helps Link find treasures throughout Divine Beast Vah Rudania.
