Traumas of a Survivor

Link learns what Paya went through to become a warrior, and his constant ally becomes even more powerful.

Tropes:

  • Big Brother Instinct: Link is furious when he learns of what the sweet innocent Paya went through to train to become a fighter.
  • Break the Cutie: Paya went through this during her Training from Hell. Sheik says it's not something they like to do, but it filters out those who don't have the stomach or will to truly live the life of a warrior.
  • Call-Back: Dorian warns Link that he can't overexert himself, and he can't be reckless in assuming he can't be beat, just like Zelda did.
  • Came Back Strong: Purah and Robbie took Terrako, Cerako, and Argiko to their lab, to upgrade them...or in Purah's own words, unlock some other powers that were broken within them. Some of Cerako's new abilities are using an Ancient Battle Axe ++, a Guardian Spear ++, a Guardian Sword ++, and a unique Guardian Shield that was large and circular.
  • Evil Is Petty: As Dorian says, the Yiga are as vengeful as they are petty.
  • A Form You Are Comfortable With: The souls of the Sheikah ancestors adopt the form of Sheik which makes it easy for them to communicate with people.
  • Many Spirits Inside of One: Sheik is not an actual person, but a form that the Sheikah spirits adopt to communicate in a way that people can understand.
  • Oh, Crap!: Dorian is horrified to learn that Link destroyed the Yiga Clan Hideout. Because the only thing that will do is make them angrier.
  • Revenge Myopia: The Yiga are hunting Link to get revenge for Master Kohga's death, forgetting that they've murdered far more people far more violently for far longer.
  • Training from Hell: Paya has gone through this in the spirit realm, where she learned not just how to fight, but some of the trauma that comes with fighting, including being unable to save the people she loves and being the survivor.
  • Year Inside, Hour Outside: In the spirit realm, hours or even days can pass and at most, a few minutes pass in the real world. This is why Paya was able to learn so much so fast.
