The Unbridling of Medoh

Link works to free Divine Beast Vah Medoh from Calamity Ganon's control.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Medoh does a lot more to fight back against Link and Teba, including most notably an incredibly fast aileron roll to try and get them off of it.
    • Windblight Ganon's drone attack isn't just a redirect, it's an amplifier that creates a viciously powerful beam that nearly overwhelms Link.
  • Adaptational Explanation: There's no indication of where Medoh's cannons come from. This story adds a little area that serves as a factory that produces the cannons.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Revali is a little more jovial and kind to Link in this story, willing to engage in some Lampshade Hanging snark about the interior design of not just Medoh but the Divine Beasts in general.
  • Attack Drone: Windblight Ganon uses these after Link wounds it, and they amplify his beams to become a much more powerful beam that Link struggles to protect himself against.
  • Blow You Away: Windblight Ganon's answer to Revali's Gale is creating tornados on the surface of Medoh.
  • Deflector Shields: Medoh has one that's produced by its cannons. Only one is needed to create the shield, and it's completely impenetrable. The only way to disable the shield is to destroy all the cannons before Medoh can produce more.
  • Energy Absorption: Link uses the Daybreaker Bracelets to absorb a huge laser attack from Windblight Ganon.
  • Game-Breaking Injury: Teba gets injured during the fight with Medoh, and thus is unable to go into Medoh with him. Link offers to heal him, but he sees this as a sign that he'll only end up getting in Link's way.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Cerako hijacks one of Windblight Ganon's attack drones and redirects the powerful beam right back at the creature, giving Link an opening to vanquish it.
  • I Will Only Slow You Down: Link says he can heal Teba's injury, but Teba decides that Link's skill is far superior to his own, and he decides not to go with him since he believes that he'd only get in the way.
  • Lampshade Hanging: The very weird structure inside of Medoh, and the other Divine Beasts, is such that Link now is just annoyed. He even is annoyed that Medoh tilts so slowly. Revali agrees with him.
  • Oh, Crap!: Windblight Ganon expresses shock when Link survives its powerful beam attack.
  • Open Secret: Revali pokes fun at Link and Zelda doing a horrible job of keeping their relationship on the down-low.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Revali wishes Link good luck in Medoh, and later says that he never lost faith that Zelda would awaken her sealing power.
    • When Link uses Urbosa's Daybreaker Bracelets, Revali's comment makes it clear just how much he genuinely respects her. There's not even any sarcasm in his voice when he says as much.
  • Power Tattoo: Link gets his fourth one, this time a tattoo of Medoh on his neck.
  • Pungeon Master: Revali's dialogue is littered with some bird-related puns.
  • Screaming Warrior: Link screams as he makes the final strike on Windblight Ganon.
  • Spell Blade: Link uses his Master Sword to channel Urbosa's Fury, and the power stored within the Daybreaker Bracelets to lay the fatal strike on Windblight Ganon.
  • Take Up My Sword: Revali gifts Link with his powers over wind, Revali's Gale.
  • Teleport Spam: Windblight Ganon repeatedly warps around the Divine Beast arena to throw off Link.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: While Revali is a bit abrasive to Link, he still cares about Link enough that he's horrified when it looks like he fell off Medoh.
