Odd Friendship / Fan Works

Go To

Crossover

  • Emerald and Luna end up striking a friendship in Chapter 42 of BlazBlue Alternative: Remnant after catching each other pickpocketing the other. Emerald even steals money to buy Luna a Scroll so they can keep in touch.
  • You'd think an angry, sociopathic demon and a sweet, empathetic half-Gem wouldn't mix. But A Triangle in the Stars brings them together.
  • Fantasy of Utter Ridiculousness: Reisen and Kiva. Reisen has no real fondness for humans as a species, while Kiva has much bigger things to be concerned with. As Reisen notes after meeting her, though, their respective backgrounds as soldiers had a fair number of similarities; that and Kiva's ability to show respect where her companions couldn't made it easy for the two of them to get along.
  • Hell's Boiling Point: Camila ends up becoming surprisingly close to Hellboy, appreciating the demon hunter's efforts to make her acclimation to the supernatural world as smooth as it can possibly be under the rough circumstances.
  • In I'm a Marvel... And I'm a DC, take the Rorshach and Deadpool examples from under Comic Books. Seriously. They even got their own web series.
  • Infinity Train: Boiling Point takes Skara's and Boscha's friendship in The Owl House canon and makes it even weirder. Namely, by turning Boscha into a Person of Mass Destruction Pyromaniac and Skara into a half-Griffin witch who's eventually revealed to be the princess of the Boiling Underworld.
  • By the end of Influenced Out of Normality, Xander's actually good friends with Angel, whom he initially hated. He even notes how odd it was that they became friends.
  • In Steven Universe: and the Hunters of Arcadia, Blinky and Pearl hit it off rather quickly. The two of them being immortal by nature, they both bond over a mutual knowledge of history, not knowing that both of them have lived history.
  • Lighting Candles: Tadashi is a newly dead kitsune who can generate fire and is still trying to accept his death and the fact that his family and friends can no longer see him. Jack Frost has finally gotten a handle on being a Guardian, can shoot ice from his hands, and finally has believers. The two clash at first, but eventually bond over the fact that they're both older brothers and form a surprisingly strong friendship.
  • The Last Seidr: The Sorting Hat (a magical, sentient, incredibly wise hat that can hold anything) and J.A.R.V.I.S. (an incredibly smart, occasionally snarky A.I. designed by Tony) develop this relationship after Tony gets them to start playing Wizard's Chess together. Harry believes they are evenly matched.
  • The Dragon and the Butterfly: Who would've thought that the only non-magical Madrigal daughter and a recently-exiled, dragon-riding Viking would develop such a strong friendship? That eventually forms into a relationship.
  • The Many Dates of Danny Fenton: Both the sequel story and its multiple spin-offs feature heroic Nice Guy Danny Phantom becoming friends with the insane mercenary Deadpool, much to the ire of the girls Danny chooses as his girlfriend.
  • Captain August Gallardi forms one with Eldar Farseer Maeteris in the Mass Effect/Warhammer 40,000 fic The Mission Stays the Same. Normally, they should hate each other, but they are the closest thing to normality they have once they arrive in the Mass Effect universe.
  • In The Morning Mist comes to Remnant (a Naruto and RWBY crossover):
    • The Genki Girl and heroic Ruby Rose ends up befriending the former Akatsuki members Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki. Itachi is a stoic and thoughtful former Konoha shinobi who was forced to kill his own clan and Kisame is a Blood Knight and former Kiri shinobi who had to kill his own comrades for the sake of his village. While Ruby is Locked Out of the Loop regarding Itachi and Kisame's Dark and Troubled Pasts, she's aware that they had it rough and have no problem killing if needed unlike her. Despite that, she genuinely gets along very well with them.
    • Ruby later befriends the former human-hating Faunus terrorist Adam Taurus. They frequently train with each other and end up being Vitriolic Best Buds.
    • Itachi and Kisame's bond hasn't changed in spite of their differences. See the Anime & Manga section of this trope for details.
  • Raven Branwen and Kali Belladonna in The RWBY Loops certainly qualify. One is a no-nonsense Social Darwinist bandit queen, the other is a former civil rights protester and civilian. Nonetheless, they do appear to care for each other; it helps that they saved each other's lives during a near-apocalypse.
  • This Crossover one-shot that has Nagito Komaeda befriending SCP-999. Bonus points for Nagito being a Remnant Of Despair when this takes place but also justified given 999’s All-Loving Hero status and Nagito’s desire to BE loved.
  • Subverted in The Mountain and the Wolf: The Wolf is friendly towards Tyrion and Tyrion alone, referring to him as Shield-slayer for what he views as Tyrion's greatest feat (killing a downed man with a shield in desperation), deeming him the best drinker in all Daenerys' court and making zero height jokes. Tyrion, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with such a crass, oafish brute with no sense of morals and an even worse sense of humor, and it's almost a relief to him when the Wolf becomes an avowed enemy and they can deal with him openly... but he's still as overbearingly jovial towards Tyrion.
  • "Shaking the Cycle" sees Dawn Thrace- Dawn Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) dimensionally relocated to Caprica as the sister of Kara Thrace (Battlestar Galactica (2003))- forms a surprising bond with the version of Sharon that seduced Helo on Caprica, despite Dawn having spent months living on a planet under Cylon occupation. The two become so friendly that Kara finds herself trusting Sharon to keep Dawn safe, and Sharon even asks that Dawn tell her nothing she wants kept secret because Sharon doesn't want to accidentally share such details with the other Cylons if she ends up downloading.
  • Universe Falls: Grunkle Stan doesn't get along with the Crystal Gems, but he usually makes an exception for Amethyst. The two have a surprising amount in common, like a mischievous streak and struggles with feeling inadequate.
  • In Yin-Yang, despite the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull and Shadow Weaver being on opposite ends of the spectrum, they end up getting along swimmingly due to sharing knowledge of their worlds and sympathizing with each other over the annoyances they have to deal with.
  • Infinity Train: Knight of the Orange Lily: It takes a while to get there, but Specter finds himself having the closest bond to Paul London. The former is a former cyber-terrorist who has fun breaking people down mentally, the latter is a pro-wrestler who once killed people under the guidance of the White Rabbit.
  • The Ultimate Big Brother: The stoic, gargantuan, Face of a Thug, and serious Charlotte Katakuri forms a surprising friendship with Aoi Asahina, a bubbly, friendly, kind-hearted, and social young girl. The two bond over their Trademark Favorite Food of doughnuts, and when Asahina admits to worrying that she's weak because she's scared of what happened to her little brother, Katakuri, having his own Big Brother Instinct to both his biological siblings and the class as a whole, tells her that as long as she doesn't let that worry twist her into doing something she'd normally never do, she's not weak in his eyes.

Danganronpa

  • Despair's Last Resort has two of these. Chiyo Ueda, a polite and refined girl who can speak to the dead, and Kumiko Akamine, a hyperactive gamer who makes webcomics, have been friends since they were kids. Then there's Shizuka Matsuki, a kind painter who wants to get along with everyone, and Kazumi Katsuya, a punk rock singer with an attitude.
  • So a Fanfic Creator, a Gambler, and a Pop Sensation is what it says on the tin, with Celeste, Hifumi, and Sayaka starting a friendship over their love of manga.

Danny Phantom

Digimon

  • In Zero 2: A Revision, having traits of odd friendships is apparently a genetic trait from the Kidos, best shown with Joe's father Joshua Kido, the stern and stoic father, and is also one of the Original Digidestined ended up having Demidevimon, the same troublemaker Digimon that harasses the Digidestined in the first season as his own partner. Gatomon, once working alongside him, will never live this fact down.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

  • The co-Inquisitors in the series Twice Upon an Age are about as different as it's possible to be — different races, religions, fighting styles, and personalities. They are nevertheless Like Brother and Sister and would do just about anything for each other, up to and including a Heroic Sacrifice.

Hetalia: Axis Powers

  • Gankona, Unnachgiebig, Unità: The former Axis Trio is consisted of people with vastly different personalities; Germany is tough and harsh, Italy is carefree and energetic, and Japan is cold and calculating. They are still pretty close.

Hey Arnold!

  • After the Jungle Series: Despite how they treated each other in elementary school, Rhonda and Helga start becoming friends in middle school and are shown to be close friends as adults (Rhonda was even one of Helga's bridesmaids at her and Arnold's wedding).

The Hunger Games

Invader Zim

  • For the Glory of Irk: Aside from Dib and Zim having gone from archenemies to friends over the years (albeit of the vitriolic type), Gaz and CB somehow become gaming buddies.
  • Season 2 of The New Adventures of Invader Zim has Gaz striking up a friendship with Zim's new Psycho Supporter Nyx, over a shared love of games and cruelty towards others. Given Gaz's general apathy and misanthropy, everyone is shocked and disturbed by her actually making a friend.

Kill la Kill

  • True to canon, in some regards to Mako and Ryuko's friendship in Fragile Thread, however, until about the end of the story, as the former dies.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

  • In the Second Chances series, Tony Stark and Loki end up bonding over always being compared to someone else (Captain America and Thor respectively) and being unable to measure up despite being vastly superior in other, arguably more useful, ways (technology and magic). Furthermore, both were outcasts of their groups (Avengers and Asgard), seemingly unloved by their fathers, and had loving mothers who were brutally murdered.

Mass Effect

  • The plots of fanfics Tomorrow's Dawn and For Tomorrow We Die stem from a friendship that develops between Quarian Tali'Zorah and Legion, a physical representative of an AI hive mind that nearly wiped out Tali's people.

My Hero Academia

  • In Fear No Evil, Aizawa and All for One bond over mocking All Might’s costume. Aizawa later comes to regret this, but All for One’s friendship is impossible to get rid of.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

  • A Diplomatic Visit: For all her hormone-driven crankiness, Queen Scolopidia somehow ends up in one with Rarity, who even manages to give her a makeover.
  • The friendship between Navarone and Celestia in Diaries of a Madman is very strange. Not just due to the differences in social standing (an average Deadpan Snarker human and pony princess respectively), but due to the way their goals end up conflicting and his tendency to end up as her pawn, even the definition of friendship you'd use for all this would be unusual.
  • Mirror's Image: Luna and Amethyst, the last Queen of the Changelings were sort of friends, even though Amethyst threatened to turn Luna into a Changeling constantly (which given Luna's then lousy mood probably wouldn't have worked). When Amethyst confronts Celestia on a separate matter in a flashback, she takes a moment to call Celestia out on her mis-treatment of her sister.
  • In The Apprentice, the Student, and the Charlatan, in the epilogue, Large Ham Narcissist Trixie hits it off with subtle Deadpan Snarker Aegis. By the time the sequel rolls around, they've apparently become a couple.
  • TD and Celestia's friendship (and eventual romance) in TD the Alicorn Princess. This being after Celestia accidentally traps him in Equestria, and after numerous instances of the two punching the other in the face.
  • The Palaververse: Between Goldtorc, the queen of the cattle, and the mammoth Barbarian Hero Lyuba. The two initially come to respect each other after an initial clash of personalities and Badass Boasts on first meeting, and further bond during their attempt to fight their way through a changeling-occupied Canterlot Castle and over-sharing some of their own private troubles with each other.
  • The Vinyl Scratch Tapes revolves around bombastic and lax Vinyl Scratch trying to run a radio station with the proper and refined Octavia. Hilarity Ensues, but they do go on to become spectacularly-close friends.

Naruto

  • Kitsune no Ken: Fist of the Fox has three examples to date:
    • Naruto and Shino. Naruto is a former member of the dreaded Kyuushingai, boisterous at times, and having something of a temper; Shino is much more reserved and has his trademark bug fixation. However, they bond over comic books.
    • Hinata and Sasuke. Ignoring the fact that their canon counterparts have had almost no direct interaction with each other, in this story their fathers are fierce business rivals, plus Hinata herself is Spoiled Sweet and Sasuke is a Jerk with a Heart of Gold on a good day. Despite this, Hinata's one of the few people Sasuke's actually pretty civil toward.
    • Suigetsu and Jugo, to a lesser extent. While their being friends makes sense since they're teammates in the original canon, Suigetsu's loud, hot-tempered, and an opportunist when it comes to making a quick buck; Jugo is polite, friendly, and much more even-tempered. It helps that both of them used to be in a gang together.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

  • Evangelion 303: Asuka and Hikari are a combat unit. Asuka is abrassive, proud, hot-tempered, emotional and confrontational. Hikari is kind, tranquil, rational and understanding. Still they are two good friends and fight together.
  • HERZ: After twelve years Asuka and Hikari are still best friends although their personalities (Asuka is aggressive and pushing, Hikari calmer and more patient) and even their career choices (Asuka is an army commanding officer, Hikari a political analyst) are pretty different.

RWBY

She-Ra: Princess of Power

  • One of these began to develop between the Loo-Kee and Imp in Kidnapped despite the two of them being on opposite sides of a Rebellion.

Sonic the Hedgehog

  • Speed and Purpose: Johnny Lightfoot and Sonic are Childhood Friends. They're also completely different. Sonic is a jumpy, messy person who won't hold his tongue while Johnny is mild-mannered and well-groomed.

Star Trek Online

  • Bait and Switch (STO): The author's notes for chapter 9 say this of supporting characters Admiral Amnell Kree and her flag captain Bronok Zell. The former is a hard-bitten, no-nonsense Dominion War veteran, whereas the latter is a Cardassian immigrant who takes very little completely seriously. The funny thing is, she requested him.

The Hunger Games

  • The Victors Project: Ahenobarbus and Gates. Ahenobarbus (a brutal career leader) considered Gates (a Gadgeteer Genius and revel) to be the most brilliant Victor and was greatly offended by the Capitol's Post-Game Retaliation against him. He even sat in the hospital with Gates after he had a stroke and was there when he woke up.
  • These Are The Names has the 70th Hunger Games turn out this way when, due to several of the Tribute trains coming under attack and being delayed, various tributes from Districts which don't normally interact end up spending a while at a station together, unsure if further attacks will come. As a result, once the Games start, the District 2 tributes let the Boy from 12 into their alliance and The District 4 kids ally with the girl from 12, the girl from 5 and the two tributes from 10.

The Smurfs

  • Empath Smurf and Polaris Psyche in Empath: The Luckiest Smurf. The only things they have in common with each other is that they're both telepaths and they have both lived in Psychelia. Otherwise, Empath comes from a race that the Psyches see as "savage".
    • Empath and Grouchy, with Empath being emotionless in his early years and Grouchy just being a grouch.
    • And there's Grouchy with the more personable and talkative Tapper, as well as Grouchy and Duncan McSmurf.

A Song of Ice and Fire

  • The King Nobody Wanted:
    • Despite the ancient enmity between their houses, Garth Tyrell hits it off wonderfully with Oberyn Martell and his Dornish companions over a shared love of political intrigue and the finer points of poisoning, although that doesn't stop them from keeping their eyes and ears open around each other.
    • Everyone is surprised when Tyrion, a dwarf and a Lannister, befriends the ironborn brothers Aeron and Urrigon Greyjoy.
    • Aeron Greyjoy, a follower of the Drowned God who takes pride in his mother's witchcraft, gets on quite well with Jayne Bracken, a pious follower of the Seven raised to fear the ironborn, partly because he sympathizes with her over being bullied by an older sibling.
    • Marya Seaworth, a carpenter's daughter and wife of a smuggler-turned-knight, strikes up a friendship with Gwyndolyn Chelsted, a once-Impoverished Patrician of ancient lineage.

Star Wars

Total Drama

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Heather: Cody and Sam are the only relatively normal guys in a group that includes a giantess, a mutated girl, a former-mutated guy, a girl who Speaks Fluent Animal, and Izzy.
  • Candy for Your Thoughts?
    • Bridgette and Duncan develop one towards the end, as Bridgette sympathizes with Duncan over the guilt of cheating on their significant other during the season.
    • Courtney and Ezekiel form one, as Courtney spends time in the cargo hold with only the feral Ezekiel as company while she grieves over Duncan's infidelity.
    • Noah and Owen carry this on from canon, especially during the Niagara Falls challenge.
  • Cast Swap: Narcissistic wannabe TV host Topher and shy Gentle Giant farmboy Rodney develop one as Topher gives relationship advice to Rodney.
  • Dreams Scented of Coconut and Apple: Cody and Lindsay have little in common, but become close friends, and later a couple. Lindsay’s compassion for Cody and Cody’s eagerness to go to any lengths to help the blonde bombshell is the primary reasons for this.
  • For Want of a Mohawk: In addition to his canon friendship with Owen, Noah also forms this sort of relationship with Katie and Sadie with the pair continuing to impress him with the Hidden Depths they display throughout the competition. This evolves into outright Ship Tease with the former following Sadie's elimination and the pair eventually become an Official Couple during "Hide and Be Sneaky."
  • The Legend of Total Drama Island
    • The socially awkward Beth and the manic, arguably psychotic Izzy bond during the talent show challenge when they discover that they share a talent for twirling fire batons and subsequently perform together. (“Twice the fire, twice the fun” as Izzy puts it.) After that, it’s not long before Izzy offers Beth an alliance.
    • When the ambitious and driven Courtney takes it upon herself to re-educate country bumpkin Ezekiel to be acceptable to polite society, she perforce spends a good deal of time with him and quickly discovers that he has his share of admirable qualities, not least of which is a willingness to learn. During the camping challenge, Courtney all but tells Ezekiel that she has come to consider him a friend.
Ezekiel: I just realized that we’ve been spending most of this game doing favors for each other, eh?
Courtney: That’s how people get to be friends. That’s how alliances are born.
  • Love Ain't Easy, It's Ezzy: Bridgette started off really disliking Ezekiel, but ends up being one of his closest friends throughout the story.
  • In fanfic Lunch Date with a Goth, an Indie Chick, and a Wide-Eyed Bubble Boy while they have very little in common, Gwen, Cameron and Zoey are shown to become friends quite quickly.
  • My Ridonculous Race: One forms between the 20 something, SF Bay Area teams of Sam/May and Fabian/Jordan and suburban Canadian father/son team of Dwayne and Junior.
  • Random Drama Series
    • Kitsune and Alejandro; after being forced to ally to stay in the game, the two become good friends.
    • Heather and Shawn: although they initially tolerated one another due to their alliance, they come to see each other as friends.
    • Bridgette and Lightning; due to the latter swapping teams and knowing he'd be the next one sent home, Bridgette promises to prevent that. They end up becoming close friends and bond over their respective crushes on Angel and Lily.
    • Dave and Geoff after the latter helps the former hook up with Britney, with Dave coming to see Geoff as his best friend.
    • Owen and Contessa.
  • Reality Collides: The Ezekiel Chronicles: Really, everyone in the Killer Bass has their own quirks and some of them are as different as night and day compared to each other. Yet, with Ezekiel's guidance, they became a formidable and close-knit team on the show.
  • TDWT Reducks Redux
    • Sardonic bookworm Noah and Big Fun optimist Owen, as per canon, although it's even more emphasized than it was in the canon season.
    • Kindhearted Brainless Beauty Lindsay and sadistic Scary Black Man Chef develop one as Chef guides Lindsay in running the show.
    • Naive homeschooled farmboy Ezekiel and Ax-Crazy Manic Pixie Dream Girl Izzy too, thanks to the two being on Team Chris together this time.
    • Granola Girl surfer Bridgette and Stereotypical Nerd Harold as well, largely over their mutual dislike of their teammate Duncan (who returns the enmity).
  • Total Alternate Island
    • Snarky Gwen and dimwitted Lindsay.
    • Develops later between longtime enemies Gwen and Heather, who have little in common beyond their experiences on the show.
  • Total Drama Action: All-In: Naive homeschooled farmboy Ezekiel and street-smart ghetto girl Leshawna develop one.
  • Total Drama All-Stars: Remake
    • Delinquent jerk with the heart of gold, Duncan with nice but insecure indie chick, Zoey.
    • Mature and good-hearted Aura Whisperer, Dawn with sugar-adicted and emotional hyper fangirl, Sierra.
  • Total Drama All-Stars Rewrite: Owen and Noah carry this on from canon, with the addition of Dawn (and to a lesser extent, Brick) to their group. Subverted with Owen's later friendship with Scott, where it turns out the two have a lot more in common than they initially realized.
  • Total Drama Chris: Lindsay became best friends with Courtney and Heather, of all people.
  • Total Drama Comeback Series: Eva became friends with Bridgette, Beth, and DJ, arguably three of the nicest, nonviolent characters of TD.
  • Total Drama Generations
    • Duncan and Beardo have nearly nothing in common, and Duncan outright didn't want him on Team Nuclear initially. Over time however, the two become good friends, Duncan even putting his repaired friendship with Gwen in jeopardy in order to save Beardo from elimination.
    • The merge shows how, despite their vastly different personalities, Lightning is good friends with Dawn the latter helping Lightning out through his emotional troubles and assisting him in challenges even when there's nothing to gain from it.
  • Total Drama Island: A New Beginning: Noah and Owen's friendship from canon occurs here, but much earlier this time and with Cody included as a core member of the group.
  • Total Drama Legacy
  • Total Drama Letteredo: Between Kim and Tabitha, probably the last people anyone expected to be friends with one another.
  • Total Drama Ocean
    • Geoff and Noah form one over the course of the season.
    • Staci develops one with Gwen and Bridgette early on.
    • Due to the giant Sadie-shaped hole in her heart, Katie turns to Scott as a substitute. Initially, the friendship is one-sided, with Scott manipulating Katie's dependency for a friend to use her as a pawn, but he ultimately warms up to her.
  • Total Drama Quarantine: Leonard and Lindsay develop one.
  • Total Drama: Superstar Showdown: Wolfgang and Flora, which Wolfgang later lampshades. Wolfgang is a Defrosting Ice King Deadpan Snarker while Flora is a Nice Girl, but their friendship strengthens to the point where Flora lets Wolfgang beat her and get to the final two because he was genuinely nice to her.
  • Total Drama Switcheroo: Simone and Willow.
  • Total Drama Tokyo: Roz and Ari - Roz is eccentric, extroverted, and a Genki Girl, and Ari is shy, awkward, and the Cloudcuckoolander's Minder. Casey and Puck's relationship is this humorously.
  • Total Drama Tween Tour: Pandora and Jarvis end up befriending Lars of all people late in the premerge.
  • Total Drama Underdogs: Eva is best friends with Ezekiel and Harold, neither of whom she appears to have anything in common with.
  • Total Drama Winners: Between Jo and Sky, both athletes with leadership qualities who are there to win. However, Sky will not do anything she considers unfair or immoral, while Jo will do whatever it takes.
    • Total Drama Losers: Despite having very little in common, Brick and Sammy become extremely close and always vote as a team.
  • Total Drama Voyage: Despite participating in different teams and generations, Owen and Sky end up bonding with Sky's feelings of inadequacy compared to the other competitors resonating with Owen's own pressures he's putting on himself as leader. When the two appear together on the first Aftermath, Sky's even the one pushing Owen's wheelchair in.
  • Total Drama World Tour Express: Lindsay and Tiana in the Aftermaths of the sequel, after the events of the big finale of World Tour Express.
  • Total Exploded Pahkitew Island: Julie, the devious eavesdropper, befriends innocent, sweet Ella, who would never hurt anyone.
  • Total Shuffled Island Series
    • Tomboy Jo is friends with fangirl Sierra. They become friends in the Race for the Case, and form a small alliance when on the same team in Action.
    • Jo also forms an odd friendship with B over the course of Action, getting to the point where she doesn't need someone like Dawn to translate B's motions for her, and entrusts him with piloting her zeppelin.
    • An even odder example, Scarlett and Staci. Staci is the only one of the entire cast that talks to Scarlett like a normal person even after Scarlett's reveal.
  • Total Zeksmit Series: Courtney forms one with Beth and Lindsay. At first, it was purely for competetive reasons, however within the same chapter as the establishment Courtney takes concern when Izzy wins the final challenge by making Beth slipup and hit her head, leading the other two to assume that she was actually trying to be real friends with them in the first place. And as it turns out at the end, Courtney's okay with that and she just rolls with it.
  • Ultimate Ridonculous Race: Tyler and Leshawna form their own team despite having fairly little interaction with each other in the parent series.

Transformers

Velma

  • There's Something Wrong With Us: Despite being nominally different social standings, Fred finds Norville to be a better friend than any of his nominal relationships.

Worm

  • Here Comes The New Boss: Panacea and Elpis's first interaction involves discovering that Elpis is the Butcher, and Elpis accidentally threatening to kill Panacea's family if she tells. Panacea more or less appoints herself as Elpis' parole officer and minder, monitoring her to ensure she doesn't fly off the handle and go on a killing spree. Somehow or other, they actually end up getting along, though.
Taylor: Wait, are we friends now?
    Amy: Don't make this weird.

Young Justice (2010)

  • With This Ring: Paul is an Orange Lantern who ridicules the simplicity of typical Green Lantern constructs (like giant green boxing gloves), as well as the "bobblehead malware" limitations programmed into their rings (such as Thou Shalt Not Kill), and despite being in another universe, he's staunchly British, referring to the USA as "colonials". Guy Gardner comes from Baltimore, is loud, bombastic, and very devoted to the Green Lantern Corps, including his trainer Kilowog whom Paul has specifically called out as lacking creativity. The two of them are best buds.
