Total Drama Voyage is a Total Drama fanfic written by kirbystarwarrior.

When the previous three generations of Total Drama are invited to participate in a reunion cruise, 21 former cast members (along with three of their friends from The Ridonculous Race) decide to accept the invitation. However, upon arriving, the "reunion cruise" is soon revealed to be a trick by Chris McLean to get them to participate in the latest Total Drama season. Dividing the group into three teams captained by Owen, Duncan, and Heather, he soon has them sailing around the world participating in the usual life-threatening challenges. However, there's more than just the usual million-dollar prize on the line this time, as behind-the-scenes shenanigans have the cast finding themselves fighting for the fate of the very boat they're on...

This fanfiction contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: In "Food Disservice", Duncan mentions that one of the friends he made in prison got in there for selling his children to the mines.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In Total DramaRama, Owen was fully aware of Max's evil nature, which led Owen to be afraid of his cousin, whereas Max treated Owen as a simple lackey. Here, Owen is ecstatic to reunite with his cousin and believes that Max's attempts to be evil were simply the two of them playing games as kids, to Max's annoyance.
  • All Your Powers Combined: As a result of Mal's defeat in the All Stars finale, Mike now has full access to his former personalities' various skillsets like Svetlana's gymnastics and Manitoba's tracking abilities.
  • Always Someone Better: Sky's arc here involves her accepting that for all the training she's put into her gymnastics, there will always be people who are just as good as her naturally whether that be Mike (via Svetlana) or Zoey (via Commando Zoey).
  • Answer Cut: When Noah and Emma are reading the notes on the other competitors Owen had Sierra compile for him before his evacuation at the beginning of "Dishonor Among Thieves," Emma wonders how Owen could have gotten such detailed notes on the others. Noah's eyes widen in realization as we then cut to him in the confessional giving the answer before cutting to Sierra pestering Mike:
Noah (confessional): From a certain superfan.
  • Armor-Piercing Question:
    • During the Captain challenge at the beginning of "When In Rome", Noah is in danger of losing and so starts trying to throw Duncan and Alejandro off their game. Most of his questions don't work, but one not only gets under Duncan's skin enough to cause him to lose the challenge, but gets under Gwen's as well.
Noah: Well, it's just that I heard rumors that you and Gwen were seeing each other again! Is that true!?
    • Later in that same chapter, after Duncan confronts Mike about being off his game for most of the challenge, believing it was because Duncan and Zoey kissed for a challenge several chapters back, Mike rants that Duncan has only viewed him as a toolkit for various skills and an extension for his former personalities, Mike insisting that he's his own person. Duncan's question in response to this leaves Mike speechless.
Duncan: And how's that been working out for you?
  • Batman Gambit:
    • Used by Brick during his guest appearance in the "Dishonor Among Thieves" two-parter. When he, Amy, and Sammy are surrounded by the Killer Blades at one point, Brick orders the twins to retreat the way they just came, knowing that the Strawberry Shortcakes are coming from the other direction and counting on the fact that the two teams would be distracted dealing with each other, allowing the twins to escape with the treasure that serves as the goal of the challenge.
Brick (confessional): I remember one of the first war lessons taught to me by my father. When dealing with multiple different enemies, make them distracted by having them focus on each other. Then while they're busy dealing with each other, secure the objective from underneath their noses. That's how he won over Mom back in high school!
    • Alejandro later pulls off one of his own in "When in Rome", having Duncan carve a fake immunity idol for him, and then after the challenge, dropping it in front of Kitty while pretending not to notice she saw it. This makes Kitty believe Alejandro has the idol and that voting for him would be a waste of a vote. Alejandro then correctly predicts that Kitty will vote off B instead due to Kitty not being as close with him as she is with Harold, Alejandro using his leader vote to do the same, saving himself while also eliminating someone Alejandro deemed as a threat.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Don't imply that The Ridonculous Race counts as an official Total Drama season in Chris' presence.
    • Arséne Lupin soon becomes just as equally infuriating to the host.
    • While normally kind and easy-going, Mike doesn't take too kindly to people treating his Multiple Personality Disorder lightly, and especially hates it when people view him as the same as one of his previous alternate personalities. When Duncan compares him to Mal, Mike brutally beats him down to the point Duncan needs to be treated in the infirmary.
  • Big Sister Instinct: When Sky's sister, Luna, calls her out about how she let the game take control of her and Dave attempts to mock her for it, Luna tells him that considering he cheered when it looked like an avalanche killed her younger sister, he's very lucky she's not in the same room as him.
  • Bitch Slap: Sammy gives one to Amy at the close of the first Aftermath.
  • Brick Joke: In the first chapter, when Cody puts together that the competition is like a seafaring version of World Tour, Duncan tells Chris that if they have to sing this season, he'll throw himself overboard. Seven chapters laters in "West End Story", when Chris announces that it'll be a musical challenge, Duncan immediately declares Zoey to be the new leader of the Killer Blades, and attempts to leap off the S.S. McLean.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • For all the original first-generation contestants competing here who didn't appear in All Stars or The Ridonculous Race, they have their first major appearance since the World Tour finale (and, in the case of Trent and Justin, get to compete for the first time since Action).
    • For the Revenge of the Island cast, Dawn and B compete for the first time since their debut season.
    • Fang appears for the first time since All Stars.
    • In an example of a literal bus being brought back, after its cameo in the All Stars episode "You Regatta Be Kidding Me," the Boat of Losers returns as the elimination method for the first time since Season 1, being used to pick up eliminated contestants from the S.S. McLean.
    • The Aftermath returns for the first time since World Tour, now being hosted by Amy and Sammy, with Geoff serving as mediator.
  • The Cameo: Several of the former contestants not competing this season are brought in a few times to help out in the challenges:
    • Topher appears trying to sneak onto the S.S. McLean during the first chapter.
    • Amy and Sammy appear in "Nou Hard Feelings" serving as cheerleaders for the soccer challenge Chris has the contestants participate in during the episode. At the end of the episode, he reveals that they're also serving as hosts for the revived Aftermath and sends the newly-eliminated Geoff with them to use his previous Aftermath hosting experience to help prepare them for the role.
    • Courtney, Eva, Izzy, Katie, Sadie, Brick, Cameron, Dave, Max, and Ella appear as the Peanut Gallery in the first Aftermath.
    • Amy and Sammy return in the "Dishonor Among Thieves" two-parter acting the role of the royals the contestants need to rob as part of the episode's Robin Hood challenge, this time bringing along Brick, Jo, and Lightning to act in the role of royal guards.
    • Shawn and Jasmine appear in "No Man Is an Island" helping Chris to judge the wildlife sanctuaries the teams are building for the challenge.
    • For a non-former contestant cameo, the psycho killer with a hook from Season 1 appears in "Food Disservice" as one of the prisoners Chef brings onto the ship as diners for the episode's restaurant challenge.
  • Cassandra Truth: When the Killer Blades' key to unlocking the wildlife's shock collars in the Everglades challenge disappears halfway through only to turn up later in Cody's pocket, Zoey immediately correctly realizes Scott's reverted back to his old challenge-throwing ways. The mostly first-generation cast of the Killer Blades, however, only know Scott by his goofball All Stars personality, and so dismiss what happened as just bad luck.
  • Closet Geek: Duncan's revealed to be a secret fan of mystery stories, which according to Gwen, he's always done a bad job of hiding. His time in prison caused his secret love for the genre to grow even moreso as reading mystery books was some of the only things he could do during his free time.
  • Composite Character: Scott is presented here as a mix between his scheming Revenge characterization and his goofball All Stars one.
  • Continuity Nod: In addition to the references to past seasons, the author treats another fanfic of theirs, Aura Therapy as part of the story's continuity and makes reference to it as well.
  • Cutting Off the Branches: Owen, Duncan, Heather, Cameron, Mike, Shawn, and the Surfer Dudesnote  are all established as the official winners of their respective seasons.
  • Driving Question:
    • One during the early episodes is who Gwen's new crush is. It's revealed near the end of "Spice to Meet You" to be Duncan.
    • An even more prominent one is who the identity of the Arsène Lupin impersonator is.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Even Scott is horrified when he hears that Alejandro fed Cody to the sharks back in World Tour. Considering the fear of sharks he developed, it's understandable why Scott would feel this way.
    • The first Aftermath reveals that, despite being an unrepentant bully, even Amy found Dave's behavior in the finale of Pahkitew Island to be abhorrent. In turn, even Dave found Amy's dismissive behavior towards Sky's personal moment with her sister to be uncalled for.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • As Brick and Cameron point out on the first Aftermath, Jo and Lightning may have been Jerk Jocks in Revenge, but they never resorted to sabotage and blackmail like Scott did.
    • In the first part of "Dishonor Among Thieves", Noah found Dawn and the rest of the second generation cast laughing at Scott while he was in the trauma chair quite morally questionable.
  • Friendly Enemy: Despite Scott's intentions to get Duncan eliminated, and Duncan's own doubts about Scott's trustworthiness, the two get along with each other pretty well, especially during "No Man Is An Island". Even after Duncan finds out that Scott was sabotaging the team and votes him off, he shows that he has no hard feelings towards the dirt farmer during Scott's elimination, resulting in the two parting on good terms.
  • Gentleman Thief: Someone has adopted the identity of Arséne Lupin, the titular master thief from the real life series of stories, to torment Chris. They have already stolen one of his Gemmies as well as the $100,000 runner-up prize and have threatened to steal the S.S. McLean itself!
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Justin has this in regards to Alejandro usurping his role as "the hot bastard who manipulates others into doing his bidding." This ends up causing him to become the first contestant eliminated, as his jealousy causes him to attack Alejandro during the race back to the S.S. McLean, separating them from the rest of Team Heather and costing them the challenge.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Despite his villainous ways, Scott gradually starts to bond with the Killer Blades, even beginning to try to win challenges for the team at points. However, Alejandro, who was working together with Scott, decided that this meant he had no more use for Scott, and rats him out. This results in Scott's elimination, and him leaving on bad terms with everyone on the team except for Duncan.
  • Heel Realization: Him and Dawn offering to drive Bridgette and Leshawna back to the ship after they're eliminated in the main challenge in "Spice to Meet You" because it's the nice thing to do, even though they're on different teams, are still competing in the challenge, and Chris would've sent someone to pick up the girls anyway, causes Bridgette to realize she's been too harsh on Brody for inadvertently causing Geoff's elimination earlier in the competition.
  • I Don't Want to Ruin Our Friendship: According to Leshawna, this is why she and Harold haven't officially gotten back together despite the two of them seeing each other on-and-off in the years since World Tour ended.
Leshawna: Think about all the times people broke up on the show. Owen never talks with Izzy anymore. It took years for things to stop being awkward between Gwen and Trent. I don't even know if that Sky girl is on speaking terms anymore with the boy she was with on her season.
Harold: Technically, they never actually dated.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Despite the author of the Arséne Lupin novels, Maurice Leblanc, being dead since the 1940's, Izzy thinks he faked his death and that he's the one behind the Lupin copycat threatening Chris simply because she herself has faked her own death.
  • The Leader: At the start of the competition, Chris adds a new twist to the competition by having the original first-generation season winners made the captains of their respective teams. In addition to being responsible for assembling their teams together in the first challenge, they also get two votes during each of the elimination ceremonies.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall:
    • In "Spice to Meet You", an intoxicated Scott brings attention to the fact that everyone wears the same clothes every day, and openly wonders why everyone has Four-Fingered Hands.
    • During Team Heather's elimination ceremony at the end of "When in Rome", Chris comments that it feels like over a year since they'd last been at an elimination ceremony. Due to the lengthy time between updates, it had indeed been over a year in real-time since Team Heather's last elimination ceremony in "Food Disservice".
  • Lethal Chef: Gwen shows that she has no knowledge about cooking in "Food Disservice", making numerous mistakes when baking a cake ranging from overmixing batter, to using far too much salt and eggs, to using melted cheese as a substitute for butter, believing it would be fine because they're both dairy. Predictably, her dish is deemed by Chef to be the worst one by far.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: The first part of the challenge in "Spice to Meet You" has the contestants needing to eat increasingly spicy dishes. After Dawn manages to make it through the first several dishes with no reaction whatsoever, after drinking from a bottle of hot sauce made out of Pepper X, she calmly announces that she's dying and drops out of the challenge.
  • Mistaken for Gay: In "Dishonor Among Thieves", after Duncan chooses Mike as his opponent for the second phase of the challenge, Sierra immediately accuses him of having had a relationship with Mal in juvie as his reason for doing so. Duncan is stunned by Sierra's leap of logic.
  • Musical Episode: "West End Story" has all three teams put together their own musical numbers for the episode's challenge.
  • Mythology Gag: The first Aftermath reveals that just like in Total DramaRama, Max and Ella are cousins to Owen and Gwen, respectively.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between:
    • The three original team leaders selected by Chris. All-Loving Hero Owen is the nice, being kindhearted and positive to a fault, and is always supportive of his fellow teammates. Alpha Bitch Heather is the mean, regularly bossing around or disregarding the well being of her teammates, and when she does act nice, it's simply a ploy to manipulate them. Jerk with a Heart of Gold Duncan is the in-between, regularly dishing out rude remarks to his teammates, but will support them however he can when push comes to shove.
    • The Aftermath hosts also form this dynamic. Sammy, who's overly nervous yet willing to help whenever she can, is the nice. The bratty Attention Whore Amy is the mean. The laid-back but mischevious Geoff is the in-between.
  • Non-Gameplay Elimination: After Owen gets mauled by Fang while he and Duncan are saving Gwen after she fell overboard, Chris determines he's unable to continue the competition and has him evacuated, with Owen giving his leader position to Noah.
  • Odd Friendship: Despite participating in different teams and generations, Owen and Sky end up bonding with Sky's feelings of inadequacy compared to the other competitors resonating with Owen's own pressures he's putting on himself as leader. When the two appear together on the first Aftermath, Sky's even the one pushing Owen's wheelchair in.
  • Pop-Cultural Osmosis Failure:
    • In "West End Story", upon noticing that the romance scene of Team Heather takes place in a bar, Chris makes a joke comparing Heather and Alejandro to Sam and Diane. With the exception of Harold, nobody on Team Heather understands the reference.
    • In regards to Alejandro's tendency to be The Starscream, Duncan refers to him as the Trope Namer in "No Man is an Island." Alejandro doesn't get the reference.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Scott calls out Mike in "Spice To Meet You" for making his personal issues be everybody else's problem, frequently acting out and scaring the other contestants as a result.
  • Ship Sinking: Mike and Zoey end up mutually breaking up after the latter eliminates herself in Mike's place at the end of "Food Disservice," both deciding that they went too quickly into their relationship.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Sky's sister does this to Dave when he begins criticising her for how she handled their relationship during Pahkitew Island on the first Aftermath episode.
  • The Starscream: Alejandro plans to usurp control of Team Heather from Heather. Of course, since Alejandro knows that Heather knows this while she knows that Alejandro knows that she knows, this just adds a new layer to their usual tango.
  • The Stoner: Dawn reveals herself to be one in "Food Disservice", stating that she's baked brownies before, but not with taste as the focus. It's later implied in the same chapter that she attempted to smoke weed during the cooking phase of the challenge out of stress.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: During the recruitment phase of the first challenge, a mortified Duncan accidentally walks in on Geoff and Bridgette having sex in a cave, Scott asking if he saw them make out. The three look at each other before awkwardly confirming Scott's question.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: As Team Heather learns the hard way in "Food Disservice," the cooking skills Mike picked up from Manitoba may be good for wilderness survival, but don't translate well to refined restaurant dining.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Downplayed example, as Bridgette comments in the confessional that she feels that most of Geoff's more boneheaded moves tend to occur when he's around Brody. It turns out to be prophetic as Geoff's elimination occurs as a result of him copying a stunt Brody tried earlier in the soccer challenge much to the Killer Blades' detriment.
  • Tranquil Fury: In "No Man Is An Island", when Chris announces that the challenge will be about hunting animals, Dawn immediately begins to strangle him while calmly asking Chris to repeat what he said.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Duncan recruits Scott onto the Killer Blades by saving him from Fang. Scott's response is to immediately make plans to eliminate Duncan (although it's implied in later episodes he's also doing it to impress Courtney).
  • Unseen No More: Sky's Olympian older sister, whom she mentioned a few times in Pahkitew Island, appears on the first Aftermath comforting her over her elimination.
  • Villain Has a Point: Although Scott says it mostly to throw Mike off his game and make him easier to eliminate, both Gwen and even Mike himself admit that Scott's mostly right about his "The Reason You Suck" Speech.
  • Villain Team-Up: Alejandro and Scott begin working together starting in "Nou Hard Feelings" to help each other out with their mutual goals.
  • Villains Never Lie: Since Emma already knows all of Alejandro's tricks thanks to Noah, Alejandro instead brings up all the times Owen was The Load during their time together in Team Chris Is Really Really Really Really Hot in order to get Emma to doubt Owen's capabilities as leader.
  • Wham Line: The eliminated contestant at the end of "Dishonor Among Thieves" has this to say as they're being taken off the ship:
    Sierra: I'M SORRY, LUPIN!
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Gwen makes it clear in no uncertain terms that she blames Emma for putting too much pressure on Owen as their team leader that led to him getting mauled by Fang while he and Duncan were saving her after she fell overboard.
  • You Are in Command Now:
    • After Owen is medically evacuated as a result of him being mauled by Fang, he leaves Noah in charge of the Strawberry Shortcakes.
    • Played for Laughs in "West End Story". Upon finding out that the challenge is to make a musical scene, Duncan immediately tells Zoey that she's the new leader of the Killer Blades before attempting to throw himself overboard to quit the competition. Zoey and Leshawna don't let him.
    • When Heather and Kitty end up swapping teams at the end of "No Man is an Island," she names Alejandro as the new leader of Team Heather.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Once Scott begins genuinely attempting to win challenges, Alejandro decides to break off their alliance and rat out Scott's sabotaging to Duncan, resulting in the dirt farmer's elimination.
