Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is set in a world consisting of an endless sea and boundless sky. Far in the past, two continental-sized titans known as the Bionis and the Mechonis came into existence, which they battled one another upon the endless sea until only their lifeless corpses remained standing in place. Life exists upon the surfaces of these titanic corpses where all organic life, such as the human-like Homs, live on the Bionis while mechanical monsters, such as the Mechon, live on the Mechonis. For as long as the Homs can remember, they've been at odds with the Mechon, which has resulted in the lands of the Bionis becoming a battlefield; forever fighting off the Mechon invaders who are attempting to wipe out all life on the Bionis. However, the Homs have a single legendary weapon that proves itself devastating to the Mechon. The sword of the Bionis itself, the Monado.
