Chapter 4 centers around Shulk and Reyn's journey up the Bionis' thigh towards the other Homs settlement, Colony 6, which resides at the top of the titan's leg. They come across Sharla's refugee camp along the way as it turns out that Colony 6 was already overrun by the Mechon.

1) Heading for Colony 6

On the Bionis' knee, Shulk and Reyn look around Kneecap Hill for a way to continue up, which they see that they have to climb up the nearby cliffs.

2) The Bionis' Leg

Starting from the Bionis' knee, Shulk and Reyn begin their climb up towards Colony 6. They arrive at the Gaur Plain grassland on the Bionis' thigh, which something smoking in the distance catches their attention.

3) The Vision

Shulk and Reyn come across a crashed smoking buggy on the Gaur Plain. When Shulk touches the buggy, he ends up having a Monado vision of a young Homs boy being attacked by two rhinoceros-like Ardun creatures by a patch of water, which Shulk and Reyn head off to find him.

4) The Boy at the Oasis

Shulk and Reyn find the Homs boy at a Gaur Plain oasis, and save him from the Arduns.

5) To the Homs Camp

Thanking Shulk and Reyn for the rescue, the Homs boy introduces himself as Juju. After Shulk manages to fix up Juju's buggy, the latter offers to show Shulk and Reyn the Homs camp he came from, which they agree to follow along.

6) Sharla and Juju

Shulk, Reyn, and Juju arrive at a Homs camp where a young woman that leads it named Sharla turns out to be Juju's older sister. Shulk ends up having a Monado vision of Sharla being killed by a Mechon that's holding Juju captive along with an image of the Bronze Face-Mechon. After the vision, Sharla scolds Juju for trying to return to Colony 6 while assuming that Shulk and Reyn are reinforcements. However, Shulk and Reyn reveal that they're actually on a journey from Colony 9 to travel through Colony 6. Shulk and Reyn start to get a sense something bad must have happened to Colony 6, which Sharla reveals the bad news that Colony 6 has been taken over by the Mechon.

7) The Tragedy of Colony 6

Sharla explains what happened to Colony 6 where they were caught unprepared by a sudden Mechon attack just like what happend to Colony 9. That Sharla and Juju were tasked to help evacuate the citizens while the colony leader, Otharon, and Sharla's fiance, a soldier named Gadolt, stayed behind to fight the Mechon and cover for the escaping citizens. Sharla explains how she runs the Colony 6 refugee camp to continue protecting them, but Juju desires to retake Colony 6, and begs Shulk and Reyn to take him along knowing that they're journeying to said colony. However, Sharla orders him not to, which results in Juju storming off.

Eventually, Shulk, Reyn and Sharla hear Juju's buggy driving off. Realizing that Juju is headed for Colony 6, and the need to go rescue him, Shulk reveals to Reyn and Sharla of the vision he saw where Juju gets taken captive by a Mechon in some sort of valley (leaving out the part where he saw Sharla die). Given that Juju's her brother, Sharla desires to tag along, but finds the claim of Shulk seeing future visions hard to believe. In return, Reyn assures her that it's the truth as he wouldn't be alive now if it wasn't for Shulk's visions. Sharla agrees to go along with it, and they head off to save Juju while Shulk thinks to himself that he will change the future where he saw Sharla die.

8) A New Ally

Shulk's group decides to head for Raguel Bridge since it's the main path towards Colony 6 that Juju would have to take to get there. Along the way, Shulk, Reyn, and Sharla discuss working together, which Sharla assures them that she can pull her own weight fighting with them as a ranged field medic. Meanwhile, Juju turns out to have crashed his buggy on Raguel Bridge, which he decides to continue on foot towards Colony 6.

9) The Abandoned Buggy

Shulk and company arrive at Raguel Bridge, and come across Juju's crashed buggy. When Shulk touches the buggy like before, he has another Monado vision where he sees Juju being attacked by a Mechon in a valley. Sharla informs Shulk of a nearby valley that's on the way to Colony 6, which they begin to trek towards it.

10) Where Did Juju Go?

Shulk's group continue along the path towards Colony 6 until Reyn questions if Juju went elsewhere since there's still no sight of him. However, Sharla remains convinced that Juju's not stupid enough to go off the beaten path, which they continue on towards the valley.

11) Shulk's Power

Shulk and company arrive at Spiral Valley; named after its spiral pathways between the valley levels. They find Juju having already been caught by a powerful Mechon M71 contraption, which Sharla charges ahead to save her brother. Refusing to allow his vision to happen where he saw Sharla die during the charge, Shulk manages to unlock the Monado's Speed ability, and casts it out upon Sharla. This allows for Sharla to dodge the Mechon strike in time that proved fatal in the vision. With the new Monado Speed skill unlocked, Shulk's group takes on the Mechon M71 in order to save Juju.

12) Pursuing the Mechon

After supposedly defeating the Mechon M71, it escapes with Juju to a higher level of Spiral Valley, which Shulk and company chase after it up the spiral ramp.

13) The Talking Face

Shulk and company battle the Mechon M71 atop Spiral Valley until there's an opening for Reyn to jump in and grab Juju. The Mechon M71 is then defeated as the group celebrates their victory while Sharla's relieved to have Juju back at her side. However, Shulk remains worried given that he hasn't seen the Bronze Face-Mechon yet from his vision. Sure enough, the Bronze Face-Mechon finally appears before them while claiming that he's interested in fighting the "Monado-boy," much to everyone's shock that they've come across a Mechon that can talk. The result is Shulk's group battling it out with the Bronze Face-Mechon, who appears to be larger and bulkier than Metal-Face.

14) Juju Kidnapped

During the battle, the Bronze Face-Mechon manages to take Juju captive, and just like what happened with Metal-Face, Shulk's group is unable to hurt the Face-Mechon due to the Monado being unable to damage it. The battle then comes to a sudden end due to the Bronze Face-Mechon running low on power, and has to head off to recharge. Flying away while still holding Juju captive, the Bronze Face-Mechon yells back at Shulk challenging him to a rematch at Colony 6 as Sharla's forced to watch her younger brother get taken away.

After disposing of the Arduns, Shulk, Reyn, and the boy that they just rescued return to the smoking buggy. Shulk and Reyn agree to it, and with Juju leading the way, they head off to the camp.

    6) Sharla and Juju
Shulk, Reyn, and Juju in his buggy, arrive at the camp, which a young Homs woman notices Juju's return, and asks where he's been. This causes Shulk to have a blue-eyed vision where he sees this woman being killed by a Mechon that was holding Juju captive with one of its tentacles along with a brief moment of an unknown Face-Mechon (the one that was informed of their arrival on the Bionis' knee). Seeing the buggy, the woman catches on to why Juju was away, and scolds Juju for trying to return to Colony 6 when they're still not ready. Juju apologizes for his actions to the woman named Sharla, which she gives him a hug.

Turning her attention to Shulk and Reyn, Sharla assumes by their gear that they must be survivors of Colony 6, and grabs Reyn demanding to know about the state of the colony, and if Gadolt made it out. Reyn remains confused as to what she's talking about, which Shulk informs her of how the two of them are from Colony 9, much to her confusion. Juju introduces Sharla to Shulk and Reyn as his saviors from the Arduns. In return, Sharla properly introduces herself to them being Juju's older sister. Juju also informs his sister that he offered Shulk and Reyn to stay at the camp, which Sharla accepts.

Realizing something's amiss, Reyn asks if something happened at Colony 6. Shulk adding that travelling there is part of their goal. The disheartened Sharla reveals that the colony, their original home, was taken over by the Mechon. Sharla asks Shulk and Reyn to come along into the camp so that they can talk privately about the current situation.

    7) The Tragedy of Colony 6
Once they're situated in the Homs camp, Sharla explains how after beating the Mechon a year ago at Sword Valley, it left Colony 6 with a false sense of security to the point that the Defence Force never saw the current Mechon attack coming. Sharla and Juju took the role of evacuating the children and elderly while the Mechon went about eating people and destroying Colony 6, but since then, they've been in the dark as to what's happening at the colony. Shulk replies that a similar attack happened to Colony 9, and praises Sharla for successfully evacuating some people, which Sharla states that they have Colonel Otharon and Gadolt to thank for that.

Sharla reveals that Gadolt was set to be her husband, but instead of worrying that he may be dead by now, she remains convinced that Gadolt and the other Colony 6 soldiers are still fighting. Knowing that Shulk and Reyn are aiming to head to Colony 6, Juju pleads to have them take him along. An argument breaks out between Sharla and Juju. The former wanting to help the refugees and keep the camp safe while the latter wants to fight believing that the Mechon must have cleared out to attack Colony 9.

Juju calls out Sharla for being afraid of the Mechon, and calls her heartless for leaving the remaining survivors to die. Shulk sees the Sharla and Juju death vision to the tentacle Mechon again, which Reyn proceeds to scold Juju for disrespecting her sister. This causes Juju to leave claiming that he'll make dinner. Seeing Reyn scold Juju, Sharla mentions that he acts a lot like Gadolt, who acted as a father figure to her little brother. Reyn notices Shulk keeping quiet asking if he saw another vision, which Shulk admits he did. The three then hear the sound of the buggy driving off.

Shulk, Reyn, and Sharla quickly realizes that Juju once more drove off on his own to Colony 6. Knowing that something bad's about to happen, Shulk informs them of the vision he saw; a valley surrounded in flames where a Mechon ends up killing Juju along with a Face-Mechon that might be Metal-Face. Shulk and Reyn start heading off to save Juju only for Sharla to stop them as she's confused as to what's going on. Reyn reveals to her that Shulk has the power to see the future, which Sharla finds hard to believe. Shulk assures her that while he doesn't fully understand it just yet, the vision of Juju dying will come true if they don't stop it.

Reyn adds that he believes it as he wouldn't be alive right now if it wasn't for Shulk's visions. Despite still not believing it, Sharla agrees to go along with it since she has nothing else to go on to find Juju. Seeing Reyn take command to find Juju, Sharla once more claims that he's acting like Gadolt, which Reyn questions if she's just treating him as a Gadolt substitute. As Reyn and Sharla walk on, Shulk's left thinking to himself that he left out the part where he saw Sharla die in the vision as well. Given that he can't stop her from going, Shulk remains worried as to how he's going to be protecting her, but he then assures himself that he will change the future.

    8) A New Ally
Reyn asks where Juju could have gone, which Sharla suggests Raguel Bridge given that Juju's using a buggy. As they head off to the bridge, Reyn suggests for Sharla to stand back while Shulk and Reyn due the fighting. However, Sharla assures them that she can pull her own weight, and even has field experience as a medic to be the one that patches the group up utilizing ether, which Reyn happily accepts Sharla as someone to fight alongside them. Meanwhile, Juju's seen having crashed his buggy on Raguel Bridge, and proceeds to continue to Colony 6 on foot while claiming that he will show them all.

    9) The Abandoned Buggy
Shulk's group eventually arrives at Raguel Bridge, and find Juju's crashed buggy. Touching the buggy like last time, Shulk activates his blue-eyed vision ability to find Juju's current location, and sees Juju having arrived at the valley, and then gets attacked by the tentacle Mechon. He informs the group of Juju's current danger from the vision he just saw, which Sharla informs them that there's a noteworthy valley on the way to Colony 6 that might be the location Shulk's referring to. Agreeing that it might have been the route Juju took, Shulk's group head off to the valley known by Sharla.

    10) Where Did Juju Go?
From the bridge, Shulk, Reyn, and Sharla continue along a dirt road that leads to Colony 6, but they start to get worried due to Juju being nowhere in sight. Reyn questions if Juju would go off the beaten path, but Sharla remains convinced that Juju knows that doing such an action would be dangerous. As a result, they agree to continue along the road.

    11) Shulk's Power
Shulk's group eventually arrives at the location known as Spiral Valley, and after a bit of searching, they find Juju currently being held captive by the tentacle Mechon known as a Mechon M71 at a natural spiral land platform. Hence, the name of the valley. The result is Sharla charging towards the Mechon M71 just like what happens in the vision that results in her death from being hit and bitten to the tentacles.

Due to Shulk wanting to save Sharla from death, a new light-blue symbol appears on the Monado. Shulk asks if he can truly save her, which he hears the voice of the man he saw in his dream telling him that it's a given he can. Shulk tests out the new Monado ability and casts it out at Sharla. The result is her being shrouded in an aura that increases her speed to dodge the tentacle that would have hit her in the vision. Thus, revealing that what Shulk unlocked the Monado Speed ability. With the help of the new speed ability unlocked, Shulk's group take on the Mechon M71.

    12) Pursuing the Mechon
Shulk, Reyn and Sharla battle it out against the Mechon M71 until it looks to have been defeated. However, it manages to get back up, and retreats to the top of the spiral land platform while still holding Juju captive. As a result, Shulk's group is forced to chase after it up the spiral platform.

    13) The Talking Face
Shulk's group battles the Mechon M71 once more atop the spiral land platform, which an opening finally allows Reyn to retrieve Juju from the tentacle right before the Mechon M71's destriction. With the battle over, Juju's saved, which he apologizes for his actions. Sharla then proceeds to slap Juju due to his recklessness, but then gives him a hug glad that he's okay. Reyn's glad that they pulled off changing the future, but Shulk doesn't feel as relieved noting that there was another Mechon that he saw in his vision.

Reyn questions if it's Metal-Face, but Shulk answers that it's not. Unsurprisingly, a Bronze Face-Mechon, the one who knows about their arrival on the Bionis' knee, and much bulkier than Metal-Face, suddenly arrives at their location. It states that it's been waiting for the "Monado-boy," much to everyone's shock that they've just now met a Mechon that can talk. After hearing about the damage done to Metal-Face, the Bronze Face-Mechon belittles Shulk having believed the latter to be a big scary monster, yet he's just a little boy. Said Face-Mechon then battles it out with Shulk's group.

    14) Juju Kidnapped
During the battle, Juju's taken captive again being grabbed by the Bronze Face-Mechon. Shulk's once more confused as to why the Monado can't damage Face-Mechons, and despite their best efforts, the Face-Mechon overpowers Shulk's group. Just as the Face-Mechon's about to finish them off, its body's red light starts to flash green as if it's running low on energy, which signals that its time is up. The Bronze Face-Mechon calls Shulk lucky, and states that if they want the boy (Juju) back, they should make their way to Colony 6 so that they can fight again. Shulk's group watches as the bulky Face-Mechon and other lesser nearby Mechon begin flying away back to Colony 6. Juju being taken along in the Face-Machon's grip as Sharla's forced to watch.
