Recap / Xenoblade Chronicles One Prologue

Go To

The Prologue of Xenoblade Chronicles 1. The Prologue centers around two major events. The first is the titan duel between the Bionis and Mechonis that established the world's setting ages ago. The second is the "Battle of Sword Valley" where a year before present time, the Homs hero and current wielder of the Monado, Dunban, led his people to victory against the Mechon at the outskirts of the Mechon stronghold, Galahad Fortress.

1) Bionis and Mechonis

Eons ago, two massive titans, the Bionis and Mechonis, battled it out upon the endless sea until they're left as dead corpses standing in place. During the battle, one of the Mechonis' arms ends up getting cut off, which drops down to the endless sea. In return, the Mechonis manages to stab its sword into the Bionis' gut.

Jumping ahead, the Bionis turns out to be the home for living creatures while the Mechonis is the home for mechanical beings. The "Battle of Sword Valley," is seen taking place where the wielder of the Bionis' Monado sword, Dunban, goes about leading the human-like Homs of Bionis alongside his two comrades, Dickson and Mumkhar, against the machine-like Mechon of Mechonis. As the one weapon that's truly capable of damaging the Mechon, the Monado provides Dunban two abilities in the form of Buster and Enchant. Buster doubling the Monado's blade damage against Mechon, and Enchant allowing the weapons of allies to also damage Mechon.

2) Seizing the Future

Despite the order to retreat, Dunban manages to lead the Homs to victory alongside Dickson. Meanwhile, Mumkhar turns traitor trying to leave them to die, which he ended up dying off to the Mechon.

    1) Bionis and Mechonis
The story begins with the main character, a Homs named Shulk, narrating the titanic battle from ages ago that shows off the two continental-sized titans, Bionis and Mechonis, battling it out upon the world's endless sea. During the battle, the Bionis lands a sword strike that cuts off one of the Mechonis' hands. The Bionis and Mechonis then stab their swords into each other, and the battle comes to an end with the lifeless corpses of the Bionis and Mechonis standing in their final spots.

Jumping eons ahead, Shulk closes out the narration by explaining that their world, the life of the human-like Homs that exists upon the vast land stretching across the remains of the Bionis, has been under attack from the relentless forces of the Mechon; the mechanical monsters that live on the Mechonis. A battle on the Bionis' Sword Valley that later becomes known as the "Battle of Sword Valley" is seen going down between the Homs and the invading Mechons.

The Homs are unable to hold any further, and are ordered to retreat to Colony 6 to make their last stand. However, the current wielder of the Monado, a high-ranking soldier of Colony 9 named Dunban, ignores the order, and decides to fight the Mechon in the hopes that doing so will change their destiny. His two closest allies, Dickson and Mumkhar, help him engage the Mechon. Dunban's able to attack the Mechon thanks to being able to use two of the Monado's powers: the Monado Buster, and the Monado Enchant. The blue-symboled Buster ability serves as a powerful straight-line attack that deals double the damage to Mechon, and the violet-symboled Enchant ability grants an aura that enchants Dunban's nearby allies to allow their normal attacks to damage Mechon.

    2) Seizing the Future
Dunban, Dickson, and Mumkhar battle it out against the Mechon until the cowardly and dirty Mumkhar decides to make a run for it. His plan being to later return for the Monado once Dickson and Dunban have been killed off. However, Mumkhar ends up running into the Mechon; being the one that gets killed instead. Despite Mumkhar's treachery, Dunban and Dickson continue the battle. The battlefield then fades out into showing the Bionis and Mechonis corpses still standing in place.
