Human Characters

Main Characters

    The Protagonist

Vitor/Natalie/Pluto

The player character. A kid from Moki Town who lives with their great-aunt. They're the child of Kellyn, Head Ranger of Tandor, and Lucille, a brilliant nuclear physicist who died when Nuclear Plant Epsilon suffered a meltdown ten years before the start of the game. They can be male, female or non-binary.

  • Ambiguous Gender: Pluto has a very androgynous design. Also, the player character is always referred to with they/them pronouns, no matter which design is chosen.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: They're the ones who unwittingly release CURIE and Urayne from hibernation in Nuclear Plant Epsilon.
  • When You Coming Home, Dad?: After their mother disappeared in a Nuclear meltdown, their father throws himself into his Ranger work to distract himself from his grief and leaves the protagonist in the care of their great aunt. The story takes place 10 years after the disaster, and during the storyline the protagonist eventually goes to see their father at Ranger HQ.

    Theo

Theo Caine

The player character's rival, and fellow Moki Town resident who lives with his father.

  • Anime Hair: Spiky bright red hair with a yellow stripe running in the middle. Which is a Hereditary Hairstyle, since his father Cameron has the same hairdo.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Starts out this way at the start of the game. He thinks he'll become the greatest trainer in the world, is incredibly impatient and will cry and make excuses whenever he loses. Don't worry, he gets better.
  • Break the Haughty: After his father is caught in the middle of a disaster at one of the nuclear plants, ending up in critical condition, Theo very quickly gets things put into perspective for him, and this kick-starts his character development into a more mature trainer.
  • Character Development: Starts off as a Boisterous Weakling and a Sore Loser, but thankfully matures a lot over the course of the game.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype:
    • Of the jerk rival from the earlier Pokemon games. Like Blue, Theo has a huge ego and loves to boast. Unlike Blue, though, Theo clearly lacks the skill and attitude to back said boasts; he often finds himself several steps behind younote , and has a really hard time taking losses.
  • Final Boss Preview: You get to see the complete team he'll use as the True Final Boss when he teams up with you during the 7th gym battle and Nuclear Plant Omicron. That being said, his team at that point doesn't yet have their polished movesets and held items as he has during the final Championship match
  • Guest-Star Party Member: He teams up with you three times through the game: first during the entirety of your first trek through Comet Cave (though he runs away when the dungeon boss shows up just before reaching the exit) then against Vaeryn's Gym Battle, and lastly during the Hazard Zone.
  • Her Code Name Was "Mary Sue": You can check Theo's computer to find a story he wrote. In addition to grammatical and spelling errors, it's about how Theo himself is the champion of Kanto, Johto, and Tandor, without ever losing and having "Super Mega Evolutions" for his Pokémon.
  • Heroic BSoD: Spends most of the Tandor Luxury Cruise trip in shock; even a battle can't cheer him up. Understandable, given that his father is in real danger.
  • Just a Kid: He gets upset whenever he has to stay behind while the player takes care of important missions, as the authority figures think the player can handle the situation better than he can. After his Character Development, he gets trusted more and even gets promoted to a full-fledged Ranger alongside the player character when Kellyn is incapacitated.
  • Recurring Element: He keeps one of the Pokemon he first caught on the very first or second route all the way to the end, even leading his team with it. Depending on the starter, that is Nimflora, Splendifowl or Gararewl, final forms of Com Mons Cubbug, Birdie and Barewl respectively.
  • The Rival: Duh.
  • Signature Mon: His team varies depending on your choice of starter, but all his teams will always have a Nucleon.
  • Sore Loser: Does not take losses well early in the game; the first time he loses to you, he throws a tantrum and goes to his room to sulk, and needs his dad to talk him down. He grows out of this as the game goes on.
  • True Final Boss: The final and strongest opponent in the Championship. First time around CURIE and Urayne hijack things and serve as the story's Final Boss, but afterwards the fight with Theo properly takes place and he is in fact the toughest trainer in the game.

    Professor Bamb'o

Professor Ernest Bamb'o

One of Tandor's three Pokemon Professors, and the one who gives both the player character and Theo their starter Pokemon. He specializes in Pokemon types.

  • Signature Mon: His Pajay, which he uses to fly around.
  • Theme Naming: Played with. While Pokemon Professors are named after trees, he's named after bamboo, which is a plant but not a tree.

    Kellyn

Kellyn

The player character's father and Head Ranger of Tandor.

  • Big Good: As the Head Ranger of Tandor, he plays this role, always directing the Rangers where a crisis happens.
  • Mission Control: Takes on this role during the mission on the Hazard Zone, since the wounds he took previously stop him from taking on a more active role.
  • Signature Mon: His partner is an Empirilla.

Gym Leaders

Tropes applied to all of them:

  • Super Mode: All of them can use Mega Evolution, though only Vaeryn, Hinata, and Kaito use Mega Evolved Pokemon during their Gym battles.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In the Tandor League, one of your opponents will be one of the Gym Leaders you have faced before, with the exception of Hinata and Kaito. They use a full team made up of high leveled, fully evolved Pokemon that have cleverly crafted movesets with coverage or specific tactics in mind, use powerful items such as Choice Scarves or Life Orbs, and their last Pokemon can Mega Evolve. It's implied that this is their "true" teams, and the Pokemon you faced in their Gym battles are simply teams tailor made for challengers.

    Maria

Maria

Nowtoch City's Gym Leader and former Tandor League Champion. She specializes in Normal-type Pokémon.
  • Non-Elemental: She specializes in Normal-type Pokémon.
  • Retired Badass: She's a former Tandor League Champion.
  • Warm-Up Boss: She's very easy to defeat, given that her Pokémon are at low levels, use weak moves and lack coverage. On the route to her city, you can catch no less than two Pokémon that can make short work of her team, Mankey (who starts with Low Kick and can learn Karate Chop pretty quickly), and Barewl (a Rock/Steel type Pokémon, meaning it has double resistance to the Normal and Flying-type moves Maria's Pokémon exclusively use). She's also the only Gym Leader who only uses three Pokémon.

    Davern

Davern

Burole Town's Gym Leader. A lover of caves who specializes in cave-dwelling Pokemon.

    Cali

Cali

Bealbeach City's Gym Leader. A surfer of renown who uses Pokémon that can be found on beaches.

    Sheldon

Sheldon

Vinoville Town's Gym Leader. A tech nerd who specializes in Steel-type Pokémon.

  • Extra-ore-dinary: He's a Steel-type specialist.
  • Expy: He's basically if Sheldon was a Pokémon trainer.
  • Nerd Glasses: Wears them as part of his apparel.
  • Tempting Fate: He complains about how living in a quiet, rural town drives him mad with boredom, and wishes something interesting would happen just once. Cue the power plant to the north blowing up.

    Tiko

Tiko

Amatree Town's Gym Leader. A passionate dancer who employs Fire-type Pokémon.

  • Distressed Dude: You have to rescue him from the Anthell before the Seikamater turns him into her dinner.
  • Playing with Fire: He's a Fire-type specialist.
  • Poor, Predictable Rock: In his Gym Battle at least; all his Pokémon are weak to water, no less than three of them have a double weakness to rock, and none of his Pokemon have coverage moves to deal with types with advantage over Fire.
  • Took a Level in Badass: His Elite Four version is considered the single hardest battle in the entire game.

    Rosalind

Rosalind

Venesi City's Gym Leader. A theatre actress who uses Psychic and Fairy-type Pokémon.

    Vaeryn

Vaeryn

Snowbank Town's Gym Leader. A Mega Evolution Master who specializes in Dragon and Ice-type Pokémon.

  • An Ice Person: Most of his Pokémon are Ice-types, and you fight him in a place with constant Hailstorm.
  • Dual Boss: Inverted. You fight him alongside Theo in a double battle.

    Hinata & Kaito

Hinata and Kaito

Tsukinami Village's Gym Leaders. The respective leaders of their ninja clans, and a married couple. Hinata uses "day-themed" Pokémon while Kaito uses "night-themed" Pokémon.

  • The Ageless: It's heavily implied that they're over a century old.
  • Battle Couple: They're a married couple, and share the position of Gym Leader. They're also seeing fighting together during the attack on Nuclear Plant Omicron.
  • Dual Boss: Subverted. You may think that you'll fight the two of them at once in a double battle, as it was the case with Tate and Liza, but nope; you fight the two of them in two single battles in a row.
  • Princesses Rule: Despite leading their clans, they're still a Princess and Prince respectively.

Villains

    CURIE (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

CURIE/Lucille

The game's main villain, Urayne's creator and the player character's mother. Once a brilliant nuclear physicist who was believed dead when the Nuclear Plant Epsilon suffered a meltdown, she now terrorizes the Tandor region with Nuclear Pokémon.

  • Atomic Superpower: Unsurprisingly, she uses Nuclear Pokémon.
  • Benevolent Boss: As horrible as a person as she is, she does seem to legitimately care about Urayne and the rest of her team. She takes the blame when the player defeats her in Nuclear Plant Zeta and Urayne is reverted to their Alpha state. She can even Mega Evolve her Baariette, which requires a deep bond between trainer and Pokémon.
  • Big Bad: Of Pokémon Uranium, unleashing troves of nuclear Pokémom to destroy the Tandor region.
  • Go Mad from the Isolation: Being trapped in a stasis chamber, fully conscious, mentally linked to an increasingly-starving Urayne, for a decade clearly did not end well for her psyche.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: At the end, she's revealed to be the main character's lost mother, Lucille. Unlike most versions of this trope, however, it's not revealed until she's finally beaten for good.
  • Missing Mom: The protagonist's mom, to be precise.
  • Rage Helm: Her gas mask makes an angry frown.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Even if calling her "evil" is a bit of a oversimplification. She spent ten years inside a stasis tank alongside Urayne in the ruins of Nuclear Plant Epsilon, before the player character unwittingly released her.
  • Super Mode: She can Mega Evolve her Nuclear Baariette.

    Professor Larkspur

Professor Larkspur

A Pokémon Professor with a laboratory in East Tandor. Unlike other professors, he's completely morally bakrupt, and only cares about making money, to the point that he sells tech to villanous teams in other regions.

  • Combat Pragmatist: Instead of challenging you in a normal Pokémon battle for the Pokémon Speech Translator prototype, he just has his goons ambush you, knock you out, and imprison you.
  • Bald of Evil: He has a bald spot, and is clearly evil.
  • Dark Is Evil: He's a villain, and most of his team is made up of Dark-type Pokémon.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Once you're trapped, he says that while he couldn't let you walk away with a valuable prototype, he didn't intend to cause you any harm.
  • Opaque Lenses: His glasses hides his eyes completely.
  • Trapped by Gambling Debts: While this doesn't make him particularly sympathetic, he does mention in one line that he owes money to people you really don't want to owe money to.

Tandor Pokédex

    Orchynx and Metalynx
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/metalynx_line_1.png

One of three starter Pokémon of the Tandor Region. A cute green kitten with some metallic parts. It loses much of its cuteness upon evolving into Metalynx, taking the form of a large feline, and its metallic parts become more prominent. Metalynx's main strengths are its Defense, Special Defense, and Attack to a lesser extent. Its Mega Evolved form gains quite a boost in Attack and a moderate boost to Defense, as well as the Heatproof ability.

  • Achilles' Heel: Its Grass/Steel typing gives it a lot of resistances, but it takes quadruple damage from Fire attacks. The Heatproof ability it gains upon Mega Evolving does mitigate this a bit, though.
  • Cute Kitten: Orchynx is certainly one.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Orchynx again.
  • Extra-ore-dinary: Its secondary type is Steel.
  • Green Thumb: Grass is its primary type.
  • Mighty Glacier: High Defenses and an ability to resist critical hits as well as good Attack, but low Speed.
  • Panthera Awesome: Metalynx is a large feline with metal blades growing on some of its limbs. The blades get bigger upon Mega Evolving.
  • Starter Mon: The Grass-type one.
  • Super Mode: It can Mega Evolve, which aside from the expected stats boost, it trades Battle Armor for Heatproof.

    Raptorch and Archilles
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/archilles_line.png

One of three starter Pokémon of the Tandor Region. A small cute fire dinosaur, which becomes a larger and ferocious theropod with fire growing on several parts of its body upon evolving. It has a rather even stat distribution, with Speed being its main strength. It gains a huge boost to Special Attack and Speed and a tiny boost to Defense and Special Defense upon Mega Evolving, as well as gaining the Drought ability.

    Eletux and Electruxo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/electruxo_line.png

One of three starter Pokémon of the Tandor Region. A small cute marine creature based on the hippocampus. Stat-wise, it appears to be in the middle between Metalynx and Archilles: an even distribution with emphasis on Defense and Special Defense. Upon Mega Evolving, like Archilles, it also gains a pretty big boost to Special Attack and Speed.

  • Action Initiative: It can learn Aqua Jet through leveling up.
  • Always Accurate Attack: Electruxo can learn Thunder, which never misses under the rain. And not only does Electruxo also learn Rain Dance, it gains the ability Drizzle upon Mega Evolving.
  • Hydro-Electro Combo: It's a Water/Electric-type. This becomes the most obvious when it Mega Evolves, gaining the ability Drizzle to instantly summon rain, which not only increases the power of its Water-type attacks but makes Thunder (an attack it can learn by leveling up) an Always Accurate Attack.
  • Making a Splash: Its primary type is Water.
  • Mighty Glacier: Pretty good defenses and Special Attack. Though upon Mega Evolving, it becomes a(n almost literal) Lightning Bruiser.
  • Our Hippocamps Are Different: Both are classified as the "Hippocampus Pokemon", though other than being four-legged, they don't look much like equines.
  • Shock and Awe: Its secondary type is Electric.
  • Starter Mon: The Water-type one.
  • Super Mode: It can Mega Evolve.
  • Weather Manipulation: Its ability upon Mega Evolving is Drizzle, which causes rain to fall as long it remains in play.

    Chyinmunk and Kinetmunk
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kinetmunk_line.png

A brown squirrel with blue cheeks, ears, and tail. It evolves into Kinetmunk, a larger squirrel whose brown fur is now yellow, and blue markers extending across its body. After evolving, it gains the Electric type.

  • Com Mons: The rodent one.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Its Pokédex description says that Kinetmunk lives in underground tunnels that they dig. You'd expect they'd learn Dig through leveling up, but they can only learn it through TM.
  • Recurring Element: A two evolutionary stage rodent that's caught early and evolves at low levels, evoking Rattata, Sentret, and Bidoof.
  • Non-Elemental: Chyinmunk is a pure Normal-type, while Kinetmunk is part Normal.
  • Shock and Awe: Kinetmunk is part Electric-type, and Chyinmunk can learn a few Electric attacks as well.

    Birbie, Aveden, and Splendifowl
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/splendifowl_line.png

A small, round-shaped bird with dark blue feathers, yellow tail feathers, and blue marks on its belly. Its evolution Aveden is larger and slimmer. Its final evolution, Splendifowl, is much larger, has a yellow crest that goes all the way to its tail, and adds some red to its mostly blue and yellow plumage.

  • Agent Peacock: Unlike Pidgeot or Staraptor, Splendifowl puts more emphasis on its beauty rather than its fierceness. It's still a decent battler, though.
  • Blinded by the Light: It has Flash right from the get-go. It gets several steel moves as well, which often focus on flashing light, like Flash Cannon and Mirror Shot.
  • Blow You Away: Part Flying-type. They can learn wind based moves like Gust or Hurricane.
  • Com Mons: The bird one.
  • Confusion Fu: The line learns an impressive variety of moves. This might seem similar to the theme of normal type mons getting a huge repertoire, but unlike most of these, the Splendifowl line actually has the special attack and speed to use it.
  • Counter-Attack: Not very durable, but access to Mirror Coat and Analytic means that they can still seriously punish an attacker.
  • Extra-ore-dinary: It learns a few special Steel type attacks by leveling up, like Mirror Shot and Flash Cannon. As mentioned above, this seems to be themed after flashing lights.
  • Non-Elemental: Part Normal-type.
  • Recurring Element: A Normal/Flying with a three stage evolutionary line, that can be found at the beginning. The Splendifowl line is the Tandor equivalent to the Pidgeot or Staraptor line. Unlike most of these (albeit not all), the line has a focus on on the special end, instead of the physical, and instead of representing a bird of prey or raptor, it's based on a bird of paradise.
  • Secret Art:
    • Weirdly enough, the only Pokémon in Uranium who can learn Mirror Shot.
    • It's also the only Pokemon that can have the Moody ability.
  • Squishy Wizard: Good Special Attack and Speed, poor defenses and HP.

    Cubbug, Cubblfly, and Nimflora
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nimflora_line.png

Cubbug is a pink caterpillar with the face of a bear and leaves covering its back. It evolves into Cubblfly, taking the form of a cocoon with its head exposed, and a couple pink wings sticking out of it, and gaining the Fairy type. Its final evolution, Nimflora, is a large butterfly-like creature with the face and limbs of a bear.

  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Cubbug is a pure Bug-type, its evolutions are also part Fairy type.
  • Badass Adorable: Nimflora is very cute and quite powerful.
  • Com Mons: Downplayed, you can get them on the very first route, but they are almost nowhere else.
  • Disc-One Nuke: You can get Cubbug as literally your first caught Pokémon. It takes a bit to evolve, but not too long either, and Bug/Fairy is a very strong typing, and Cubblfly gets Sleep Powder at level 15. Then Nimflora is a strong third stage nearly comparable to the starter with a diverse movepool. They do fall off a bit later on, but Nimflora's stats are still serviceable late game, one of the Post-Final Boss teams in fact has a Nimflora, and they still come with a powerful movepool.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: They're, respectively, a caterpillar, a cocoon, and a butterfly mixed with bear parts (mostly the head).
  • Fragile Speedster: Downplayed, its defenses and HP are low but not terrible, but its stat spread does favor speed and attack.
  • Forced Sleep: They get access to Sleep Powder, and fairly early too.
  • Recurring Element: Played With. It's based on the 3-stage early game bugs such as Butterfree and Vikavolt, with its evolution progression being a compromise between the earlier and later versions of the archetype, similar to Orbeetle (Level 10 for the first evolution and 24 for the second), but its stats are immensely better, averting Crutch Character.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: Cubblfly and Nimflora are part Fairy-type.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: They can't really handle fire and steel types; not only do they take 2x dmg from them and both of their STA Bs are resisted, none of their coverage options deal significant damage to either type either. Cubblfly can get Powder for fire, but that's an unreliable option at best, and Nimflora can be taught Superpower, but that has its own drawbacks (and Superpower is only available late in game, notably after both the steel and fire gyms).

    Barewl, Dearewl, and Gararewl
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gararewl_line.png

A Rock/Steel type Pokémon that likes to dwell in caves. Barewl is a small, spherical Pokémon with stubby legs, a tail, and a hemet covering its head. Upon evolving into Dearewl, they become quadrupeds, as more metal plates grow around their bodies. Their final evolution, Gararewl, becomes larger and slimmer, resembling an equine with long hair. It also loses its Rock-type to become a pure Steel-type Pokémon — the only one in Tandor, and thus the only non-Nuclear Pokémon able to resist Nuclear-type attacks.

  • Achilles' Heel: Barewl and Dearewl take quadruple damage from Fighting and Ground-type attacks.
  • Cephalothorax: Barewl is basically a head with stubby legs.
  • Com Mons: The rock one you usually find in caves.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Barewl and Dearewl are part Rock-types. They can also learn Ground-type attacks like Mud Slap or Earthquake besides Rock-type attacks.
  • Extra-ore-dinary: Part Steel-type. Gararewl is a pure Steel-type, though.
  • HP to One: The line has a 50% chance to have the Sturdy ability, which prevents a One-Hit Kill from full HP. This makes it possible for Gararewl to PP-stall Gamma Urayne's Overheat.
  • Recurring Element: Downplayed. Compared to other three-stage Rock-type Pokémon that can be found in caves from a very early level, such as Golem, they ultimately emphasise more on their steel typing, similar to the Aggron line specifically.
  • Secret Art: The only line that can learn the move Metal Whip.

    Grozard and Terlard
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/terlard_line.png

A Ground-type, small, worm-like Pokémon whose body is partially underground. They're mostly found in caves, but it's possible to see them outside of them. Upon evolving into Terlard, they grow larger, spawn a second head, and gain the Dragon-type.

    Tonemy and Tofurang
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tofurang_line.png

A Poison-type bat-like creature with a furry tail that like to fly around caves. They evolve into Tofurang, a massive behemoth that loses its ability to fly in exchange for a much larger bulk.

  • Com Mon: Being an Expy of Zubat, it goes without saying.
  • Meaningful Name: Its name sounds like "ton of me", perfect for an expy of the most infuriatingly abundant Com Mon around.
  • Poisonous Person: Both are pure Poison-types.
  • Signature Mon: Tofurang is Davern's strongest mon when you fight him for his badge.
  • Stone Wall: Tofurang's stats focus on HP and defenses, with little in the way of attack or Speed. They aren't very high, though.

    Dunsparce and Dunseraph
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dunseraph.png
For tropes applying to Dunsparce, go here.

Upon learning the Uranium exclusive move Sky Fall, Dunsparce will evolve into Dunseraph, a large snake with two forelegs, two wings on its back, and two smaller wings on the back of its head, and trading its normal type for dual Dragon/Flying types. They also get an even stat boost to match Dunsparce's own even stat distribution, albeit Dunseraph puts more emphasis on Special Attack as well.

  • Achilles' Heel: Being Dragon/Flying, it takes quadruple damage from Ice type moves.
  • Blow You Away: Its secondary type is Flying.
  • Dragons Are Divine: They have an angel-like appearance, "Seraph" in their name, and they're classified as the "God Snake Pokémon".
  • Our Angels Are Different: A reptilian being with white feathered wings and "Seraph" as a part of its name, referencing the occasional interpretation of the Seraphim as serpentine or draconic beings.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: A Dragon-type resembling a Tsuchinoko with feathered wings and whisker-like barbels.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokémon that learns Sky Fall through leveling up. The only other line that can learn it is the Eshouten line through breeding.

    Fortog, Folerog, and Blubelrog
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bubelrog_line.png

Water/Poison-type amphibians, common in the freshwater rivers and lakes of Tandor.

  • An Ice Person: They can learn a couple Ice-type moves by leveling up, such as Icy Wind and Ice Beam.
  • Com Mons: You'll find them on almost every body of water, with the exception of the ocean.
  • Making a Splash: Water is their primary type.
  • Mighty Glacier: Good HP, Special Attack, and Special Defense, but poor Speed.
  • Mythology Gag: Their shiny forms use the same color palette as Politoed.
  • Poisonous Person: They're part Poison-type.

    Magikarp and Gyarados
See here.

    Feleng, Felunge, and Feliger
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/feliger_line.png

A family of two-tailed feline Normal-type Pokémon whose stats and fighting style change quite a lot with each evolution.

  • Blessed with Suck: Feliger's ability Lazy makes it fall asleep at the beginning of its first turn.
  • Confusion Fu: Like many Normal types, the line gets access to an immense repertoire of moves, from their native normal to fighting, to all the way to elemental punches and even some psychic tricks. Somewhat downplayed due to their nonexistant special attack locking them out of effective usage of many of those moves, but they still have access to a very large number of physical moves.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Feleng's main gimmick is this as referenced in its Pokédex entry, and it gets Cute Charm (ability) and Charm (move) to boot, which it keeps as Felunge. It loses Cute Charm when it evolves to Feliger, though.
  • Fat Slob: Described as such by the Pokédex. Even if it comes with a huge stat boost, the nimble Felunge turns into an extremely fat and lazy cat as Feliger. Hell, it evolves into Feliger after learning the move Rest!
  • Fragile Speedster: Felunge has decent Attack and Speed, but poor defenses.
  • Glass Cannon: Feleng has good Attack and poor... everything else.
  • Magically Inept Fighter: Feliger ties with Cocancer as having the lowest Special Attack of all the fully evolved Pokémon in Uranium.
  • Mighty Glacier: Feliger has excellent HP, Attack, Defense, and Special Defense, but mediocre Speednote . The Lazy ability doesn't help, either.
  • Multiple-Tailed Beast: All three of them have two tails of varying length.
  • Necessary Drawback: Like its inspiration Slaking, Feliger needs a negative ability in order to stop it from breaking the game. That being said, Lazy's drawback is vastly easier to sidestep than Truant, especially since it fades away after 2 turns, during which Feliger can still punch through Sleep Talk.
  • Non-Elemental: All three are pure Normal-type.
  • Not Completely Useless: While falling asleep at the beginning of every first turn doesn't sound like an ideal ability, a clever trainer can take advantage of this by teaching Feliger Sleep Talk, and giving it 3 high damage moves on the other slots. Additionally, being asleep protects Feliger from other status conditions.
  • Power-Up Letdown: Feliger is a monster with a stat spread making it one of the absolute best Mighty Glaciers in the game with a very impressive movepool to support it, but is weighted down by its ability, Lazy. Its Pokédex entry even references that trainers are disappointed when their chipper Felunge evolved into a fat slob. Unlike its inspiration, Slaking, however, Lazy is much easier to circumvent than Truant and Feliger is competitively viable and a powerhouse in the story.
  • Secret Art: For all that it's worth, Feliger is the only Pokémon that has the Uranium-exclusive ability Lazy.
  • Signature Mon: Felunge is Maria's strongest Pokémon when you fight her in her Gym.
  • Secondary Sexual Characteristics: Males have a bushy mane on their necks. Interestingly, the official artwork depicts female, maneless, Feleng and Felunge, but a male, maned Feliger.

    Mankey, Primeape, and Empirilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/empirilla.png
For tropes applying to Mankey and Primeape, see here.

If a Primeape levels up while wearing the item Jungle Crown, it will evolve into Empirilla, becoming the king or queen of its Mankey and Primeape tribe.

  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Retains its preevolutions' fighting type.
  • Royalty Superpower: Inverted. It's not that only the royal Primeapes can evolve into Empirilla, they become royalty upon evolving.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokémon to have the Uranium-exclusive ability Infuriate (raises attack by one stage upon being hit with a physical move). Not even its preevolutions have it.

    Owten and Eshouten
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eshouten_line.png

Normal/Flying type Pokémon. They look like felines with wings replacing their forelegs.

  • Blow You Away: Flying-type.
  • Com Mons: You can find them in lots of places.
  • Confusion Fu: They have a very varied leveling up movepool. Aside from the expected Normal and Flying type attacks, they can also learn some Ghost and Psychic type moves.
  • Fragile Speedster: They have pretty good Speed and decent Attack, but poor HP and defenses.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: They look like cats with bird limbs.
  • Non-Elemental: Normal-type.

    Lotad, Lombre, and Ludicolo
See here.

    Smore and Firoke
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/firoke_line.png

A small red and black Bug-type Pokémon that resembles an ant. Once it learns the Incinerate move, it will evolve into Firoke, gaining the Fire-type as well. However, if a female Smore reaches level 45 while holding the Royal Jelly item, it will instead evolve into the extremely powerful Seikamater.

  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Both of them are Bug-types.
  • Crutch Character: You can catch a Smore and evolve it to Firoke before the second gym. At lower levels, Firoke is a pretty good battler and can deal a lot of damage with Incinerate.
  • Fire, Ice, Lightning: A variation. Firoke is the fire to Harylect's lightning and Sponaree's water (rather than ice).
  • Four-Legged Insect: Ants have six legs. Smore, however, only has four. Averted upon evolving into Firoke.
  • Playing with Fire: Firoke is part Fire-type.
  • Squishy Wizard: Firoke has a solid Special Attack and okay HP, but poor defenses and Speed.

    Brailip and Brainoar
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brainoar_line.png

A pair of Water/Psychic-type fishes with brains so big they pour out of their skulls. They also have pretty big lips.

    Ekans and Arbok
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arbok.png
For tropes shared with their canonical portrayals, see here.

  • Adaptational Badass: Arbok doesn't have a Mega Evolution in the official games.
  • A Head at Each End: Mega Arbok has an additional head at the tip of its tail.
  • Casting a Shadow: Arbok becomes part Dark-type upon Mega Evolving.
  • Medusa: Arbok's Mega Evolution evokes this; it has multiple small snakes growing around its head, and has the Petrify ability.
  • Signature Mon: An Arbok is Kaito's strongest mon.
  • Super Mode: Arbok has a Mega Evolution here.

    Tancoon and Tanscure
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tanscure_line.png

A pair of Dark/Normal type Pokémon that look like canids with characteristics of raccoons.

    Sponee and Sponaree
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sponaree_line.png

A small blue Bug-type Pokémon with round body, short legs and big eyes. Once it learns the move Bubblebeam, it will evolve into Sponaree, gaining the Water-type as well. However, if a female Sponee reaches level 45 while holding the Royal Jelly item, it will instead evolve into the extremely powerful Seikamater.

    Pahar, Palij, and Pajay
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pajay_line.png

Fire/Flying Pokémon based on tropical birds that live mostly in forests and jungles.

  • Blow You Away: They're part Flying-types.
  • Expy: Subverted. They actually predate the Talonflame line.
  • Glass Cannon: Great Special Attack and Speed, but poor defenses and HP.
  • Playing with Fire: They're part Fire-type.
  • The Phoenix: Pajay is classified as the "Phoenix Pokémon", although it doesn't have any ability associated with phoenixes other than being a fire bird.
  • Secret Art: Nuclear Pahar, which can only be obtained through Mystery Gift, is the only Pokémon that can learn the move Nuclear Wind.

    Jerbolta
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jerbolta.png

An Electric/Ground type hedgehog with the tail of a jerbil. The spines on its back will become rigid when they're charged with electricity.

    Comite, Cometeor, and Astronite
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/astronite_line.png

Rock-type Pokémon. Comite is a small rock with four tiny legs, and a hole on its body where a single eye can be seen. When it evolves into Cometeor, it gains the Psychic type and loses its legs for the ability to float. Upon evolving into Astromite, it sheds most of its rocky exterior, revealing a dark humanoid body.

  • Dishing Out Dirt: All of them are Rock-types.
  • Floating Limbs: Cometeor and Astronite's right arms aren't attached to their bodies, but held close with their psychic power.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Zigzagged. Cometeor's sprite appears to be levitating, and its Pokédex description mentions it can levitate, yet it doesn't have the Levitate ability. They can learn Magnet Rise, though.
  • Psychic Powers: Cometeor and Astronite are part Psychic-type.
  • Recurring Element: Played With. They're effectively a combination of the three-stage Rock archetype (such as Golem and Gigalith) with the three-stage Psychic archetype (such as Alakazam and Reuniclus). Like Golem, they dwell in caves and evolve to their final stage by trade; like Alakazam, they are humanoid (at least for Astronite) and specialise in special attacks.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokemon that can use the Uranim-exclusive move Gemstone Glimmer.
  • Squishy Wizard: Downplayed. They have high Special Attack and Speed, and okay defenses and HP.

    Mareep, Flaaffy, and Ampharos
See here.

    Baashaun, Baaschaf, and Baariette
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/baariette_line.png

Dark/Fighting type Pokémon based on sheep. Baashaun starts as a quadruped, but learns to walk on its hind legs to fight better upon evolving. They're believed to be related to the Ampharos line.

  • Achilles' Heel: They take quadruple damage from Fairy-type attacks.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: They're part Fighting-type.
  • Combat Pragmatist: The Pokédex describes this line as "masters of fighting dirty". Fittingly, they're Dark-type.
  • Foil: To the Ampharos line. Both lines are three evolutionary stage Pokémon based on sheep that start as four legged with a lot of wool, but become bipeds with less wool that can Mega Evolve; however, while the Ampharos line are monotype (Mega Ampharos excluded), are mostly white and yellow, and focus on Special Attack, the Bariette line is dual typed, are mostly black and blue, and focus on Attack.
  • Pun-Based Creature: They're literal black sheep, with black fur and the amoral dispositions of Dark-type Pokémon.
  • Super Mode: Baariette can Mega Evolve.

    Tricwe and Harylect
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/harylect_line.png

Tricwe is a Bug-type Pokémon that looks like a wingless bee. Upon learning Wild Charge, it will evolve into Harylect, gaining the Electric Type. However, if a female Tricwe reaches level 45 while holding the Royal Jelly item, it will instead evolve into the extremely powerful Seikamater.

  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Both of them are Bug-types.
  • Expy: Tricwe certainly looks a lot like Joltik.
  • Fire, Ice, Lightning: A variation. Harylect is the lightning to Firoke's fire and Sponaree's water (rather than ice).
  • Four-Legged Insect: Tricwe has four legs. Harylect has six, but it is described as the "Shock Spider Pokémon", meaning that it would need another pair of legs to avert this trope.
  • Glass Cannon: Great Attack and Speed, mediocre defenses and HP.
  • Shock and Awe: Harylect is part Electric-type.

    Costraw and Trawpint
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/trawpint_line.png

A snake-like Pokémon with a sucker for a mouth. It gains a pair of arms and legs upon evolving. Both of them have an eye-like symbol in their chests.

  • Boss in Mook Clothing:
    • There's a single Nuclear Trawpint towards the end of Nuclear Plant Epsilon. While wild Pokémon around the area are in the 15-20 level range, this one is level 30.
    • Again in Nuclear Plant Omicron. Wild Pokémon there will be around level 50. You can find not one but three Nuclear Trawpint at level 75.
  • Jack of All Stats: Decent overall stats minus Attack.
  • Poisonous Person: Part Poison-type.
  • Psychic Powers: Part Psychic-type.
  • Shout-Out: Trawpint is classified as the "the Birdo Pokémon".

    Lunapup and Herolune
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/herolune_line.png

Lunapup is a Ground/Fighting type puppy with a moon theme. With a Moon Stone, it evolves into Herolune, an anthropomorphic wolf dressed as a superhero. It's said they have a strong sense of justice and will protect weaker Pokémon.

  • Always Lawful Good: The Pokédex describes them as heroic and willing to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
  • Arch-Enemy: According to the Pokédex, to the Vilucard line.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Part Fighting-type.
  • Chest Insignia: Herolune has a plate with a crescent moon on its chest.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Part Ground-type.
  • Heroic Dog: In the most literal example. They even wear a mask and a cape.
  • Lunacy: They evolve through a Moon Stone, and have access to the Moonlight move. Fitting, given that Herolune looks like a werewolf.
  • Super Hero: has the style and the traits of your your typical superhero character.

    Minyan and Vilucard
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vilucard_line.png

A pair of Dark/Poison types based on vampires, who love to cause mischief and misfortune among innocents. Herolune often clashes with them.

    Buizel and Floatzel
See here.

    Modrille and Drillgan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/drillgan_line.png

Mole-like Pokémon that have drills on parts of their bodies. As expected, they're commonly found in caves.

  • Casting a Shadow: Part Dark-type. Though they only learn one damage dealing Dark-type move through leveling up.
  • Confusion Fu: Aside from their two types and normal, they also learn Flying, Steel, and Bug-type attacks through leveling up, giving them a fantastic offensive coverage.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Part Ground-type.
  • Glass Cannon: Drillgan has an amazingly high Attack, but mediocre defenses. Upon Mega Evolving, its defenses gain a tiny boost, while getting the highest base attack in the entire game.
  • Shout-Out: Has traces of this towards Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann with the drill theme and the Kamina shades shape on its Mega evolutions stomach.
  • Super Mode: Drillgan can Mega Evolve.
  • This Is a Drill: Their theme. Modrille's tail and large nose are drills. Upon evolving into Drillgann, it loses its drill nose, but gains drills on its fangs and all of its claws. Naturally, they learn many drill-based attacks, like Drill Run, Drill Peck, or Horn Drill.

    Gligar and Gliscor
See here.

    Sableye
See here.

    Cocaran, Caracalm, and Cocancer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cocancer_line.png

A Grass/Ground type Pokémon based on the coconut crab, which takes its name to its literal extreme. Upon evolving, the coconut becomes a palm tree, and then a whole beach.

  • Achilles' Heel: Takes quadruple damage from Ice-type attacks.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: They're part Ground-type.
  • Green Thumb: They're part Grass-type.
  • Magically Inept Fighter: Cocancer ties with Feliger as the fully evolved Pokémon with the lowest Special Attack. Yet half the attacks it learns through leveling up are Special.
  • Making a Splash: They learn a few Water-type moves through leveling up.
  • Mighty Glacier: They have awesome defenses and good Attack, but awful Speed.
  • Pun-Based Creature: Cocaran is a literal coconut crab — as in, a crab hiding inside a coconut shell, wich eventually becomes a giant crab with a coconut palm growing from its back.
  • Signature Mon: Cararalm is Cali's strongest Pokémon when you fight her in her Gym.
  • Turtle Island: Cocancer is a crab that carries a tropical island around on its back.

    Corsola and Corsoreef
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/corsoreef.png
For tropes that apply to Corsola, see here.

When Corsola reaches high enough friendship, it will evolve into Corsoreef.

  • Glass Cannon: Corsoreefs with the ability Sharp Coral will get a x2 boost to their Attack and Special Attack, at the expense of getting their Defense and Special Defense cut in half.
  • The Power of Friendship: Evolve through high friendship.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokémon with the ability Sharp Coral.
  • Stone Wall: Have pretty big defenses, but the rest of its stats are pitiful.

    Tubjaw and Tubareel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tubareel_line.png

Water/Dark-type Pokémon that resemble sharks.

    Cassnail, Sableau, and Escartress
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/escartress_line.png

Water/Ground-type Pokémon based on sea snails, whose shells look like castles or towers.

  • Achilles' Heel: They take quadruple damage from Grass-type attacks. Then again, it's their only weakness.
  • Foil: Its largely the counterpart of the Glaslug line, becoming available at almost the same point in the game and competing for the primary water slot in a party, and each possessing as secondary typing ice and ground respectively, the best offensive typings in the game. Albeit the Glaslug line sports sightly better stats, the Cassnail one makes up with one of the best defensive combinations and more balanced defensive stats.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: They're part Ground-type.
  • Making a Splash: They're part Water-type.
  • Poisonous Person: Based on cone snails, and while not poison types, they do get the option of learning several such moves. Comes in handy to kill grass types which otherwise threaten them too.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokemon in this game which can have the Sand Stream ability.
  • Stone Wall: Mixed defenses, but gigantic HP and a incredible defensive typing as well as access to Recover. It packs a punch too, with access to several ground, poison, and ice moves a coming off an impressive 110 special attack. That being said, it's slow as hell.
  • Terrestrial Sea Life: It's based on aquatic sea snails, which can only survive very, very briefly out of water (unlike other sea life like clams and crabs). However, the line is only found on the beach, not in water.

    Nupin and Gellin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gellin_line.png

Nupin is a Grass/Electric type Pokémon that's made of a single cell. It evolves into the amoeba-like Gellin.

  • Green Thumb: They're part Grass-type.
  • Magikarp Power: Nupin starts with pretty good Special Attack and its typing gives it an amazing offensive coverage. Unfortunately, it has weak defenses and non-existent speed. Fortunately, upon evolving, it gets a huge boost to them (as well as another boost to its Special Attack), and is finally able to take advantage of its offensive power and draining attacks.
  • Mega-Microbes: The Nupin line is classified as the Germ Pokémon, and is described by the Pokédex as the largest single-celled organism on the planet. Averted with Gellin, though.
  • Shock and Awe: They're part Electric-type.

    Cottonee and Whimsicott
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/whimsicott_22.png
For tropes pertaining to their canon portrayals, see here.

  • Adaptational Badass: Whimsicott doesn't have a Mega Evolution in the official games.
  • Mighty Glacier: Whimsicott gets a boost to its defenses and Special Attack upon Mega Evolving.
  • Signature Mon: A Whimsicott is Hinata's strongest mon.
  • Super Mode: Whimsicott has a Mega Evolution here.

    Misdreavus and Mismagius
See here.

    Barand
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/barand.png

A serpentine Dragon-type Pokémon whose tail ends in a hand-like appendage, which is its main from of attack.

  • Glass Cannon: Great Attack and Speed, absolutely atrocious everything else.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Uranium's only pure Dragon-type, which resembles a draconic snake with a hand on its tail.

    Glaslug and Glavinug
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/glavinug_line.png

A Water/Ice Pokémon based on the Glaucus atlanticus sea slug.

  • Expy: Subverted. Seems like it's echoing Dewgong or Lapras, right? Having the same typing, similar body shape and stat spread... but no, it's based on a completely different animal (a sea slug as mentioned above) that has nothing to do with vertebrates — much less cetaceans — and instead of getting psychic and dragon moves like Lapas or bug and ground like Dewgong, it instead gets fairy and poison options.
  • Foil: It's largely the counterpart of the Cassnail line, becoming available at almost the same point in the game and competing for the primary water slot in a party, and each possessing as secondary typing ice and ground respectively, the best offensive typings in the game. Albeit the Glaslug sports sightly better stats, Cassnail makes up with one of the best defensive combinations and more balanced defensive stats.
  • An Ice Person: They're part Ice-type.
  • Making a Splash: They're part Water-type.
  • Weather Manipulation: Their hidden ability is Snow Warning, which summons hail upon entering the battlefield.

    S51 and S51-A
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s51.png

A strange Pokémon that ressembles an UFO. Naturally, it is believed not to be native to this planet. You can't find them in the wild; the only way to get one is to complete Ripley's sidequest on Route 8 at night.

  • Extra-ore-dinary: They're part Steel-type.
  • Little Green Men: S51 is clearly based on this concept, being a small cute green alien piloting a little flying saucer. S51-A is not so little, though.
  • Flying Saucer: they are in the shape and form of typical UFO design a flying saucer.
  • Psychic Powers: They're part Psychic-type.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokémon that can learn Laser Pulse. S51-A is also the only mon in Uranium with the Mega Launcher ability.
  • Signature Mon: A Mega S51-A is Sheldon's strongest mon if you fight him in the Tandor League.
  • Single Specimen Species: as stated on the description you can only encounter one during the game and its only during a side quest.
  • Super Mode: It can Mega Evolve. Also, it's the only Pokémon whose needed item to Mega Evolve, the Unidentified Fallen Object, has a name that does not contain its Pokémon's name or the "-ite" suffix.

    Paraudio and Paraboom
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/paraboom_line.png

A dinosaur-like Pokémon that wears a pair of headphones, and specializes in sound based attacks.

  • Non-Elemental: Part Normal-type.
  • Secret Art: The only line with the Sound Boost ability, which, as the name implies, increases the power of sound-based moves.
  • Psychic Powers: Part Psychic-type.
  • Sonic Scream: Has access to sound-based moves like Uproar, Hyper Voice, or Boomburst. Fittingly, both their abilities relate to this: they can become immune to these type of attacks if they have Soundproof, or increase their power with Sound Boost.

    Flager and Inflagetah
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/inflagetah_line.png

A Fire-type Pokémon that looks like a feline. They're renowned for their superb speed.

  • Action Initiative: Has both Extreme Speed and Flame Impact, and thanks to its Acceleration ability, Extreme Speed has an attack power of 120 as opposed to 80, while Flame Impact has 130 as oposed to a mere 65 (or 97 if one counts STAB).
  • Lightning Bruiser: Ohh boy. Baseline Inflagetah already has base Speed of 150, an Attack of 100, and the Acceleration ability to give its many priority moves an additional boost. Then, upon Mega Evolving, its Speed shoots up to 175, the highest in the whole game, and its attack rises to 145.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Inflagetah seems to be a cross between a cheetah and a gazelle.
  • Playing with Fire: It's a pure Fire-type, and uses fire both in the usual straightforward sense and to represent extreme speed — and, in Inflagetah's Mega form, it directly harnesses its flames to provide itself with turbo boosting.
  • Signature Mon: Tiko's strongest mon, both when you fight him in his Gym as well as in the League (though it will only Mega Evolve in the latter).
  • Starter Mon: Subverted. It was initially planned to be the Fire-type starter, but it was replaced with Raptorch. Probably to avoid having two starters based on felines.
  • Super Mode: Inflagetah can Mega Evolve.

    Chimical and Chimaconda
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chimaconda_line.png

A Fire/Poison type Pokémon that has the body of a feline, purple wings on its back, and a green snake for a tail.

  • Achilles' Heel: Takes quadruple damage from Ground-type moves.
  • Classical Chimera: They're classified as the "Chimera Pokémon", and are lions with wings and a snake for a tail. Chimaconda adds horns to the mix.
  • Confusion Fu: On top of moves of its types and Normal, it can learn Dark and even Electric-type moves through leveling up.
  • Jack of All Stats: Pretty good stats overall except Attack.
  • Playing with Fire: Part Fire-type.
  • Poisonous Person: Part Poison-type.
  • Wings Do Nothing: They have wings, but they aren't Flying-types and don't learn any moves that would use them, like Fly or Steel Wing.

    Tikiki and Frikitiki
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/frikitiki_line.png

Monkey-like Pokémon whose faces are hidden behind tiki masks.

    Unymph and Harptera
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/harptera_line_6.png

Unymph is a Bug-type Pokémon that vaguely looks like a scorpion without its pincers. It can be found mostly in swamps and jungles. It gains a radically different appearance upon evovling into Harptera, on top of gaining the Flying type.

    Chicoalt, Quetzoralt, and Coatlith
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/coatlith_line_0.png

Chicoalt is a bird-like Pokémon covered in feather-like grass. It becomes more serpent-like upon evolving into Quetzoral, while gaining the Flying type. And they shed their remaining avian traits for a more draconic appearance upon reaching their final evolution, Coatlith, as well as trading the Flying type for the Dragon type.

  • Achilles' Heel: They take quadruple damage from Ice-type moves.
  • Blow You Away: Quetzoral is part Flying-type.
  • Feathered Dragons: A line of Dragon-types that resemble draconic creatures with avian feathered and beaks.
  • Feathered Serpent: This line is chiefly based on the Mesoamerican feathered serpent, and Coatlith in particular resembles a green serpent adorned with red feathers and a birdlike beak.
  • Green Thumb: All of them are Grass-type.
  • The Rival: They're often depicted fighting Yatagaryu.
  • Olympus Mons: Subverted. The Pokédex mentions that Coatlith used to be worshipped as such in ancient times, but it was later found it wasn't the case.
  • Squishy Wizard: Good Special Attack, Speed, and HP, but poor defenses.

    Tracton
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tracton_8.png

A mechanical Pokémon that looks like a crane.

    Snopach and Dermafrost
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dermafrost_line.png

One of Tandor's three Fossil Pokémon. They're based on wooly mammoths, but they have traits of other pachyderms as well.

    Slothom and Theriamp
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/theriamp_line.png

One of Tandor's three Fossil Pokémon. They're based on giant sloths.

  • Achilles' Heel: They take quadruple damage from Ground-type attacks.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Part Rock-type.
  • Fragile Speedster: Surprisingly for a sloth, they're pretty fast, mostly lacking in defense.
  • Fossil Revival: The only way to get one is to get a Hair Fossil from Comet Cave.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokemon with the Energizate ability, which converts Normal-type moves into Electric-types and boost their power.
  • Shock and Awe: Part Electric-type.

    Titanice
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/titanice.png

A weird Ice-type Pokémon that looks like a ship half-sunken into an iceberg.

  • An Ice Person: Excluding Glaceon, it's the only pure Ice-type Pokémon in Uranium.
  • Shout-Out: To the RMS Titanic, the (in)famous ship that sunk after crashing into an iceberg.

    Frynai, Saidine, and Daikatuna
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/daikatuna_line.png

Fish Pokémon that swim the sea separating West and East Tandor, based on ninja weaponry. Naturally, they're popular among ninjas.

    Selkid and Syrentide
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/syrentide_line.png

Seafaring Pokémon known for their melodious voices, which can be mistaken for those of human children.

  • Making a Splash: Part Water-type.
  • One-Gender Race: They're exclusively female.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: They're part Fairy-type.
  • Our Sirens Are Different: Based on sirens. The Pokédex says that her voice captivated sailors so much they caused their ships to shipwreck.
  • The Power of Friendship: Selkid evolves into Syrentide when her friendship value is high enough.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: Syrentide has a trident-like hairpiece on her head, and her tail has a golden trident head on it.
  • Selkies and Wereseals: Selkid is naturally based on this.
  • Sirens Are Mermaids: Despite her name, the Pokédex describing sailors being enthralled by their voices (and having attacks such as Sing or Perish Song), and being clasified as the "Siren Pokémon", Syrentide looks more like a mermaid than an actual siren.
  • Stone Wall: Superb Defense and Special Defense, okay Speed and HP, poor Attack and Special Attack. Her defenses become even greater upon Mega Evolving.
  • Super Mode: Syrentide can Mega Evolve.
  • Water Is Womanly: Syrentide is a female Water/Fairy-type based on sirens and mermaids with an enthralling voice.

    Spritzee, Aromatisse, and Miasmedic
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miasmedic.png
For tropes applying to Spritzee and Aromatisse, see here.

When a Spritzee is traded holding an aromatic herb, it will evolve into Miasmedic, gaining the Poison-type on top of its already existing Fairy-type.

  • Combat Medic: As stated by the Pokédex, it can either cause diseases or heal them, and it can learn Heal Pulse on top of an array of offensive moves.
  • Oxymoronic Being: It has the Fairy/Poison dual type. Poison attacks are super effective against Fairy-type Pokémon.
  • Plague Doctor: Miasmedic's dark feathers resemble a plague doctor's cloak and hat, while its large, round-tipped beak and featherless face resemble the classic mask.
  • Poisonous Person: Part Poison-type.
  • Shown Their Work: Aromatic herbs were placed inside the masks of plague doctors to mask the stench of dead bodies; back then, illness was thought to be caused by miasmas, or bad air, and so the herbs were thought to clean the air and keep the plague doctors safe.

    Jackdeary and Winotinger
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wnotinger_line.png

A pink bipedal horned rabbit. They're said to be related to Buneary and Lopunny.

  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Part Fighting-type.
  • Jack of All Stats: Decent stats across the board, with emphasis on HP and Special Attack.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Being based on a jackalope, Jackdeary is a horned rabbit. Winotinger, who is based on a wolpertinger, adds wings to the mix, and is classified as the "Chimerical Pokémon".
  • Our Fairies Are Different: Part Fairy-type.
  • Wings Do Nothing: Winotinger has wings on its back, but it's not a Flying type, and can't learn Fly nor has Levitate.

    Duplicat
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/duplicat.png

A strange catlike creature with four tiny yellow eyes and a tail shaped like the omega symbol.

  • Action Initiative: One of its possible abilities is Prankster, which grants priority to status moves. Given that almost its entire moveset is made of these, it can be quite deadly.
  • Ditto Fighter: Much like Ditto, it can use Transform to mimic the type and moveset of whatever it's currently fighting. Unlike Ditto it doesn't get the mighty Imposter ability to do it immediately, albeit Prankster Transform isn't that far off, and it has the advantage of being able to use its other status moves beforehand.
  • Expy: Of Ditto, being able to use Transform and breed with any Pokémon. However, unlike Ditto, it can learn several moves besides transform, and as explained bellow its repertoire of priority status moves can be very effective, even if Duplicat remains untransformed.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: Its pokedex entry mentions being able to create short lived copies. It can learn Double Team, which does exactly this.
  • No Biological Sex: Duplicat is genderless.
  • Non-Elemental: Normal-type.
  • Not Completely Useless: While obviously key in breeding, Duplicat seems fairly useless in combat... unless you get one with Prankster that is. It grants it priority on status moves, which turns it into a powerful debuffer with a couple other pranks. The variant with Trace is genuinely worthless as a fighter though.
    • It has access through regular level up to Glare and Confuse Ray, as well as being able to learn Toxic by TM to debuff. Thanks to Prankster priority its generally guaranteed to get at least one of these off.
    • It can also learn Protect and Substitute (priority Substitute mind you) as well, allowing it to stall for a bit with Toxic, it just needs to survive its first turn after landing Toxic to begin stalling.
    • It can use priority Copycat, effectively letting it to copy the opponent's move and use it before them, ignoring speed. Due to its low offensive stats this is generally just a last resort, albeit it can also come in very handy for near guaranteed revenge kills on weakened opponents, particularly Dragons or Ghosts.
    • It can use Transform with Prankster, allowing it to turn into the opponent immediately. While this eats up at least one turn, it also grants it the option of using its other crippling moves before transforming, unlike Imposter Ditto who immediately transforms before player imput.
    • Usage of priority Glare and Toxic in particular can be very deadly against some of the late game sweepers, and special mention goes for its usage against Gamma Urayne, the final boss of the game, which devastatingly cripples what is otherwise a mounstrous behemoth into a either slow opponent that takes super effective damage from everything or it rapidly dies from the poisoning, the player just needing to stall for 5 turns (and with a full party this is exactly enough after Duplicat lands Toxic, even it dies right after, meaning its a completely free win).
    • Addicionally, it gets Mirror Coat (which has priority -5 so even Prankster's +1 does not mess with it) so it can blow someone up if the player judged its ability to take an special move well (its defenses are also bad, so the player has to judge it right, albeit it can generally eat one special move if its not coming from a powerful sweeper and it lacks STAB)
  • Voluntary Shapeshifter: It can use Transform to take on the appearance of whichever Pokémon it's fighting. Thanks to Prankster it can have priority too, making for a pseudo Imposter Ditto.

Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Sylveon and Nucleon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nucleon.png
For tropes applying to Eevee and its Eeveelutions minus Nucleon, go here

When Eevee reaches past level 20 with a Nuclear Pokémon in your party, it will evolve into Nucleon. Nucleon is among the few Nuclear Pokémon that won't disobey you.

  • Atomic Superpower: Nuclear-type.
  • Extra Eyes: Nucleon has an additional eye on its forehead.
  • Floating Limbs: Its ears and tail, as well as its bowtie-like appendage, are not connected to its body.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: The Pokédex mentions that the reason Nucleon doesn't succumb to the feral insanity other Nuclear Pokémon fall victim to is due its strong bond with its trainer. Nucleon will never disobey you no matter how badly you tank its friendship stat.
  • The Power of Friendship: According to the Pokédex, its strong bond with its trainer is what allows it to retain its sanity. Not that this translates into gameplay, though.
  • Power Up Letdown: Its Hidden Ability is the extremely circumstantial Geiger Sensenote . Its normal ability, Atomizate, is far more useful.
  • Sailor Earth: A fan-made Eeveelution.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokémon with the Atomizate ability, which turns Normal-type attacks into Nuclear-type ones and boosts their power by 30%.
  • Signature Mon: The only Pokémon that Theo will always possess regardless of his starter.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Barring anything it learned as an Eevee, most of its level-up moves are Nuclear and Normal, and Atomizate turns the latter into the former. TMs don't offer a reprieve either, as everything that isn't Normal is some sort of status move. Although, with Nuclear being strong against everything except itself and Steel, this isn't entirely a bad thing.

    Ratsi and Raffiti
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/raffiti_line.png

Delinquent rats with a love for graffitis. They can generate paint from the tip of their tails.

  • Casting a Shadow: They're pure Dark-types.
  • Delinquent Hair: They have purple, unkempt hair reminiscent of dyed and nonconformist hairdos.
  • Expy: Of Smeargle, down to the way their tails work. Still, they can learn more moves besides Sketch.
  • Eyes Out of Sight: Raffiti's eyes are always hidden by its hair.
  • Secret Art: They're the only Pokémon in the game that can Sketch.
  • You Dirty Rat!: Downplayed. They're stereotypical urban delinquents, but the worst they like to do is vandalize streets.

    Gargryph
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gargriph.png

A gargoyle-like Pokémon.

    Masking and Dramsama
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dramasama_line.png

A strange Pokémon that looks like a weird bird, but is anything but.

  • Achilles' Heel: Dramsama and its regular mega evolution takes quadruple damage from both Ghost and Dark-type moves. Its Dark mega evolution, on the other hand, takes quadruple damage from Bug-type moves.
  • Eyes Do Not Belong There: Dramsama's tails have eyes on them. See Your Soul Is Mine! below to see why.
  • Psychic Powers: Both are Psychic-types.
  • Shout-Out: According to the game's creator, they're based off of the King from Hatoful Boyfriend: The Winter Star.
  • Signature Mon: Dramsama is Rosalind's strongest mon, both during her Gym battle and League battle.
  • Soul Power: Dramsama is part Ghost-type, though it loses it in its Dark mega evolution.
  • Squishy Wizard: Great Special Attack and Speed, poor defenses and HP.
  • Super Mode: Dramsama has 2 distinct mega evolutions: While its regular mega simply makes it bigger and more ornate, its Dark mega become an writhing, eldritch mass of souls, seeping out of the ground beneath it and even from its chest.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifter: It can learn Transform.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Dramsama's tails represents each of the souls it has absorbed.

    Antarki
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/antarki.png

A Pokémon that looks like a purple scorpion clutching a ball of fire.

  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite its creepy appearance, it is said Antarki helps lost souls to reach the afterlife.
  • Playing with Fire: Part Fire-type.
  • Late Character Syndrome: Easily the most severe case in the game, as they only appear (at a tiny 5% rate no less) on the final portion of the Victory Road.
  • Shout-Out: To Hatoful Boyfriend: The Winter Star, specifically referencing the original King of the Winter Star, who was trapped inside a lantern.
  • Soul Power: Part Ghost-type.

    Chupacho and Luchabra
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/luchabra_line.png

A Poison-type Pokémon based on a Chupacabra. Upon evolving, it acquires a wrestler motif as well as the Fighting-type.

    Linkite and Chainite
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chainite_line.png

A Ghost-type Pokémon fromed from the spirit of a Pokémon that died inside its Poké Ball. It doesn't remember what it used to look, and so it takes the form of a substitute doll chained to a Poké Ball. Upon being traded away, it will evolve into Chainite, spurred by the sheer hatred for the trainer who dared to give it away to somebody else.

  • Casting a Shadow: Chainite is also part Dark-type.
  • Glass Cannon: Huge Attack, okay HP, poor everything else.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: Ghost-types who are literally the restless spirits of dead Pokémon.
  • The Power of Hate: When a trainer trades a Linkite, the Pokémon feels it's being abandoned, and develops an intense hatred for said trainer, which triggers its evolution into Chainite.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: It can have Shadow Tag as its ability.

    Pufluff, Alpico and Anderind
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pufluff_line.png

Pufluff is an Ice/Fairy dual type small, furry, white and blue rabbit-like Pokémon that lives in snowy areas despite being always cold and shivering. It has two possible evolutions, decided by its stats once it reaches level 38: if its Speed is greater than its Attack, it will evolve in Alpico, a slim rabbit-like Pokémon that uses its two tails as skis. If its Attack is greater than its Speed, it will evolve into Anderind, a bulkier and stockier rabbit-like Pokémon that uses its tail as a snowboard, and trades the Fairy type for the Ground type.

    Colarva, Frosluo and Frosthra
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/frosthra_line.png

Bug/Ice dual-typed Pokémon that live in cold mountains. Frosthra is considered a valuable Pokémon for their rarity, beauty and power.

  • Achilles' Heel: They take quadruple damage from Rock and Fire-type attacks.
  • An Ice Person: Part Ice-type.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Part Bug-type.
  • Confusion Fu: They can learn Psychic, Ghost and Flying-type attacks through leveling up.
  • Expy: Zigzagged. They may remind you of Snom and Frosmoth, but they predate them by several years. They are however expies to Larvesta and Volcarona, both being giant moths with high special attack, special defense and speed stats, only differences is this evolution line having three members, and being Ice type instead of Fire.
  • Poor, Predictable Rock: It has an absolute dogshit movepool, which is very glaring next to its inspiration, Volcarona, which in turns has very ample options. Frosthra is instead almost entirely restricted to its native Ice and Bug, the only bit of flexibility it gets is Hurricane, but its only learn at wooping level 80.
  • Secret Art: The only line that can learn the Move Ice Ball. Frosthra is also the only mon with the Deep Freeze ability.
  • Squishy Wizard: Amazing Special Attack, really good Speed, good Special Defense, but low Defense and HP. Sightly mitigated by its highly threatening ability, Deep Freeze, which has a high chance of outright freezing (aka the most dangerous status condition in the game)

    Fafurr and Fafninter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fafninter_line.png

A stag-like Pokémon with a white coat of fur on its head and back that lives in cold mountains.

  • An Ice Person: Part Ice-type.
  • Infinity -1 Sword: Only ten points shy of having the same BST of a Pseudo-Legendary, yet it can be caught long before any of them. Hell it has better movepool options than them and some of the best defensive abilities in the game, so they are basically considered to be straight up better than the Pseudos.
  • Badass Adorable: They are very, very cute, even the evolved form. Also one of the strongest mons in the game.
  • Jack of All Stats: All their stats minus Defense are great, and even this is dramatically mitigated by their high HP and abilities.
  • Magic Knight: Both their Attack and Special Attack are superb, though the former is a little higher. Access to Dragon Dance encourages a more physical moveset however.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Hairy, leopard-spotted and antlered Dragon-types named after the legendary dragon Fafnir.
  • Removed Achilles' Heel: Fur Coat halves damage from physical moves, which covers almost all fighting, rock and steel attackers. Their other ability, Thick Fat, turns Fire and Ice -which they are neutral to- to full on resistances.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokémon with the abilities Thick Fat and Fur Coat.

    Shrimputy and Krilvolver
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kirivolver_line.png

A gun-toting shrimp with a cowboy motif.

  • The Gunslinger: The Pokédex describes them as having near perfect reaction times and excellent accuracy with a gun.
  • Making a Splash: Part Water-type.
  • Late Character Syndrome: You can only get one in the diving portion of Route 14, that is, the route just before the very final Gym. So you get to use them just for Tsukimi's gym, the last Nuclear Plants and the League.
  • Playing with Fire: Part Fire-type.
  • Oxymoronic Being: A Water-type Pokémon that's also part Fire-type.
  • Squishy Wizard: Superb Special Attack, mediocre HP, very weak Special Defense.

    Lavent
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lavent.png

A Pokémon that looks like a cross between a moray eel and a vent worm. Despite not being a Water-type, it can only be found underwater.

  • Glass Cannon: If you get one with Adaptability this thing hits like a truck, but with 70/70/70 its still made of paper mache. That being said, Dragon/Fire is an excelent defensive typing so it can safely switch in against a lot of things, but don't expect it to last much longer at all.
  • Late Character Syndrome: You can only get one in the diving portion of Route 14, that is, the route just before the very final Gym. So you get to use a Lavent just for Tsukimi's gym, the last Nuclear Plants and the League.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: A mix between a moray and a vent worm.
  • Mundane Utility: Magma Armor Lavent is near useless in combat, pathetically overshadowed by one with Adaptability... but it massively speeds up egg hatching, which is a very handy trick.
  • Playing with Fire: Part Fire-type.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: A fire-breathing, eel-like Dragon-type that lives in underwater geothermal vents.
  • Squishy Wizard: Good Special, okay Speed, poor defenses and HP.

    Swabone, Skelerogue and Navighast
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/navighast_line.png

A line of Pokémon based on undead pirates.

  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Part Fighting-type.
  • Fog Feet: Navighast has a tail of blue fog instead of legs. Fittingly, it has the Levitate ability.
  • Hook Hand: Swabone and Skelerogue's right hands end in natural bony hooks. In Navighast, this turns into a built-in cutlass.
  • Ghost Pirate: Skeletal ghosts based on nautical themes, complete with hook hands and peg legs.
  • Magic Knight: They have both pretty good Attack and Special Attack. Most of their level-up moveset is physical, though.
  • Late Character Syndrome: You can only get one on the island Route 14, that is, the route just before the very final Gym. So you get to use them just for Tsukimi's gym, the last Nuclear Plants and the League.
  • Seadog Peg Leg: Skelerogue's right leg ends in a bony peg. This is lost when it evolves into Navighast and its legs turn into Fog Feet.
  • Useless Useful Spell: Swabone and Skelerogue have the Scrappy ability, which allows them to hit Ghost-types with Normal- and Fighting-type moves. The thing is, being Ghost-type themselves, they should use Ghost-type attacks, which deal super effective damage against other Ghosts.

    Stenowatt
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stenowatt.png

An Electric-type Pokémon based on a theropod.

  • Fragile Speedster: Very fast, but with poor defenses and HP.
  • Late Character Syndrome: You can get one on the island on Route 14 and Victory Road. So even if you get them as early as possible in Route 14, you still only you get to use them just for Tsukimi's gym, the last Nuclear Plants and the League.
  • Raptor Attack: It's classified as the "Raptor Pokémon".
  • Shock and Awe: Pure Electric-type, albeit it gets quite a few bug moves as well.

    Jungore and Majungold
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/majungold_line.png

The last of the three Tandor Fossil Pokémon, and the only one not based on a prehistoric mammal, but on a dinosaur instead.

    Hagoop and Haagross
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/haagross_line.png

A family of goopy Electric/Poison-type Pokémon based on hagfish.

  • Blessed with Suck: Nuclear Hagoop/Haagross is one of the worst nuclear lines variants, as due to how Nuclear types work if they aren't fast they are pretty much useless. And to top it off it loses its powerful electric typing and can't ever
  • Heal Thyself: The line gets Recover, and it can have Regenerator as its hidden ability as well.
  • Life Drain: Part of its design calls upon leeches too, which is well reflected on the the line's access to several draining moves, naturally learning Parabolic Charge and being able to obtain Giga Drain and Drain Life through TM and breeding respectively.
  • Mighty Glacier: They have unimpressive speed (albeit not entirely awful), but fantastic special defense and special attack. With Acid Armor and Calm Mind they can get even tankier. As mentioned above the line has very ample access to different life steal and self healing options as well.
  • Poisonous Person: Part Poison-type. Notably it keeps this part of its typing in their nuclear variant.
  • Shock and Awe: Part Electric-type.
  • Secret Art: The only ones that can learn the move Sticky Terrain and the Gooey ability.
  • Useless Useful Spell: The line has access to the coveted Sucker Punch, which is extremely limited in Uranium... sadly it works off the attack stat, which even Haagross only has a pitiful 65 and with no STAB. Considering they are already competing with several other powerful offensive and defensive options, Sucker Punch is next to useless.

    Xenomite, Xenogen and Xenoqueen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/xenoqueen_line.png

A line of powerful Nuclear-type Pokémon. Their origin is unknown, but it is believed that the first Xenomite spawned from the egg of another Pokémon that was corrupted by nuclear radiation.

  • Atomic Superpower: They're pure Nuclear-types.
  • Mutants: The line is classified as the "Mutant Pokémon".
  • Non-Indicative Name: While they're rare, it's possible for a Xenoqueen to be male.
  • Xenomorph Xerox: Every stage of the line directly parallels a stage of the Xenomorph in Alien: Xenomite is based on the Facehugger, Xenogen on the adult Xenomorph, an Xenoqueen on the Alien Queen.

    Hazma
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hazma.png

A small Nuclear Pokémon that looks like a little dinosaur wearing a hazmat suit and a gas mask. They feed off of radiation, and are thus able to purify areas tainted by it, as well purifying corrupted Nuclear Pokémon.

  • Armless Biped: Though they did have arms in an earlier version, which looked like the mechanical tentacles of Dr. Octopus.
  • Atomic Superpower: Nuclear-type.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Their Lead Skin ability and Secret Art Expunge makes them excellent at dealing with other Nuclear Pokémon, and little else thanks to their subpar stats.
  • Line-of-Sight Name: They're first discovered by the player and Theo when they have more pressing issues, so odds are they went with the fact that it looks like it's wearing a hazmat suit and called it a day.
  • No-Sell: Their Lead Skin ability makes them immune to Nuclear-type attacks.
  • Phlebotinum Muncher: It's said to eat radiation, making them ideal for cleaning out irradiated areas.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokémon to learn Expunge by level up, which is unique among Nuclear-type moves in that it does double damage to Nuclear-type Pokémon

    Geigeroach
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/geigeroach.png

A Bug/Nuclear dual type Pokémon that looks like a giant cockroach. Geigeroach is the only dual-type Nuclear Pokémon that does not have a non-Nuclear form, as well as the only dual typed Nuclear Pokémon that will never disobey you

  • Achilles' Heel: Their typing makes them take quadruple damage from no less than three types: Flying, Fire and Rock.
  • Atomic Superpower: Part Nuclear-type.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Part Bug-type.
  • Creepy Cockroach: The "roaches are immune to radiation" variant; they're one of only two Pokémon, the other being Hazma, to be completely immune to Nuclear-type moves thanks to the Lead Skin ability.
  • No-Sell: Their Lead Skin ability makes them immune to Nuclear-type attacks.
  • Shout-Out: While "radioactive cockroach" is by itself a rather generic trope, their classification as the "Radroach Pokémon" references a common enemy in the Fallout games.

    Minicorn, Kiricorn and Oblivicorn
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/minicorn_line.png

An adorable Normal/Fairy Pokémon based on an unicorn. It can evolve into Kirincorn with a Shiny Stone, becoming even more beautiful. However, if exposed to a Dusk Stone, it will lose all its cuteness and evolve into the terrifying Oblivicorn, replacing its Normal type with the Dark type.

  • Casting a Shadow: Oblivicorn is part Dark-type.
  • Floating Limbs: Mega Kiricorn has three rhomboid-shaped blue crystals floating at each side, almost looking like wings.
  • Fragile Speedster: Both evolutions exceed at Attack and Speed, but lack defenses and HP.
  • Late Character Syndrome: Downplayed, Professor Bamb'o will give you a Minicorn egg if you catch fifty Pokémon. This is quite the chore, but fairly doable by a player to simply tries to catch the regular wild mons in every route. You can easily get one around the fourth or fifth gym.
  • Hellish Horse: Oblivicorn is a dark, fearsome and Red and Black and Evil All Over version of a more benevolent unicorn.
  • Kirin: Kiricorn is a deerlike creature with a thick mane, a long hairy tail, a single blue antler and an additional pair of curving horns. Its alternate evolution, Oblivicorn, keeps most of the same motifs but with a darker and more malevolent appearance.
  • Magic Knight: Mega Kiricorn has both great Attack and Special Attack.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Kiricorn is, as the name suggests, a mix between a Kirin and an Unicorn.
  • Non-Elemental: Minicorn and Kiricorn are part Normal-type.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: All of them are part Fairy-type.
  • Signature Mon: Maria's strongest Mon if you face her in the League.
  • Super Mode: Kiricorn can Mega Evolve. Oblivicorn was given a Mega Evolution as well in patch 1.3.
  • Unicorn: Minicorn is based on the medieval image of deer-legged, lion-tailed unicorns with curving horns, while Kiricorn is a Kirin and Oblivicorn is a dark version of the former.

    Luxi, Luxor and Luxelong
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/luxelong_line.png

An extremely rare Pokémon that looks like a dog with draconic features. It is said that merely seeing one brings lots of luck.

  • Delightful Dragon: Unlike most other dragons, this line is cute in appearance and has a very gentle personality.
  • Late Character Syndrome:
    • Worse than Minicorn. You're given a Luxi egg from Porfessor Bamb'o if you catch 100 Pokémon. Unlike Minicorn's 50, hitting 100 is a huge effort not easily achievable until fairly late in the game, at best you can push it by agressively evolving and breeding several mons but thats immensively time consuming and still very hard to achieve before the 6th gym. By the time you naturally reach that number, you're probably close to the ending of the main campaign.
    • Averted if you transfer a save file from the game's beta, where you're given a Level 5 Luxi before the first gym.
  • Luck Manipulation Mechanic: Has the Super Luck ability, which increases chances of critical hits. Fitting for a Pokémon that is said to bring good luck. However, it lacks attacks with a crit boosted ratio on top of having a special spread which works against the usual crit boosted moves. Being able to learn Focus Energy and giving it a Scope Lens makes it a lot more effective at criting however.
  • The Power of Friendship: Luxi evolves into Luxor when its friendship is high enough.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: A Dragon-type that resembles a draconic version of Chinese temple dog statues.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: Part Fairy-type.
  • Secret Art: It's the only line to have the Super Luck ability.

    Praseopunk and Neopunk
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/punk_brothers.png

A weird pair of Pokémon that emerged from a computer. They're stronger when they fight together.

  • Psychic Powers: Both are part Psychic-type.
  • Recurring Element: A pair of Pokémon that are technically unrelated but form a strongly linked thematic set.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokémon to possess the Get Lucky and Instant Crush attacks, and Plus and Minus abilities.
  • Shock and Awe: Both are part Electric-type.
  • Shout-Out: To Daft Punk, in both appearance and names. Hell, their shared Secret Art are called "Get Lucky" and "Instant Crush".
  • Wonder Twin Powers: They have the Plus and Minus abilities, raising their Special Attack by 50% when they're together in a double battle.

    Sheebit, Terrabit and Laissure
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/laissure_line.png

One of Tandor's three pseudo-legendary Pokémon. A Ground-type that looks like a mix between a rabbit and a sheep that likes to roam through mountains.

    Volchik, Voltasu and Yatagaryu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yatagayru_line.png

One of Tandor's three pseudo-legendary Pokémon. A powerful beast that can summon thunderstorms. It is strongly revered by ninjas.

  • Blow You Away: Volchick and Voltasu are part Flying-type.
  • Late Character Syndrome: In order to get one, you have to complete a sidquest that's only available after you get to the town with the 8th gym. And you get it at level 1, when most of your party will be in the 60s.
  • The Rival: They're often depicted fighting Coatlith.
  • Feathered Dragons: Yatagayru is a Dragon-type Pokémon that resembles a serpentine, three-legged bird.
  • Mythical Motifs: Voltasu and Yatagaryu are based on the three-legged crow, a being said to inhabit the sun in a number of East Asian mythologies.
  • Secret Art: They're the only line that can learn the Thunderstorm attack. Yatagayru is also the only Pokémon with the Stormbringer ability, which causes a Thunderstorm upon entering the field.
  • Shock and Awe: All of them are Electric-types.
  • Squishy Wizard: Donwplayed. It has huge Special Attack and Speed, and okay HP and defenses.
  • Weather Manipulation: Yatagayru will create a thunderstorm upon entering the battlefield, increasing the power of Electric-type moves and guaranteeing that Thunder will always hit.

    Devimp, Fallengel and Beliaddon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/beliaddon_line.png

One of Tandor's three pseudo-legendary Pokémon, resembling demons. They live in areas packed with lava.

  • Big Red Devil: They resemble red-skinned, armor-plated and horned devils, albeit reptilian ones, with flames burning above their heads.
  • Casting a Shadow: They're part Dark-type.
  • Dragons Are Demonic: Inverted; the Devimp line are clearly labeled as demons but also resemble dragons.
  • Fallen Angel: Averted, but referenced by Fallengel's name, a portemanteu of Fallen and Angel, referencing the fact that fallen angels usually end up demons after falling.
  • Late Character Syndrome: Devimp can only be caught in Victory Road, at a very low level. Not helped that Beliaddon evolves at level 72.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Fallengel's Pokédex entry mentions that they have no moral compass of their own and will always carry out their master's orders, no matter how henious.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Despite not being Dragon-type, they are winged, fire-breathing reptilians that look very draconic, and superficially resemble another line of draconic Fire-types that lack the actual Dragon typing - the Charizard line. In fact, Beliaddon was originally conceived as Fire/Dragon before being added to the game as Fire/Dark.
  • Playing with Fire: Part Fire-type.
  • Secret Art: The only line that can use the Infernal Blade move, as well as the Disenchant ability.

    Seikamater
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/seikamater.png

This legendary Pokémon is the queen of all bugs in Tandor, and it's said to be the mother of every Smore, Sponee and Tricwe. She lives in the depths of the Anthell, where she spends most of the time hibernating. She wakes up once every couple years to lay eggs, and when this happens, her workers go into a food collecting frenzy in order to keep her well fed, making the Anthell an extremely dangerous place.

To obtain one, a trainer must catch a female Smore, Sponee or Tricwe, and level them up to 45 or higher while holding the Royal Jelly item.

  • All Your Powers Combined: Firoke, Sponaree and Harylect have power over an element each. Seikamater has all three of them, as well as access to much better moves. That being said there are several moves exclusive to each of the 3 bug lines she can evolve from, so evolving her from an especific one is desirable.
  • Anti-Frustration Features: Smore, Sponee and Tricwe only evolve into their regular advanced forms when they know a particular move and reach level 20. When you're trying to go for Seikamater, you have to advance towards 45 instead, while holding Royal Jelly. The fact that the 3 base bugs only evolve if they have a particular move means that the player can quickly overwrite/delete it, making sure that there is no chance for the bugs to accidentally evolve into their regular evolutions, as well as taking some annoyance out of having to cancel an evolution every level.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: You won't find a Bug type bigger than this one on Tandor.
  • Boss Battle: You have to fight against one at the end of the Anthell in order to save Tiko. Sadly, you aren't allowed to catch her. However, upon defeat she drops the Royal Jelly item, which allows you to raise your own Seikamater.
  • Confusion Fu: She can run almost anything she wants, having access to five sources of STAB damage, ginormous bulk, access to the immensively powerful Quiver Dance and she can even run a physical moveset with Swords Dance if you evolved her from Tricwe. She has by far the widest movepool of the game (barring Raffiti/Ratsy) which is so vast there is only a handful of TM's and tutor moves that she can't learn. And as if it wasn't wide enough her regular moves through level up and her previous evolution is also quite good.
  • Disk One Nuke: You can get her as early as right before the 5th gym (albeit realistically you should be evolving her around the 6th one instead) and she's perfectly capable of trivializing the game onwards. She's an allmighty legendary pokemon with stats to match, has one of the best abilities in the game and access to an absurdly wide movepool, meaning you can retool her on a moments whim to fit any issue. To top it off, none of the remaining gyms have an advantage against her typing note , while she can supereffectively hit almost all of them with STAB no less. Her only weak point in the game is the final Nuclear Plant. Due to the way Nuclear pokemon are set up being faster than them is extremely important, and Seikamater is unfortunately fairly slow, on top of Nuclear Plant Zeta being a long and grueling trek.
  • Fire, Ice, Lightning: Replace Ice with Water, though. On top of having access to attacks of those three elements, her ability Elementalist gives her STAB bonus on them.
  • Hive Queen: The queen and progenitor of all insects of Tandor.
  • Magikarp Power: Smore, Sponee and Tricwe are rather weak Pokémon, and their standard evolutions aren't that much better. However, if you're patient enough to first catch a female one (their male to female ratio is 8:1 so it's quite a bit of work even on Anthell) and then to raise them to level 45 with the Royal Jelly on them, you will have this monster of a bug at your beck and call.
  • Mighty Glacier: Spectacular bulk and good offenses, but with only 60 base speed shes fairly slow. Can be somewhat remedied with Quiver Dance however.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: She has elements of a moth, a dragonfly, an ant queen and bee.
  • Non-Elemental: Part Normal-type.
  • Olympus Mons: A Legendary Pokémon. However, it is possible to have many of them without cheating the game. Royal Jelly isn't a Key Item either, so it can be traded over. You only get one Royal Jelly per save though, but due to the fact that Uranium supports multiple save files and trading with them, it is possible (if extremely time consuming) to farm several.
  • Secret Art: The only Pokémon in this game to have the attacks Attack Order, Defend Order and Heal Order, as well as the Elementalist ability.
  • Shown Their Work: The way she evolves is accurate to how insect queens are made in Real Life.

    Garlikid
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/garlikid.png

A Legendary Pokémon and self-appointed hero of all Pokémonkind.

    Baitatao, Leviathao and Krakanao
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sea_monster_trio.png

Called the Sea Monster Trio, these — a sea serpent, a great whale and a colossal octopus — Pokémon roam the seas of Tandor.

Note: These Pokémon aren't available yet

  • An Ice Person: Leviathao is part Ice-type.
  • Casting a Shadow: Krakanao is part Dark-type.
  • Giant Squid: Krakanao resembles a giant, monstrous octopus.
  • Kraken and Leviathan: Immense, powerful monsters that roam the ocean. The cetacean Leviathao and cephalopod Krakanao are directly based on the two eponymous beings.
  • Making a Splash: All of them are part Water-type.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Leviathao is a cross between a whale and a narwhal.
  • Monster Whale: Leviathao is a gigantic narwhal-like sea monster.
  • Olympus Mons: Three legendary Pokémon constantly a war with one another to rule over the Seas of Tandor.
  • Playing with Fire: Baitatao is part Fire-type.
  • Red Baron: Each member has one.
    • Baitatao is called the Boiling Wrath.
    • Leviathao is called the Unstoppable Spear.
    • Krakanao is called the Inescapable Maelstrom.
  • Sea Monster: Not only are they called the 'Sea Monster Trio', but each one is based off of different types of Sea monsters.
  • Sea Serpents: Baitatao is a giant serpent that can be found deep within the sea trenches of East Tandor.
  • Secret Art: They are the only ones who can learn the move Ocean's Wrath.
  • Skeleton Motif: Krakanao has a skull on its head, similar to one a pirate flag would have.

The game's mascot, a manmade Legendary Pokémon that has the power to split atoms. It has three forms, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma, each one more powerful than the one before, but players can't access its Gamma form. The storyline of Pokémon Uranium revolves around this Pokémon.

  • Atomic Superpower: Nuclear-type.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: After you defeat it for the final time, it will join your party.
  • Final Boss: Gamma Urayne is the last battle of Uranium's main story.
  • Horror Hunger: It's plagued by an insiatiable hunger for radioactive metals. At the end of the story, Actan cures it of its hunger by stabilizing its core.
  • Olympus Mons: Could be considered the "Box Legendary".
  • Secret Art: Several; is the only Pokémon that can access the moves Atomic Punch and Quantum Leap, and Gamma Urayne is the only Pokémon with the Chernobyl ability.
  • Signature Mon: Of CURIE.
  • Walking Wasteland: Gamma Urayne has the "Chernobyl" ability, which summons a nuclear fallout when it enters battle.

A pair of mysterious Pokémon that are revered as gods of Tandor.

Note: These Pokémon aren't available yet

  • Blow You Away: Aotius is part Flying-type.
  • Dragons Up the Yin Yang: They aren't Dragon-types, but they're draconic in appearance, plus they're the "Yang Pokémon" and "Yin Pokémon", respectively.
  • Feathered Serpent: Aotius is a white serpent with multiple orange feathered wings.
  • Interface Screw: Their power apparently affects the in-game interface, as their Pokédex entries are "W H I T E L I G H T S H I N E S" and "B L A C K S H A D E P R O T E C T S" rather than the usual two-three sentence descriptions.
  • Making a Splash: Mutios is part Water-type.
  • Olympus Mons: To the point of being revered as gods in Tandor, with people believing that they are Creator dieties and are believed to have created all parallel forces in the universe such as Push and Pull, Past and Future, Yin and Yang, etc. An NPC in the late game even says that all other Legendary Duos, such as Ho-oh and Lugia, Xerneas and Yveltal, Reshiram and Zekrom, etc, are all meagrely aspects of the two of them.
  • Our Angels Are Different: Aotius uses signficant angelic symbolism, and is particularly reminescent of the seraphim. Like them, it is a multi-winged celestial being that uses one of its pairs of wings to cover its face. Additionally, the hebrew "saraph" is often translated as "serpent", particularly in reference to the "fiery flying serpents" mentioned in Isaiah — and, similarly, Aotius is a Flying/Fire-type serpent.
  • Red Baron: Aotius, the God of Light. Mutioas, Goddess of Darkness.
  • Playing with Fire: Aotius is part Fire-type.
  • Soul Power: Mutios is part Ghost-type.
