Fridge Brilliance
- Shiny Pokémon are far more common in this game than in the main series because the increased radiation, even if not enough to be harmful (apart from a few hazard zones near the failed plants), does enough damage to DNA over time to make the mutations that code for the unique colors more likely.
- Corrupted Nuclear Pokémon can't breed. The amount of radiation it takes to corrupt them like that is also sufficient to render them sterile.note
- Pokémon that are Nuclear from the start — Nucleon, Hazma, Geigeroach, and the Xenomite line — are capable of reproduction, with the former bearing normal Eevees and the others bearing their own species (or the first evolution in the Xenomite line's case). If the Nuclear type is a natural part of them, it stands to reason that their bodies would be evolved — in the Darwinian sense — to remain fertile despite their natural radioactivity.
- Actan falling victim to The Worf Effect when you use it in battle against Gamma Urayne (the former is five levels weaker, much slower, and weak to Urayne's Overheat) is actually a subtle case of Gameplay and Story Integration — you first fight Actan in its Nuclear form, meaning it'd already lost to Urayne before. Makes sense that it'd fail again.
- One book found in the game claims that Reshiram and Zekrom are thought to be the creators of all by Unovians. This contradicts canon legendary lore, but this isn't necessarily a mistake; in our world, even two stories from the same kind of mythology can contradict one another.
- Hazma's name is pretty unimaginative; it's just one letter off from Hazmat, implying Line-of-Sight Name was in full effect as whoever named just went with the fact that it looks like it's wearing a Hazmat Suit. Consider when it's discovered and by whom; the Player Character and Theo stumble upon a grove of them while racing to apprehend CURIE. Considering they're a couple of kids with more pressing issues at hand, it makes perfect sense that they'd just go with the first thing to come to mind.
- While this probably isn't Theo's rationale (at least we hope not), from an outside perspective, his assumption that he'd just be the best by default makes sense when you recall that Anime protagonists are the ones with the crazy hair colors; Theo has the craziest hair color in the game—bright red with a yellow stripe—and we know this is natural because his father has it as well. You, on the other hand, have plain old brown hair, presumably inherited from your father since your mother is shown in a flashback to have sea green hair (and she could use hair dye for all we know). If Pokémon Uranium was an anime series, everyone would assume at first that Theo was the protagonist that couldn't catch a break.
Fridge Horror
- Seikamater is the one wild Pokémon we encounter that is impossible to capture. The first time in the main series this happens is fighting Kyruem in Black 2 & White 2, where this is accomplished via a jamming signal that prevents Pokéballs from working. How powerful is that Seikamater that she can apparently replicate this or at least do something similar?
- Dawn Wings/Dusk Mane Necrozma, and later Ultra Necrozma, do the same thing in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, and all Totem Pokémon do it in both Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon.
- If you lose the first CURIE fight, the Game Over text says you and Theo were never heard of again. On top of Kellyn having lost his child while still not fully recovered from losing his wife (and he will likely be expected to lead the rescue and recovery efforts regardless of his emotional state), Cameron will eventually wake up from his coma only to learn that the son he risked his life to protect was still lost to CURIE anyway.
- Even if Tandor was the only area to get hit with 100 years of Nuclear Winter if you lose the second CURIE fight, the Game Over text for that one also describes Tandor as being overrun with Nuclear Pokémon. Since we see Nuclear Gyarados earlier in the game, we know the massive amount of radiation can enter the ocean. If Gamma Urayne survives that initial thermonuclear explosion and continues to output radiation, the oceans would gradually become irradiated as the radiation circulated via ocean currents and the Nuclear water-type Pokémon migrated. To say nothing about what could happen if the radiation entered the global water cycle. We could be looking at Planetary Multi-Species Extinction and consequent Planetary Societal Disruption at best if they don't find some other way to dispatch Urayne and fast after you lose.
- Losing the first CURIE fight specifies that you and Theo were simply never heard from again. The second, though more detailed, doesn't mention you either way. Best case scenario you met a quick end at ground zero of Urayne's thermonuclear detonation. Worst case? For the latter, a long drawn-out death by radiation sickness giving you ample time to lament your failure. For the former, CURIE probably chucking you into the same stasis tank as Theo to live out that moment of despair for eternity; and given what happens to the region immediately after, your odds of being rescued are slim. Considering CURIE seemed to look forward to your reaction upon losing all hope, it's probably a safe assumption that she didn't go the merciful route in either case.
- Most of the Mystery Gift Pokémon have joke encounter locations, either holiday-themed or something silly, like the 2nd Anniversary Cassnail being from "The Bealbeach Bakery". However, the Halloween 2018 Mystery Gift event included a Frankenstein's Baashaun with an encounter location that exists in the game itself. The location? Larkspur's Lab. What the Distortion World did Larkspur do to the poor thing?!
- Thanks to her former status as champion, Maria has to deal with a Stalker that went out of his way to make copies of her house key, and who she apparently has a restraining order against judging by his comment that he can't go to her house because reasons (his words). Is this something the Player Character, who is 13 mind you, will have to deal with as not only the champion but regional hero? Suddenly the main series trend of Dude, Where's My Respect? doesn't sound so bad.
Fridge Sadness
- Theo comments during the championship that the Player Character being less prone to being brushed off as Just a Kid than he was likely had less to do with them being a bit older and more to do with them being more mature. This becomes a lot less heartwarming when you consider that the PC was three when a nuclear accident took their mom, and it was likely less than a year before their father abandoned them.note The PC being more mature was likely a result of that trauma forcing them to mentally "grow up" much faster than Theo had to.
