Given that it became the first movie to gross $1 billion at the box-office, and that it remained the highest-grossing movie in the world for twelve years until it was beaten by James Cameron's subsequent non-documentary movie Avatar, Titanic has, of course, inspired a lot of references since it was first released in 1997.

  • Case Closed: In The Twenty Year Old Murderous Intent: The Symphony Serial Murder Case, Ran approaches the bow of the ship and stretches her arms while shouting "I'm the king of the world!". Kogoro and Conan, who were watching her, lampshade this and express concern that her actions are Tempting Fate and the cruise ship might end up sinking. (it didn't sink; murders took place instead).
  • Sonic X: In "Emerald Anniversary", when Bocoe is chasing after Tails, they end up on the set of Titanic, specifically on the titular ship. When Bocoe falls off the ship, Tails quickly grabs the former and holds him similarly to how Jack held Rose in the movie... only for the fox to drop the robot from the ship.
  • In episode 9 of Tamagotchi! Yume Kira Dream, Himespetchi has a daydream about her crush Mametchi where the two are on a boat and, at one point, do the "queen of the world" thing.

    Asian Animation 
  • Bread Barbershop: In "Butter Fingers", Butter and a woman re-enact the "I'm flying" scene as part of a film shooting.
  • Happy Heroes:
    • In Season 7 episode 32, the characters go on a vacation on a cruise ship, lending itself to several references to Titanic (Ambassadors Wang and Miao stand on the edge of the ship recreating the famous scene from the film, and in the episode's climax the cruise ship hits an iceberg and starts sinking).
    • In Season 7 episode 35, Kalo sees a scene in a movie playing in a theater parodying the "queen of the world" scene.

  • Dennis The Menace In Cruise Control: While on the cruise ship, Dennis climbs atop the ship's bow and stretches out his arms as he shouts, "I'm king of the world!" before a seagull poops on his head.
  • Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie: Olga shouts "I'm queen of the world!" while on the boat.
  • Ice Age: When the gang is sliding through the ice cave, Sid yells into Manny's trunk, "Captain, iceberg ahead!"
  • Osmosis Jones: As Frank succumbs to a fever and the cells start panicking, a violin quartet plays.
  • Quest for a Heart: When the Rollis are riding their Röllimobile across the pink meadows, Millie stretches her arms out and exclaims that she's the king of the world. The Rollis think she's crazy.
  • Rugrats Go Wild!: While on Stu's boat, Angelica shouts "I'm queen of the world!"
  • Shark Tale: A life-preserver from the R.M.S. Titanic is seen at Frankie's funeral. A few moments later at the reception, Don Feinberg announces he's gonna sing "that Titanic song", to the other attendees' chagrin.
  • The Simpsons Movie: As the pollution of Lake Springfield dissolves their floating concert stage, the members of Green Day play violins as they sink to their doom.

    Films — Live-Action 
  • The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland: Near the end of the film, when Bert begins to lose hope about Elmo getting his blanket back from Huxley, Ernie assures him that nobody would want to see a movie with a Downer Ending. Bert then cites Titanic as an example of such a movie, along with Gone with the Wind and Doctor Zhivago.
  • In the teaser trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked: Alvin imitates the "King of the world!" scene.
  • Ant-Man: Scott explains to his buddies that he's going to use extreme cold to break into a safe made from the same metal as the actual Titanic.
    Scott: You remember what that iceberg did, right?
    Luis: Yeah, man. It killed DiCaprio.
    Dave: It killed everybody.
    Kurt: It not kill the old lady. She still throw the jewel into the oceans.
  • Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra has Red Beard extend his arms and say "I'm the king of the world!" at the prow of his pirate ship.
  • The title character of Bruce Almighty has a breakdown once he discovers another guy is getting the promotion he so wanted, hence he starts asking questions to the old woman next to him as if she was the elder Rose ("Tell me, why did you toss the blue 'Heart of the Ocean' jewel over the railing of Titanic? Did you feel guilty at all letting Leonardo DiCaprio freeze, while you were safe floating on the big door?").
  • In Flora and Ulysses Flora steals her mother's beloved Jack and Rose statue, holding it hostage until her mother returns the titular squirrel Ulysses. At the hostage exchange Flora accidentally drops the statue, breaking Jack and Rose apart; Jack sinks out of sight in the water while Rose lands on a piece of floating bark.
  • Incest! The Musical: The movie is their prom theme, and so it's mentioned a few times throughout the musical. The opening scene is based off of the "I'm the king of the world" scene.
  • Love Actually: After Sam informs Daniel than the girl Sam has a crush on is going back to America, Daniel says that they need Kate and Leo, and they need them now. We then see Jack and Rose during the "Do you trust me?" "I trust you" exchange.
  • Panic Room: Meg and her daughter Sarah are trapped in the room of the title in their apartment by burglars. Sarah gets the idea to try and signal someone in the building across the street with her flashlight, using Morse Code, which she says she got from watching the movie.
  • Scary Movie 2: Parodied when Cindy and Buddy are both Locked in a Freezer and he convinces her to give him a handjob. "My Heart Will Go On" plays in the background as Cindy promises that she'll "never let go" before he splashes her against the door.
  • Wrongfully Accused has both a scene where the first draft of the Titanic screenplay, which is a large ream of paper, used as a blunt instrument, and in its final scene a parody of the "Jack, I'm flying!" scene.

    Literature 
  • Cold Days: How did Harry summon up an iceberg? By saying "Rexus Mundi", bastardized Latin for "I'm the king of the world!"
  • Molly from I Think I Love You has a crush on Leonardo DiCaprio, whom Petra refers to as "the boy from Titanic."
  • You Have a Match: When Abby was in third grade, her parents gave her The Talk when she interrupted the fogged-car-window scene while they were watching Titanic.
  • Robert from Stim gives Titanic as an example of a movie he can't watch because it's too depressing.
  • In The Executioner and Her Way of Life Akari mentions wanting to "that one thing" on a ship:
    Akari: Y'know, where I stand on the prow and spread my arms out wide!
    Menou: What?
    Akari: Riiight. I guess you wouldn't know about movies here...
  • In I Wish You All the Best, Nathan tells Ben, "Draw me like one of your French girls." Ben gets the reference because their mom loves Titanic. They remember staying up late to watch it with her as a kid, only to fall asleep before the ship hit the iceberg.

    Live-Action TV 
  • The Amanda Show sketch "Blockblister" does a rip-off parody version "Tidanic".
  • In the Broad City episode "Citizen Ship", Lincoln and Jaimé do the "king of the world" thing, with Jaimé shouting "I'm the king of America!" Afterwards, Lincoln says, "All right, switch, now I get to be Rose."
  • Drake & Josh: One episode had Walter 'reassuring' Audrey that Titanic is "just a movie."
  • Farscape:
    • In "PK Tech Girl" the protagonists come across the remains of the Zelbinion, a supposedly invincible Mile-Long Ship. John Crichton comments, "Yeah well, just ask Leonardo DiCaprio. Even the big ones go down."
    • In "The Hidden Memory", Rygel and Chiana have to take refuge inside a pressure tank, and there's parody of the love scene when Rygel's hand wipes the condensation off the tank window afterwards.
  • Grounded for Life: The series finale had the newborn baby daughter having the name "Rose", until it was changed to "Grace' because it reminded everybody of the heroine from Titanic.
  • Interview with the Vampire (2022): In "In Throes of Increasing Wonder...", Grace de Pointe du Lac's Edwardian Era purple dress in the gazebo scene is the same as Ruth DeWitt Bukater's (although the lace collar is slightly different).
  • NCIS: Abby, at the end of one episode, mentions finally seeing the movie. Given its Foregone Conclusion nature, the best she can describe it is "It sinks in the end. It's... weird".
  • The Suite Life on Deck: Several scenes in "The Kidney of the Sea" spoof this movie.
  • Supernatural: The episode "My Heart Will Go On" features the angel Balthazar changing history to prevent the sinking of the Titanic, which he claims is because he hated the movie; according to him, in the new timeline where the Titanic never sank, Celine Dion is now just a lounge singer somewhere in Quebec. Other changes include the Impala car never being made and supporting characters Ellen and Jo Harvelle still being alive when they died the previous year. After history is restored, protagonist Dean Winchester observes that the film "didn't suck that much" (although he attributes this to "Winslet's rack").

  • Britney Spears is gifted with the Heart of the Ocean in "Oops!...I Did It Again."

    Professional Wrestling 
  • Chris Jericho does Jack's "King of the World" pose as part of his entrance.
  • From Chuck Taylor's promo at CHIKARA Best Imitation of Myself (March 23, 2007):
    "I'm a King of Wrestling, baby. I'm a king. I feel like Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic. I'm gonna stand on the edge of the ring, they're gonna hold me high… except I'm not gonna die in the end, because Kate Winslet is not gonna not let me up on… seriously, there was a door floatin', that door was big enough for two people, seriously. Come on, Kate, let Leo up there, right. You could have saved much people from cryin'. I cried… I… I…um…"

    Puppet Shows 
  • Bear in the Big Blue House: In "The Tutter Family Reunion", when Tutter's relatives come to the Big Blue House for the titular family reunion, Pip and Pop are shocked to find some of them in the bathub. One of them, dressed like a ship's captain, keeps shouting "I'm king of the world!" as he rides a toy pirate ship, much to Pip and Pop's annoyance.

    Radio 
  • Martin/Molloy had a skit where they're hired to do a cinema information line. One of the movies is Titanic, and they advise you arrive an hour late so you don't miss out on all the good bits.

    Video Games 
  • Black & White: If you do the ship-building sidequest on the first island, a couple can be seen doing the "I'm flying!" pose in the bow as the ship sets sail.
  • In Persona 5 Strikers, Futaba tries to re-enact the "King of the world" scene, but firstly gets the wrong song ("I will always love you") and gets told off.
    Zenkichi: "You guys are so stupid.."
  • LEGO City Undercover: In the opening cutscene, a couple dressed as Jack and Rose pose on the bow of Captain Bluffbeard's ship similarly to the famous "king of the world" scene. However, they soon get thrown off the ship, with the man telling the woman that his love will go on.
  • LEGO Dimensions: In the Ghostbusters Adventure World, skeletons can be seen on the bow of the Titanic posing similarly to Jack and Rose.
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty: Raiden aka Jack and his girlfriend Rose are an obvious nod. If that's not enough, the final act involves a large ship.
  • Titenic is an unofficial, unlicensed bootleg game bases on the movie, and surprisingly its a Beat 'em Up game. So players can assume the role of Jack or Rose and wipe the floor with the Titanic's crew.

  • Helluva Boss: In "Exes and Oohs", Moxxie says "It's been 84 years" after explaining his past romance with Chaz. A line that Blitzo quickly recognizes.

  • A Vacation Episode in X-Men: Evolution has Bobby Drake a.k.a Iceman goofing off before the other mutants one night, showing off his ice powers by creating floating ice sculptures while everyone's chilling out on the front deck of a cruise ship. Unfortunately, Bobby's joke goes a little too far when he decides to drop an out-of-place Titanic reference.
    Bobby: "Do you know which movie is this? [creates a massive iceberg in the waters a few hundred meters in front of the ship, to everyone's horror]... I'm king of the world!"
  • The Fairly OddParents!:
    • In the pilot short, Timmy consults his Magic 9-Ball on when his parents will be back from the movies, only for it to tell him they're seeing "Titanic: Director's Cut".
    • In "Where's Wanda?", a Titanic stand is seen at the school's movie-themed fair.
  • Family Guy:
    • In "Death Is a Bitch", Death talks about what life would be like without him and sets up a Cutaway Gag showing an alternate ending where Jack lives.
    • In "The King is Dead", Peter imitates the "King of the world!" scene twice, falling off the edge both times.
    • In "Stewie Kills Lois", Lois says that being on the cruise ship makes her feel like "the British chick from Titanic", but Peter believes that Rose was played by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
    • In "Excellence in Broadcasting", Lois tries to prove to Brian that he's a contrarian by asking him if what he thinks of Titanic (he hates it).
    • In "The Blind Side", Brian's blind girlfriend tells him that the trained her brain to create pictures to the sounds she hears and mentions that she loved Titanic, leading to a cutaway where a king sits on top of the world grabbing flying saucers (with actual audio from the movie playing).
    • In "Stewie is Enciente", Stewie names two of his and Brian's children "Jack" and "Rose".
  • Futurama: In "A Flight to Remember" (which itself parodies the sinking of the Titanic), Leonardo DiCaprio's head is used to christen the spaceship Titanic. Also, Bender's romance with the Countess De La Rocha mimics Jack and Rose's romance.
  • I Am Weasel: In "Take I.R. Out to the Ballgame", Baboon leans over the backstop and shouts "I.R. king of world!"
  • My Little Pony Friendshipis Magic: In Rarity's story from "P.P.O.V. (Pony Point of View)", she wears a parody of Rose's dress and imitates the "I'm flying!" scene on the boat.
  • Pepper Ann: One episode's Couch Gag had the title character say "ICEBERG DEAD AHEAD!".
  • Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain: In "Patty Ann", Elmyra plays "Titanic" by putting Pinky and Brain on a toy boat and flushing them own the toilet.
    Pinky: I think Elmyra's seen Titanic a few hundred times too many.
    Brain: Let's hope she never rents A Clockwork Orange.
  • The PJs: In "Hangin' With Mr. Super", "Smokey" was riding on a shopping cart and does an impression of the infamous "I'm king of the world!" scene.
  • Phineas and Ferb has several:
    • "Candace Loses Her Head": An orchestra continues to play as disaster strikes.
    • "Interview With a Platypus": Doofenshmirtz declares he's king of the world on his Bouyancy Operated Aquatic Transport. Repeated with Phineas on a proper ship in "Swiss Family Phineas" and Ferb on the aerial area rug in "Magic Carpet Ride".
    • "That Sinking Feeling": The boys arrange a romantic cruise on a doomed boat to help Baljeet impress his Girl of the Week. Mishti and Baljeet even replicate the "I'm Flying" scene, and during their date, Candace and Jeremy wear their hair like Rose and Jack.
    • "The OWCA Files": Believing death is imminent, Napoleon the Bug tells his fellows, "Gentlemen, it has been an honor serving with you". He then pulls a violin out of Hammerspace and plays "Nearer My God to Thee".
  • Robot Chicken:
    • A sketch from "Anne Marie's Pride" has Jack and Rose iChat their big scene.
    • A sketch from "Celebutard Mountain" depicts the series finale of The Love Boat, in which the ship hits an iceberg and breaks in half.
    • A sketch from "Robot Fight Accident" features twist endings for various films, including Titanic.
    • A sketch from "Choked on a Bottle Cap" has Rose let go of Jack as he sinks into the ocean in peace, only for some sea creatures to dismember his body.
    • A sketch from "We Don't See Much of That in 1940s America" has Dominic Toretto steer the ship over the iceberg.

    • In "Mayored to the Mob", the Simpsons watch Roger Corman's version of Titanic on TV.
    • The Couch Gag for "Sunday, Cruddy Sunday" has the couch floating on water and hitting an iceberg, causing the family to sink and Maggie to float on a cushion.
    • In "The Old Man and the 'C' Student", Smithers sketches Mr. Burns like Jack does with Rose.
    • In "I'm Spelling as Fast as I Can", Lisa shouts "I'm the queen of the world! ...of spelling".
    • In "Jazzy and the Pussycats", Moe reminisces about 1997 and says that Titanic was "unsinkable at the box-office".
  • South Park:
    • In "Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus", a theme based on "My Heart Will Go On" plays whenever Celine Dion appears.
    • In "Summer Sucks", the school band plays violins as a giant fireworks "snake" rampages through town.
  • Thomas & Friends: In "Terence Breaks the Ice", The music in the scene where the tree sinks to the bottom of the pond and Terence apologizes for it sounds very similar to the soundtrack of Titanic. Terence is also wrapped in a blanket afterwards, much like Rose.
  • T.U.F.F. Puppy: Several scenes in "Crusin' for a Brusin'" spoof this movie.
  • In Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race, Noah mentions it as "that movie about the couple and the sinking ship". Apparently he's seen it 700 times.
