— The show's Expository Theme Tune

...and this is where I'd put my description of The Fairly OddParents! ...IF I HAD ONE!

The Fairly OddParents is a hyperactive animated series created by Butch Hartman about a little boy named Timmy Turner and his fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda. Running for ten seasons (from March 30, 2001 to July 26, 2017), it is the second longest-running scripted series in Nickelodeon's history, behind only SpongeBob SquarePants.note

As the Expository Theme Tune explains, Timmy Turner is your average, diminuitive, pink-hatted, buck-toothed ten-year-old who unfortunately can't catch a break. Whether it's run-ins with the school bully Francis, failing grades, or his own parents neglecting him and forcing him to deal with the sadistic and manipulative babysitter Vicky, his life...isn't all that great. But one day, that all changes when he meets Cosmo and Wanda, a pair of "Fairy Godparents", magical beings whose purpose in life is to assist miserable kids such as Timmy, through the use of wishes granted by their trusty magical wands. Sounds like a pretty good deal, right? Well, unfortunately for Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda, it turns out that wish-granting isn't exactly a one-and-done solution; In most episodes, Timmy uses Cosmo and Wanda's magic to deal with some mundane problem, but inevitably, things spiral rapidly out of control, either due to Timmy not fully considering the implications, the wording of the wish itself causing unforseen issues, or sometimes just some other unknown factor rearing its ugly head at just the wrong moment, such as one of Timmy's many everyday enemies. Not only that, but Timmy's Sadist Teacher Mr. Crocker has taken note of the weird things that tend to happen around Timmy, and has become obsessed with proving the existence of Cosmo and Wanda to the rest of humanity, an act which would cause Timmy to lose his fairies forever and get his memory wiped in order to keep the existence of Fairies a secret. And then there are the episodes where Timmy somehow gets entangled in Fairy World politics. Needless to say, even Timmy's more sensible wishes can lead to big problems forcing, him, Cosmo, and Wanda to figure out how to hit the Reset Button and get things back to (relatively) normal.

As the series went on, additional characters were added to the main trio to mixed reception: Cosmo and Wanda's fairy baby Poof in the sixth season, their talking fairy dog Sparky in the ninth, and Timmy's new neighbor Chloe in the tenth season, whom he has to share Cosmo and Wanda with.

In addition to the show's 280+ episode run are multiple TV movies and special episodes, as well as three live-action television movies starring Drake Bell as a 23-year-old Timmy who still has Cosmo and Wanda: A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!, A Fairly Odd Christmas and A Fairly Odd Summer.

In February 2018, Butch Hartman announced that he was leaving Nickelodeon after being with the company for 20 years, confirming that the show ended production after 16 years.

Several episodes from seasons 3 and 5 are legally available (outside of the US) on YouTube for free, courtesy of Nelvana, which owns the international rights to those seasons.

On February 24, 2021, it was announced that the show would be getting what was believed at the time to be a live action reboot on Paramount+. However, in July 2021, it was revealed that said live-action adaptation would be a sequel series titled The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder, following Timmy's cousin, Vivian, after she and her father move to Dimmsdale. Cosmo and Wanda return as well. The live-action series premiered on March 31, 2022.

On February 2024, Nickelodeon announced a sequel series titled The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish focusing on Hazel Wells as she moves to Dimmadelphia, but her new life changes when Cosmo and Wanda, straight out of retirement, become Hazel's fairy godparents which will premiere during the spring of that year.

3 Tickets Appear Like Magic

Inverted when Timmy wants to raise money to buy some shockingly expensive tickets from Francis to see Crash Nebula on Ice by poofing it with magic. It cannot happen as if Cosmo and Wanda were to poof up 3 tickets at the current timing, it would mean taking tickets from other people, which is considered stealing.

How well does it match the trope?
