That's right, Zero. Keep looking at the meme. Pay no mind to the Mario shaped SMG sneaking away with the chest...

Sure this arc is quite possibly the darkest of them all, but that doesn't mean there can't be any moments that'll make us laugh.

Perfectly Balanced

• While SMG4 and SMG3 are glaring at each other, Mario decides to go sit at the other table. Which happens to be a kids corner.
• One of the memes SMG4 makes to stop Morshu (which you have to pause in order to read) is about Morshu selling bombs to protesters.

Mario Babies

• Luigi's childhood seemed like the typical "lost child" schtick at a Best Buy until he walks into an adult movie booth and then things really kicked off...which he sucked up a bunch of stuff with his vacuum, including King Boo's son.
  Luigi: Huh, maybe that's why King Boo hates me...
  • Right after he says this, cue the aforementioned ghost king appearing as he takes out a vacuum containing an AK-47 which causes Luigi.exe to stop working.
• Melony's childhood shows her...really going around for a watermelon leading up to the events of Mario's Mask of Madness.
  Mario: You met Barrack Obama?!
• We get a glimpse of Shroomy's childhood...and it involves him being the victim of the Bite of '87 of all things. The aforementioned Bite is the reason Shroomy's a boy scout to this day.
• While the ending is a Wham Episode that involves SMG4 having an identity crisis, it ends with this;
  SMG4 ...n-no... Where am I from? Who am I? WHAT AM I?!?!?
  Mario: You're adopted.
  (cue SMG4 yelling to Gangsta's Paradise)

SMG4's Origins

• The episode opens with SMG4 still screaming to Gangsta's Paradise.
• SMG4 searches his computer for any evidence of his past and finds a folder filled with baby photos. They turn out to be baby photos of his computer of all things. He promptly throws his computer out the window.
• The reveal that the source of the Mushroom Kingdom's madness stems from the meme-filled USB that SMG4 came from... except Peach, who was instead Driven to Madness in moments of having to deal with the recently idiotic Mario.
• The first words that come out of the idiotized Mario
  Mario: "Ah, the princess! She makes my PEE-PEE go POINK!"
• The ending, which SMG3 complains that the flashback only revealed SMG4's not his, so the Meme Gods look at each other and then casually show them SMG3's origins was the same as SMG4's, only that the two Hate at First Sight.

SMG4 Goes Insane

• Peach jumpscares Mario causing him to throw a Blue Shell at her which bounces off her head and blows off a Green Toad's head. Toad then grumbles like he dropped his ice cream and walks off.
• While the scene involving SMG4 in the basement is mostly tense, it does have a silly joke. On the board where SMG4 is trying to find out more about the Avatar, we see a picture of Lou Albano Mario surrounded by pictures of a Na'vi and the Gaang.
• How does Mario enter SMG4's head? Do drugs. How he got it is just as funny: E. Gadd used it to leave his body and enter a tied-up Yoshi, and seemingly Mind Rape them while steals it.
• When Mario travels into SMG4's head to deal with his insanity, he ends up warping into the middle of nowhere.
  Mario: It's empty...no wonder he's so stupid
• As travels Mario inside of SMG4's brain, we get a quick couple of scenes;
  • The Brain Room, where one SMG4 forgets how to breath and passes out.
  • Meme Education Zone, where a lecture on Big Chungus is being told.
  • The Ideas Room, where a bunch of SMG4s have no idea what to do, and one is poised to shoot himself.
• Mario soon finds himself in a recording studio in SMG4's mind... where he's filming an episode of Hobo Bros (with Boopkins taking the place of Kevin.)
• When all the SMG4s in his mind notice Mario, they surround him with cameras and tell him to do something funny. Mario does the Club Penguin dance with a silly expression on his face.
• Mario's advice to snap SMG4 out of his depression?
  Mario: Always remember. Dying is gay.

Into the Dark Web

• The back flash is portrayed with a poorly made animation made by SMG4.
• In order to find SMG4's Guardian Pod in the Dark Web, they need the help of a degenerate who spends all their time on the Dark Web.
  Bob: oi u wot m8.
  SMG4: Bob! You're completely useless to society! PERFECT! You can help us!
  Bob: Wow. First of all: F*ck you! Secondly: Hell yah! The Dark Web is where all the bitches are at, like my favorite Dark Web streamer, Butter Birdo.
  Butter Birdo: I put a whole bag of jelly beans up my ass.
  (Cue SMG4 barfing)
  Mario: Mario's DIK feels funny.
• In an attempt to calm down Melony, Mario dresses a Dark Web inhabitant as Mr. Monitor. It has absolutely no effect.
  Axol: The hell are you doing Mario? (Voice clip: "What da hell is wrong with you?!")
  Mario: Idk lol (Voice clip: "Mario's got to piss.")
• What actually snaps Melony out of her Heroic BSoD, as well as chase away the Dark Web monsters? Axol becoming a Chonk himself.
  Dark Web Monsters: I ain't need to see no more sh*t down here! (run into the distance and explode)
• While in the Guardian Pod, they find a file library. What follows next is a Take That! to said websites;
  • SMG4 opening an Internet Explorer book. The Slowpoke it spawns is predictably slow, yet it ends up being the only helpful thing they can find inside the pod.
    SMG4: That's okay. Take your time.
  • Axol opens a book representing Twitter, with a bird coming out. Axol calls it cute. Cue it cursing and turning into Tricky.
  • Mario opens up one based on Windows, which annoys him immediately as it constantly updates. Cue a Windows holding behind him with a gun. Mario responds by throwing the book he has at it.
• Mario's "Big Brain Time" involves him getting naked and pressing all the buttons. It actually works.
  I'M A GENIUS!!!

Stupid Mario Golf

• Both Jeeves and Bob end up accidentally throwing their golf clubs into a Monty Mole's eyes, who proceeds to scream in a very operatic manner.
• Bob enters the golf tournament because he apparently left a gang boss's child behind in Brazil, so he needs the tickets being offered as a prize.
• SMG4's golf swing seems to break the four wall, only for it to be revealed that he just launched his ball into Lakitu's camera. Then it rolls straight back to him.
  SMG4: God damn it, this sucks ass.
• Bowser setting his golf ball on fire and turning Whomp King, Peach, and Daisy into fried chicken. Cue Saiko showing up and grabbing the bucket that was formerly Daisy to eat.
• Wario's special attack is just a shotgun. It fails to do anything to either his opponents.
• JubJub slapping a Chain Chomp, who begins crying like a baby. Boopkins just watches with his jaw dropped.
• Wario and Waluigi crashing their car into Gourmet Guy, who promptly goes into an ahegao.
• During the "Speed Golf" round of the competition, Mario encounters a friendly star playing golf. He promptly sticks it up his ass to power up... and accidentally launches himself into space.
• After Jeeves loses his patience, he tries to get the contestants to fight to the death. Except none of them want to do it, and all hold hands together. Jeeves just goes Laughing Mad and decides to send Matt in to kill everyone.
• While everyone else (including Mario) backed against the wall in justified fear when Matt showed up, Bob doesn't realise why Matt is so dangerous and attempts to rush him, only for Matt to dodge and proceed to grab and crush Bob's head in a Shout-Out to Invincible and after Matt succeeds, Bob points out that fortunately this was a light-hearted cartoon, otherwise that could have been a lot worse, before keeling over dead.
• The Gainax Ending where Matt turns Jeeves into the prize tickets and then T Pose flies away, while everyone else is left jaw dropped and confused.

If Mario Was In... Newgrounds

• As soon as Mario puts a crown on SMG4, the knights from Castle Crashers immediately begin trying to simp over him, escalating into a full-on fight until Mario exposes them to hentai.
• Upon entering the Henry Stickmin Series, Henry escapes his cell by offering a T-posing Heavy a sandvich. Then SMG4 helps Henry out by insulting the guard's hairdo, which somehow causes him to die.
• SMG4 calling out the fact he's already done two videos on Friday Night Funkin' already.
• Pico's School gets taken literally, with Pico having become a math teacher... who punishes wrong answers with a rocket launcher. When he asks SMG4 to solve 9+10, SMG4 struggles, and fails, not to answer with 21. The two exchange a laugh before...
  Pico: NOT SCIENTIFICALLY POSSIBLE! *Blows up SMG4*
• The entirety of the Super Mario Bros. Z parody, complete with Art Shift to sprites to match the style of the series.
• Hank and Tricky getting into an argument over UNO. Which causes the usual chaos Madness Combat is known for.
• When entering The Binding of Isaac, Mario and SMG4 see Isaac being picked on by monsters from his game, when SMG4 states that they have to help him, Mario proceeds to scare Isaac himself and after Isaac's tears fail to harm him, chases him around to SMG4's exhasperation before Isaac finds a chest containing Abaddon, Mario taunts him before Isaac turns into The Lamb and chases him before Mario finds a chest himself... Only for it to contain a banana much to Mario's irritation before being flattened by Isaac.

The Other Universe

• SMG4 realizes that the SMGs look like their avatars...except for SMG1, who looks like he got squished in an accident.
• Spudnick is the early SMGs' Avatar. Mario can relate when he sees Spudnick wearing a skull humming Megalovania.
• The events of this episode would have taken place when Newgrounds was the main go-to for internet entertainment, so a later game like Friday Night Funkin would still be in its infancy. Cue Boyfriend as an infant.
• When Spudnick's favorite teddy bear is held hostage with a water gun, the SMGs try to get law enforcement to help. Considering said law enforcement is Sgt. John, he gives the kidnapper a real gun.
• The "Lukey, I'mma your papa" line could be funny since, on a meta level, the creator's real name is Luke so he's technically not wrong.

SMG4: The Day HE Arrived

• Mario and SMG4 discovering the Shreks outside after they ring the doorbell.
• SMG4 genuinely believes that Shrek is an anime. Axol tries to correct him but fails.
• The Running Gag of Axol trying to hide the existence of his Axol/Melony fanfiction to Mario and SMG4.
• When SMG4 demands the Shreks to get out of the way, they do.
• This.
  Axol: I swear, all I've been doing is drawing anime!
  SMG4: You mean that fanfic of you and Melony?
  Axol: WHO SAID I'M GOING TO ASK OUT MELONY? NO WAIT! I MEAN I HAVE TO BECOME THE BEST MANGA ARTIST IN THE WORLD THEN I CAN ASK OUT MELONY! I MEAN IM NOT ASKING OUT MELONY!
  [Beat]
  Axol: Look SMG4 its a distraction!
  Shrek: GET IN MY BELLEH!
  SMG4: SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP! (car crashes)
• Zero, for all its inscrutable powers, coerced E. Gadd into helping it by threatening him with a knife.
  • Zero's eyeball attempts to return to the rest of its body, but Mario squishes it.
• SMG4 reminds Mario that he can't die or the universe will go with him. Mario proceeds to kamikaze the USB.
• Swagmaster's attacks aren't enough to give Zero's Guardian Pod even a tiny scratch. He isn't impressed.
  Swagmaster: (To the Guardian Pod) Alright, you win this round.

Doomsday but Mario is Okay

• Swag is hyped with setting off the bomb, but it doesn't go off for some reason, leaving everyone underground rotting while waiting for it to explode.
• The Running Gag of Bob trying to escape the bunker with SMG4 trying to stop him.
• Mario opens the fridge to find… nothing! Meanwhile, Meggy finds instant noodles, but doesn't want to eat them because they're vegetable flavored.
  • The instant noodles were made by Cube.
• Meggy scolds Mario for trying to eat Boopkins' chocolate, then gets immediately tempted into trying to eat it herself.
• Saiko puts Mario and Meggy into time-out and holds onto the chocolate until they behave. And it was originally Boopkins' chocolate.
• Swag gets impatient and tries kicking the nuke to set it off. Fortunately, it doesn't work, and Chris has to explain to Swag why he shouldn't kick it.
  Swag: Me want boom.
  Chris: You dumbass! If the bomb goes off while we're out here, you'll be part of the boom.
• It's revealed that Peach hijacked the nuke, and she's mad.
• Bob uses Boopkins to distract SMG4 but runs into a wall. SMG4 reveals he cemented the exit in case if anyone tries to escape. Fishy Boopkins is horrified by this while Bob is awed by SMG4's tactics.
• Mario and Meggy trying to anger each other while trying to avoid Saiko's attention. It escalates when Mario uses Fishy Boopkins to shoot a spike ball, causing Meggy to whale on the Italian.
• When Saiko scolds the two for fighting, Meggy eats the chocolate in Saiko's hand along with Saiko's hand. And doesn't let go.
• Swag gets pummeled by Peach while Chris is eating popcorn.
• Moments before the bomb goes off, everything is out of control underground. Bob is trying to break the cement with his drill arms, SMG4 tries stopping him to no avail, Meggy is still biting Saiko's hand, Melony is trying to look for Axol, and Boopkins is crying on the floor. Tari realizes that something is off, then has an Oh, Crap! moment.
  Tari: GUYS!
  Everyone stops what they're doing and looks at Tari.
  Tari: WE FORGOT LUIGI!
• Luigi goes to the castle and brought board games with him, unaware that everyone is hiding underground and that he passed by a nuke. It blows him up with the castle, but he survives.
  Luigi: Owww…

Mario and The Backrooms

• The reason that Mario, SMG4, and SMG3 were able to get abducted by Zero was because they went to take a piss.
• When Mario found a Mario hat inside of a present box, he pretends that he's Mario, even though he's already wearing a Mario hat.
• When Mario and SMG4 find SMG3, the latter ends up confirming that he also got abducted when he went to the bathroom. The three Marios then said in unison that they still need to take a piss.

MARIOS OKAY MARIOS OKAY MARIOS OKAY MARIOS OKAY MARIOS OKAY MARIOS OKAY MARIOS OKAY

• The title for how much of a Blatant Lie it is.
• The pre-video ad has SMG4 distracting Saiko from her boredom by promoting World of Tanks. Which leads to Saiko getting a tank and accidentally blasting Boopkins with it.
• Zero proves that he's Not So Above It All when his eyes taunt the trio by dancing to "You Spin Me Right Round".
• The trio end up in the void from "SB-129", leading to SMG4 recreating the "alone" sequence... only instead saying "Ow my ass". And one of the voices in this sequence sounds suspiciously like Boopkins!
• As Meme Guardians SMG4 and SMG3 learn they can use the power of memes to reshape the universe, but only when the two mortal enemies hold hands.
  SMG3: If you tell anyone about this, I'll kill you.

The Final Piece

In spite of everything that happens, yes, there are some funny moments to be had.

• When Zero knocks down Swag and Chris's helicopter, everyone quickly steps out of the way without a word.
• SMG4 escapes Zero by playing an axolotl meme on his computer to distract him. The best part is that it works, and Zero seems confused by what he's seeing. SMG4 on the other hand does a terrible job at sneaking away.
• Even as a virus out to destroy the universe, Zero stays true to the tradition of Toad abuse, telekinetically grabbing all the Toad's in Peach's castle to use as projectiles.
• Bob attempts to harm Zero with his "Spinny Pepperoni Pizza Slicer Move with Extra Cheese".
• Luigi and Boopkins try to pull off a Super Friendship Attack...which is basically them crying for Axol to come back from Zero's possession. The best part is that Zero doesn't bother to shake them off.
• Tari's arm is apparently able to turn into a jet rocket. And then Luigi and Boopkins try their "Super Friendship Attack" again... which greatly annoys Zero.
