Fridge Brilliance

  • Sergeant Hull Head was fed a single tomato a day when he was imprisoned to keep him from starving. The universal icon for all of the food you give your monsters is also a tomato.
  • The Chaos Fortress is a containment for beasts of terrible destruction, usually Kaiju, and the robotic Volthar is the one that brings them to this place. Of what we currently know, Volthar has successfully managed to capture Cryotan with ease, which made his friend and fellow wreckage fan, Hookuai, whom Volthar has quite a bit of trouble against. In-game, Volthar is a Thunder control with its main methods being Possession, Stamina Removal, and Positive Effect Removal. Cryotan, meanwhile, is a Water monster, making it weak to the Thunder element, and has the Mountain trait (making it immune to 2 of the 3 primary control effects, Stun and Freeze. Guess which is missing.), high stamina costs (making it vulnerable to losing that stamina), and a lot of positive effects to apply to itself, such as shields and Taunt. Then, on the other hand, Hookuai, while also being a Water monster, isn't too worried about going down, since Volthar has low Strength and can't deal enough damage reliably. He also has Control Immunity (which makes him immune to Stun, Freeze, Time Stop, Baby Reversion, and Possession), a move that costs no stamina to counteract Stamina Removal, and only has one buffing move, Power of the Deep, which also applies Positive Effect Protection (keeping positive effects from being removed). No wonder Volthar can't get a win against Hookuai; he's the perfect counter!
    • This battle has likely been going on for a long time, and this can be seen with other parts of Volthar made to counter Hookuai back. Hookuai is an attacker who will always go for big damage, so Volhar's own trait gives it Damage Mirror, which reflects this damage back to Hookuai, meaning if it goes down, he goes down as well. Additionally, its Special skill, Tonje, disables the enemy team's traits before apply Mega Possession and Nanovirus (which prevents positive effects from being applied), meaning that Hookuai can't protect itself with Control Immunity and can't buff itself with Power of the Deep during said Possession. Volthar may be able to win 1x1 with enough luck, but it's going to be a challenge.
  • All of the Diamond Relics in the game are named after a certain monster in the game, such as Nebotus' Armor, Wangzhou's Shield, and Jakugan's Sword. All except for the Mantis Claws Trap and Ruby Trap...that is, unless you notice certain details about them that correspond to certain monsters themselves.
    • The Ruby Trap applies its effect, removing the enemy's stamina, when the enemy has a Control effect applied to them. Xiron the Ruby, meanwhile, has access to tons of Random Control skills, and several ways of removing stamina.
    • The Mantis Claws Trap removes stamina as well, but also deals heavy Thunder damage, which corresponds to Sparking Mantis, a Thunder monster that deals big damage and loves to drain stamina.
      • It also makes sense based on the Trap not being named Sparking Mantis' Trap in the first place. Unlike most Legendary monsters, Sparking Mantis is a species consisting of many Sparking Mantises. Of course it's trap wouldn't be named after any individual!
  • In Urtikus' expanded backstory, Galante acts rather violently towards Gretchen for a monster mostly known for being a perfect romantic. That is, until you remember that he also used to be in The Mafia, according to Gangsterosaurus' description.
    • Additionally, the whole crux of the story is that Galante's breeding powers are becoming weaker, and he hasn't been nearly as successful as he once was. This may be a clever case of Gameplay and Story Integration, as monsters introduced in special breeding events (where Galante is an effective replacement for certain required monsters) around the time of Urtikus' release (i.e. Zombic, Yedra) were much less popular and not as effective in the game's competitive meta as the ones from earlier events (i.e. Makugan, Pierceid). Indeed, the monsters released in breeding events that use Urtikus have been much more successful (Frazerot, as well as the Mythics afterwards). However, Nikasia, a famous High-Tier Scrappy being released beforehand makes this most likely a coincidence.
  • All of Lonradh's moves, save for his defaults, are named after various stars. Despite it seeming like a simple outlier, this includes Sun Protection.

Fridge Horror

  • Malair used to be a superhero alongside the likes of VoltaiK and the Firestorm. One day, however, he decided to give just a little bit of black magic a try, and he was instantly consumed and transformed into the most threatening supervillain yet. Remember, he only used a tiny amount, and that alone was enough to immediately 180 his moral compass. Just how powerful and dangerous is black magic in this universe, and what would happen if someone got into contact with a massive amount...?
    • This is further bolstered by the extended backstory for Rociuko, the apprentice of the wise and hardened sage, Kihaku. No matter how much she wanted to try out some black magic of her own, she was always rejected, with Kihaku warning her that it was too dangerous. Even after all of this, however, Rociuko still ended up tired of Kihaku and joined forces with Harusami, a dark samurai and Kihaku's mortal enemy, with plans to destroy him and make Harusami her puppet. She was a light sage before this, and fundamentally good, so it's possible that not only is using black magic enough to instantly corrupt you, but that even the mere thought of wanting to use it sends you spiraling down the path to wickedness. The Good Legions seem to have their work seriously cut out for them...
  • The title screen made for the release of Miserus shows him teaching a group of four magic-casting Legendaries. Out of them, you can see famous terribly evil sorcerers, like Lord Pumpseed, Pierceid, Warspellz, and...Watinhart, a hero sworn to protect the sea? With the class being otherwise filled with evil, what could Watinhart be turning to to defend his home? Or is he even really a hero?
    • On a similar note, Incognita - a monster directly stated to write the destiny of the universe, practically making her a goddess - can be found in the Corrupted Era's Wicked Gaia book, which is otherwise filled with purely evil monsters, including the Corrupted stars of Neurofunk's Era Saga. This presents the frightening idea that the monster who determines everything that happens in the world of Monster Legends is either plainly evil or vulnerable enough to corruption for Lutum to turn her evil.
  • Ignis' description gives us the info that Barbatos, leader of Hell, has a stash of Stardust he plans on using to crush his enemies. We've seen from other Cosmic monsters that Stardust is ridiculously powerful, even in small amounts. What kind of power could Barbatos obtain with a massive collection of the stuff? And considering he's literally Satan, who could even hope to be safe from his wrath?
  • Now that Lutum is scattered throughout the islands, there's plenty of reason to fear how it may affect certain monsters. While it's possible for a particularly good-hearted monster to become Pure, it's very easy for a monster to be just imperfect enough that they're consumed by Corruption, and Monster Legends has some terrifying evildoers running around already. What would happen if Lutum went wrong in the hands of, say, Warmaster Ragnarok, a monster who already has the combined powers of every element boosted up to eleven? Or Passion, a war-hungry Blood Knight who happens to also be a Zodiac? Or Noctum, practically the embodiment of Darkness itself? The possibilities are endless, and they only get uglier and uglier.
