Awesome / Monster Legends

Go To

The entire game is made almost exclusively of terrifyingly powerful monsters in the style of Pokémon, what do you expect!?

  • Some of the games Legendary monsters are pretty awesome in their power alone. As in, some of them canonically reach the levels of actual God (unless your name is Uriel, in which case you basically are Him). Some examples include:
    • The Inheritor / Pierceid: The Inheritor gets points for being equally as powerful as Satan himself or... , but he literally pales in comparison to Pierceid. Her description describes her as even stronger than the Inheritor, meaning she's stronger than Satan as well. With how great of a Control monster she is, too, she proves this through more than just words.
    • Yilitre: This horrific creature is able to see the past, present, and future all at once with his hundreds of eyes, and uses this power to sell information to powerful lords for centuries. It's entirely possible he's even given some of this knowledge to the likes of Uriel himself, if "powerful lords" signifies the divine (which is most likely, considering his age and appearance).
    • Uru: A mere jelly blob with the ability to transform into any anime hero around and mimic their abilities perfectly. Yes, this includes Goku, which is truly menacing to anyone who knows what he's capable of.
    • Jabaline: She may seem like an ordinary (albeit anthropomorphic) cicada at first, but her spear is guided by Ares, the god of war, which means she must have been able to convince him to assist her. Even alone, she's stated to be terribly intelligent and agile, making her quite a threatening Lightning Bruiser in-universe.
  • Saika is the grandmother of the guide for lost travellers, Kassia, and is quite obviously stupid old, with a hunched over, creaky-looking figure and having retired from her job in the same role for a while now. However, when her granddaughter ended up in some big trouble with the powerful and imposing queen of Monstelvania, Countess Flawless, what was her first thought? It's time to beat up some vampire ass.
    • For another example of a really powerful elder, look no further than Al Canine, The Don of the Canine Crew. With his wrinkled face and cane, he's certainly an old dog, but even despite his age, he pulls off some fantastic agility with that cane, and even remains an exceptional monster in-game, with his flurry of Stun, Sunburn, Guard Down, and cooldown activation spoiled only by his lacking (but not too lacking) speed stat.
  • Silverleaf, a young, yet wise forest sage, gets one for being able to single-handedly take down Zizania, an overwhelmingly powerful, highly adaptive alien robot planning to destroy his forest.
  • Global Mech Ltd. was responsible for the pollution of the oceans where Crabbydroid lived, and subsequently the death of his parents. In his fury against the factory, Crabby then built a robot exoskeleton to empower himself, took a giant pile of the junk they accumulated in the water, and threw it onto their factory, crushing the entire building.
  • Should we mention the biggest case of Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass ever seen in a mobile game? At face value, Hackster is nothing but a silly, stereotypically nerdy hamster used exclusively for the joke event on the 80s island. However, as the game's lore became more fleshed out, Hackster was revealed to be an actual technological genius, and one of the more prominent forces in the whole game. Even in his original description, he was stated to understand an "unknown dimension", and to have found a way to hack and multiply the storage capacity of floppy discs, but as new monsters were released, we learned that he is constantly keeping the information of strengths and weaknesses of all monsters secret to keep the balance in battles, and eventually teamed up with a fellow genius tech expert, Ingenica, to build Mirak, an extremely effective controlling and supporting robot. Heck, even in gameplay, he's a very effective control monster if played correctly.
  • The fact that Gretchen, another old lady, manages to put up a decent fight against Galante in Urtikus' extended backstory. Galante used to be a member of The Mafia, and yet an average, elderly witch did her best to defend herself against his attack with nothing but her agility, and succeeded until Galante accidentally broke the potion she had made for him.
  • Ignis, once a mere blacksmith for resident king of Hell Barbatos, had the guts to stand up to his boss when he noticed a shipment of Stardust in Barbatos' hands, demanding he be given a share lest he tells the world of the Stardust. This should be given emphasis; a regular blacksmith just threatened Satan. Even better, it actually works!
  • The entirety of Voltaik Redeemed's story arc in the finale of the Galactic Saga. To recap...
    • Picture this, the Great Cthulhu has devoured both Admiral Copperbeard and the Transmission Tower, leaving the universe of Monster Legends at the mercy of the Abominations. Suddenly, in a flash of light, Voltaik Redeemed appears, and tells the monsters that it's not too late.
    • The Reveal that not only was Dark Voltaik the first monster to discover the Astronite, but was the exact flash of light that gave both Queen Luthien and MC Boss the Astronite needed to fight back against the Abominations.
    • He manages to bring back not only Kiridar Pilgrim but also the mages from Petra and confides in them a plan to sacrifice himself to seal the portal
    • He confronts Tyrant Skeel and gives him a brutal speech not only for attacking the superheroes while they were delivering the Transmission Tower, but also for abandoning Admiral Copperbeard to be devoured by the Abominations.
Tyrant Skeel: I thought Superheroes belonged in Elektra, so what are you doing out here? Go back home! Or go and take care of the Abominations. Don't you have enough work to do?
Voltaik Redeemed: No, Tyrant Skeel, as much work as I have, I had a couple minutes to spare with you. Just like you spared a couple of hours attacking the Superheroes in Elektra when they were trying to help you. Didn't you have work to do back then?
      Tyrant Skeel: ...
Voltaik Redeemed: You could've chosen to make history. You could've brought glory to your civilization. Instead, you chose to be a part of the problem first and a coward who fled the fight later. That's how you'll be remembered-as a traitor and a coward.
    • He manages to lure all of the Abominations in, and rescue both Admiral Copperbeard and the Curse of the Cosmos.
    • To top off his redemption arc, he goes toe to toe with The Great Cthulhu himself, and wins!
    • This requires a bit of elaboration. Throughout the story, the Great Cthulhu is seen as an intimidating threat to the Galaxy itself, as not only do monsters refuse to speak its name out of fear, but does considerable damage to the universe. Voltaik not only manages to beat down the Great Cthulhu and wins, he manages to save the galaxy from the abominations!
