Comments: This author has an amazing knack for writing the show's characters from different angles. Aside from that, they also write very competently and enjoy messing with AUs (mostly on how certain episodes might have gone or "What-If" scenarios). It seems to be their opinion that Hawk Moth is stupid, so you'll see plenty of stories where his foolishness is pointed out and used against him. In case you're wondering, they're the ones behind the Miraculous: Tales of Littlebug and Chaton Noir series.

Comments: This author has written a lot of MariChat fics. I personally find them enjoyable, and feel that they do a good job of making a romance between Marinette and Chat Noir believable. One thing to note, though: not all stories are on both sites. They seem to favor their FF.net account, but there is at least one fic on Archive of Our Own that isn't on Fanfiction Dot Net.

Comments: An author who specialises in AU fics, in particular, a collection of Kwami Swap stories called Always a Hero, No Matter the Miraculous, which explore alternate combinations of Miraculouses and holders: Marinette alone has been written as a Ladybug, a Black Cat, a Bee, a Fox, a Peacock and a Butterfly, some more than once. Comments: A hilarious oneshot that borders on shippy, featuring DJWifi and a protective Chat Noir.
- The oneshot is actually part of a DJWifi series, which contains two other unrelated oneshots—Worth the Risk (a Soulmate AU) and Seek (an aged-up AU that's basically Alya and Nino mucking around looking for Master Fu). They aren't humor-oriented, but both are still great pieces of work.

Things between Marinette and Adrien get incredibly awkward after The Incident, but at least they’re not alone. Half their class is in the same boat. And just when everyone starts to be able to move on from that, they discover the 'baby-making' thing wasn’t just a euphemism. Babies are on the way. No one’s ready for it, but it’s happening, and they’re all gonna do their best to deal with it. Will this be the thing that finally gets Adrien to fall in love with Marinette? Or will Cat Noir’s insistence that he loves Ladybug and doesn’t care if she’s having some other guy’s baby be enough to win her over?

Comments: More wholesome than its synopsis would imply, this story primarily focuses on the relationships of the main and supporting characters as they navigate the strange circumstances they find themselves in.
- FAIR WARNING: When the author says "baby-making," they mean the traditional way—the characters are essentially brainwashed into doing the do, so while the author works very hard to keep things non-explicit, the entire fic has some uncomfortable scenes as the characters (who are still teenagers) deal with what's happened.

This routine is set so firmly in place that, once it's shattered by an old-yet-new enemy, and the reappearances of a cold friend and a hot partner, the whiplash threatens to send Marinette spiraling down into chaos. As Ladybug, she can do anything...but soon those limits will be tested, whether she is in or out of the costume.

From the strangers surrounding her to the mysteriously cold Félix Agreste, she can’t seem to catch a break. Back home, things are no better as a displaced Bridgette Dupain-Cheng cleanses an akuma and finds her whole world changed with a Chat Noir that doesn’t seem to understand that they aren’t partners - they’re enemies.
Comments: Absolutely fantastic characterization and a riveting writing style.

Synopsis: Taking the “high road” only means there’s further to fall once things crash and burn. Lila’s lies get out of hand and Rose is the unfortunate victim of her manipulations, resulting in an akuma called Witch Hunter, who is quite set on purging Lila’s evil once and for all. Marinette had wanted Lila to be revealed for the liar she was, but not like this. Now she has to protect her enemy from a city of outraged (if not justified) people. But it seems that everything is conspiring against Marinette and the temptation to simply let Lila face the consequences of her actions is only growing.
Comments: Lila salt taken in an entirely different direction. Particularly notable for criticizing the characters instead of salting them and showing off Lila's mindset in all its twisted, shortsighted, emotionally immature glory.

Synopsis: With Ladybug decreed the new Guardian of the Miracle Box and the Order restored to prominence, things seemed to change for everyone. Ladybug, now tasked with the role of the Guardian, now has everything to lose with Hawkmoth still running rampant. Cat Noir, having to follow his lady's judgement, needed to make sure that she didn't snap from the pressure. Hawkmoth, still without his wish, needed to double his efforts yet again, and the Order need a new set of heroes.
Comments: Post-Season 3, features the hypothetical distribution of all of the remaining miraculouses in the Miracle Box. Several new akumas are convincingly conceptualized and powerful enough to warrant their use. The story then heads into a gripping conclusion of the whole series.

Synopsis: Adrien's relationship with his father has reached its breaking point and he's pulling further away from everyone, hurting Marinette despite how closely they have to work together on a school project. When the pain becomes too much to bear he takes to the night and finds an enemy that's targeting him. Something's gotta give and Adrien isn't sure when he falls he'll land on his feet.
Comments: By first look, it seems like it'd be a shipping fic, but it does more than that. There's the plot of Adrien's relationship with his father that holds the most tension throughout the story along with a Miraculous that is targeting Adrien/Cat Noir specifically for death. Each chapter goes back and forth from Adrien's to Marinette's POV and as the author has said, they plan to break Adrien down as far as they can before bringing him back up. It does a great job of mixing angst, drama, humor, and romance. A very fun read.

Synopsis: Paris. The city of lights, love, and fashion. Follow the progress of Marinette Dupain Cheng as she enters the extremely competitive world of Reality television for a chance to be the winner of Project Runway: France.
Notes: Part of the C/h/atwalk series.
Comments: Even if you've never watched or cared about Project Runway (like me), YOU WANT to read this fic, it is simply that good. It's not an AU just a little further along the timeline, where Marinette has a chance to live her dream of being a designer, on national tv which means keeping her superhero identity a secret and working with a certain model.

Chloe And the Bee by anxresi

Synopsis: Chloé Bourgeois has a very happy life. She's the daughter of the mayor of Paris. She gets her kicks from bullying the truly pathetic Marinette. It's not taking 'no' for an answer, either...

Comments: Chloé gets a miraculous and spends her entire first transformation posting selfies. It’s also from her perspective, so we skip any conversation that she personally finds stupid or boring. 10/10; totally in character.

Synopsis: Everyone in Paris had always assumed that if Hawkmoth were to die, it would be mid-battle with the superheroes, or maybe in a jail cell years down the road, after being defeated. No one expected him to die suddenly in a car crash on a sunny afternoon. Least of all, his son.
Comments: As per the Archive of Our Own tags, this is a short hurt/comfort fic. No diabolical plots, just a young man coming to terms with the loss of his father and the realization that he was a supervillain - with the help of a special young lady.

Synopsis: A Role Swap AU in which Marinette gets the Cat Ring and Adrien gets the Ladybug earrings, focusing on how they deal with the pressures of their hero and civilian lies against the threat of the Butterfly villain Monarch
Comments: A very interesting Role Swap AU between Ladybug and Chat Noir. It not only swap their powers but also how they interact with the world. Especially enjoyable seeing Tikki as Adiren's caring mother figure and Plagg as Marinette's gruff but caring and often overprotective protector. It establishes some new history regarding the Miraculous, particularly with the Butterfly Miraculous and how it ended up with the Big Bad Monarch. It also shows some new development with the side characters, like how former akumas have to deal with discrimination for the actions of their monsterous selves and how the heroes are fighting to stop it. Overall an enjoyable rewrite of the canon series.

Synopsis: Lila Rossi has it all at her school, mostly thanks to the never ending stream of lies that she utters to draw in and maintain her popularity. But unlike everyone else in Paris, she has a burning hatred for the superheroine Ladybug, one of the few people to see through and call her out on her bullshit. So when she is caught up in an akuma attack and sees a large section of crumbling wall above where Ladybug happens to be standing, she takes advantage of this opportunity and pushes it onto her, almost resulting in a victory for Hawk Moth. Lila is frustrated that she failed to actually kill Ladybug, but takes solace in the fact that she did hurt her… unaware that the whole thing was caught on camera by Alya Césaire. Karma is not mocked, Lila Rossi, and she’s gunning for you.
Comments: If you hate Lila's guts and wanted to see a fic where she gets exposed, but at the same time are put down by how liberally the typical Salt Fic hands Ron the Death Eater like candies to half the cast, this fic is for you. A Revenge Fic where Lila, and Lila alone, suffers the consequences of all her lies and manipulations, and none of the other characters are caught in the crossfire.

Curiosity Killed the Chat Noir by Luki

Synopsis: In one universe, after beating Lady Wi-fi, when Ladybug runs into the cupboard to transform with less than a minute to go, Chat Noir closes the door and runs away. This is not that universe.

Comments: This is an angst fic; don't expect happy endings. An interesting exploration of the premise, thought.
- Troper/SubversionStation: This is not an angst fic. It was written in the first year of the show, when the fandom was considerably more innocent and the fandom abounded with saccharine reveal fics, so even though the fic is more "realistic/grounded" than "angst," it was technically angsty by the fandom's standards prior Season 2. Basically, it takes a look at how the Love Square might have worked itself out if Chat learned Ladybug's identity. As mentioned, it handles the premise well and is definitely worth a read.

Synopsis: Adrien Agreste and Félix Vanily aren’t related, not even a bit, but they look exactly like one another. This causes more than one problem.
Comments: A hilarious AU where Félix and Adrien are Identical Strangers and not at all related. The first chapter alone is quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever read in the fandom, and while the following chapters aren't as humorous, they make up for it by having interesting scenarios and good character interactions. Félix and Adrien's begrudging friendship is also fun to read.

Do Not Believe Her Lies by Kat_o_nine_Tails

Synopsis: Marinette finds out that she had underestimated Lila and just how far she’s willing to go to keep her control over the class. And that is on top of Hawkmoth becoming more powerful because of Marinette’s mistakes. She can’t fight either of them alone, but all of her friends are compromised. In her desperation, she turns to the only people who do not believe Lila’s lies: Adrien and Chloe. They say you go to war with the army you have, not the one you want. Marinette is fighting a war on two fronts. She does not get to be picky.
Comments: One of the best Chloe redemption fanfic I've read, it improves Chloe's character a lot and develops a very funny friendship between Marinette, Chloe, and Adrien, it also improves Lila's character making her lies more credible without having to stupefy the other characters .

Synopsis: Dr. Franc Thibault was having a perfectly normal day, thank you very much, until a young couple, Adrien and Marinette Agreste, come into his office for an ultrasound appointment…
Comments: A series of oneshots set in the future, when Marinette and Adrien are married and expecting their first child. The protagonist is the titular Dr. Thibault, an ultrasound technician OC who accidentally discovers their true identities and promptly geeks out. A cute read that's both funny and heartwarming. The author even includes short comics based on their work in the fics!

Comments: Absolutely hilarious with spot-on character reactions for each classmates, such as Nathaniel figuring it all out by literally drawing everyone in the class until he found faces that fit and Rose accidentally saying more than she should have even after Juleka figures it out. Worth a read!

Comments: A Ghost!AU oneshot seen through the eyes of Nino. Has some cute DjWifi and a tiny bit of Ninette, but the real draw is how skillfully the author writes the scenario, melding canon with the alternative universe seamlessly.

A beautiful integration of the darker world shown in the PV and the lighter one shown in the canon show, it places Félix Agreste as the older brother of Adrien and the ‘first’ Chat Noir, and explores the relationship between Félix, Adrien, and their father, as well as showing how Adrien becomes Chat Noir in this universe, and it’s just… it’s beautifully written. If the PV left you aching for more of that universe, this is the fic you need.

The first chapter twist is fairly unique, and the second chapter is surprisingly heartwarming. A great read for anyone tired of Lila salt.

Comments: A well-written crossover with good uses of Fish out of Water (Marinette) and Outside-Context Problem (the akumas from the Zootopian point of view), and with a good portrayal of Judy/Nick's developing relationship. But readers should be warned that the story takes a very dark turn once it gets around to explaining what happened to Marinette before she got transported to Zootopia, including the brutal death of a major character.
- HOLY SHIT is this fanfic interesting. Though the emotional parts of the flashback are kind of ruined if you manage to guess which character died.
  - Pardon me? Interesting? I'm sorry, despite how well written and mature this fic is, I have to give it a thumbs down for some.....troubling shipping. They bring that same level of mastery and thought to What The Cat Dragged In, a wonderful look at how the Avengers would react to the events of Miraculous Ladybug. Told from an outsider's perspective, it isn't the average Miraculous Ladybug fic, and stands all the more strongly for it.
- Seconded. I felt that the explanations for some things went on a bit longer than I wanted, but I enjoyed the story regardless. And Akuma!Tony/Peacemonger was handled excellently.
  - Thirded. The worldbuilding portion is not only excellently detailed, but it all also makes so much sense in regards to revealed Miraculous canon (so far as season 1 is concerned, anyway). Plus, the two original akumas in the story are superbly written and depicted.
