Liliadent Krauser is a 1st year exchange student from Nagoya Seitoku.
- Aerith and Bob: His name makes him stand out as a foreigner.
- Biblical Motifs: His Signature Move.
- Blood Knight: Goes full-on power on Kirihara, to the point of nailing him against the steel fence.
- Bullying a Dragon: Didn't go well for him with either Kirihara or Nakagauchi
- Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?:
- He got it badly when playing against Kirihara.
- He receives this again in New Prince of Tennis against Nakagauchi.
- Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: Like many of the Nagoya foreign players, he starts berating Rikkai as a "team from a little island". Yagyuu, however, translates this for Kirihara as "The Seaweed idiot", so Kirihara goes on Devil Mode.
- Far-Out Foreigner's Favorite Food: One of the topics he has in common with Ryoma is their shared taste for Japanese food (Ryoma was also raised in USA, but prefers Japanese style breakfast over Western). When Ryoma asks him what is his favorite food from home, he answers "Miso soup". Then Ryoma points out that it's a Japanese soup, so he responds that he usually has it at home with a softer taste. Ryoma can relate.
- Foreign Exchange Student: He mentions to Ryoma that he is sometimes homesick and misses some of his homemade dishes.
- Gratuitous English: Most of his lines, given his status as a foreign student, which also makes him one of the few characters that talks to Ryoma in English. His accent, however, also accentuates that it's not his native language.
- Real Men Wear Pink: His hobby is Flower Arrangement. He also seems to enjoy purikura (cute miniature photo-stickers) and gets genuinely happy when Zaizen gives him one.
- Signature Move: Haritsuku Gomen (Dismissal by Crucification) and Southern Cross
- Token Minority: So far the only canon Caucasian character at U-17. According to the fanbooks, he is German-American.
- Took a Level in Kindness: In The New Prince of Tennis, as he is assigned as one of Ryoma's roommates, he is the only one to notice that Ryoma is distraught and asks him in English if he's OK.
- Vague Age: He is a Middle School Freshman, but his age is not specified, since he is a foreign student. He is also the tallest of the freshmen.
Sakata Richard is a 3rd year student from St. Icarus and captain of the school's tennis club. He captained his team to the Nationals, only to lose against Sengoku Kiyosumi of Yamabuki. In The New Prince of Tennis, he is described as a western foreigner by Dan Taichi, Urayama Shiita, and Horio Satoshi.
- Aerith and Bob: "Richard" really stands out between so many Japanese names.
- Ambiguously Brown: He has clear African heritage, but it's not stated from where exactly.
- But Not Too Foreign: Since he has a Japanese last name, it's possibly he is half-Japanese. However, the other half of his heritage is still a mystery.
- Combat Pragmatist: He uses his long legs to trip others.
- Lightning Bruiser: He is known for his long legs, which serves him as an advantage.
- Overshadowed by Awesome: He is mostly remembered by the fandom and many characters as "The guy who lost against Sengoku in the Nationals".
- Token Minority: One of the only notable characters of mixed heritage along with Jackal.
- In New Prince of Tennis he is one of the few minorities along with Liliadent and Jackal.
- Took a Level in Badass: He is among the middle schoolers who survives coach Mifune's Training from Hell and returns to U-17 with a black jacket.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: Has a little one under his left eye, as indicative of his Jerkass role.
- I Shall Taunt You: He should know better than provoking Tezuka and Fuji before a match.
- Jerkass: Knowing that Tezuka was injured from his left elbow, he grabs him by the arm, only to be surprised by the strenght he still had.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Right after he taunts Tezuka and insults Fudomine as a "No-Name School", his team gets crushed by Fudomine very easily.
- Sore Loser: He tells Mizuki about Tezuka's injury.
- Butt-Monkey: All their misfortunes are product of their bad actions, cowardice and messing indirectly with Seigaku.
- Dirty Coward: They purposely forfeit their match against Seigaku. And also the whole team didn't have any constraints with bullying Sakuno.
- Jerkass: They purposely bullied Sakuno by hiding her tennis ball and make her look for it between all their balls. That's until Ryoma kicked their collective asses.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Twice.
- During the Prefecture Tournament, they try so hard to not get Seigaku, that they end up getting paired against Rikkaidai.
- Trying to spy on Seigaku, they steal a big bottle of Inui's juice believing it's the key of their performance. The whole team gets sick right before their match against Rikkaidai (they would have been crushed anyway).
Murigaoka is a school of the Tokai Region that won the regionals recently and they are famous for having a Data Gathering Team who videotapes and analyzes their rival teams.
They eliminated Maikozaka in the first round but were eliminated by Rikkai Dai Fuzoku Chuu in the second round. They did not win a single match.
- Dirty Coward: They like to mock the former Kantou Champions Rikkai Dai but when confronted by Sanada, they get stopped on their tracks.
- Jerkass: The captain Ushida Tetsuo and vice-captain Miyase Tomomori are very unpleasant.
- Kick the Dog: They mock Rikkai Dai for losing the Kantou Regionals to the point of mocking Yukimura's illness. This earns them Kaoru's wrath when he heard them along with working with Hiroshi to beat them in a match together along with tricking them by disguising as each other.
- Laser-Guided Karma: For all the mocking towards Rikkai Dai as they thought they got weaker, they ended up losing every match against them in the Nationals in a Curb-Stomp Battle.
Fortunately, they gained a spot in the Nationals. However, Midoriyama is probably the weakest team compared to the other 5 teams from the Kanto region. They were easily eliminated in the first round of the nationals.
- Adapted Out: The anime replaces them with Jousei Shounan.
- Demoted to Extra: The musicals only mentions them in a brief recount song. In the manga, however, their miniarc is, if not, very forgettable.
- Pushover Parents: The coach Kiraku pressures his son into playing tennis, also because he was an Unknown Rival to Echizen Nanjiroh.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: The Captain, Kiraku Yasuyuki, plays on the team only because his father wants him to, to the point he started to get tired of tennis until he faced against Ryoma.
