Rokkaku Chuu is a school from Chiba, known as "The Veterans from Chiba" since they have qualified for 35 years straight to the Nationals. The team's regular line-up consists of players who learned the sport when they were kids and have been using wooden racquets tailored by their advisor ever since. Said advisor, Ojii, has been the coach from before Nanjiro Echizen was the star from Seigaku.
- Friendly Rival: They're the most friendly rival school towards Seigaku; they all are nice (if odd, in some way) guys on their own, and as a whole have a rather friendly rivalry with the protagonists. Both schools participate together in the beach volleyball tournament, and in the Nationals, Seigaku cheers for Rokkaku against Higa; after losing to them, Rokkaku later repays the favor to Seigaku by cheering them in their matches against Hyotei.
- Foil: The entire team has a lot of simmilarities with Shitenhouji. Both schools are a lot more relaxed in comparison to the other teams, both have eccentric coaches, a boisterous first-year regular and a Boke-Tsukkomi pair (althought Shitenhouji's entire school is composed of Tsukkomis with the sole exception of Hikaru Zaizen).
Aoi Kentarou is the jolly, talkative and energetic captain of Rokkaku tennis team. What makes him stand out is that he is only a freshman, and some teams are doubtful of his capabilities as a team captain. However, despite being a rookie, Aoi is a high-caliber player, who were able to match up with Kaidou Kaoru (manga) and Echizen Ryoma (anime).
- Ascended Extra: In the manga, Kentarou plays against Kaidoh, while Ryoma is away watching Kirihara's game. In the anime, however, he gets to be Ryoma's other rival and they actually play against each other. Because of this change in the anime, he is also included in the OVAs to play against the amnesiac Ryoma (In the manga, one of the only two schools that didn't have any input in recovering Ryoma's memory was Rokkaku, along with Midoriyama).
- Animal Motif: Bees. His racquet strings make a beehive pattern, and one of his character songs is named "Honey Bee".
- The Baby of the Bunch: He's the youngest member of the Rokkaku tennis club, and overall the youngest captain from all the teams at the National Tournament.
- Butt-Monkey: In the Anime only, since Shudou is Adapted Out for the Volley and Yakiniku mini-arcs.
- The Captain: He was picked by the coach (if it was coincidence or a deliberate choice is still a mystery), instead of the more mature and reliable Saeki. The team, however, is fine with this anyway.
- Casanova Wannabe: He wants to attract as many girls as Saeki and Sengoku together, while Koharu tells him it won't work if he is that desperate.
- A Child Shall Lead Them: He is the only First-Year captain. Downplayed since his teammates are only older by a couple years tops.
- Composite Character: He ends up getting Shudou's fate in the gag-miniarcs (In the manga, Shudou is the first victim of Inui's juices, while Kentarou is the one still in competition).
- Demoted to Extra: Subverted, and yes, this goes along with Ascended Extra. Since Shudou is Adapted Out, Kentarou takes his place as the victim of Inui's juices, meaning that he gets knocked out before the actual gag miniarcs. In the beach volley game, he was supposed to be Ryoma's partner, but he is eliminated early on so Ryoma could get paired with Tezuka. In the Yakimiku arc, he is also eliminated, which takes him out of the dinner competition before it even starts.
- Foil: He is a prototype version of Kintarou Toyama from Shitenhouji. Both are more boisterous and Keet, and both are rivals who are the same age as Ryoma. Even their given names sound very similar. But unlike Kintarou, Aoi was originally planned to play against Ryoma, but ended up dueling Kaidoh, and in the anime Ryoma manages to beat him. However Kintarou never has an official match against Ryoma, but both still get to play one point, which somehow ended in a draw because the ball splits in two, and each half fell in each side of the court, therefore Ryoma never got to officially defeat Kintarou.
- Keet: Gender-inverted. He is the only captain who is openly too jolly and talkative, mostly because he is still a 1st year student.
Koujirou Saeki is Rokkaku's stern and confident vice-captain. He is a childhood friend of the Fuji brothers. Saeki excels in doubles with his outstanding game reading capabilities, being able to read where an opponent is going to run or hit the ball by watching the contractions of their muscles prior to their action.
- Adaptation Dye-Job: While in the manga he has honey-brown hair, in the anime his hair is grey on the top and black near the nape.
- Chick Magnet: Girls are attracted to him even when he's not trying at all.
- Claustrophobia: Mentioned in one of the fanbooks.
- Childhood Friends: To the Fuji brothers.
- Nice Guy: Part of his natural charm, as he is generous and friendly to everyone.
- Number Two: Although he is more mature and has better leadership skills, he still is chosen by the coach as Vice-Captain, while Kentarou (a first year) is made Captain. Not that Saeki minds, though.
Hikaru Amane is well-known for single-handedly beating Hyoutei Gakuen's pre-regular players during a practice match. It is no doubt that he is one of the strongest players in the team, despite being a sophomore. While he is very serious on court, he still tends to crack puns in between hits. When he is off court makes even more lame puns and jokes.
- Amusing Injuries: On the receiving part. Bane kicks him on the head as a part of their routine.
- Boke and Tsukkomi Routine: As the bokke.
- Hurricane of Puns: The 40.5 fanbook says that he makes 20 puns every morning when he wakes up, almost 80 in a single day or one every 12 minutes. Accordingly, he makes a whopping grand total of 28,775 puns in a year.
- Laughing at Your Own Jokes: Whenever Davide does a pun, he ends up with a stiffled laugh, which prompts Bane to kick him on the head.
- Let's Get Dangerous!: When he ties up his beautiful long red hair... watch out.
- Pungeon Master: Loves doing lame puns inside and out of the court.
Harukaze Kurobane is a very strong player with deep responsibility in everything that he does. Despite being a rough-looking player, he is very close to the kids who play around Rokkaku's playground and look after each in a brotherly fashion.
- Amusing Injuries: On the giving part. He kicks Amane on the head as a part of their routine.
- Boke and Tsukkomi Routine: He's a rather... special tsukkomi.
- Friend to All Children: Apparently plays with the future tennis club members everyday.
- Nice Guy: When not kicking Amane.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: All his teammates call him "Bane-san"
Itsuki is a very curious player who never stops asking about everything that happens around him, sometimes going to the extreme of chasing a person around if he doesn't satisfy his curiosity. He often deeply breathes through his nose, which seems bull-like. He is skilled in hitting balls without a spin and reaching balls close to the ground, due to his experience with clam digging.
- Catchphrase: "Why?"
- Gag Nose: He has a bigger nose than most of the characters, and his most common tic is blowing air through his nosetrils.
- Verbal Tic: "-none".
Ryou Kisarazu is well-known as St. Rudolph's Kisarazu Atsushi's older twin brother, and the one that Mizuki wanted to recruit for St. Rudolph. He was never able to play in the manga nor in the anime, however, it is concluded that he is a very powerful player.
- Identical Twin ID Tag: He is Kisarazu Atsushi's twin brother, with the difference that he has long hair and a cap, while Atsushi cut his hair short and wears a bandana (after Mizuki confused them and took the "wrong brother" with him).
- Signature Move: "Sky High Volley".
- Adapted Out: To the point he never appears in the anime. All his parts are given to Kentarou.
- Butt-Monkey: He is usually the first victim of Inui's juices whenever the school teams have competitions outside the tournaments.
- Ridiculously Average Guy: Compared to his teammates, that is.
