Biblical Motifs

"These are a shadow of the things that are coming, but the body belongs to the Messiah."

As the canon of Western mythos and philosophy (despite its Eastern origins), The Bible has influenced fiction since the time of the flood. This supertrope deals with biblical motifs featured in everything from epic poetry to the newest issue of your favorite Shōnen manga.

Compare Hijacked by Jesus for works that bend other religions and their motifs to biblical archetypes. See Crystal Dragon Jesus for works that feature biblical motifs under the guise of separate religions. These will often appear in Love Is Like Religion songs. For works that explicitly quote The Bible, see As the Good Book Says....

Note: Biblical Motifs begin and end with The Bible. A trope may deal with a Jewish or Christian concepts and still be unrelated to the canon.
