Navboxes get a lot of use on subpages for large works and franchises, especially on Characters pages.
Floatboxes get used for various things on all sort of pages,
Both sometimes get overcomplicated and make their pages harder, not easier, to navigate. This thread is intended to look at the more problematic ones and agree on ways to make them better.
This isn't intended to be an approval process - usual This Is a Wiki rules apply - but if there's a question about the best way to do something, or a concern that something might need some level of consensus to avoid 'unilateral change' issues, this is a place for that discussion.
Where necessary, Crowners can be used to formalise decisions, especially if they affect a large number of pages.

Any specific examples?
I'm back! For navboxes, Characters.Ru Pauls Drag Race and the linked pages. More than fifteen rows, and 54 pages (so far...) that all need updating every time there's a change (e.g. a new season of one of these shows).
On mobile, the navbox takes up the entire screen.
In that case, just the shows should be sufficient. The seasons should be linked only from those pages (and the seasons themselves).
I'm back!
That's my instinct as well. Just need to do a mock-up, then get consensus on the change.
How about this?
Navigation: Main (RuPaul and Judges)
RuPaul's Drag Race: Season 1 | Season 2 | Season 3 | Season 4 | Season 5 | Season 6 | Season 7 | Season 8 | Season 9 | Season 10 | Season 11 | Season 12 | Season 13 | Season 14 | Season 15 | Season 16
Related shows: | Canada's Drag Race | Drag Race Belgique | Drag Race España | Drag Race France | Drag Race Holland | Drag Race Italia | Drag Race México | Drag Race Philippines | Drag Race Sverige | Drag Race Thailand | RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars | RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under | RuPaul's Drag Race UK | The Switch Drag Race
I'm back!
It's generally a bad idea to link to every subpage just because it's faster. It may need extra clicks, but it's best to show only parent pages and neighboring pages. So condensing is good.

And as for the "related shows"?
I'm back!Maybe something like this? Country by alphabetical order.
Main page (RuPaul and judges)
RuPaul's Drag Race (USA) seasons:
Drag Race around the world:
All Stars & Vs. the World

I think this is a great idea! Currently, it's an arduous task indexing every new series into the existing menu — this is an ideal new approach. Lex.
And now for a floatbox query - this is how Industrial looks on a smartphone screen, as floatboxes aren't responsive and don't resize on a smaller screen. All other text gets squashed to the left.
Any ideas for amending this?
I'll be honest, I don't know much about music, but I have no idea how does one measure "influences" (especially when this list takes two whole pages on Desktop) nor why we need to list them at all.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupWow that's very messy and I also question whether we need them at all. Could those elements be placed into a simple bulleted 'bio' at the beginning? like so:
[etc!]
In the late seventies, when Punk Rock was the dominant form of rebellious music, several artists who were more underground felt that punk was not as effective a means of expressing true rebellion as many had claimed. These musicians decided to move towards the more weird sounds of Electronic Music instead. Rather than embracing the mainstream electronica of their time, however, they drew inspiration from bands like Suicide and strove to combine Electronic Music with various experimental styles such as Avant-Garde Music, Musique Concrete, and Free Improvisation, with a punk mentality.

I have an idea for reworking the headers on the pages for the books of The Bible. These examples would be for the Book of Genesis:
Before
Old Testament/Tanakh
Genesis | Exodus | Joshua | Judges | Ruth | Samuel | Kings | Ezra | Nehemiah | Esther | Job | Psalms | Proverbs | Ecclesiastes | Songs | Isaiah | Jeremiah | Ezekiel | Daniel | Hosea | Joel | Amos | Obadiah | Jonah | Micah | Nahum | Habakkuk | Zephania | Haggai | Zechariah | Malachi
Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical
Tobit | Judith | Maccabees
New Testament
Gospels | Acts | Romans | Corinthians | Galatians | Ephesians | Philippians | Colossians | Thessalonians | Timothy | Titus | Philemon | Hebrews | James | Peter | John | Jude | Revelation
After
Old Testament/Tanakh
Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical
New Testament
I think the only problem is that when it's stacked like that, it's not obvious that they're actually folders. Would users realise that they're clickable?
Would this make it any clearer?
> Old Testament/Tanakh <
Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical
New Testament
There are also a few other header ideas that I'd like to implement.
A-G | H-N | O-S | T-Z
Work Pages | Other Pages
2005-11 | 2012-13 | 2014-15 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023

Check out my Pantheon Search Database prototype!Fine-tuned the Drag Race proposal - the Characters cleanup view is that we shouldn't have redlinks in character nav.

Looks awesome mate!
Support the latest Drag Race navbox proposal too, good work! Also feel free to undo any of my recent changes to the page, which I did before consulting this discussion.
How's this look?
Ryuki | Gaim | Drive | Ex-Aid
That last post had no detractors in seven days' time, so I implemented the changes. Now, how's this look?
Changed from "Editions of Dungeons & Dragons" to "Dungeons & Dragons Editions".

Check out my Pantheon Search Database prototype!I like the layout overall, but I'd change the top line to "Dungeons & Dragons Editions".

I've designed another, but I don't know how to compress this one down to be easy to read.
Anime & Manga | Comic Books | Fan Works | Film (0-5 | 6-7 | 8 | 9 | 10) | Literature | Live-Action TV | Manhwa | Music Videos | Tabletop Games | Theatre | Video Games (0-7 | 8-10) | Visual Novels | Web Animation | Webcomics | Web Original | Western Animation
