Trivia / Toontown Rewritten

Go To

  • Approval of God: Jesse Schell, the former design director of Toontown Online, has given his personal approval of Rewritten, happy to see that the game he originally helped create still has a lasting legacy and is being kept alive by devoted fans.
  • Author's Saving Throw: During the 2022 Cartoonival, the dev team apologized for putting Cleff, who spoke with a stereotypical Jamaican accent, in the dunk tank due to racist connotations, and subsequently cut out the incident by rewriting him into an accent-less Surfer Dude.
  • Development Hell: Doodles in Rewritten spent a long time in this state because of how much they choked servers on any attempts to implement them. As it turns out, their original coding was quite poorly written, and they only survived on Disney's servers simply by virtue of them being such a huge multi-million dollar company. Even other fan servers tried to "beat" Rewritten to getting them added, only to realize they weren't kidding on how much demand they required on the servers. Compared to all the other features that were originally standard in Toontown Online that were released within at least a year of Rewritten becoming an open beta, Doodles weren't implemented until three years after, in 2017, and only then it was because they were able to rewrite the coding for Doodles to a point where they weren't such a strain on the servers.
  • Doing It for the Art: Rewritten was made solely to let Toontown live on after its closing. The developers are avoiding any and all ways of making money off the game, and are paying for servers completely out of pocket. The developers have dropped memberships entirely, and will deny any form of donation.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: A whole new slew of jokes told at Knock-Knock Doors were added in Rewritten, all submitted by fans in a contest.
  • Promoted Fanboy: All the fans who are working to develop Toontown Rewritten and other servers.
