  • Follow the Leader: In summer 2021, a Dark King of the Hill channel emerged. On November 25, 2022, the Dark Arthur series was created by the YouTube channel ItsOwlRight. These works seem to be doing their best to follow the Dark Simpsons path.
  • Missing Episode:
    • A huge amount of the darkest videos, such as every video featuring Leon Kompowsky and most of the episodes involving rape, have been deleted as of March 3, 2020 due to the channel being demonetized by Youtube and forced to clean it up to regain the monetization. Subverted later on, with the deleted videos being moved to a new channel, entitled "Dark Simpsons Archives"note . completely unaltered. However, a bonus video of a green screen version of Homer's thong dance from the episode "Catch 'Em If You Can" had not been reuploaded.
    • "Homer Can't Let Her Go" was notable that it was a 20-minute full episode expanding on "Do It For Maggie". The video had been Screwed by the Lawyers and removed. It had since been brought back on the channel with the videos split in half (after Homer's Catapult Nightmare), with the Title Sequencenote  removed from the first part and an Establishing Shot of the Simpsons's house added to the beginning of the second part.
    • As of 2023, all of the webcomics were deleted, along with the Dark Simpsons website which hosted them.
    • The channel used to occasionally post compilations of Front-Facing Simpsons screenshots (with some variations using smear frames or Futurama screenshots), which were eventually moved to Sour Simpsons, until they were eventually outright deleted.
  • Reality Subtext:
    • Some celebrities that have appeared on the show would be repurposed to reflect the scandals they would become embroiled in after their appearance:
      • Bill Cosby's cameo appearance is used to inspire Homer to drug and rape Marge in "Homer Loves Marge".
      • Leon Kompowsky - voiced by Michael Jackson - appears thrice to molest Bart Simpson. In "Barty's Gonna Party", he even sings the "notice boys you like" stanza. He also cameos at the end of "Return of the King".
    • Certain videos have addressed contemporary issues:
      • "For No Reason Here's Apu" was made shortly after the aftermath of the documentary The Problem With Apu, where the titular character was quietly removed from the show after accusations of being a racist caricature of Indians. The video was also made in a time of heightened tension regarding the issue of US immigration.
      • "Looks Like There's Beer Coming out of the Chimney" has Moe's Tavern burn down, and Homer being incentivized to bring his bar activities home, at the end of the video even seeking to build his own home tavern. This video was released in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic, which has caused a widespread cancellation of events, downturn of restaurants, and self-quarantining of the population; this in turn has led to businesses and people adapting to these circumstances (working from home, hosting streamed seminars; etc.), just as Homer does in this video.
      • This was then more closely covered in a trilogy of videos, where the citizens of Springfield deal with the virus, social distancing, and self-quarantining: "Coronavirus Hits the Simpsons", "The Simpsons Practice Social Distancing", and "The Simpsons Come out of Quarantine".
  • Stock Footage Failure: A given since the series is made up of cropped moments from the source material. Later videos subtitled "Seamless Cut" deliberately invoke this trope.
  • Trolling Creator: In the video description for "Homer At The Bat", where Homer gets framed for murder and ends up being executed by the police force over a softball game, you can see the video description of the video where the Anonymous Author says he's been playing around with the idea of giving this video a sequel, where Marge gets vengeance for Homer. Then came the minisode remake "Chief Wiggum's Police Misconduct", which expanded on the previous video. Marge decides to wage a one-woman war against the Springfield police in retaliation. She trains extensively, becomes more fit, learns how to use a gun... and dies in the inevitable showdown with the police force at the end of the minisode. Many users were not pleased with how this turned out in an unexpected The Bad Cops Wins twist (although this is a Deconstructive Parody fanedit series anyway.)
