Season 1

    Episode 1: From The Shadows
  • As Ford and Brina take down a Kaiju, they witness Australia's satellite array come down in flames in the atmosphere. Realizing that the "Black" was just initialized, you can just hear the hopelessness in their voices, that no one else is coming to help them.
  • The destruction of Marauder Zeus. Though we don't see them on-screen for very long, watching its pilots get instantly killed after being stabbed in the back by a Kaiju, then getting jumped, and having the Conn-pod explode is a saddening scene.
  • In an effort to head to Sydney and find help, Ford and Brina sadly leave behind a reluctant Taylor and Hayley at Shadow Basin.
  • Taylor and Hayley get into a nasty argument after the latter finds an old Jaeger pilot helmet. Though Taylor still holds onto hope that they're still alive, Hayley bluntly believes their parents died five years ago, before breaking down in tears and running off.
  • Due to the alarm going off after activating Atlas Destroyer, a Copperhead Kaiju hears it and makes a beeline to the village and wreaks havoc, killing everyone. After the battle, Taylor and Hayley scour the remains, only to find the corpses of Shannon and Rosa. Not only have their parents disappeared, now the two siblings have lost their home again, and all their friends.
    • During Copperhead's rampage, we also get to see Kevin, one of Taylor and Shannon's friends, as he gets instantly crushed to death by Copperhead. All Taylor and Hayley can do is scream "NO!" at the sight of his gruesome end.

    Episode 2: Into The Black
  • While in the Drift, it's revealed that Taylor holds some resentment towards Hayley for getting everyone they loved killed. Though he tries to get her to understand, just watching this scene hurts.
    • Hayley's tone of voice and expression, halfway between 'dead inside' and 'holding back tears' is just soul-crushing before she runs out.
Hayley: I murdered everyone we love. And my brother hates me for it. What's not to understand?

    Episode 5: Escaping Bogan
  • During their talk, Joel reveals to Mei that her memories have been lying to her this whole time while with Shane. Everything that she knows about him, and herself, have been manipulated by Shane himself, by a forceful neural bridge where he planted Mei's mind with false memories so she can't tell which ones are real, and which ones were fake. She does not take this well.
  • Following their escape, Shane attempts to contact Mei through her two-way radio. Joel takes the radio instead and tells him she doesn't want to talk to him. Shane then decides to leave them a message: that he has a contingency plan for anyone that turns on him. The radio starts beeping, resulting in Joel having his head completely blown off, with Mei, Taylor, and Hayley there to witness his blood splatter everywhere.

    Episode 6: Boneyard
  • The episode begins with Mei burying Joel's body in an unmarked grave, with all that remains of him is an empty bottle of liquor and dog tags.
  • During their search for Boy in the ravine, Taylor and Hayley come across several Jaeger and Kaiju remains. One of which belonged to a Mark IV Jaeger, Horizon Bravo. Upon recognizing it, Loa suffers from a meltdown, implying a connection between her, that Jaeger, and the crew.

    Episode 7: Showdown
  • While in Clayton City, Mei begins shooting at Atlas Destroyer, trying to ward them away. When Taylor and Hayley meet with her, they learn that the restaurant she holed herself in was her home - her real home, before being abducted by Shane.
  • Taylor and Hayley stumble upon the wreckage of Hunter Vertigo, their parents' Jaeger, as well as recordings left behind for the two. Sadly, Ford and Brina didn't even make it close to Sydney before having to abandon Vertigo to a Kaiju, and should anyone stumble upon the Jaeger, send help to Shadow Basin and their survivors, as well as leaving a farewell message should they die, telling the two siblings that they tried and they love them.
    • It's even more heartwrenching knowing what happened to the survivors in the present day, meaning that their message for help was all for naught.
    • On top of all this, Ford and Brina had to abandon ship, so there's no telling what actually happened to the two after bailing. Considering people like Shane are out there, combined with the Kaiju, it's not hard to imagine the fate that befell them.
  • Boy is seemingly stuck in his Kaiju form, in a feral rage. While Hayley tries to calm him down, he just snarls and snaps at her.

Season 2

Episode 4: Sisters of the Kaiju
  • After Mei convinces Shane to help Brina, Shane digs through Brina's memories and eventually succeeds in locating her true self. While trying to get out of the Drift, they are nearly caught by a force erasing Brina's memories. Shane sacrifices himself to save Brina's life, resulting in Mei sobbing over Shane's corpse just after Taylor and Hayley celebrate Brina returning to normal.
    • Spyder and Mei create a grave marker for Shane after Mei informs Spyder of Shane's death; Spyder is distraught and in disbelief after Mei tells him.

    Episode 6: The Twilight Run
  • The episode begins with Boy waking up and Taylor, Hayley, Boy, and Mei getting to Sydney Base. Hayley, Taylor, and Brina reunite with Ford, and the scene ends with Brina noticing a beeping sound; her heart monitor slowly turning off while she succumbs to her injuries, unaware that she's in a simulation made by Hayley in the Drift.
  • Taylor gets a moment to vent with Loa about how much he's failed: he flunked his pilot exam and lied about it, how he ghost drifted to gain the skill he never had, and couldn't handle helping Brina die in peace so he had Hayley do it for him —- all while his mother's corpse is in the background.
    • At the same time, Loa reveals that she blames herself for the death of her former pilots; she was worried they wouldn't survive against a kaiju they were supposed to fight, so her pilots turned on manual control and died in the battle.
  • Apex attempts to revert Boy back to normal. While he ultimately succeeds in doing so, Boy injured him so severely that he dies in front of both a regretful Boy and the crew of Atlas.

    Episode 7: Final Approach
  • Loa sacrificing herself to destroy the Breacher and save the siblings.
