Scrubs is infamous for the number of cultural references in JD's fantasies. To number them, we need a whole page.
- In addition to all the Imagine Spot foolishness we get from JD, the fact is that this show was a big sloppy love letter to the classic sitcoms of the 70s an early 80s. Listing all the references and shoutouts would be a task worthy of an accountant from The Good Place.
- When there was a new Latina nurse, Carla became Storm!
- During the first Christmas episode, where JD, about to break the bad news to one of his patients' family, imagined himself waltzing in like a cocky '50's greaser, up to the patient and his family, of which two of the girls are wearing vintage sports jackets, and then proceeds to land a fist on the patient's chest, like a record player, somehow reviving him, and J.D. walking out, sticking both his thumbs out and shouting "'Aaaaayy!"
- JD imagined what exploratory surgery was like.
- The fight between Dr. Cox and Dr. Kelso.
- A Christmas episode has Dr. Cox hating Christmas.
- JD and Turk had fun with the interns.
- JD went crazy one time.
- The surgical and medical students became dancing rival gangs.
- JD has low self esteem.
- JD imagines what wonderful world was beneath bed covers.
- The parody Dr. Cox made.
- At one time Jordan wanted her own talk show named after herself.
- Dr. Cox injures his foot and starts walking around with a limp and using a cane, and solves everyone's mysteries.
- There is a face off between Jordan and Neena, the medical malpractice attorney.
- JD went to pick up Elliot and Carla from jail after they were arrested for trying to buy a prostitute.
- One of JD's patients was a veterinarian and JD imagined what it would be like to work in a horse hospital.
- Outside of the Scrubs universe there have also been ShoutOut's; most notably in Cougar Town as seen in this You Tube clip. Featuring Ted the lawyer who is recounting the end of his relationship with the Gooch because she left him for crazy Hooch.
