Basic Trope: A work ends with the scene that started the entire work.

  • Straight: An episode of the show The Adventures Of Bob starts with Bob's house catching fire and ends with his house catching fire again.
  • Exaggerated: The episode starts with Bob going to bed and leaving a candle burning. Bob's dog then sees Alice's cat in the garden, and jumps at the window, knocking over the candle and setting the house on fire. At the end of the episode, the exact same sequence of events happens again.
  • Downplayed:
  • Justified:
    • Bob didn't go anywhere.
    • The root cause hasn't been identified yet. (Truth in Television: many Real Life problems need to occur at least a few times before the investigators can narrow down on the common points)
  • Inverted: The episode starts with Bob's house catching fire and ends with Bob's house being flooded.
  • Subverted: At the end of the episode, a house catches fire.... but it wasn't Bob's; it was an abandoned house across the road, and thus not a problem for Bob.
  • Double Subverted: ...until the scene pans to Bob's house, which is also caught ablazed.
  • Parodied: Bob jokes about his damaged house being set ablaze again, which actually happens during his sleep.
  • Zig-Zagged: Some episodes tend to start and end in the same location, but others don't.
  • Averted: The episode ends with Bob sleeping in Alice's house.
  • Enforced: "We don't have enough time to draw the interior of Alice's house! Make it end in Bob's house or something." "But the only sets available in Bob's house are the ones designed to look burnt!" "Have it go on fire all over again!"
  • Lampshaded: "I feel like I've been here this morning..."
  • Invoked: Bob purposely sets his house on fire before an episode of The Adventures of Bob ends.
  • Defied: Bob buys a fire alarm to make sure his house doesn't burn down again.
  • Exploited: Bob went back to get something he thinks will be useful during the next episode.
  • Implied: At the end of the episode, Bob is shown lighting a candle. The candle falls to the floor before the scene cuts to black.
  • Discussed: "Wait, why are we here again?"
  • Conversed: "I think we've been here before, like in that movie."
  • Deconstructed: Bob's house already burned down, so it can't burn down again.
  • Reconstructed: Bob's house was rebuilt during the episode.
  • Played for Laughs': The episode involves Bob's hilarious attempts to scratch an itch, and ends with him now having another itch.
  • Played for Drama: The episode was about Bob getting appendicitis. At the end, Alice seems like she has appendicitis.
  • Played for Horror: There was a zombie attack as the plot of the episode... at the end of the episode, another zombie rises from the grave.

Now it's over... oh no! Here We Go Again!
