"You are light and..."
As Trigger takes major inspiration from Ultraman Tiga, it brings along some classic horror of both monsters and Dark Ultras alike, in spite of the series' general lighthearted tone.
    open/close all folders
    Episode 1: "Connection Of Light"
  • The episode opens with Carmeara's petrified body floating through space, alone. And then she's reawakened by a stray meteorite that breaks her prison and lets her out, she proceeds to scream Trigger's name in pure rage as she destroys all her surroundings.
  • Kengo's visions of a Dark Giant that looks at him and fires an energy beam at him. The fact that said vision comes right after the unnerving but benevolent appearance of Yuzare only adds to the creepiness of the scene. Even worse is that nothing about the Dark Giant gets explained nor shown besides its eyes and the color timer.
  • While Five and Tri-King were already big on Body Horror, their successor-of-sorts Golba manages to look worse in spite of its more polished look, as its components show even more of a messed up combination with Melba's upper body half being underscored by grey flesh connecting it to Golza's back, making the fusion look more as if Golza killed Melba and skinned the bird kaiju to wear as a coat.

Episode 2: "Leap to the Future"
  • A minor one, but Gymaira gets his tongue appendages cut off rather brutally by Trigger, there's no bloodshed but it can be quite disturbing.

Episode 3: "The Ultra-Ancient Light and Darkness"
  • Yuna gets kidnapped and held hostage by Hudram, she's then strapped to a chair as Hudram tries to interrogate her for the location of the Eternity Core, and even threatens her life with his sword to try and make her talk.
  • Ignis' rage at seeing Hudram causes dark marks to appear on his face and his voice to gain a threatening tone, which can be extremely jarring compared to his usually polite and relaxed demeanor.
  • Hudram in a fit of rage threatens to destroy Earth and prepares to start, and given how his fellow Dark Giants had to restrain him and drag him away, he was definitely not bluffing about it.

    Episode 4: "For Smiles!"
  • Oka-Gubila is a surprisingly terrifying foe in this series, especially compared to past Gubilas who were either average threats or sympathetic. It destroys several parts of the city in its single-minded pursuit of the Ultra-Ancient Artifact and we get to see people panicking as the Land Shark destroys everything in its path.
  • We also get to see a little girl crying as she got separated from her mother in the chaos, quite the worry for anyone with children or those who have lived through a natural disaster.

    Episode 6: "One Hour Demon"
  • Satandelos manages to be even scarier than the original Gigadelos, it trades off the ability to multiply with a near-impenetrable shield that allows it to overwhelm Trigger in all 3 days of their fights. Even worse as Marluru describes it as a planetary defense weapon that was modified to destroy them instead, and the episode shows that it was modified by none other than Hudram himself to assist in his rampages.
  • The sight of Hudram's aftermath of his genocide of the Lishurians is quite the nightmarish thing, we see the situation from Ignis' perspective, who can only helplessly watch as Hudram spares him out of Cruel Mercy and leaves him wallowing in misery all alone in his now dead world.

    Episode 10: "Wavering Heart"
  • If it wasn't for the fact that it is heavily played for comedy and ultimately is harmless Darrgon stalking and assaulting Yuna while she's all alone can be rather scary for those who've been through similar experiences or dread such a situation ever happening.
  • The reveal at the end that there was a fourth Dark Giant that fought against Yuzare... Trigger Dark. And from the looks of the next episode's preview, he isn't staying as a thing of the past for too long.

Episode 12: "The 30-Million Year Miracle"
  • As she is dragged away by Hudram and Darrgon, Carmeara screams out Kengo's name in pure anger as she swears she'll get her revenge on him for "ruining" Trigger. Just the fact that she knows Kengo's name is chilling enough as there's a chance for her to target Kengo's loved ones now.
  • While it seems like Glitter Trigger Eternity managed to destroy Trigger Dark, the end of the episode has the remaining essence of Trigger Dark possess Ignis. The possession itself is rather unsettling, with Ignis screaming in pain before suddenly going quiet, as he looks straight at the camera and shows a Celebro-worthy Psychotic Smirk.

    Episode 16: "Sneering Destruction"
  • Metsu-Orga as a whole is a scary entity, it is a saurian beast with pale grey skin and bright red eyes that seeks nothing but to consume everything around it and on top of that is always giggling or at least doing the closest thing to a laughing noise that a kaiju can make, making it look even more sinister than the usual monster of the week.
  • Hudram's words imply that he didn't just destroy the Lishurians' homeworld with the usual beams and attacks, but he also ate a few of them, if not all, so he could absorb their lifeforce and memories as means of keeping mementos from his destructions to himself for his amusement.
  • Ignis and Trigger Dark both are terrifying in this episode, with Trigger Dark making sickly noises anytime he moves or attacks and Ignis gradually turning a lot more insane and deranged due to his use of the Dark Sparklence and Trigger Dark's power.
  • At the end of the episode, just as it looked like our heroes had finally stopped Metsu-Orga, a creature bursts out of the first monster's body: Metsu-Orochi, who has all of Metsu-Orga's power and more.

    Episode 17 "Raging Feast"
  • We get a bit of expansion on Ignis' past, as we get to see the friends he had in Lishuria all calling to him happily... Before Hudram comes in and kills them as we hear their screams. Small wonder Ignis was so throughly traumatized.

Episode 18 "Operation Smile No. 1"
  • While the episode is mostly a comedy relief-ladden Breather Episode, the last scene shows a mysterious man watching Trigger. Said man turns to the screen with his eyes glowing and then his chest glows revealing a familiar-looking body part for those who watched the original Ultraman Tiga, telling us who this man really is... He's none other than a Kyrieloid. And judging from the episode preview, he's going after Yuna.

    Episode 22 "Last Game"
  • Carmeara disintegrating Hudram and consuming his essence. Sure, the bastard had it coming to him, but it's still an unexpectedly dark moment that's bound to catch viewers off guard.
