Trivia / Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: The producers for the series weren't thrilled that the new Kyrieloid suit was made specifically for its focus episode and thus couldn't be used outside of it.
  • Creator Cameo:
    • Alien Barossa IV is voiced by director Kiyotaka Taguchi.
    • Mecha Musashin is voiced by Tomonobu Koshi, who directed episodes 16 and 17.
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: The second ending theme is sung by the actors for Kengo (Raiga Terasaka), Yuna (Runa Toyoda), and Akito (Shunya Kaneko).
  • Executive Meddling: According to director Koichi Sakamoto and head-writers Naoki Hayashi and Junichiro Ashiki there was a lot more interference and meddling from the higher-ups at Tsuburaya Productions than most past series resulting in a lot of ideas being cut, watered down or new things added that weren't originally accounted for.
  • Harpo Does Something Funny: Ignis was never intended to appear in episode 8, but his actor was invited to the set by Kiyotaka Taguchi. The director simply told Hosogai to fool around the set while still remaining in-character, hence Ignis trolling the GUTS-Select members while they were busy countering Dada's hacking.
  • Inspiration for the Work: Shoma Muto modelled Trigger Dark as if he was the regular Trigger having been transformed into a Sphere Syntehtic Beast.
  • Meaningful Release Date: The series' premier date (July 10, 2021) is exactly 5 years after the premiere of Ultraman Orb. July 10th is also officially declared as "Ultraman Day".
  • Milestone Celebration: Ultraman Tiga is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2021, hence the show's setting is an alternate interpretation of the former. It also commemorates the Ultra Series' 55th anniversary.
  • Off-the-Shelf FX: For his aerial dogfight with Trigger and Tiga, Kyrieloid was portrayed by a soft vinyl doll with Kyrieloid II's wings attached.
  • Playing Against Type: Sumire Uesaka known for voicing characters like Alice, Cure Cosmo and Hayase Nagatoro portrays Carmeara a Yandere and Dominatrix with a deep voice.
  • Prop Recycling:
    • Golba's suit is a heavily modified and rebuilt Five/Tri-King suit, removing all the C.O.V parts then creating and modifying several new parts to make Golba better resemble both monsters it is based off and even having the chest area be porous akin to base Golza instead of Fire Golza as Five-King's suit was.
    • The Gazort suit is a stage show one that was previously used in Sevenger Fight. However, it was made in mind with it eventually appearing in Trigger ironically enough.
    • Okagubila was made by repainting the long-used Gubila suit from Ultraman Saga and with additional brown parts added to simulate dirt.
    • For Deban's episodes, a stage show suit was used to portray the alien.
    • Deathdrago's suit was made by heavily modifying the Hellberus suit.
    • Satandelos was made by recoloring the Gigadelos suit and adding the barrier emitter part to its torso.
    • Alien Barossa's Pirate Parrot Zandrias reuses the baby Zandrias prop from Ultraman Taiga.
    • Powered Dada's suit is the original one used in Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero with the head taken from a suit used for the tie-in 3DO game.
    • Metsu Orga and Metsu Orochi were both made by repainting the Woola and Maga Orochi suits grey and blue, respectively. Woola's costume was also majorly tweaked on the surface, as the tendrils are removed, the two front legs are also removed and the body is given a more uniform structure.
    • Barriguiler is a repainted Gorothunder.
    • Mecha Musashin was made by modifying and repainting Gurenki's suit, which itself was made by modifying Mecha-Zam's suit from Ultraman Mebius: Ghost Reverse.
  • Troubled Production: As detailed in the Executive Meddling section, Trigger had its fair share of issues to get off the ground and having its storyline finalized. A highlight is that GUTS-Select's late addition into the story took one month of discussion to finish and left the newer characters much less focused on.
  • Voice-Only Cameo: In episode 7, Rima Matsuda reprises her role of Yoko Nakashima from Ultraman Z, present only as a voice coming from Space Sevenger.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The original plan for the series involved 3 different main Ultras with different hosts each (Kengo, Akito and Ignis) akin to Ultraman R/B and Ultraman Taiga. All three would fuse into Trigger Glitter Eternity (hence the triple Color Timer). In the end only 2 heroic Ultras were used and Trigger Glitter Eternity's trio-motif instead came from taking part of the Dark Giants' power. Junichiro Asaki speculates that it was because the weight of the plot with the original concept would've been too much for 25 episodes.
    • Initially only Kengo, Akito, Yuna and Ignis existed as part of the main cast. Tsuburaya higher-ups demanded that a proper attack team was made for the series and thus GUTS-Select and the characters of Captain Tatsumi, Marluru, Himari and Tesshin were all added later into the story, resulting in them being Out of Focus.
    • Akito was initially more prominent than he already was in the story, his role in the final product was a bit more reduced with a plotline involving him befriending Darrgon throughout the series also watered down to shorter interactions.
    • Trigger Dark was initially only meant to last in his two-parter introduction and would've been killed off for good at the end of it. However, it was decided to keep him around as Ignis' Ultraman form out of belief that his design was too good to be underused.
    • Episode 21 supposedly ended with Ignis kidnapping Yuna while showing a sinister smile. The actor had to convince the filming crew to drop the idea, since Ignis by that point had developed a genuine bond with the three main characters. This results with the Lishurian transforming into Trigger Dark before he actually do the deed.
  • You Look Familiar:
    • Tesshin Sakuma is portrayed by Tadashi Mizuno, who previously played Haruo Kume, Riku's employer and owner of Ginga Market in Ultraman Geed.
    • Himari Nanase is portrayed by Meiku Harukawa who had previously portrayed the Victorian Hiyori in Ultraman Ginga.
    • Darrgon is voiced by Shunichi Maki (no relation to the protagonist of Ultraman: The Next), who previously voiced Alien Gapiya Abel in Ultraman Taiga.
