Galo: Side Story

  • Galo really respects and looks up to his hero Kray and is one of the reasons why he wants to do well in Burning Rescue. He wants to repay Kray and this is one of the ways he can do it by helping others.
  • Even without mech gear to protect himself, and being a rookie, Ignis allowed Galo to enter the building to save the last civilian because Galo's plan was the one with the highest likelihood of the civilian getting out safe as Lucia calculated. Although he may not have liked Galo's overzealousness, he ends up acknowledging that Galo's a good firefighter.

Lio: Side Story

  • Lio being adamant that the Burnish do not kill, and they need to show the civilians they don't wish to harm them. He allows Meis and Gueira to join him, to show them that Burnish can live peacefully, far from the government that hunts them down and all without harming those who oppress them.

Film

  • Ignis standing up for Galo when he gets pushed around by Vulcan. He clearly cares for his entire Burning Rescue team, and wants them all safe.
  • The pizza store owner who knew his worker was a Burnish, but allowed him to have this job knowing that not all Burnish were terrorists and he just wanted to make delicious pizza for their customers.
    • Lucia gives a nod of acknowledgement towards the pizza owner when he talks about how not all Burnish are terrorists. Aina even agrees that not all Burnish are at fault, but since it's such a irregular mutation, there's not much normal people can do when they become Burnish.
    • Aina and Galo are supportive of the pizza owner and the Burnish worker, rightfully pointing out he was just making pizza and only fought back because he was threatened by the Freeze Force.
  • Aina declaring she's proud to be related to her sister Heris, and Galo states that Aina should be proud of just being herself.
    • An early hint at how close Aina and Heris are is that Aina has a photo of herself and her sister in her locker.
  • Though the end results is the use of Burnish lives, Heris genuinely wants her little sister to have a better life and is following Kray's orders so she can give Aina that life.
  • Lio's determination to protect other Burnish, as he does everything in he can to secure them after they've gained their powers and take them to the safe haven.
  • Even though Lio was setting his rage against the city, Galo notices the tears streaming from his dragon form's eye and decides to try and rescue him before he does irreparable damage to innocent civilians.
  • Despite everything Kray did, Galo states he’s going to save him along with everybody else.
  • Rather than naming their mech with his name first, Galo renames the Deus X Machina the Lio De Galon, putting the name of his co-pilot first instead of his own.
    • The Heartwarming goes deeper than that. "De" is possessive. By naming the mech Lio De Galon, he was saying that he, Galo, belonged to Lio. And then Lio turns it around on him and names the second form Galo De Lion. They both gave themselves to each other.
      • Assuming "de" is the Latin preposition, that grammar is backwards. Lio de Galon translates to "Lio of Galo" or "Galo's Lio", which is equally heartwarming because he is essentially claiming responsibility for Lio, like saying "you're mine" in an endearing way. Then, Lio returns the favour later, saying that Galo is also his.
  • Lio protecting Galo with his flames as Kray shoots his own at him. Lio and Galo were enemies not too long ago, but now they have a strong enough bond where Lio does what he can to keep the other safe. It's Lio's flame that ends up saving Galo's life on two occasions after that.
    • Also earlier, he uses his flames to heat up a shivering Galo after melting some ice off of him.
  • The same goes for Galo who tries to keep Lio from falling for Kray's taunts and gives him a Kiss of Life to revive him.
  • The kiss! Galo has just saved Lio from the Parnassus's warp drive and sees him turning to ash. Galo absolutely refuses to let him die and, in a last-ditch effort to save his life, takes the last of his temporary flames and puts his mouth to Lio's. The badass rescue song that is playing hits a quiet instrumental part as the shot pans out, highlighting the scene, and Lio's body is soon restored. Many people who have seen the movie in theaters have reported that the audience burst into cheers and applause as the kiss happened, even in cases where they didn't react much to the movie beforehand.
  • Galo asks Lio for him and the other Burnish to lend a hand in rebuilding the city. When Lio falters at the suggestion since he and the others were former Burnish, Galo cheerfully replies that if anyone gives him heat, he'll extinguish it.
  • After defeating Kray and saving the Earth, Galo and Lio bump fists to signify their newfound friendship.
