Trollges

    General
  • Ax-Crazy: Every Trollge seen so far is actively hostile and has killed at least one person, with a couple even performing outright genocide. Bonus points for the ones that literally wield an axe.
  • Evil Brit: The TTS used for their voices has a British accent, and they are most definitely evil.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Their voices, both when speaking and in gameplay, are made using Daniel English Britain TTS, an incredibly deep text-to-speech program.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: Word of God states that the Trollges' black bodies aren't covering any clothing and are just their skin, meaning almost all of the Trollges are naked when Boyfriend encounters them. The only exception is JJ, who's in full clown getup.
  • Humanoid Abomination: The Trollges have creepy faces and lanky, skeletal bodies, and all of them are capable of horrifying, inhuman acts.
  • Laughably Evil: Being based off Trollface, they might seem pretty funny at times, but that doesn't make them any less of a threat.
  • Meaningful Name: All of the known antagonists have songs named after various phobias.
    • Stairway's is "Pterohermanophobia", or a fear of flying - a fear he likely caused in a number of victims after the Heaven's Stairway Incident.
    • The Happy Clown's is "Paedophobia," or a fear of children. According to his case file, this is an inverted case compared to the other Trollges, as he claims to have been protecting several children from an evil he claims is inherently present in adults. Of course, the children don't exactly agree with this opinion, as whatever JJ had been doing had garnered immense fear in the children.
    • When he's fought again under Legion's control, Smiler's song is "Technophobia", or a fear of new technology. His Trollge form's primary method of murder is through Mind Rape with television screens, and he carries one throughout the entirety of "Technophobia".
    • Exhalted's is "Glossophobia", another term for extreme social anxiety. Fitting for a man that hid away from society post-transformation.
    • Derpy's is "Dystichiphobia", or a fear of accidents. While not much is known about Derpy so far, it is known that he Was Once a Man, so this could be a clue that whatever happened to him wasn't intentional.
  • The Nicknamer: They refer to Boyfriend as basically anything except his name. "Blueballs Boy" is used once by both Smiler and Legion, "Honey" is used twice by Legion, and "Cerulean Boy" is used once in the cutscene before "Glossophobia".
  • Nightmare Face: In their Trollge forms, all of the Incidents have pitch-black eyes and Slasher Smiles so large it contorts their own faces.
  • Slasher Smile: The classic, twisted smirk of the original Trollface has been mutated into this, and is present on every Troll Incident.
  • Was Once a Man: Implied by the case transcripts at the end of the main week, which states that most of them were infected by TP cells that transformed them into Troll Incidents.

    Smiler

Smiler

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/troll_sad1.png
"Oh my dear p̸̟͉̽r̶̙͆͊͒i̷̡̼̔̃̕͝ͅn̸͙̰̹͗̆̏͝c̵̮̒ĕ̷̦̊̕͠s̸̫͗͝s̴͓̋... What have I done?"
Trollge Form
Smiler was detected for the first time through local witnesses who related to the authorities of a man with "skeleton-like features, black body and white face", walking surreptitiously on the streets in the town of ██████, those same witnesses related to the police about seeing the man carrying "a large trash bag with what looked like a body inside." Authorities soon found the victim who was a common male in his 20's. There didn't seem to be any links to his past that connect him with the individual, we will therefore send an agent to obtain knowledge about the situation.
-Entry 0023-𝛿
The focus of the mod's primary week, and the first Troll Incident Boyfriend / Agent BLUEBALLS encounters.
  • Came Back Strong: Legion brings him back from his death to challenge Boyfriend again in "Technophobia", and it provides a significantly greater challenge than his previous songs.
  • Connected All Along: He is Derpina's father (or at least, a version of her).
  • Dying as Yourself: Smiler stops being a Trollge during Redemption and dies with a genuine, normal smile on his face.
  • The Eeyore: Thanks to his constant state of guilt, the only times he ever smiles are his Slasher Smiles in Trollge form and his contented smile after Redemption.
  • Head-and-Hip Pose: His left pose once he takes his Trollge form.
  • Life Drain: Causes this during one portion of Incident. It's a very powerful drain, too, requiring near-perfect playing to survive.
  • Madness Mantra: His vocals are just him saying "I did it" over and over.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Utters this to himself multiple times throughout the mod in response to his actions against Derp.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Despite being labeled the Smiler, he is ironically a Perpetual Frowner and the only one with deep-seeded remorse over his actions.
  • Perpetual Frowner: When he's in control of himself, he almost always has a sad expression on his face.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: "Let's do a little trolling."
  • Reluctant Monster: Smiler has gone into a deep depression because of what he did in his Trollge form and tries best as he can to chase off Boyfriend before transforming against him.
  • Stalker without a Crush: Considers Derp to be his best friend, even though Derp doesn't even know him.
  • Starter Villain: The first Trollge to be faced.
  • Token Good Teammate: Downplayed. While he is still unstable due to the TP cell infection, he's significantly less dangerous than the other Trollges due to his Reluctant Monster attitude. Even in the case files, he is listed as a class 4.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Smiler simply wanted Derp to be able to smile, but the insanity caused by his Trollge infection made him do this by torturing and (apparently) gruesomely murdering him. When he comes back to his senses and realizes what he's done, he's also incredibly remorseful.
  • When He Smiles: At the end of Redemption, he gives Boyfriend a genuine smile before disappearing, contrasting the depressed frown and Slasher Smiles of previous forms.

    Stairway

Stairway

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/trollphobia_char2.png
"The rain is coming."
Flying
The mastermind behind Malicious Bunny's take on the infamous Heaven's Stairway Incident. His song is "Pterohermanophobia".
  • Civilization Destroyer: The Heaven's Stairway Incident near-completely cleaned out New York City by making everyone uncontrollably float into the sky.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist:
    • Smiler deeply regrets what he has done. Stairway outright refuses to believe he was doing anything other than trolling.
    • Smiler attacked out of delusions. Stairway attacked For the Evulz.
    • Smiler manages to be saved. Stairway doesn't show any signs of this.
    • Boyfriend and Girlfriend remain their classic, Fearless Fool personality when fighting Smiler, with some small exceptions during "Incident". The Heaven's Stairway Incident is so horrifying and evil that Boyfriend and Girlfriend are visibly pissed at Stairway for what he has done.
  • Death Flight: Causes a form of this for the entirety of New York, making everyone there float into the sky with the power of Insane Troll Logic to inevitably fall to their deaths.
  • Eviler than Thou: Smiler torturing Derp was a horrifying act, but Stairway did something far, far worse. And then Legion manages to pull this on Stairway.
  • Hate Sink: While nowhere near as bad as Legion, Stairway is given no sympathetic traits and is only portrayed as a sadist that murdered an entire city For the Evulz.
  • Ignored Epiphany: He initially felt remorse for killing Derpy, but gets over it seconds later by a "Just Joking" Justification.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Well, he is an insane troll... but somehow his plan to make everybody float by filling their bodies with oil works.
  • "Just Joking" Justification: As he goes insane upon killing Derpy, he tries to justify the murder to himself by claiming he was "just trolling".
  • Karma Houdini: Word of God states the real Stairway has never met Boyfriend or any other member of the TCF, and went to hide from society after committing his crimes.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Near the end of "Pterohermanophobia", Stairway transports Boyfriend out into the devastated New York City and starts flying with a crazed look in his eye. This is even accompanied by a speed-up in the music.
  • Madness Mantra: Devolves into this after murdering Derpy, telling himself constantly that he was "just trolling".
  • Never My Fault: He absolutely refuses to believe what he did to Derpy was his fault.
  • One-Hit Kill: Occasionally during '"Pterohermanophobia", a smaller Trollge entity will grab the health bar and swing an axe at it. If your health is anywhere below where the axe lands, Boyfriend is instantly blueballed.

    The Happy Clown

The Happy Clown

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c_l_o_w_n.png
"Why does everyone accuse me? I never did anything, it was him. Everything that I want...it's to protect them."
The foundation encountered the individual locked in a basement with dozens of children. Following numerous investigation and questioning with citizens and local authorities, there was found to be some kind of widespread fear and confusion about the order of some events. What was known until then is that children were found dead in a forest, and that a local clown had taken others to a basement, and everytime an adult dared to approach the clown he would react with enormous aggressivity and triggered a profound amount of fear in his victims, leading up to chronic insanity, and eventually death. The foundation was able to successfully capture him after an extensive number of failed attempts, he is now currently locked up in an extremely small metal cage due to his aggressive nature upon any individual, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any viable way to transport him inside the foundation, so the individual remains in his original world, constantly being watched.
-Entry 0036-Π
Formerly a regular man named James Jacob, he was transformed into a Trollge incident through his own dark desires and kidnapped several children to "protect" them. He appears in "Paedophobia".
  • Fat Bastard: He and Trollfriend are the only Trollges not to be lanky black skeletons. JJ is instead a very girthy and obese Monster Clown. As for the bastard part, even though he think he's protecting children, he is a Trollge and as such, a killer, so he counts.
  • Friend to All Children: He tries to be this by "protecting" many children in his basement from evil, but said kids are just as terrified of him as the adults he kills. Wonder why that is...
  • Mind Rape: He is capable of inducing insanity instantaneously just by looking at someone, forcing the TCF to blindfold him while he was in containment.
  • Mistaken for Murderer: People believed that he murdered children when many bodies were found in the woods and even more children were discovered locked in his basement. However, as an interview in his TCF file reveals, he was actually trying to protect them from what he believed was an inherent evil in adults.
  • Monster Clown: This is obvious from his name alone.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: All he wanted to do was protect children from evil, but his method of doing this — locking several of them in his basement — was perhaps not the best choice.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Subverted; despite people automatically assuming this when they found children in his basement, he was actually "protecting" them in his own twisted perception.
  • Your Mind Makes It Real: Stands out from the other Troll Incidents as his mutation wasn't caused by TP Cells, but rather his own twisted desires consuming him.

    Exhalted

Exhalted

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pianoman_1.png
"I know how much you want to impress her, but don't be reckless..."
The individual appears to be a post mortem manifestation of a musician formerly known as "Jhenkins", somehow, the intense wish and nostalgia for his music ended up recreating his existence through the influence of T cells. The individualwas previously sighted wandering through the streets at a small town located in Rio de Janiero where he began surreptitiously killing, creating panic and fear between locals to the point of being classified as a "Serial Killer". After an investigation 3 agents were sent, however, there was an interference of ████████, due to human error caused while the agents shifted between worlds. Somehow the █████████ clashed with the individual, and after what appeared to be a musical duet the individual surrendered himself, leading up to him being locked up in a standard room inside the TCF.
-Entry 0007-β
A famous pianist who seemingly had everything before soon being driven mad by his audience's demand for more, causing him to transform into a Trollge incident and go into hiding. He appears in "Glossophobia".
  • Badass Cape: Wears one throughout all of "Glossophobia".
  • Friendly Enemy: He's surprisingly kind and cordial towards Boyfriend in the Game Over sequence for "Glossophobia", telling him that he can take as many tries as he needs and that he reminds him of himself when he was younger, showing that there's still some Jhenkins in there. It's also been confirmed by Word of God that the redacted agent in his TCF file is Boyfriend, indicating that the two have been friends for a while before the events of the mod.
  • I Was Quite the Looker: His backstory has him depicted as Animesque pretty boy. His Trollge form, just like the rest of them… isn't as attractive looking.
  • Mad Artist: Exhalted was a famous pianist in the past, but was then driven mad by his demanding fanbase and the death of his lover and started killing people.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He is only around for one cutscene explaining his own backstory and a song, but Legion's comment on him confirms that he was the BF and GF's first chronological encounter with a Trollge Incident. Inspiring them to join the TCF, and setting the ENTIRE mod into motion.
  • Your Mind Makes It Real: This was how he came into existence according to his TCF file, brought back to life by the world's nostalgia for his music.

    Legion

Legion

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/athaza.png
"We are all right here. Your friends, your family, your passion, and everyone in your world. Everyone. EVERYTHING. We are just me."
In the middle of a night in a normal spring day, a weekly talk show was in place, with nothing uncommon occurring. The guests were laughing along with the public enjoying themselves, everything seemed completely fine, until the cameraman backed away from his spot, walked up to the host, slashing his throat mercilessly. It's known that after the event, true chaos followed as everyone started running away in fear from the crime scene, with only the host and individual remaining. Until then this wouldn't be an anomalous situation, if it weren't for the individual's appearance who was in stage 2 of the █████████.
-Entry 0023-𝛿
Legion, also known as T_333, is the main antagonist of The Blueballs Incident, forcing Boyfriend to battle with various Trollges to try and break him mentally. His last stand is in the song "Athazagoraphobia".
  • A God Am I: He declares himself a god once he has finally assimilated Boyfriend's soul, alongside everyone else on the planet.
Legion: [Upon Boyfriend choosing to give up] "I GOT IT! I FINALLY GOT IT! YES! ALL OF US... WE ARE LEGION. We become one, and I became God. Now nothing, and no one, will forget me. All these minds... All these souls... Everyone is looking at me. Just at me."
  • Apocalypse How: You thought Stairway laying waste to all of New York was bad? By the time the player has reached "Athazagoraphobia", Legion has successfully claimed the souls of every living person on Earth.
  • Attention Whore: And how. Legion's plot to assimilate everyone on Earth is ultimately driven by his desire not to be forgotten: when he finally claims Boyfriend's soul, he gleefully remarks about how everyone is looking at him, and only at him. Appropriately, his song is titled 'Athazagoraphobia', after the fear of forgetting or being forgotten.
  • Big Bad: Of the mod.
  • Cold Ham: Legion speaks in an even tone throughout almost the entire mod, but he has a tendency towards dramatic tangents, shows a glimpse of his psychotic side in the cutscene before "Dystichiphobia", and pulls off shockingly extravagant, graceful poses in "Athazagoraphobia".
  • Eviler than Thou: Manages to pull this one on Stairway.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He talks rather casually with Boyfriend between battles, often going off on random tangents just for the hell of it. He's also a psychotic, world-destroying creature that spends the entire mod fucking with Boyfriend to mentally break him.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: He was formerly a human named Arthur, who dreamed of being big enough to make people smile when he was a child. By the time he had the ability to do this, however, he had been unceremoniously forgotten by the world. This however hardly justifies him since it's implied he willingly chose to become a Trollge and he's even less justified with his actions.
  • Hate Sink: While Boyfriend was merely seeking out and capturing or neutralizing the other Trollge entities, when Legion turns Girlfriend into one of them, once he resolves the situation and regains control of his senses, Boyfriend makes it very clear just how much he hates Legion.
"How pathetic... You. You pathetic creature. All this time... of all those I have faced, you are the only person that I really hate."
  • Just Toying with Them:
    • In the Funkin' Forward trailer, he decides to play a "game" with the POV character, flipping a coin to determine their fate. Said coin lands on tails, causing him to attack.
    • His TCF file implies he was pulling this on the entire Trollge Containment Foundation up until his encounter with Boyfriend, ignoring their attempts at interviewing him while singing to himself and showing off his powers by cracking jokes about the agents' personal lives.
  • Lean and Mean: While this applies most of the Trollges (aside from JJ and Trollfriend) this is even more apparent with Legion in his default form, being of similar height to the other Trollges, being even skinnier than them and being the Big Bad of the mod.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is pretty fitting for an eldritch being who happens to assimilate almost every living human on the planet to torment Boyfriend, just for the sake of never being forgotten.
  • Medium Awareness: He knows full well that Boyfriend is able to restart a song when he's defeated, telling him to "go ahead and die over and over again" in the cutscene before "Paedophobia".
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Utters the trope name exactly when his obtaining godhood summons what may be the original Trollface.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: His attempts to use Troll Cells to take over the world attract the attention of their progenitor, which ultimately allows Boyfriend to defeat him.
  • Pre-Explosion Glow: After Boyfriend manages to successfully cure Girlfriend of her transformation into a Trollge entity and attacks Legion by singing a sustained high note, Legion begins to erupt into light as he dies screaming.
  • Precision F-Strike: His reaction upon beating "Technophobia" is to ask "how the fuck [Boyfriend] still stands", noteworthy as there is almost no swearing anywhere else in the mod. He also lets out an "Oh, shit" before Boyfriend kills him.
  • Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises: Sports these in "Athazagoraphobia", showing that he's done messing around.

    Trollface

Trollface

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/trollface_1.png
   Ḩ͈̂͡um̰̳͈̔͊̑ȃ͕̟͖͂͛̆͟͜͡ṉ͎͐͗i̙̙̞̱̍̊̌͛t͓̚ý͢ ͇͗i̹̬̥͑̈͌ș͍̹̥̓͑̂̇̕ͅ ̼͉̻̆̍̾s̛̰͇͈̞̋̌̚o̥̜̭͐̆͆ ̹̇a̳̥͗̂̌ͅt̯̝̏̀ṱ̡̻̌͋͠á̱̮̟̈́̏c̹̮̓͛ḩ̭̙̼́̐̅͝e̜͂d͙͂       t̩̦͊̃̌͢o͍̎ ̧̮̠̥̅͂̕͡ṯ̎h̜̙͙̘̳͒̀̒͑̌e̝͠ ̠͠p͎̂a̭͙̣̜̾̏̔̋s͎̜͚̒̈́t̻͊.̘̫͛̓.̼͎̠̜̃̀̾̊.̢͓̲͙́́̌͋
One of the Troll Incidents mentioned in the case transcripts after the main week is completed.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Is he responsible for Boyfriend being able to save Girlfriend after beating Legion's song? He does say that someone will need to "prove" themselves during his monologue, before finishing by whispering that "We have a deal", and the drainage effect in "My Dear Love" is gone after "Athazagoraphobia" is beaten. On the other hand, his appearance and Legion's terrified reaction after seeing him appear in front of him, questioning "My god, what have I do-" definitely do not scream "good guy". Unless the mod or creators provide a definitive answer, the situation surrounding him and "My Dear Love" remains a complete mystery.
    • Are Trollface, the 3D Trollge, and the mysterious voice even the same entity to begin with?
  • The Dreaded: If he's the mysterious Trollge who appears in front of Legion after he successfully assimilated everyone, then Legion's reaction says it all.
  • Eldritch Abomination: In sharp contrast to the other Trollges, he is heavily implied to not be a former human at all. If he's the mysterious voice, he repeatedly refers to humanity while deriding them as if he is separated from them.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: The only hint given of his existence is the case transcript at the end of the main week, but unlike the other four, access to it is denied.
    • Same case for when he presumably does appear in person. Legion is quietly terrified, and (who possibly is) Trollface does not say a word during his only appearance, before crashing the game. The scene leaves you with absolutely no answers about what exactly Trollface is, or why Legion was so scared.
  • Predecessor Villain: He's listed as Case 0000 and he shares the name with Trollge's predecessor, heavily implying he's this. His possible monologue in "Athazagoraphobia" heavily supports this, as well as implying he's something far beyond all the other Trollges.
  • The Unfought: As of 2.0 he’s the only Trollge that doesn’t have a song. Who presumably is him easily overpowering and possibly killing the now-godlike Legion at the end of his song may provide a reason for that: it's simply futile to even try fighting him.

    Superboss

Trallface

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tralling.png
"TRALLING"
A strange Trollge who indulges in tralling rather than trolling.
  • All Your Powers Combined: "Your Mom" has Trallface summon Denser and Wackier versions of other Trollge at various points, each of which add their respective mechanics to the song.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Does he truly exist, or is he simply non-canon? The FCT doesn't seem to have a file for him, but he's seemingly not as violent as any of the other Trollges. Plus, the song is entirely self-contained, lacking dialogue or cutscenes for context.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Despite being a joke character and the polar opposite of intimidating, "Your Mom" is one of the hardest songs in the mod thanks to its mixture of various mechanics, to the point that it had to be nerfed in a minor patch.
  • Denser and Wackier: He is this to the other Trollges. Whereas the other Trollges have killed at least one person, and usually torture people in some way, Trallface is only shown telling himself that he was just doing a little tralling.
  • Disney Acid Sequence: "Your Mom" looks like this.
  • Fun with Flushing: For some reason, losing to Trallface initiates a cutscene where he flushes himself down a toilet.
  • Good Counterpart: To the original Trollface, if his name is anything to go by. He also acts as one to Legion, possessing his ability to summon Trall versions of Smiler, Stairway, JJ and Derpy, who also act as this to their respective Trollges. "Le Trallface" also implies him to be this to Stairway, as it's based off of Stairway's scene of Sanity Slippage.
  • Insistent Terminology: He wasn't trolling, he was tralling.
  • Superboss: His song isn’t mandatory and doesn’t contain any lore or story content, which is a good thing because it’s the hardest song in the game.
  • Your Mom: The name of his song, making it the only song added in the 2.0 update to not be named after a phobia outside of "My Dear Love" and "大好き".

Derps

True Form
"What the hell happened to you? Who did this? ...What?! Do not approach! Get away from me! I SAID, GET AWAY FROM ME! What did I do... This is not my fault... Why... I'm just... I'm just trolling. Yes. None of this was my fault, right? I was just trolling. Yes, trolling. All of that was just... just trollge."
-Stairway, "The First Trollge Incident"
A deformed, Trollge-like version of Derp seen in "The First Trollge Incident". His song's name is "Dystichiphobia".

Insane Form
Athazagoraphobia:
Post-incident
Also known by the Atrocious Alias "Agent BLUEBALLS", Boyfriend is (as usual) the protagonist of the mod going through Legion's personal Hell. This version of him, however, is very different from his canonical counterpart.
  • Atrocious Alias: His codename, Agent BLUEBALLS.
  • Berserk Button: Having his beloved Girlfriend turned into a Trollge by Legion is what causes him to finally snap.
  • Brown Note: This mod establishes that Boyfriend's singing can directly affect opponents, and he kills Legion by singing an extremely loud and sustained note that inflicts incredible pain on the latter for good measure.
  • The Determinator: No matter what Legion puts him through, Boyfriend doesn't back down once, not even in the middle of his Sanity Slippage or when Legion has practically won already.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: "Blueballs Boy". In the cutscene after "Dystichiphobia", Legion refers to him as that, prompting Boyfriend to demand, "NEVER CALL ME THAT AGAIN.", though he didn't mind Smiler calling him that, meaning he didn't want Legion to call him by the same name rather than disliking the name itself.
  • Fearless Fool: As Always though him being afraid of Derpy shows that even he has limits.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Had he not taken Legion's deal right after the events of the main week, none of the rest of the mod would've taken place.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Boyfriend couldn't give less of a damn about Legion's tragic backstory, directly telling him off for how vile he is before killing him off.
  • Idiot Hero: While he’s a trained TCF agent and is able to kill or contain any Trollge’s… he’s still a massive idiot considering he accepts a challenge from the very Obviously Evil Legion which leads to him suffering.
  • Good Is Not Nice: After successfully saving Girlfriend in a second run of "My Dear Love", Boyfriend confronts Legion personally, gives a brutal "The Reason You Suck" Speech, and kills him with a sustained high note.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: After Girlfriend is turned into a Trollge, he snaps. He gets better.
  • It's Personal: After Legion turns Girlfriend into a Trollge and Boyfriend cures her, he states the because of that, Legion is the only Trollge he fought that he truly hates.
  • Red Right Hand: During 大好き and the scene after we see that Boyfriend's right arm is pitch black after dealing with Legion, making it seem as if he had to use so much power to destroy him that it made him begin turning into an entity, though the process was halted in time.
  • Sanity Slippage: Suffers this as the mod goes on thanks to Legion's mind games. After "Dystichiphobia", he very clearly can't take any more of Legion's ramblings, and once Girlfriend is transformed into a Trollge, he completely snaps, nearly becoming one himself. He gets better eventually, thankfully.

    Girlfriend (SPOILERS UNMARKED)

Girlfriend

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gffile_3.png
As cute as ever! Would be a shame if something happened...
Thanatophobia
My Dear Love
Post-Incident
Girlfiend appears alongside Boyfriend (as usual), giving support to her beloved. She once again acts as the tutorial, with "Philophobia". Legion's final, and near-successful, attempt to break Boyfriend's mind is to corrupt her and transform her into one of his kind. This version of her, henceforth referred to as "Trollfriend", is fought in "Thanatophobia" and "My Dear Love".
  • Adaptational Species Change: A relatively minor one and the only difference between herself and her base game self is that she is half Oni on Mommy Mearest's side here.
  • Art Shift: Alongside The Happy Clown, Trollfriend is one of the most smoothly animated opponents in the mod, having her animations move between key frames with a surprising amount of fluidity. Her icon also differs from all the others, in that it is animated as well.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Compared to the other Trollges that have degenerated into skeletal monsters, Trollfriend retains her curvy figure when transformed and largely retains much of her recognizable features. The worst that happens to her appearance is the gaining of clawed fingers and pale yellow eyes, her skin and hair becoming extremely pale, and becoming significantly taller.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: As Trollfriend.
  • Fighting from the Inside: Girlfriend consistently tries to fight off the Trollge infection in "Thanatophobia", clutching her head in pain and letting out occasional "lefts", "rights", "ups", and "downs" alongside her new singing voice.
  • High-Heeled Feet: Trollfriend's feet resembles high heels. This trope comes into play when Word of God reveals she's completely naked as Trollfriend.
  • Hopeless Boss Fight: "My Dear Love" features a continuous health drain effect which will always result in you failing the first time around. When played again after "Athazagoraphobia", this effect can be stopped by pressing space, allowing Boyfriend to succeed in purifying Girlfriend.
  • Locked into Strangeness: Even after being cured Girlfriend’s hair and skin is still pale, albeit with more colour than her Trollge form.
  • The Smurfette Principle: As Trollfriend, she's the only female Trollge instance.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Like the other Trollges, the effects of Girlfriend's transformation into Trollfriend have made her ridiculously tall - even moreso than most of the others fought before - being of a similar height to her parents in the base game. Unlike the other Trollges, she remains about as attractive as her uninfected self.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She not only retains her curvy figure after becoming Trollfriend, but her more attractive physical features are enhanced rather than reduced or outright eliminated like the other Trollges.
  • Teleport Spam: Whenever she calls out a direction in "Thanatophobia", Trollfriend sends herself and Boyfriend to a number of different locations, including the alley from Smiler's week, plus a stage and atop a limousine driven by Trollge entities, referencing her parents' stages in the base game.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Her singing voice in her infected form is rather soft and soothing compared to her maniacal expressions.
  • Walking Spoiler: Mainly due to Trollfriend.
  • When She Smiles: While this doesn't apply to her usually due to the fact we rarely see her not smiling (Outside of Pterohermanophobia and Technophobia), it does apply to her as Trollfriend as at the end of My Dear Love we can see a small but genuine smile on her face rather than the Slasher Smile she had during most of Thanatophobia.
