    King Tristwin Ernes Belfast

Voiced by: Joji Nakata (Japanese), David Wald (English), Dafnis Fernández (Latin American Spanish)

Yumina's father, the King of Belfast. He and Touya meet when Touya saves him from an assassination attempt.
  • The Good King: He was targeted for assassination because he wanted to open peaceful negotiations with the demi-humans of Mismede rather than resort to war.
  • Camera Fiend: After being granted with a mass-produced smartphone, immediately set off to take pictures of baby Yamato.
  • I Owe You My Life: For saving his life, the King offers Touya money, knighthood, a mansion, and his daughter.
  • I Want Grandkids: After Touya finally accepts his engagement to Yumina, the King immediately tells them he wants some grandchildren. Yumina punches her father in the gut.
  • Like a Son to Me: King Tristwin sees Touya as the son he never had, and deeply wants to formally adopt him as heir to his throne. To the extent that he's disappointed when his second child is an actual son, thus disqualifying Touya from ruling.
  • Lord Country: He's the King of Belfast and has his kingdom's name for a surname.
  • Master of All: He briefly gains all of Touya's powers during the final battle against the Mutant Phrase through the use of a magic app that had been distributed to everyone's smartphones.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Naturally, since his first meeting with Touya was after he'd been saved, the King is more than happy to help Touya with anything he may need.
  • Shipper on Deck: When Yumina says she wants to marry Touya, the King agrees immediately, shoots down all of Touya's arguments, and even bends the rules of the engagement to give Yumina time to win him over. When their engagement is finalized after Touya commits to it, he is very pleased to see that Yumina has "conquered" Touya.

    Queen Yuel Ernea Belfast

Voiced by: Yumi Kakazu (Japanese), Morgan Garrett (English), Analiz Sánchez (Latin American Spanish)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuel_belfast_anime.png
Yumina's mother and the Queen of Belfast.
  • Cleavage Window: Her usual dress.
  • Engagement Challenge: She told Yumina that if she fails to make Touya hers that Yumina will end up being a nun.
  • Shipper on Deck: When Touya agrees to stay engaged to Yumina for two years before making a final decision, the Queen urges Yumina to do her best to win Touya's heart. Like her husband, she's pleased when it succeeds.

    Prince Yamato Ernes Belfast
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yamato_ernes_belfast.png

The infant prince of Belfast.

    Duke Alfred Ernes Ortlinde

Voiced by: Taiten Kusunoki (Japanese), Christopher Sabat (English), Raúl Solo (Latin American Spanish)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alfred_ernes_ortlinde_anime.png
The brother of King Tristwin and father of Sushie.
  • Competition Freak: Whether its shogi or riding a bicycle, Alfred loves winning at it.
  • Just One More Level!: The Duke's reaction to learning Shōgi is to ask for "just one more game?" late at night.
  • Like a Son to Me: Like his brother, Duke Alfred sees Touya as the son he never had. For that reason, he never had any opposition whatsoever to Sue's desire to marry Touya and, in fact is the one who makes it happen by publicly declaring Touya to be her fiancé so that Prince Zabune can't get her.
  • Papa Wolf: When Prince Zabune, a known rapist and pedophile, states that he's chosen Sue to be his bride, Duke Alfred says that if the Prince were in Belfast right now, he'd beat him to death with his own hands. He doesn't care if it would start a war.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He's the first noble (aside from Sue) Touya encounters. He takes an instant liking to Touya and later vouches for him on behalf of the King.

    Ellen Ernea Ortlinde

Voiced by: Asami Yano (Japanese), Tia Ballard (English), Alexandra Vicencio (Latin American Spanish)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ellen_ortilinde3jpg.jpg
Wife of the Duke and mother of Sue, who had withdrawn from the public due to blindness.
  • Mystical Pregnancy: After her and Alfred began experiencing difficulties conceiving a second child, Touya loaned them a magic artifact called the Life Blesser; A necklace with an enchantment that greatly increases the chances of conception if a woman wears it during sex. It's due to this artifact that Ellen became pregnant with Edward.
  • Reflectionless Useless Eyes: When Touya and the girls first met her, she was still suffering from the aftereffects of an illness she had years ago, and the resulting blindness caused her eyes to look like this.

    Edward Ernes Ortlinde
The infant son of Duke Ortlinde and Ellen.
  • Mystical Pregnancy: He was the result of Ellen wearing a magic fertility-enhancing necklace during sex.

Government Workers

    Charlotte

Voiced by: Yuuki Kuwahara (Japanese), Alexis Tipton (English), Laura Sánchez (Latin American Spanish)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/charlotte_anime.png
The Court Mage for the King of Belfast, and student of Leen.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: She was probably hit with this worse than any other character. The anime added some ship tease moments between her and Touya, as well as heavy BDSM undertones to her apprenticeship with Leen.
  • Ambiguously Bi: She gets very..."excited"...when discussing Touya's abilities, and her relationship with Leen has heavy BDSM undertones.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: Touya created and enchanted a pair of glasses for her that allow her to read Ancient Spirit Script. He's quick to notice how well the glasses suit her.
  • Butt-Monkey: Leen loves to abuse and punish Charlotte. The relationship has a vaguely sexual vibe to it in the anime.
  • Court Mage: She is the mage in service to the King of Belfast. Prior to Touya's arrival, she was the only known human character with an aptitude for at least five elements (fire, water, earth, wind and light). For context, having more than two affinities is considered rare.
  • Darwinist Desire: In the anime, she's very attracted to Touya because of his magical capabilities.
  • Luminescent Blush: When she sees Touya perform Recovery, she gains a very lewd blush. When she finds out he can use multiple affinities, it deepens even further.
  • Summon Magic: Her lifelong dream was to see a spirit after meeting one as a child, so she studied everything she could about spirit magic, only for Touya to teach her what he learned from the spirits themselves about spirit summoning and contracting. Upon the creation of a contract with a Sylph, she received a magic stone that allows her contracted spirit to be called upon.

    Leon Blitz

Voiced by: Hiroki Yasumoto (Japanese), Jarrod Greene (English), Dan Osorio (Latin American Spanish)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leon_in_another_world_with_my_smartphone_1.png

The commander of Belfast's military and personal bodyguard of the royal family.

  • Badass Normal: He has no magical affinities to speak of, but makes up for it in raw physical strength.
  • The Big Guy: He's the muscle in the court of Belfast.
  • Boxing Battler: Known as Fire Fist Leon, there's a famous story about him dueling stone golems with his pair of flame-enchanted gauntlets.
  • Competition Freak: When he, the King and the Duke get together at the beach, they can't help but compete at swimming.
  • Honorary True Companion: The instant Touya rescues the King, Leon declares he likes him. Following that, Leon would go to hell and back at Touya's request.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: He forms one with Elze after he learns that she also specializes in hand to hand combat.

    Dr. Raul
Belfast Castle's royal physician.
  • Adapted Out: He was present performing a checkup on the king after he was poisoned in the novel, but he was completely left out of the anime.
  • Court Physician: Serves as this to the royal family of Belfast.
  • Deadpan Snarker: When Yumina asks Lucia to come "discuss" something with her after she realizes that Lu loves Touya, Raul mutters "Catfight..." under his breath.
  • Everyone Can See It: He was able to tell immediately that Princess Lucia was smitten with Touya after he saved her life.
  • Secret-Keeper: Agreed to hide the fact that Touya was providing refuge to the Emperor of Regulus after saving him from a coup.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leim_anime.png

The younger brother of Laim and the head butler of the Ortlinde household.

  • Accents Aren't Hereditary: In the anime, he speaks with an American accent while his brother speaks with a British accent.
  • Alliterative Family: His brother's name, Laim, is only one letter off from his own.
  • Near-Death Experience: He nearly died from taking an arrow to the chest before Touya showed up and was able to heal him.

Knight Order

    Lyon Blitz

Voiced by: Soma Saito (Japanese), Ricco Fajardo (English), Miguel Ángel Leal (Latin American Spanish)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lyon_blitz_anime.png
A knight in the knight order of the Kingdom of Belfast and the son of Leon.
  • Butt-Monkey: Touya and Neil have fun teasing him with their paralysis-enchanted weapons.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: He couldn't bring himself to confess to Olga until Touya tricked him into it.
  • Family Theme Naming: His name Lyon is one letter away from his father's name, Leon.
  • Happily Married: To Olga Strand.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: His father is loud and boisterous while Lyon is quiet and reserved.
  • Men Don't Cry: Defied. He broke down sobbing at his wedding after Touya used magic to create a slideshow of major memories from his and Olga's lives.
  • Tough Love: Leon raised him so he wouldn't end up as a spoiled brat like others in the nobility.

    Neil Suleiman

Voiced by: Hidenari Ugaki (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/neil_suleiman_1.png

A deputy general in Belfast's knight order.

  • Cool Old Guy: Despite his age and position, he's not above joking around with his friends.
  • Morph Weapon: He was gifted by Touya with a transforming weapon that can turn into a spear, sword and dagger along with non-lethal mode with paralysis.
  • Tranquil Fury: He sternly and coldly delivered a major "Reason You Suck" Speech to a group of noble-born knights who had been harassing Touya before dismissing them from the order entirely.

    Will

Voiced by: Aimi Tanaka (Japanese), Kristen McGuire (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/will_in_another_world_with_my_smartphone.png

A young adventurer from Sandora who, alongside Rebecca and Logan, rescued a group of slaves before meeting Touya. At Touya's recommendation, he eventually joined Belfast's knight order.

  • BFS: He was wielding one of these when he was first introduced, but it was clearly too big for him to handle. After he told Touya about his grandfather's weight-altering Null magic, Touya used it to make Will's weapon lighter.
  • Rescue Romance: He fell in love with Wendy, one of the slave girls he helped rescue.
  • Slave Liberation: He, Rebecca, and Logan were hired to help transport cargo across Sandora, but immediately turned on their employer when they learned that the cargo was a group of girls who were kidnapped and enslaved.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: When he mentioned Touya his uncle's Gravity spell which Touya used extensively in figthing the phrase and creating weapons.

Nobility

    Viscount Swordrick
A Belfastian noble who was trained by Yae's father in his youth.
  • Adapted Out: The scene of Touya's party visiting him, as well as his mock-battle with Yae were left out of the anime.
  • Master of Illusion: He utilizes the "Shadesword" technique, which allows him to conjure a lifelike vision of a fake weapon while simultaneously masking the presence of his real weapon.
  • Occidental Otaku: Wears Eashenese garments, has an Eashenese dojo on his property, uses an Eashenese fighting style, and dons Eashenese Samurai armor for serious battles.

    Count Balsa

Voiced by: Kouji Ishii (Japanese), Chris Guerrero (English), Eduardo Fonseca (Latin American Spanish)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/barza_in_another_world_with_my_smartphone.png

A vile nobleman who spearheaded an elaborate plot to get Belfast to declare war on Mismede.

  • The Chessmaster: He attempted two separate plots to get the king to declare war on Mismede, and both of them were foiled by Touya.
    • He first hired a summoner to attack Sue's carriage, with the intention of holding her hostage unless the Duke and the King complied to his demands.
    • He then poisoned the king's wine glass and attempted to make it look like Olga, the Mismedian ambassador to Belfast, gave the king poisoned wine. Touya was quick to observe that this plan was full of holes, as it would eventually be discovered that the wine was never poisoned.
  • Fantastic Racism: He hates demihumans, and was willing to kill the king and blame it on Mismede's ambassador Olga so that Belfast could declare war on the kingdom of demihumans.
  • Hate Sink: Like most villains in this series, there are absolutely zero redeeming qualities about this guy. It's even revealed later that he caused an entire family to commit suicide after he stole everything from them.
  • I Never Said It Was Poison: He outs himself as the one responsible for the assassination attempt when he freaks out after he believes he drank from the wine glass that he had poisoned.
  • Obviously Evil: Just from his normal mannerisms/looks alone is more than enough to identify him as a villain that it's hardly even a spoiler, just a matter of nailing his treachery in the act, which allows Touya to oust him as the despicable villain he really is.
  • Off with His Head!: After his crimes were exposed, he was publicly executed via guillotine.

Citizens

    Dolan

Voiced by: Nobuaki Kanemitsu (Japanese), Cris George (English), Héctor Moreno (Latin American Spanish)

  • Friendly Shopkeeper: Quite approachable for a weapon shop owner.

The owner of a clothing shop in Reflet and a good friend of Touya's.

  • Accidental Hero: Zanac tasked Touya with delivering a letter to the capital, which unknowingly led to Touya's party rescuing Sue from a would-be kidnapper. Duke Ortlinde felt as though he should send thanks to Zanac for it.
  • Alliterative Name: Zanac Zenfield
  • Eccentric Fashion Designer: Interested in the bizarre nature of the outfit, he was just a tad too eager to inspect and purchase Touya's school uniform. He even barged in on him while he was changing, asking if he'd be willing to sell him his undergarments as well.
  • First Friend: He's the first person Touya met in the new world, and also the first person he befriended.
  • Giver of Lame Names: He named his clothing store "Fashion King Zanac" which is Lampshaded by Touya.
