    Hanasaki Miyabi

Hanasaki Miyabi [JP: 花咲みやび]

Konmiyabi!

"A cute boy with a trademark peach blossom hairpin. He has a soft and gentle personality. He works hard every day to become a wonderful idol. He often loses track of time when he plays a game he really loves. Due to his weak constitution, he mostly relaxes at home but when he does go out his "Frail skill" is unleashed."

Debut date: June 8th, 2019
Birthday: March 3rd
Age (at debut): 18
Height: 174 cm (180cm with his boots)
Fanbase name: Hanamigumi
Illustrator: hou (original, 100k-sub), ne-on (White Day, Summer, New Year's)
Channel: Youtube
Social Media: Twitter

  • Adorable Abomination: His Hanasaki forest animals...can leave quite the impression on people. Hilariously enough, it takes him making Kyomu Suzume out of wool for him to realise their creepiness.
Miyabi: If kids saw this right now, they'd cry...even I'd cry...
  • Affectionate Nickname: His overseas fans call him MMT, short for 'Miyabi Maji Tenshi'. Within Holostars, he's also called "始祖," which means "founder" or "originator."
  • Alternate Timeline: A core point of his 3rd birthday live, 'Another Day's Birthday'. The live splits between him simply spending his birthday with his friends, versus another timeline where he performs with them as an idol.
  • Ambiguously Human: Parodied. Has claimed to be a spirit of a flower, a fairy, and a flower wizard before as a joke, but has expressed interest in re-working his profile to be more fantastical after looking at the profiles of the latter generations. Emphasized during the fifth episode of Wachastars where he stated that even after one hundred years, he'd still be eighteen. Oga has outright claimed that Miyabi isn't human on one of his streams, instead believing he's a fairy or an incarnation of the Hanasaki forest.
  • Bad Liar: From Temma's observations from his 'House of Thought' series, Shien and Miyabi aren't very good at lying, and tend to get exposed quite quickly.
  • Birds of a Feather: With Shien, with whom he shares many of his otaku interests with.
  • Book Dumb: Self-admitted during a talk stream to not be very bright in many traditional subjects, notably in math, kanji-reading and English. That being said, he's acknowledged to have a good gaming sense and often picks up very quickly on mechanics or puzzles.
    • He surprised both Temma and Arurandeisu when he demonstrated quick critical thinking in figuring out how light refraction works, although he did play it off as Arurandeisu being a good teacher instead.
    • This gets discussed during a talk stream, where he confirms that these academic weaknesses are a part of him, and not something he does as part of his idol personanote . In fact, it bothers him when people believe otherwise about this.
  • Childish Older Sibling: Downplayed regarding to his relationship with his two younger brothers, noting that he doesn't really act like an older brother to them.
    • Of particular note, his youngest brother (known affectionately as Otosaki) has willingly drawn art for his music videos and birthday goods, played with him to help Miyabi improve at Super Smash Bros., and even played two hours of Ring Fit Adventure in Miyabi's stead to get his file up to the same point as his studio file. During Miyabi's RFA stream to celebrate 70k subscribers, he came to Miyabi's rescue when asked, doing the squats section of the boss fight for him when he himself was too exhausted to continue.
    • During a chat stream, Miyabi brings up the fact that he and Otosaki considered moving out together, but he eventually rejected that idea because he'd end up dependent on his younger brother's cooking (since he himself can't cook).
  • Comedic Sociopathy: Often combined with Dissonant Serenity when playing horror games.
Miyabi: (finding and stabbing a doll with scissors) Fou~nd you!
  • Color Motif: Red.
  • Cool Shades: Sports these in his summer variant, with the ability to put them on anytime he wants.
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: Played with. Miyabi has mentioned that he's the son of a café owner, and does know how to cook. That being said, he's held a couple of streams where his viewers suggest toppings/ingredients to put into his food. While his curry stream was relatively tame, one stream led to the creation of a 'seafood ramen parfait'. According to Miyabi, it was delicious.
  • Country Mouse: Similarly to Izuru, he lives quite far from the city in the countryside/forest and commiserates with Izuru on the big city being intimidating when he visits.
  • Covert Pervert: Although generally averted, his manner of speech makes it easy for him to thoughtlessly mention such things without notice, a trait he shares with Rikka. And he definitely has had his moments.
    • He once spent an entire stream gushing over the Holostars' summer outfits, such as Izuru's legs and Rikka's bare chest.
    • His comments during one of his Minecraft streams implies that he might have a thing for legs. This is supported in another stream where he decides on new outfits for Kyomu Suzume - spending some of the time focusing on the legs of each outfit.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Although considered a very calm person, some of the things he says and does often veers into this; for example when discussing the residents of his forest, bringing canned oranges as a topping for Aruran's birthday pizza, or mistaking baby powder for masking tape in his playthrough of Mother Simulator.
  • Dissonant Serenity: Noted to deal quite well with horror games. Even in situations where he's scared, he generally recovers so quickly it can cause viewers whiplash.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Comparing him with the other Holostars, it can be sometimes easy to mistake Miyabi for a girl, as some new viewers do from time to time.
    • Lampshaded during a collab talk with Rikka, Izuru, Roberu and the 3rd gens when discussing Miyabi's new year attire, which brings this trait up a notch.
    • During a drawing stream to reimagine some of the Holostars as girls, HololiveID's Iofi noted that Miyabi's appearence barely changed when drawn as female in fanart.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Played for laughs. Even if he's the 'daisenpai' of Holostars, it doesn't grant him immunity from being picked on by the others, be it in collabs or being mentioned in passing.
  • Fairytale Motif: Shares this with Temma for their 100k outfits, with his based on the Little Red Riding Hood.
  • Fanboy:
    • He's a big fan of Final Fantasy XIV, having talked about it multiple times during streams. During his debut stream, he spoke so passionately about the game that Izuru had to remind him in the live chat to not only talk about FF14. His first few streams were also of him playing FF14, and while they were initially privated, they were eventually made public again in 2021.
      • He, along with Shien, did a watchalong of the FF14's update livestream.
      • Upon Cover's annoucement of obtaining the rights to stream games from Square Enix, including his beloved FF14, Miyabi tweeted that 'FF14 is my life', which also became his stream name when he started streaming it again.
    • He's also a fan of Call of Duty, having also played it during his early streaming days. Needless to say, he was very pleased to be chosen to promote the mobile version of the game, even listing his favorite COD games in the description.
  • Flower Motifs: As described in his official description, peach blossoms are his main motif but he's also heavily associated with cherry blossoms. note
  • Gender-Blender Name: His first name, Miyabi, is more commonly used as a girl's name.
  • Gratuitous English: Self-admitted to have very weak English skills, with him struggling to pronounce English words. He even once managed to mistranslate a congratulatory message sent to him as an extortion letter.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • Some of his talk streams can veer into more emotional territory. Although he understands that it's important to be cheerful in front of his audience, he admits that he actually enjoys such talks.
    • He admits during his second anniversary stream that he had a hard time as one of the first Holostars (in his case, the very first one), due to the harsh reception they received when they first debuted as an all-male group, noting that he felt like he was walking on eggshells even when deciding whether to respond to a fan's comment. It got to the point where it affected his health negatively, but the support from the other starting members, Yagoo and later Shinove pushed him forward to become the person he is today.
    • He has been wondering about the meaning of being an idol. Because the term is defined differently for everyone, he's currently trying to seek out his own answer and find his niche among the Holostars.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Eighteen in his case, but has claimed to be "forever eighteen" as in he aged normally, until he turned eighteen, then "he stopped aging."
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: During a superchat reading, Miyabi mentions that he likes feminine mannerisms, and has already worn women's clothing on occasion. According to him, he once tried on a maid outfit, which inspired him to try out hairpins.
  • Jack of All Trades: While he doesn't appear to specialize in any game genre, he's still able to fare well enough on nearly any game he plays. True to this aspect, he streams a variety of games.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: He (and his family) own six catsnote  Ironically, Miyabi himself is allergic to cats, but he's used to it - he just can't have them in his room.
  • Little Big Brother: A voice variation - When he does speak, it's evident that Otosaki has a much deeper voice than his older brother, Miyabi.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: His White Day and New Year's outfits show that his hair reaches to around his shoulders.
  • Mellow Fellow: Miyabi is often cheerful and calm, and rarely displays negative emotion even when playing high-tension games, though he does scare rather easily.
  • Only Sane Man: Averted. From his appearance and demeanor, one can be fooled into thinking that he's the most normal among the Holostars. It's true, if you ignore his forest of bizarre animals and his streams revolving them.
Astel: Miyabi-kun is the most out of his mind-have you not seen the inhabitants of his forest!? [...] It's darkness, pure darkness. DARKNESS!
  • Refuge in Audacity: His streams involving his Hanasaki forest occasionally veer into this, if the animals themselves weren't weird enough.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Though his hair is red, his gentle, kind behavior qualifies him as one.
  • Significant Birth Date: His birthday falls on Girls' Day (Hinamatsuri) which was traditionally known as the day of the peach festival. His birth flower is also the peach flower, matching his hair pin and motif.
  • Ship Tease: With Temma, known as 'Hanakishi' as a duo. Miyabi has mentioned that with Temma, he has 'overcome the distance between senpai and kouhai', and in one stream, said that among the Holostars, he would choose to date him (after considering Astel and dismissing him due to his 'playboy' tendencies).
  • Situational Sociability: His calm demeanor tends to mask the fact that he's actually a fairly shy person. He's admitted he's not one who generally invites other people and has trouble messaging others, even other Holostars, such as Temma or Shien, who are the two he's closest to, out of a fear of being bothersome. However, once he actually starts participating, he tends to be more comfortable socializing.
  • Skewed Priorities: His playthrough of Mother Simulator has a significant amount of time dedicated to just Miyabi trying to improve his score at the diaper-throwing minigame.
  • Terrible Artist: Miyabi's drawings of the animals of Hanasaki Forest can be described as 'very creepy', and leaves much to be desired. That being said, an acrylic keychain and t-shirt of his drawings are actually available for purchase in Japan as merchandise.
  • The Ageless: Has joked that he is 'eternally' eighteen years old.
    • He briefly discusses this during a marshmallow-reading stream. He admits that he doesn't like the idea of aging - that once you hit your 40s or so, people often have the realization that staying at a specific age is better.
  • Token Wholesome: Enforced by the other Holostars moreso than by himself.
    • When he once replied "Ohaeroga!" back to Oga's tweet, Oga's response was to tell him not to say "ero."
    • In the same stream where he was thirsting over the other Holostars' summer costumes, Astel and Izuru's response to Miyabi expressing a desire to also be "sexy" was that he was not allowed to strip.

    Kanade Izuru

Kanade Izuru [JP: 奏手イヅル; CN: 奏手一弦]

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/izuwu.png

"He tries to keep his living expenses low. He doesn't really have much to do so he does house chores as a hobby. He is a little weird but a good guy at heart. Even though he acts cool, he never forgets to thank people. He loves to sing and take care of his guitar.

Debut date: June 22nd, 2019
Birthday: August 12th
Age (at debut): 17
Height: 163 cm
Fanbase Name: None
Illustrator: TCB
Channel: Youtube
Social Media: Twitter

  • The Ace: While not as flashy as Astel, Izuru is a very solid Apex Legends player who often compliments Astel's gaming style, often being relied on to turn things around if Astel falls.
  • Animal Motifs: Cats. His hood has cat ears, and the pupils of his eyes seem to resemble slit cat eyes. Notably, his nickname in Chinese is '猫猫' (Maomao), an affectionate way to address a cat.
    • Similar to a cat, he also admits to liking cramped spaces, and once mentioned being jealous of Harry Potter for being able to live in the storage room under the stairs.
    • Fittingly, he likes all cats regardless of breed (particularly black cats), and expressed envy at his artist (TCP) being able to take care of one.
    • His membership badges consist of different cats.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: He debuted at 17 years old, and he's currently the youngest of the Holostars at 20 (if you dismiss Miyabi's claims of being eternally 18).
  • Color Motif: Dark blue.
  • Country Mouse: According to Izuru, he was born in Tsushima, though he does not live there anymore. Despite this, he admits that he enjoys being near nature, taking walks by the beach and going fishing as a hobby, to the point that during a consultation stream, he encouraged a viewer to do so as his solution.
Izuru: This. Is. An. Order. Go fishing, okay? Go fishing - only go fishing. You love fishing, so go fishing! And take picture.
    • He once mentioned that after he stops being a Vtuber, he wants to become a farmer in the countryside, and part of his dreams includes buying a house there.
    • When he does visit the city, it's noted that he's not really accustomed to things there. Miyabi has mentioned that Izuru once told him that he found the city 'scary', and he once admitted that he had trouble flagging down a taxi because he wasn't sure how to.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He dislikes coffee, but enjoys coffee jelly.
  • Epic Rocking: His first original song "Monologue in a Row" clocks at 7:09.
  • Extreme Omnivore: He's eaten expired food, drank spoilt milk while eating spicy noodles, as well as consumed bugs on-stream (it's noted that he actually enjoys eating them.)
    • In general, Izuru isn't particularly picky when it comes to food, as long as 'it's food and goes in your mouth, anything goes'. Ironically enough, he's actually one of the few Holostars who cooks regularly.
    • Played for laughs during a collab stream with Suntempo and Shien, which pitted AsuIzu against Babudon. When asked to list down Izuru's favorite foods, Astel listed miso soup, along with:
Astel: Since he's pretty much a feral child, second place goes to weeds. And his favorite food is obviously the rhino beetle.
    Izuru: YOU DIMWIT!note
  • Flower Motif: Although not often shown, he is associated with black lilies, a fact that he mentions in his first stream. His regular attire has them printed on his jacket and he was pleasantly surprised to find that his New Year's attire also incorporated them to his clothing.
  • Gratuitous English: He has a relatively strong grasp of English compared to the rest of the Holostars, though he admits that he's still not very good. He's still capable of reading some of his English comments and responding in turn - though this may be justified due to likely still actively learning English in university.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • Despite Izuru's younger age, he's quite insightful and mature, as once noted by Roberu, who considered him as a potential 'big brother' among the Holostars (before also calling him a 'shitty brat').
    • Miyabi himself considers him more like a mother, mentioning that Izuru tends to spoil him sometimes. He also notes that Izuru seems to enjoy emotional talks, just like him.
    • He can be quite blunt and straight-forward when it comes to setting his boundaries, and once called out a viewer who sent him a rude marshmallow about their entitled behavior.
    • He understands some Chinese, having studied it in the past. He once held a stream showing his progress and also did a live cover of 'Those Bygone Years' by Huxia.
    • A Twitcast shortly after his 3D debut reveals that he's somewhat indifferent towards streaming when compared to his passion for music. Despite this, he got emotional and close to crying once the stream started and when he saw the comments during the stream, cementing his deep appreciate for his fans and Holostars.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: According to Izuru, he likes cross-dressing, having done so before on multiple occasions. During a marshmallow reading stream, when asked on how to overcome shyness to do so, he answered that although it can be embarassing the first time, the important thing is the feeling of wanting to do it at least once. He notes that despite having some opposition from his family, he wasn't bothered by him and continued this hobby.
  • Leg Focus: A rare male example of this trope - his regular, 100k-sub and summer variant outfits reveals a lot of his legs, to the point that it was noticed and commented on by some of the other members.
  • The Night Owl: A more implied example. While he doesn't do it as much on his own, he often accompanies Astel during the latter's long Apex endurance streams, which can stretch for a good period of time. Played straight during his grind with Astel and Meika to reach Master rank - where his streams went up to 11 hours.
  • No Name Given: Notably, Izuru lacks a fanbase name for his viewers, and does not plan on giving them onenote . Although some of them have taken to calling themselves 'nothing gang', much to Izuru's annoyance when trying to explain this in English during a talk stream.
Izuru: 'None' is not your name. 'None' is concept, okay? [...] 'None' is not fan name, okay?
    • This carries over with the release of his membership, where it is simply named 'Izuru's Membership'.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Unlike the other members, his avatar usually has a neutral expression. With his 2.0 update, he's become more smiley, averting this trope.
  • Singer-Songwriter: Like Rikka, he often hosts singing streams while playing his guitar, and he writes a lot of songs (about 50 according to him), with a few of them being available as prototypes in his 2nd anniversary EP.
  • Street Musician: He spends the last parts of his 3D debut singing and playing guitar on the street outside of Holostars’ office.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Although he's usually on the quieter side, his volume can sharply increase without warning, notably during Apex matches (often with Astel and/or Kira) and during the Among Us collabs.
  • Trash of the Titans: If this is to be believed, this is Izuru's entry during the Dirty Room Championship (hosted by Roberu and himself).
  • The Unintelligible: Izuru once hosted a stream while doing his homework. Due to being unable to tell his viewers what his homework was about, he just started mumbling instead.
  • Vocal Dissonance: He has a generally boyish design and raspy voice that undoubtedly belongs to a man, but if he wants to he can sound exactly like a schoolgirl. Watch and judge for yourself.

    Arurandeisu

Arurandeisu [JP: アルランディス; CN: 阿尔兰蒂斯]

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ed52b5f4_32bf_408f_8031_f64d3f06151c.jpeg
Ciao!

"He is a detective, cat burglar, teacher, samurai, sniper, and demon hunter. A mysterious Italian who has traveled far and wide through different worlds... He currently devotes his days to this world after being entrusted with the dream of becoming an idol. While he claims to be a man of brains, he often relies on his brawn in the end. He likes pizza, meat, and cola."

Debut date: September 8th, 2019
Birthday: November 11th
Age (at debut): 37 (Aru-papa), 27 (Arunii)
Height: 186 cm
Fanbase name: Familiaran
Illustrator: lack
Channel: Youtube
Social Media: Twitter

  • Age Lift: Another World Arurandeisu is around a decade younger than his prime equivalent, with his age estimated to be in his twenties(?). However, he maintains that he still shares the same memories as his older self.
  • Affectionate Nickname: His name is often shortened to Aruran or Aru-san. His viewers have also taken to calling him Arupapa or just 'Papa', which he encourages.
    • According to Rikka, Aruran had wanted to be known as Aran, but possibly due to Rikka's nickname calling him Arusan, everyone ended up using that or Aruran to address him.
    • With Another World Arurandeisu's debut, he's replaced Arupapa with Arunii or Arukun.
  • ASMR Video: He once did airsoft gun assembly ASMR.
  • Big Eater: Subverted. According to Miyabi, Aruran doesn't usually eat that much, noting that when he, Aruran, Rikka and Temma went out to eat, Miyabi ended up eating more than him. That being said, he can pack away quite a bit of food when he wants to. Notably for his combined 60/70k subscribers celebration, he decided to eat 42 slices of pizza on stream, which took him about 6 hours to finish.note
  • Big Little Brother: He shares the same illustrator as Hololive's Shiranui Flare. With his height of 186cm over Flare's 158cm, he's this to her.
  • Broken Pedestal: Played for Laughs during a Kira-Kira Family collab, where he was pressured into doing an Ollie impersonation and to change his name to "Kureiji Oji" (Crazy Old-man). Afterwards, Oga jokingly told "Kureiji Oji" how he used to respect "one of his senpais, Arurandeisu" a lot until now, much to Aruran's annoyance.
  • But Not Too Foreign: According to his profile, he's Italian, but has all the mannerisms akin to a typical Japanese person.
  • But Now I Must Go: StarColle's 40th episode had the original Aruran leave for a journey, leaving behind his spot for his younger self to join.
  • Butt-Monkey: Among the Holostars, he tends to be on the receiving end of this on many occasions, to the point it becomes something of a meme in the community and tradition for other members to bully him whenever they collab.
    • During the Holostars' Christmas off-collabnote , Aruran finished last in all of his matches by a considerable margin - to the point that he was the only one unable to declare 'last card' at all.
    • In addition, a majority of those who used his Switch for the match ended up losing or ending up dead last in their own matches, leading to the others joking that Aruran's Switch was cursed, with him remarking afterwards that he'll take it to an exorcist.
    • He isn’t even safe in his own 3D debut, with Oga and Shien showing up from his couch just to beat him up with sticks and make him stand on a mat used for feet massage (which is quite painful) while advertising Holostars’ merch as a punishment.
    • In the 3D shorts on his (and sometimes other members’) YouTube channel, he’s always the butt of the jokes, from being hit by Temma riding his house-bike at high speed to falling face first into the ground as Rikka failed to Bridal Carry him.
    • Discussed by Temma during a marshmallow-reading stream during his 2nd debut anniversary. Although he doesn't think he's stressing the other members of Yurustars out, he occasionaly worries about whether their antics towards Aruran could be too much for his mental health, and told Aruran during their sleepover to let him know if it ever became too much. On Aruran's end, he reassured Temma that it wasn't the case at all.
  • Clark Kent Outfit: Downplayed as most of his outfits fail to hide his muscular biceps and broad physique, but absolutely no soul was prepared to witness 8-pack Aruran.
  • Color Motif: Dark green and (to a lesser extent) red, fitting for an Italian.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When asked on how to get rid of one's indecisiveness, he answers that it isn't a bad thing - only to launch into a review on a fictional study on the matter. Lampshaded by the video captions, which note that by that point, 'he's just saying whatever now', cutting him off before he finishes.
  • Consummate Liar: When playing Among Us, he's probably tied with Temma for being the most efficient imposter of Holostars by manipulating his friends with a straight face.
  • Cool Old Guy: The original Aruran. Apart from his significant older appearance, he's also the oldest among the Holostars at 37 years old note  (if you dismiss Oga's additional 5000 years). His foreign fans tend to address him as 'Arupapa' as a result.
  • Cool Teacher:
    • Every now and then, Aruran hosts 'lecture streams' for his viewers.
    • In November 2020, he started hosting lectures to teach his overseas viewers Japanese slang.
    • In December 2023, he hosted a stream where he would teach the mathematically-challenged Hiodoshi Ao before she would solve a quadratic equation with the promise that they would not end until she did so properly.
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef:
  • Determinator:
    • After being invited to enter Shibuya Hal's Vtuber Apex tournament, Aruran started partaking in daily training, not only with the others but on his own time as well. This is notable as prior to this, Aruran was only ranked Bronze, and by that point wasn't an active player - by the end of the tournament, he was able to face off against Diamond-ranked (and occasionally Predator) players, and provided valuable support for Izuru and Astel as Bloodhound. Better yet: this all took place within just one month.
    • Shortly after the final match, Aruran notes that he really wanted to work hard in order not to bring Astel and Izuru down as the weakest player, leading to a heartwarming moment among the three as they thank each other for their hard work, with Astel admitting that he had already wanted Aruran with them from the start.
    • After the release of axolotls during the 1.17 Minecraft update, Aruran dedicated more than 21 streams daily in his quest to breed a blue axolotl, which has a spawn rate of less than 1%. After over 90 hours of breeding over the span of a month, he finally obtained one after 4,662 attemptsnote .
  • Dimensional Traveller: Another World Arurandeisu revealed in his debut that he's something of a dimension-hopper, travelling many alternate worlds and living many different lives before settling down in our world and becoming an idol for Holostars.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He dislikes raw tomatoes. Despite this, he decided to celebrate reaching 100,000 subscribers by eating 10 raw tomatoes.
  • Fanservice Pack: While Arupapa was already pretty buff, only one outfit (his swimsuit/lifeguard outfit) really showed his muscles off. Arunii is noticeably more toned in comparison, helped by his new default outfit consisting of a loose jacket and tank top that put his pecs and arms on full display.
  • Gratuitous English:
    • Aruran has picked up a considerable amount of English from his viewers, hosting cultural exchange streams specifically for his international fans to teach him their culture and/or English internet slang. In return, he occasionally teaches his viewers Japanese culture and slang.
    • Despite difficulty recalling words at times, he has a good grasp of basic sentence structure, and he knows enough vocabulary to communicate any idea in English, even if he has to occasionally do so in roundabout ways.
    • Played for Laughs during his Phasmophobia collab with Oga, Risu and Iofi, where after using his newfound English skills to communicate to a ghost, Oga noted that all ghost activity dropped during the process.
Aruran: Nice to meet you! [...] Hey! Are you winning dad? Hey! My name is Arurandeisu!
  • The Gunslinger: To the surprise of everyone, he reveals that he has two revolvers in his 3D debut and then proceeds to shoot some targets. It’s all fun and games, until the shots get a little improbable and he gets accused of using aimbot.
  • Hand Behind Head: A common pose for him in official art. During the gesture game in Shien's 3D debut, this is the pose Roberu assumes in order to get Aruran (and Rikka) to guess themselves (as the keyword).
  • Hidden Depths: His Up-Station interview reveals that when he was young, he had dreamed of being a 'hero' due to being a big fan of Kamen Rider. For him, this meant being able to make the people around him happy so that there's less sadness around them, something that he felt like he could achieve as part of Holostars.
Aruran: I’ve been living my life doing what I love, so that’s how I ended up doing live-streaming, which happens to give a lot of people happiness. That kind of win-win like relationship is what makes it good. Live-streaming is truly the best!
  • Muscles Are Meaningful: As mentioned in Clark Kent Outfit and Walking Shirtless Scene, Aruran’s model is pretty toned, and he’s equally fit in real life despite commonly playing the role of the Butt-Monkey. He has the leading score in Lobstars 3D fitness collab, easily takes on Izuru in a Tug-of-War game with only one arm, and nonchalantly chats with his viewers in Ring Fit Adventure streams with little signs of exhaustion.
  • Only One Name: Aruran is only known by Arurandeisu, and lacks a family name.
  • Press-Ganged: By his own account, he was kidnapped from Italy by Shinove and brought to Japan, where he's forcefully inducted into Holostars as a Vtuber.
  • Serious Business: His determination to breed a blue axolotl in Minecraft is slowly becoming this, having dedicated over 8 streams so far just trying to do so, even creating a lab and a fish spawn tower to make the process easier. It may or may not have taken a toll on his sanity.
  • So Unfunny, It's Funny: Aruran once hosted a stream titled as "JP/EN Dadjoke Exchange!", where he encouraged his viewers to share as many dad jokes with him as possible.
  • Team Dad: Both his appearance and his personality highlight him as this. He has been acknowledged by the other members as a stable rock amongst the group members, being both a reliable and easygoing guy.
    • According to Temma, his first impression of Aruran was someone he can depend on whenever he has any troubles.
    • Notably, Astel once called him on Discord at 2am while playing House on the Hill, wanting company due to being terrified. While Aruran missed the initial call, he not only called Astel back, but willingly accompanied him for the remainder of the stream, which ended at 4am.
    • He becomes this during VRGTA 2, where he runs a pizzaria alongside several other vtubers, which affectionately becomes a family.
  • Troll: His original character profile depicts him as a prankster of sorts, and true to that, some of Aruran's antics can really throw people in for a loop.
    • During Rikka's 3D debut, he sends his congratulations by effectively recreating a bootleg version of the congratulations scene from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
    • During his birthday stream in 2020, he gives a heartfelt thank you message to his viewers before his avatar slowly fades away for several minutes, to everyone's panic (before reappearing while laughing at the comments).
    • His New Year attire stream reveals that it's...a shishimai, hyping it up before eventually showing his actual attire. It doesn't stop him from using the shishimai as his Live2D avatar though.
    • He, along with Astel, hijacked Miyabi and Temma's Discord call during their playthrough of Plasmaphobia in order to prank them.note
  • Terrible Artist: Although not on the same level as Roberu, some of his thumbnails and waiting screen are quite the sight to behold.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Pizza, particularly Margherita. He's also receptive towards pineapple on pizza.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Halfway into his fourth outfit reveal, he showed that his shirt is removable... and that he has an 8 pack. As if that was not enough, 3 minutes later, he tossed his hoodie out as well, leaving his upper body completely bare. The one where he is shirtless with only hoodie on is used as the official standee.
  • The Workaholic: In 2022, it seems that Aruran is intent on taking the 'Streaming Monster' title from Roberu, with him streaming nearly every day (or for majority of the week). Even when his throat took a hit, he still found ways to stream without having to speak.

Rikka [JP: 律可; CN: 律可]

Halloroid!

"He is a high-spec robot called a Holoroid, but that claim came into question after discovering that his memory is only worth 2GB, and is now considered more of an airhead. The gap between his normally soft-speaking voice and how he sings is his charm. He is currently striving to spread songs throughout the world."

Debut date: October 20th, 2019
Birthday: April 15th
Age (at debut): Half a year
Height: 179 cm
Fanbase name: Tuner
Illustrator: Fuyuomi
Channel: Youtube
Social Media: Twitter

  • Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: Occasionally while trying to speak English, this ends up happening to not only his English, but his Japanese as well.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Matsuri calls him Ricchan, while some of the Holostars address him as Rikkun.
  • The Alcoholic: Implied and discussed during a talk stream on Izuru's channel. As far as they know, Rikka has the highest tolerance for alcohol among the members, with him mentioning that he can down a bottle of sake on his own. Izuru thinks that this is a very uncute trait of Rikka's, and a radio stream with Aruran reveals that he likes the smell of sake.
    • In December 2020, Kurand (a Japanese alcohol company) released Holostar-themed liquor bottles, with Roberu, Rikka and Aruran tasting the drinks on site to decide what flavors to use. According to Roberu's account, while he himself drank moderately, Aruran got drunk and Rikka drank everything straight from the bottle.
    • Fittingly, his alcohol set is noted to have the highest amount of alcohol content (17%) compared to the other two (Roberu at 15.5% and Aruran at 13%).
  • Bad Liar: His Among Us streams reveals that he's not that great at deception, although he's notably the member who plays the game the most.
  • Color Motif: Light pink - smoky pink, to be exact.
  • Cool Mask: Dons a kitsune mask in his summer variant outfit.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Although his official bio describes him as an airhead, he denies this. That being said, Rikka reportedly only has 2GB worth of memory, which explains his occasional forgetfulness and spacy-ness.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He doesn't like wasabi and chili (or spicy things in general), though he clarifies that it's less because he dislikes them, but that consuming them would lead to him breaking down.
  • Don't Call Me "Sir": During his introduction stream, he mentions that he dislikes being addressed as '-san' (with only Miyabi being the sole exception), due to him wanting to be closer to everyone as friends.
Rikka: (during his debut stream) I'm just half a year old, so...I'd rather be called '-kun' more...
  • Engrish: Despite Rikka being able to read some English words, it's also apparent that he doesn't necessarily understand what they mean. With some of his streams focusing on learning English via Reddit, however, he seems to be improving.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: His default outfit includes a long jacket that covers his body save for his upper left side.
  • Gender Bender: His April Fools' joke of choice is this, posing as Ritsuko of the Holostars Girls' Division.
  • Hidden Character: Rikka debuted as a 'secret' member as the final member of Gen 1. Dubbed as 'Secret-san', his identity remained a mystery up until 3 days before his actual debut.
  • Hidden Depths: Despite claiming to be bad at videogames, Rikka has shown to be incredibly skilled in platform games. He completed Cuphead within 8 hours in a single stream, and in his playthrough of Hollow Knight, managed to defeat Soul Tyrant (regarded as one of the hardest bosses in the game) in just 3 rounds.
    • One of his favorite type of games are those where the player is likely to die frequently (such as the games above) because he's able to play them alone. During a guest appearance at Roberu and Ono's radio show, Roberu notes this to be one of Rikka's 'weirder' traits.
    • Like the other members, Rikka cares deeply about Holostars, with him mentioning that one of his original songs, Archive, was written with the graduated members in mind.
  • Idiot Hair: Has one sticking out of his head, which can also move in both his Live2D and 3D models.
  • Idol Singer: While he leans more towards being a Singer-Songwriter, he's arguably still the strongest contender for this role in Holostars, with his first single 're: Hello, world' releasing on Spotify. His New Year resolutions also consist of wanting to host more lives and to release more songs.
    • He has participated in a few 3D lives, such a piano live with Matsuri and TUBEOUT with Azki. For his first anniversary, he hosted his own solo live.
    • During his 100k celebration live, he revealed two new original songs, Spiral Tones (together with HoloEn's Calliope Mori) and Archive.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: He owns a cat (Span-nyan) and a dog (Span-wan), with the latter being heard during the IDStars MarioKart collabnote .
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Eh, new physical upgrades. The staffs in charge of stars*collection seems to really have fun with Rikka’s robotic nature, seeing how he has turned into a motorcycle, was given a detachable head, a pendant that serves as a secondary voice box and can shoot laser beams (which transformed Shien’s head into that of a horse), and an artificial stomach that can turn into a fridge.
  • The Nicknamer: Has nicknames for each of the Holostars members (and Shinove, who he calls Shii-chan). Initially, he lacked any nicknames for Shien due to it already being easy to address him, but he eventually picks up the nickname 'Shiepi' for him.
    • Miyabi: Miyabin
    • Izuru: Izu-Izu
    • Kira: Kiracchi
    • Arurandeisu: Aru-san
    • Suzaku: Suu-san
    • Astel: Ru-tan
    • Temma: Ten-chan
    • Roberu: Roberun
    • Kaoru: Kaochi
    • Shien: Shiepi
    • Oga: O-chan
    • Fuma: Togamin
    • Uyu: Uyuyu
    • Gamma: Zakki
    • Rio: Riocchi
  • Not a Morning Person: Rikka has trouble waking up in the morning. When gifted a light-sensitive alarm clock from Izuru, he comments that he just might be able to start hosting morning streams with it.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: "Rikkaroid" is his actual name, as befitting of his robotic background. It's shortened to "Rikka" in most circumstances, however.
  • Only One Name: Like Aruran, Rikka lacks a last name.
  • Only Sane Man: After Astel's discussion regarding the most 'normal' member of Holostars, he's tentatively this to most fans, due to not (blatantly) exhibiting any weird behavior. That being said, considering his competition, the bar was already on the ground.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: With Matsuri, sharing a sibling-like bond. As 'Matsurikka', they have covered several songs together, as well as collabing with one another on occasion.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: Rikka is a holoroid, an android created for Holostars. If not for his bio mentioning this, you probably wouldn't have realized he isn't human.
  • Scannable Man: His casual attire reveals that his usual choker hides a barcode on the side his neck. Justified as he's an android robot, after all.
  • Signature Instrument: The guitar he carries around was a gift to him by Yagoo, and is always present during his singing streams. This is averted for his New Year attire, where he instead uses a modified shamisen (that produces acoustic sounds). That being said, it only made a physical appearance in 3D for the first time in 2022 (even having it be its debut stream) - before this Rikka would effectively play air guitar if he needed to use his guitar.
  • Singer-Songwriter: On top of being an amazing singer, Rikka is also a talented composer who wrote his own original songs and made a character song composition in the anime Cute Executive Officer. In his second anniversary, he even improvises 2 short yet incredible songs from the random words in the chat at the request of Aruran and Roberu.
  • Singing Voice Dissonance: Downplayed. He usually speaks in a soft-spoken, gentle tone, but his singing voice is considered to be quite powerful and versatile, being able to hit falsetto notes when needed.
  • The Straight Man: Subverted. Despite his typical demeanor, you'd expect him to play this for the other Holostars. The truth is that he ends up blending with the rest and can be just as big of a 'kusogaki'note  as them. Instead, it's Roberu (who's ironically regarded as one of the weirdest members overall) who ends up playing this role.
  • Sweet Tooth: His favorite food is almond chocolate, though he just likes chocolate in general.
    • On his birthday, he was delighted to receive a bottle of Godiva's chocolate liquor from a fan, mentioning that it was one of his 'dream gifts'.
    • During a 12-hour stream, Rikka comments while making breakfast that he occasionally puts chocolate on his eggs.
    • Once, during a superchat reading session, he muses that he'll make good use of the money for improving his stream and music videos, and definitely not on a 10-year supply of chocolate.
    • His updated White Day attire also comes with a half-eaten bar of chocolate tucked away in his shirt's breast pocket.
  • Younger Than They Look: Justified due to him being a robot, Rikka debuted at half a year old, and is currently a little over a year old despite looking like a young adult.

Otsukira.

"A competitive crossdresser that loves to draw attention and wishes to become an idol. He has been good at gaming since childhood. PvP is his specialty."

Debut date: June 9th, 2019
Retirement: November 30th, 2020
Birthday: October 26th
Age (at debut): Secret
Height: 156 cm
Fanbase name: Kirarian
Illustrator: Nozaki Tsubata
Channel: YouTube
Social media: Twitter

  • Alliterative Name: Kagami Kira.
  • Brutal Honesty: According to Astel, this was how Kira gave his criticism regard Chibistars' performance in Apex. He would be be upfront about what they did wrong, and the other two doing the same in turn. As such, this was the method that he later employed with Aruran during training.
  • Color Motif: Light blue/turquoise - While his color is actually turquoise, there was no heart emote that matched his color, thus he used a light blue variant instead.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Turquoise hair and eyes.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The giving end of Shien and the Chibistars' collab stream of Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. He dominated the entire game (finishing at the 18-minute mark) when the rest struggled to reach halfway, even lapping several of them.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: He once conducted a cucumber-eating ASMR stream.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Being a professional cross-dresser, this is intentional. His voice is also more high-pitched and more feminine than the other Holostars as well. At least, most of the time.
  • Effeminate Voice: He usually talks in a much higher pitch compared to his fellow Holostars, and fittingly he’s a Wholesome Crossdresser. Though he is not limited to this range.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: His attire for his White Day costume. His planned New Year's attire also had shades of this, though it was never implemented due to Kira's retirement.
  • Kimono Fanservice: Dons a woman's yukata for his summer attire in 2020.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Despite his cute appearance, Kira's conversation topics veered into perverted territory the most among the Holostars. During his first stream, he went on the offensive on such topics despite knowing that Yagoo was likely watching the stream. He decided to apologise about it in another stream... only to disregard it entirely just four minutes in.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: When it comes to survival horror, he seems never (or barely) get killed at all (the only exception being Outlast).
    • During his Pien stream, Kira manages to avoid getting killed from the titular killer with split second reflexes.
    • During both Among Us Holostars collabs, Kira was rarely targeted by Imposters.
  • Only Sane Man: Tends to be this during streams involving Izuru and Astel as Chibistars, having to deal with their theatrics whether during Apex or trying to move some furniture in Moving Out.
  • Token Mini-Moe:
    • While not as drastic as his Hololive counterpart, he was the shortest member of the Holostars group at 156cm (without heels).
    • This can also apply with his unit, Chibistars (alongside with Izuru and Astel), where all of them are currently the shortest Holostars members.
  • Troll: Has done this at least twice to two other Holostar members (namely, Temma and Roberu), particularly during Temma's Mario Kart 8 Deluxe stream.
  • Vague Age: The only other Holostar to not reveal his age, labeling it as "secret" (Suzaku also covered up his age in the same manner by blotting it out). However, his familiarity with things such as videotapes has given his fans some suspicions about his actual age.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Although his voice is typically high-pitched, his voice can get incredibly deep when he wants to, such as during a superchat-reading session, where his voice dropped by several octaves to the point where it has been described as being similar to Yoshikage Kira.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: Kira's main schtick. His default outfit is a midriff-baring sailor outfit with thigh-high boots and a coat, and he wears a women's yukata as his summer outfit.

    Yakushiji Suzaku

Yakushiji Suzaku [JP: 薬師寺朱雀]

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hngbgpfa.bmp

"Raised by his grandmother since his childhood, he prefers the Japanese style of things. He wears a kimono that has been passed down in the Yakushiji family for generations and carries a sword as a good luck charm at all times. He is basically sketchy. He is a lonely person, but he is not good at crowded places. He is the type of person who is totally absorbed in games."
—Suzaku's official description (translated from Japanese)

Debut date: September 7th, 2019
Retirement: March 6th, 2020
Birthday: March 24th
Age (at debut): Secret
Height: 180 cm
Fanbase Name: Yakuna
Illustrator: Fuji Mitsuya

  • The Ace: According to Astel, FPS games were Suzaku's specialty, particularly in Apex and PUBG, having clocked in over 2500 hours in the latter.
  • Childhood Friends: Apparently was this to Kira, who he grew up together with.
  • Color Motif: Dark red.
  • Comedic Sociopathy: During a talk stream, Suzaku expresses a desire to own an uninhabited island, which leads to this realization:
Suzaku: (reading the definition of an uninhabited island) So that means if I get rid of everyone in Japan, it'll become uninhabited...
  • Cool Sword: Shuchoumaru, his sword that he carries around, which he mentions to be a good luck charm in his family.
    • According to him, the sword is usually padlocked, and only those who are deemed worthy in the Yakushiji family are permitted to wield it.
    • His ideal partner, according to him, should also be able to use a sword, among other qualities.
  • Determinator: One of his earlier game streams has him play 'eBaseball Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2020', but on Crown Nine mode.note  He ended up spending several hours just trying to scout for high-quality players to clear the game.
  • Does Not Like Spam: His least liked food is listed as mentaikonote .
  • Good Luck Charm: He carries around an omamori for his family's protection.
  • Kimono Is Traditional: He wears a kimono over his clothes that has been passed down in his family
  • Large Ham: From clips, he seems to rival Shien in this aspect.
    • Whining about how he wants to own an island.
    • His attempt at intimidating Choco, Miyabi and Fubuki during their Dead by Daylight collab, only for it to backfire completely.
    • His agonized decision-making when questioned on who he would pick in Holostars as a partner (complete with echo) before unceremoniously choosing Yagoo.
  • The Gadfly: Appeared to be this, particularly during his Dead by Daylight collab by introducing himself in a falsetto voice (which was subsequently copied by Temma and Miyabi).
  • Raised by Grandparents: According to his bio, he was raised by his grandmother.
  • Vague Age: During his debut stream, he blotted out his age, listing it as a 'secret' like Kira.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Suzaku retired about seven months after his debut, before Holostars started picking up in popularity. Upon Kaoru's own retirement, his channel removed all of his archives, making it difficult for new fans to even learn about him, withonly two clips of him on YouTube existing, although searching his tags can still net some results on Twitter and BilliBilli.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Averted. Despite looking a little intimidating (due to the sword), Suzaku was a cheerful, playful man who enjoyed messing with people.
