  • Cast Herd: Particularly with the second and third generations, who usually debut within the same month. However, this also applies to the first generation, albeit in three 'waves' - Miyabi, Kira and Izuru were the first to debut, followed by Aruran, Suzaku and later Rikka afterwards.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Each member has a color associated with them, though there can be some minor overlaps, such as Oga and Aruran both having green motifs (though Oga's is a more saturated shade). The official penlight for their first live provides a little more detail on their allocated colors.
  • Cosmic Motifs: True to their name, Holostars, they are associated with stars. Their original group songs always find a way to sneak stars in its title and lyrics, from the more subtle Pentas Explanation  to the pretty straight-up Just Follow Stars and Journey to Find Stars.
  • The Friends Who Never Hang: Downplayed and subverted. Most of the more common collab groups are cross-generational, such as Yurustarsnote , AsuIzunote  and Babudon note  rather than within generations.
    • This is noted by Suntempo, who acknowledge that although they're close friends as a group, due to their differing schedules, they can find it hard to find a time to collab. Temma even titled their last chatting stream as 'An April Fools' Miracle'.
    • MaFia is also met with this problem, with their latest collab stream in 2022 being 9 months apart from their last one in 2021. Despite hanging out and chatting with each other regularly offline, their conflicting schedules, different interests and the fact that Oga can’t play most 3D games (motion sickness) hindered their ability to arrange a collab.
  • Spear Counterpart: The all-male counterpart to Hololive's all-female idol group.
  • True Companions: Holostars has a smaller number of members as compared to their sister group, which has allowed them to be quite close to one another.
    • Miyabi himself has likened Holostars to be very much like a family to him, to the point that the senpai/kouhai system is non-existent towards one another. According to the second gen, they themselves don't have such attitudes towards the first gen. Shien and Oga, who debuted as the third gen, were effectively the first proper 'kouhais' they all received - and even then the distinction is faint at best.
    • Notably, Roberu, who is rather territorial regarding his home, mentions that while he still dislikes having people over for long periods of time, he'll make exceptions for his fellow Holostars.
    • As a result, it can be common for members to drop by streams now and then, and occasionally may join the member streaming when possible. Notably, when Monster Hunter: Rise was released, you could often expect guerilla collabs with several members crashing each others' streams and deciding to party up together.
    • Several members have noted that since the confirmation of their first live, they've started to meet up with each other more often due to joint practices, which has allowed them to get closer as a unit as well.
    • When asked what Holostars meant to them in Astel’s 3D debut, their answers all meant something along the line of friends and family. Except Aruran’s first answer, "pizza ingredients"note  - which is still counted considering the man’s Trademark Favorite Food is blatantly pizza.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: That being said, they get very chaotic during group collabs, and have no qualms about backstabbing or betraying one another. This is especially so with the second generation, SunTempo. Among the group, despite being close offline, they're probably the ones most likely to turn on one other in most situations.

Management

    Daidou Shinove

Daidou Shinove [JP: 大道シノヴ]

"While tough-looking, he is a serious man at heart. Occasionally he likes to make jokes, but due to people worrying about him, he often holds self-reflection meetings. Despite his appearence, he is a people person and has many interests - if you ask him about otaku culture, he'll talk to you about it. He likes to make things interesting, even if it will make him a laughing stock."

Birthday: January 13th
Age (on joining): 30
Retirement: 31 October 2022
Height: 180cm
Illustrator: ikuyoan
Social Media: Twitter
Holostars' general manager, who occasionally drops by during their streams to check in on (or make fun of) them. Although he no longer manages them directly, he's still well-respected and loved by the members of Holostars.

On October 24 2022, Shinove announced that after three years with Cover, he has decided to resign from his position by the end of the month.

  • The Alcoholic: Downplayed, but according to some of the Holostars, he apparently drinks quite a lot and supposedly has the highest alcohol tolerance. Fittingly, he was invited to Roberu's bar during his early streaming days.
  • Benevolent Boss: He genuinely cares for the Holostars, and is quite friendly and amicable with his interactions with them during streams and on Twitter. In turn, as much as they joke with him at times, the members are genuinely grateful for him as well.
    • Astel mentions that it's thanks to Shinove's efforts that he was able to achieve the visions he wanted for his 3D debut, despite initially being rejected by management during its planning stages. For that, Astel was extremely grateful, giving him his heartfelt thanks during the debut.
  • The Cameo: He makes a brief appearance in Holostar's Painter cover, represented as a pair of glasses.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He dislikes coriander, according to his own profile.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: On occasion, especially early on, he joined the Holostars in some of their group collabs, with him recently playing as a fourth player for the Holostars Game King off-collab. note
  • Lantern Jaw of Justice: Just look at it.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Averted. Unlike the other known managers from Holopro, Shinove was the only manager who had a proper given name until the introduction of trainee Harusaki Nodoka.
  • The Unseen: Although he makes his presence known on Twitter and streams, his own Youtube channel is empty since he uses it mostly to communicate with his talents.
  • Weirdness Magnet: From lore videos, Shinove encountered Astel after the latter crash-landed on a beach, and travelled to a strange dimension (and received a Curb-Stomp Battle) just to try and recruit Oga.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Despite his demeanor, his actual voice sounds quite youthful in comparison. Considering that his actual age is about 31, it's likely justified.
