    Princess Aisha
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aisha_9.jpg
I pledge to you my honor that the Empire will fully support Kanterbury in the battles against the Invaders.
JP redesign
Aisha is the 7th Princess of the Rah Empire, the most powerful rival to the Kanterbury Kingdom.
Rarity: 2-star
Species: Human
Age: 19
Height and weight: 159cm/43kg
Element: Light
Role: Support
Exclusive Weapon: Veritas
Voiced By: Sachika Misawa (Japanese), Laura Post (English)
Illustrator: Wonchun Choi (GL/KR), イコモチ (JP)

  • Affably Evil: Defied Trope. She gives the Kanterburian refugees in her empire's labor camp three good meals a day, prevents the officers from treating them badly, and cultivates a friendly atmosphere, but it's still ultimately a labor camp, leading her to a My God, What Have I Done? moment.
  • Anti-Villain: She starts out running the Kanterbury work camp as a way to enhance her position in line of succession and only limits the cruelties inflicted there to improve productivity. It isn't until she is forced to witness the full impact of the camps on the refugees that she realizes the atrocities she's enabled.
  • The Atoner: She sides with the Kanterburians and helps them overthrow their sadistic court overseers. She later promises to aid the Knight in the battle against the Invaders.
  • Benevolent Boss: She treats the people under her sternly, but fairly and will go out of her way to aid them if needed. In exchange, they tend to be extremely loyal to her.
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: She's the youngest of seven siblings, all of whom are looking to inherit rulership of the Rah Empire and are willing to betray each other to enhance their positions, if necessary. Aisha herself won't normally instigate one of these squabbles, but, will retaliation against any sibling that does attack her or the people under her care without remorse. This is shown clearly in the climax of World 9 where she has her elder brother exposed and imprisoned for his crimes against her and the refugees under her. When the Knight asks her about her feelings in the aftermath, she outright says that she and her siblings see each other as rivals for the Empire's throne rather than as family members.
  • Changed My Mind, Kid: At the climax of world 10, she abandons her attempts to evacuate her subjects and sends her armies to help defend the Kanterbury camp from the Invader attack that would have wiped them out and joins them in their final assault on the Invader forces on Heavenhold.
  • The Chosen One: She's one of the thirteen Champions.
  • Commonality Connection: In the Unrecorded World timeline, Aisha forms a close bond with Future Princess thanks to their shared experiences of being young rulers forced to try to guide the remains of their people through a hellish war.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She starts out coldly rational and unsympathetic to the refugees in her camps, but slowly grows to empathize with them as they celebrate her efforts to ensure they aren't mistreated. After World 9, she goes out of her way to ensure that they're given proper jobs and aided in rebuilding their lives.
  • Elite Tweak: Aisha's ability to increase attack by up to 80% with her combined buffs gets her into raid parties alone, but fully utilizing her weapon's ability practically requires a fully limit broken Veritas and Sharpshooter to maximize her ability to activate it, and as much crit as you can get away with on everyone else.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She eventually becomes sympathetic to the Kanterburians and helps to free them from the labor camps.
  • Leitmotif: Aisha's Theme.
  • Massively Numbered Siblings: She's the youngest of the seven children of the current Emperor and Empress of Rah.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After witnessing Kanterburians being sacrificed for power, she is horrified by her own part in enabling the tragedy. She says she was a fool for deluding herself before thinking she was making a community and sets out to make it right.
  • Nerves of Steel: Shows these when she begins negotiations with the mafia in the nightmare story. Suddenly have everyone in the room pull guns on you? A casual mention that it didn't work out for the last group of mafia goons to try that puts an end to that idea.
  • Number Two: She act as the secondary leader of the remains of humanity in the Unrecorded World. Future Princess asks her to lead the people in her stead when she is forced to leave them by the Savior.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: She stops the abuses of the refugees in her camps and punishes the officers enacting them. Not because of any sympathy, but because such pointless cruelty brought production down. She's genuinely confused about why the refugees start to celebrate her for doing something she saw as purely rational.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She's stern and won't tolerate those who refuse to do their jobs, but she treats both her subordinates and subjects fairly while going out of her way to ensure they have what they need.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: She may be a princess, but she takes an active role in overseeing the areas assigned to her and leads her forces from the front when the time comes.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In World 10, you reach the Rah encampment just in time to see Aisha loading everyone onto an airship to leave Heavenhold. A timely Super Invader attack seems to deter her even further, but she winds up changing her mind offscreen.
  • Spare to the Throne: Despite having six elder siblings, she's considered the most capable of the current royal heirs, making her a likely candidate to succeed her parents. Her elder siblings see her as a clear threat to their potential ascension and have been known to target her to improve their odds of taking the throne for themselves.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Normally, she's cold and pragmatically professional, but she shows a kinder side with those she trusts. She starts blushing in embarrassment when a couple of Kanterbury refugees compliment her on how much she helped them.
  • You Are in Command Now: She ends up as the sole leader of the remnants of the Rah Empire in the Unrecorded World with the implication that her parents and elder siblings were all killed at some point during the conflict.
  • Youngest Child Wins: It hasn't happened yet, but she's seen as one of the most likely candidates to become the heir to the Empire despite having six elder siblings due to her competence. Her siblings have taken notice of this and enacted plans to sabotage her operations and public image more than once.

    Dragon Knight Shapira
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shapira.jpg
It's the princess's call. I won't object.
JP redesign
Shapira is a knight of the Rah Empire and a servant to Princess Aisha.
Rarity: 2-star
Species: Human
Age: 23
Height and weight: 169cm/52kg
Element: Dark
Role: Warrior
Exclusive Weapon: Fafnir
Voiced By: Hitomi Nakashima (Japanese), Elizabeth Maxwell (English)
Illustrator: Wonchun Choi (GL/KR), ミチハス (JP)

  • Black Knight: Shapira is an intimidating warrior sworn to serve the Rah Empire's royal family clad in black horned armor with red highlights.
  • Butch Lesbian: She's a powerful, practical knight that devotes herself to combat and is deeply infatuated with Princess Aisha.
  • Can't Spit It Out: She can't bring herself to work up the nerve to confess her feelings to Aisha.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: She may wear ominous black and red armor and is a terrifying force against the Empire's enemies, but she is an honorable fighter that respects chivalry and detests pointless cruelty.
  • The Dreaded: Everyone in the Empire knows her strength and fears her wrath.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Can be found in World 1, leading to a side stage that consists entirely of fighting her. While she does have a cameo in World 7, she doesn't reappear in the plot until World 9.
  • Ignored Enamored Underling: She has such a huge crush on Princess Aisha that she becomes completely lost and distraught if Aisha happens to be away. Aisha's feelings towards her are left ambiguous, but she does seem to value Shapira as more than just a trusted subordinate.
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: She's absolutely loyal to the Empire. That said, her loyalty to Aisha overrules that if the two ever come into conflict.
  • Noble Bigot: Even after allying with Kanterbury, Shapira still openly voices some prejudices of its people. Not enough to prevent her from admitting valor or skill when she sees it.
  • Noble Top Enforcer: She's merciless to enemies of the Empire but does have a code of honor that rejects pointless cruelty and she respects those who act with chivalry.
  • Run or Die: A few sections of world 9 have Shapira slowly chase the player through an obstacle-riddled area. Letting her get too close results in Shapira knocking you out in one hit and resetting the area.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Killed in combat during world 10's Time Skip. Shapira dying in particular leads to a rift forming between Aisha and the Princess.
  • Undying Loyalty: The only person she’s more loyal to than the Rah Empire is Princess Aisha herself. So little as an insult to her liege will get someone on the wrong side of her blade. Once you complete world 9 and obtain Aisha, Shapira will happily join you should you talk to her while she's on patrol with Aisha in the party.

    Sniper Hekate
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20200817_231434_guardian_tales.jpg
Huhuhu, working together isn't a bad idea.
JP redesign
Hekate is a veteran freelancing sniper.
Rarity: 2-star
Species: Human
Age: 27
Height and weight: 170cm/52kg
Element: Earth
Role: Ranged
Exclusive Weapon: Negotiator
Voiced By: Ellen Taira (Japanese), Alexa Kahn (English)
Illustrator: Wonchun Choi (GL/KR)

  • Berserk Button: Any attempt to lift something up around her in her Unrecorded World appearance has her respond by instantly blasting it to bits.
  • Cold Sniper: She's ruthless towards her targets but surprisingly affable otherwise.
  • Critical Hit Class: Not only has a team-wide Critical Hit Chance buff, but she gains a significant buff to her own crit rate if left unharmed for a few seconds.
  • Glass Cannon: One of the squishiest characters in the game, but tends to score a lot of crits.
  • Only in It for the Money: To the point that she spares the Knight that she otherwise has dead to rights simply because her employer calls her and cancels the contract moments before she can finish the job. And then you hire her right then and there to recruit her to the party.
    • She's much more of a team player in the Unrecorded World. Mostly because the Invaders have pushed humanity so close to the brink that money is now irrelevant.
