Teatan Kingdom Heroes & Main Characters

    Engineer Marianne
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mariannegl.png
Alright... Watch over me, Marty.
JP artwork
A famed exoskeleton engineer, described as a one-in-a-billion genius, a perfectionist, and a workaholic. Instead of sulking over her small size, she builds weapons bigger than anyone. Though arrogant, she knows when to admire others, but she'll never admit that someone is smarter than her.
Rarity: 2-star
Species: Teatan
Age: 21
Height and weight: 132cm/29kg
Element: Earth
Role: Ranged
Exclusive Weapon: Merciless
Voiced by: Hiroka Aoto (Japanese), Anne Yatco (English)
Illustrator: Wonchun Choi (GL/KR), 笠 (JP)

  • Break the Haughty: She firmly believed that she could save Teatan Kingdom with her Iron Teatan alone and refused anyone's help. It took the Iron Teatan being destroyed by the Invaders and her friend Marty's death to force her to get over her ego and work with others.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: She goes rogue during the 21 Kanterbury Street side story, but after she's defeated, an Invader Crystal pops out of her and shatters, returning her to normal with no memory of her actions under its influence. Seemingly ends up in this situation again as seen in the ending cutscene of World 15, at the hands of the Invaders' 1st Corps Commander before the Knight freed her in World 16.
  • The Chosen One: She's one of the thirteen Champions.
  • Cool Big Sis: She takes up a mentor role with Marty Jr. after the death of his father.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: She's able to make an army of Mini-Mecha in a few hours on her own. World 16 showed that she's able to fully understand and improve the technology of Heavenhold and its army of androids, even while brainwashed. The various new models fought there are said to be her designs.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Her plan in 21 Kanterbury Street is to turn everyone into nerds, and you can briefly be turned into a nerd by an NPC. It's possible to take this transformation into the boss room and sneak attack an unsuspecting Marianne, skipping her Motive Rant entirely as you instantly destroy the Iron Teatan.
  • Humongous Mecha: Builds one to fight the Invaders off. When it gets wrecked, she winds up scrapping it to build a Mini-Mecha army. She builds another one during the Time Skip, which proves to be much more of a powerhouse when backed up by the Rah army.
  • Ineffectual Loner: Tries to take on the Invader army alone with the Iron Teatan. Her defeat to the Harvester leads directly to Marty's death.
  • Insufferable Genius: Just read her official description: she'll never admit that someone is smarter than her.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's arrogant, condescending, and quick with insults, but she truly cares about those around her and does everything she can to fight the Invaders so no one else has to risk their lives doing so.
  • Leitmotif: Marianne's Theme. A slower version plays when Marty dies after protecting her from the Harvester and at the end of World 2. By proxy, Iron Teatan is also hers, though more related to her mecha.
  • Mini-Mecha: Her diminutive size forces her to fight in a small mech rather than battle in the flesh.
  • My Greatest Failure: Being helpless to stop Marty's death haunts her and drives her to keep fighting with the others.
  • One-Hit Polykill: Her standard rocket attacks pierce enemies.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: The Teatans' small size spurred her to create giant robots, which they can use for activities that they can't usually do (such as combat against larger enemies). These mechs are shorter than a human but capable of feats of great strength and durability.
  • Shorter Means Smarter: As a Teatan, she's smaller than almost any other character, but is about tied with Sohee as the smartest.
  • Small Girl, Big Gun: Her design philosophy. It gets to the point where her exclusive weapon is as big as her mech.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: She and Sohee squabble and insult each other often in their shared scenes, but they are shown to be close friends regardless as they're the only people they know smart enough to really understand each other let alone contribute to their projects.
  • Wrench Wench: Inventing and building machines is her passion.

    Marty

    Pirate Rachel

The age of pirates is near!
JP artwork
An ambitious pirate wannabe encountered as part of a crew attempting to take advantage of the chaos of the invasion for profit.
Rarity: 2-star
Species: Half-Elf
Age: 28
Height and weight: 169cm/52kg
Element: Water
Role: Ranged
Exclusive Weapon: Blue Rose

  • Can't Hold Her Liquor: If Heavenhold Special Comic 1 is anything to go by, a single beer is enough to make Rachel throw-up drunk.
  • Friendly Pirate: Apart from her general demeanor, her entire idea of piracy is fighting evil and general adventuring. In-universe, it's assumed she got this romanticized idea from some comic book.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: She's half-elf, on her mother's side.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She betrays her crew and joins the Knight when she gets fed up with preying on the innocent.
  • Leitmotif: Pirate Theme.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: Her conscience interferes with her attempts to follow her captain's orders before she joins.
  • Peaceful in Death: She dies during the Time Skip to world 10... after having saved millions of people and achieving her dreams. Pouring out some rum on her grave summons Rachel for a nice, pleasant chat in an otherwise gloomy portion of the story.
  • Redemption Promotion: She immediately becomes much more effective when fighting for the Knight's cause than she ever was as a subordinate of her old captain.
  • Ship Tease: With Garam in the Heavenhold animated comics, at least to a small degree. The first comic was about her first meeting with him, and the festival comic has Garam and a sleeping Nari accompany her while drunk during the Lantern Festival.
  • Something about a Rose: Her five-star costume features a rose eyepatch and a large rose on her hat, and her exclusive weapon "Blue Rose" generates a rose from the barrel that fires bullets for its weapon skill.
  • Take Up My Sword: After talking to Rachel's ghost in World 10, she'll give you the Blue Rose. You wind up handing it off to a group of kids who vow to continue Rachel's legacy.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: No one is sure what comic she picked this up from, but Rachel's idea of piracy is adventuring on the sea and fighting evil rather than the usual pillaging and looting. She's visibly uncomfortable with having to follow the orders of her much more traditionally ruthless pirate captain.

Teatan Kingdom NPCs

    Vain Teatan
An obnoxious, self-centered, holier-than-thou Teatan who can be found all across Tetis.
  • Dirty Coward: Is willing to throw others under the bus to save her own skin.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Immediately after you enter Teatan Kingdom, your first interaction with her, usually, is ordering her to turn around and save those children she pushed at the Invaders.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: In Once Upon A Time In Burywood, she actually points out the hypocrisy of the Invader director, who had claimed that the invasion was actually well-intentioned, and was hiding behind the discrimination card as an explanation for people's hate for them, by bringing up the topic of their invasion of the Teatan Kingdom and the kidnapping of it's people. Of course, she was accused as being racist, and stoned for it.
  • Hate Sink: Quite probably; after reading this character sheet, you'll know why.
  • It's All About Me: Unapologetically, she has the audacity to make excuses for her cowardice in stage 2-1, claiming that she is the champion of the Teatans and the protector of the weak, which she is most certainly not.
  • One Dialogue, Two Conversations: Played with in in 12-6: She discusses the 'grievous' rights violations and discrimination, which the listening group of protesters assume she is talking about quarantine imposed on District 51... only for it to turn out that she's actually talking about the fact that there were few Teatans in the Demon World police force.
  • Would Hurt a Child: She willingly and knowingly trips over fleeing children to escape from the Invader forces.
