Main Characters

A duo of professional gamers named Five and Miko, who Phil has cynically (and sarcastically) referred to as the D-Team of the branch.
    Hector "Five" Nieves

Hector "Five" Nieves

Oh, Nerds!
Voiced By Ricardo Hurtado (English), Carlos Siller (LatAm)

Gamer Tag: Hi_5

A tall Hispanic boy with a love for classic games, gaming history, and trivia. Highly intelligent and creative but unsure of himself.

  • Always Someone Better: Five has never beat Me_KO any time they played against each other, a fact that makes him a little irked when they first meet face to face.
  • Amnesia Missed a Spot: When he finds his tournament wristband in Mitch's truck, his memories return, and even before that he seems to subconsciously realize that something is off.
  • Butt-Monkey: If the first season is anything to mention, Five has suffered many moments where he's received the short end of the stick and physical slapstick.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Oh, nerds." used usually in replacement of "Oh, no".
  • Cowardice Callout: Calls out Mitch on how the latter thinks he's better than everyone else because he's covering up his insecurities and is too afraid to risk being a team player.
  • Cuddle Bug: Proves to be almost as physically affectionate as Miko as the series goes on.
  • Establishing Character Moment: He takes a five minute break from work to help some kids on a game level they are having trouble with only after getting permission from his grandparents. He was going to forego going to the tournament in episode 1 because he didn't want to leave his grandparents shorthanded in the food truck, until they told him he could go. Tells the audience he's passionate about games but also responsible and cares more about his family than gaming.
  • Fatal Flaw: Insecurity. Though Five is extremely intelligent and a great strategist, this tends to deteriorate rapidly when he feels others are judging him or he's being overshadowed. In particular he's somewhat prickly about the fact that Miko is a better combatant and better at games than he is, and often adopts an openly fake tough guy act around others that leads him to forget strategy in favor of at brute force approach that doesn't suit his skill set.
  • Fat and Skinny: Five is the skinny to Childhood Friend Casino’s fat.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Every once in a while he switches over to Spanish, usually when excited or surprised.
  • Hair Color Dissonance: Five is meant to be black haired, however it appears to be more of a dark blue.
  • Identical Grandson: Five shares similar facial features with his grandmother.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: For the most part, his interests and hobbies make sense for a gamer his age, but occasionally he's shown to take enjoyment in odd and boring things.
    • He finds immense pleasure in game tutorials, to the point where he can list his favorite parts.
    • In "Ping" he's reading, and even laughing at, a rather thick book on "Advanced Bee++ Coding".
  • Nice Guy: While a bit over-competitive from time to time, Five is usually a nice guy who'll help anyone in need.
  • One Head Taller: At his full height, Five is visibly taller than Miko.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Even his grandparents refer to him as Five. Miko didn't even know his given name was Hector until the episode "Ralphie Bear Is Back."
  • Raised by Grandparents: Five's only family members to appear onscreen are his grandparents and there’s no mention as to what happened to his parents, but episode four reveals that they were around two years ago, at least. Season 2 reveals his dad is in prison after being arrested for hacking.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: The Savvy Guy to Miko's Energetic Girl, as he's usually calmer and more focused on planning while Miko is more energetic and tends to rush into situations without thinking.
  • Strong Girl, Smart Guy: With Miko, as he's more puzzle-oriented gamer. This means he usually comes up with the plans and strategies to fight glitches.
    Miko Kubota

Miko Kubota

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/glitch_techs_season_2_1280x720.jpg
Lets ~DO~ it!
Voiced By Monica Ray (English), Desireé Gonzalez (LatAm)

Gamer Tag: Me_K.O.

A Japanese-American girl with a love for RPGs and action-oriented games with very little patience. Trigger happy in some regards but with the reflexes to cope easily enough.

  • 100% Completion: As said in episode five, Miko will play through a game several times to make sure she's completed it fully. She says she can't move on to another game until she's done it. Her insistence on never touching a walkthrough means that she has failed to do this with some games, as revealed in Castlestein.
  • The Ace: In terms of games, Miko is shown to be better than Five on almost every level.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Miko is pleased when in the episode The Glitch Modder, Five spontaneously calls her "Meeks", though later thanks to their brief conflict in that episode she claims she actually hated it. Then she counters by calling Five "Fiver".
  • Ambiguously Human: While she is clearly human, it is played with at times, specifically in "Find the Glitch". Mitch considers Miko's mindwipe immunity (as well as her physical and gaming skills) to be inhuman. Zahra, Nix and Haneesh also start having second thoughts on Miko when they're locked in room where they are forced to "out" the glitch among them to be allowed to leave. While Five doesn't outright deny that Miko is a glitch, he decides it doesn't matter as she is still their friend and fellow Tech. While they are freed before anything can be confirmed (the actual glitch was elsewhere), Barbara makes an ominous comment about the possibility of a glitch with human capabilities.
  • Amnesia Missed a Spot: Or, in her case, "Amnesia Missed Entirely". Miko is completely immune to memory wipes. Even when the memory-wiping device is turned up to a high percentage, it suffers an error when used on her. This has yet to be explained, but it may related to her being knocked against the wall and then falling unconscious when the memory-wiper was used on her during the tournament.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Tends to be very hyper and not able to focus on any one thing besides gaming for more than a few minutes.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Miko and her family tend to act rather uncaring, but any episode that focuses on one of them along with Miko will show that at the end of the day, they are a very loving family.
  • Badass Adorable: A cutesy Genki Girl who's also a skilled Gamer Chick and glitch exterminator.
  • Bad Liar: As she says in episode five.
    "I'm not good at lying."
  • Berserk Button: Any form of manual or tutorial causes her to become blind with rage.
  • Catchphrase Insult: She calls Mitch a "Dingleberry" on a few occasions.
  • The Chosen One: Played with. She speculates that this is why Hinobi's mind-wiping technology doesn't work on her, though she acknowledges that the opposite is a likely possibility. Unbeknownst to her, Hinobi's execs have a lot of interest in Miko's (and to a lesser extent, Five's) abilities and potential.
  • Cuddle Bug: Has the tendency to be physically affectionate with people around her, mostly in the form of enthusiastic hugs.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In the pilot, Miko makes her first appearance rocking out to a Guitar Hero-like video game, annoying Lexi in the process.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Miko has a multilayered haircut, with a long strand that dangles in front of her left ear, even at work when the rest is up in a bun.
  • Friendless Background: Mostly due to destroying the popular (and scary) Ralph Bear animatronic during a birthday party she was invited back in her childhood as it made her infamous among the children of Bailey.
  • Forgotten First Meeting: Despite having faced him multiple times in the past, Miko can't remember ever seeing Five's gamer tag before the pilot episode. Crosses over into But for Me, It Was Tuesday, as Miko easily won those encounters so Five never really stuck out to her.
  • Gamer Chick: Miko is an avid gamer girl to the point of obsession. While this allows her to possess enough knowledge to face Glitch versions of some of her favorite games, it also gets her in trouble with her family at times.
  • Genki Girl: She's one boisterous tomboy. Even while playing games, she tends to move and run around constantly.
  • Hartman Hips: Miko is drawn with a small, somewhat thin torso with large hips and sturdy legs.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While she's not a Jerkass to Mitch's extent, she's sometimes pigheaded and impatient opposite Five. But her heart is in the right place when it comes to dire situations.
  • Male Gaze: The show likes to emphasize Miko's backside, hips and legs via specific angles.
  • Meaningful Name: Miko can mean "beautiful child" in Japanese, but supposedly it can also mean "shrine maiden" or "annoying".
  • Middle Child Syndrome: Miko is one out of many brothers and sisters, but age-wise she appears to be somewhere in the middle and is often lost in the shuffle.
  • No-Sell: Hinobi's memory wipe doesn't work on her.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: She's shorter than Five and most of her friends, but is arguably stronger than them.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: She and Five are the most important people in the world to the other. Frequent clashes between the two come down to a sense of not trusting each other with relevant or personal information and are just as easily squashed when the party at fault comes clean.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: The Energetic Girl to Five's Savvy Guy, as she's more energetic and tends to rush into situations without thinking while Five is usually calmer and more focused on planning.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Miko and her mother share similar facial structures and body types.
  • Strong Girl, Smart Guy: With Five. Her first, second, and third options in most situations are to hit things or blast them.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Miko is the tomboy to Nica's girly girl.
  • The Unfavorite: How she feels in her family due to them dismissing her love of video games as childish and unproductive. This is somewhat alleviated after Miko gets a job in the Hinobi Store, but it's still there.

    Ally

Ally

A bird-like glitch from the Bravestone series of games that befriends Miko and becomes her official pet.
  • Action Pet: Ally is this to Miko who treats her quite affectionately.
  • All Animals Are Dogs: She has shown Miko affection by licking her face on a few occasions.
  • Meaningful Name: Ally (pronounced "Alley") is a support character, an ally who helps Five and Miko on their missions.
  • Power-Up Food: Miko learns that Ally has these, which not only restore her life-points but also give her a fire form (not only that it's revealed that there are several variants that give additional power-ups).
  • Primary-Color Champion: Ally has red and yellow feathers with a blue beak and talons.
  • Teleport Spam: She is able to teleport radically whenever she feels like it, but if she is with someone like Miko who can't teleport it renders her unable to as well.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: For Miko, Ally is a beloved friend, but she also says she doesn't want to think too hard about whether or not a glitch counts as being alive or not. When Ally seems to be broken, Five asks why Miko doesn't just get a new one, saing that no one would know. Miko states that she would know that it wouldn't be the real Ally.

    Alpha

Alpha

A cycloptic gorilla-like robot from Bravestone XII that Five befriends during a "trust exercise" simulation. After escaping the simulation, he becomes his digital companion pet.
  • Animal Mecha: Alpha looks and acts like a cycloptic robot with a gorilla build to it.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He sacrifices himself to the Blob Monster to guarantee that Miko and Five make it through the portal home. He gets better.
  • Line-of-Sight Name: He got his name from the alpha symbol on his left shoulder.
  • Out of Focus: Compared to Ally, who's in nearly every episode, Alpha only appears in one episode in season 1 and 2 each.
  • Robot Buddy: After their adventure together, he becomes Five's digital companion pet.

Hinobi and the Glitch Techs

A highly popular technology and gaming company. At each branch there's a group of Hinobi employees that also work as High-tech Glitch hunters when Glitches are created and escape from their games.

Bailey Branch

    Phil

Phil

Voiced by Scott Kreamer

The boss of the local Hinobi store and director of the town's Glitch Techs. In addition to being a good administrator and crisis manager, capable of hiding problems from the higher ups until they're resolved, Phil is also a veteran Glitch Tech. Though rarely joining in the hunt himself he is not only capable but highly skilled.

  • Berserk Button: Making comments about his age appears to be one, either that or implying he fights with BITT like an old married couple.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: Phil has these.
  • Death Glare: He can do a really good one.
  • Hidden Depths: It's revealed in season 2 that when he was younger Phil was mindwiped by someone else from Hinobi to hide something he discovered in the development labs. Knowing it was coming he prepared a message to himself with the relevant data and covertly programmed BITT to be able to lead him back to it. It just took longer then expected to happen.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He can be grumpy and cynical, yet he is also dedicated to doing a good job.
  • Mission Control: He's the one who dispatches Glitch Techs to take care of Glitches and to clean up the messes they cause. This role is shared with BITT who helps with directing Glitch Techs around, arranging for backup, and dispatching specialized power-ups.
  • Mr. Exposition: He explains the ropes to Five and Miko.
  • Not So Above It All: Phil is very no-nonsense, but according to BITT, he’s really into buddy cop shows. Episode 2 also showed that he tended to take a lot of shortcuts when running the store.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: As Five and Miko’s boss, he’s shown to be firm, but reasonable.

    BITT

BITT

Voiced By Dan Milano (English), Carlos Diaz (LatAm).

A floating robot that assists the Glitch Techs with information and on the job training for rookie techs. He also serves as an office assistant keeping Phil connected with his bosses.

  • A.I.-cronym: His name stands for Binary Intelligence Tech Trainer.
  • The Comically Serious: His cute appearance and Brutal Honesty leads to a ton of hilarious moments.
  • Cute Machines: Miko's first reaction upon him booting up is to hug him and demand that she gets a robot like him.
  • Mission Control: He's the one who directs Glitch Techs around, arranging for backup, and dispatches specialized powerups from HQ. This role is shared with Phil who actually dispatches Glitch Techs to take care of Glitches and clean up the messes they cause.
  • Mr. Exposition: Explains the rudiments of what Glitch Techs do in the pilot.
  • Punny Name: His name references bits, which are used to measure how much data can be stored on a hard drive. It can also reference 8-bits, 16-bits, etc..
  • Robot Buddy: Most directly to Phil since he usually stays at the Hinobi base rather than going on missions, but also helps out the rest of the team with training.
  • Superpowered Robot Metermaids: Season 2 reveals BITT has some serious combat ability when he needs it.

    Emma

Emma

Voiced By Felicia Day

A Hinobi scientist who specializes in artificial intelligence.

  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: As Five and Miko discover, Emma's a little nutty but she is good at what she does.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Emma is introduced by making a dramatic entrance out of a giant cat-beast's mouth, only to exclaim that she found her car keys.
  • The Only Way They Will Learn: She deliberately sends Five and Miko into the A.I. realm so the former can better understand A.I. and so the latter could better understand Ally's needs.

    Mitch Williams

Mitch Williams

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/glitch_techs_season_2_1280x720_5.jpg
Move away, noobs! Mitch is here.
Voiced By Luke Youngblood (English), Geraldo Mendoza (LatAm).

A British veteran Glitch Tech and a famous gamer with a huge superiority complex and also Five and Miko's rival.

  • Anti-Hero: While he is a total asshole, he is on the good side in the end.
  • Asshole Victim: Mitch is a jerk, but he routinely gets what he deserves for it.
  • Character Catchphrase: Boosh!, "I'm Mitch Williams!" and "Thanks for the distraction, noobs!"
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite being a prick and a griefer, he follows Phil's rules to not go to Dabney and indulge in glitch poaching, being completely disappointed in Five when he went across the city lines to catch the pancake cat.
  • Evil Brit: Not evil, per se, but he is British and a total Jerkass.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Downplayed, as Mitch is legitimately talented and can easily fight Miko on equal terms. Despite this, his ranking at the top of the local Glitch Techs is repeatedly shown to be heavily based on cheating, kill stealing, and undercutting his rivals. Not to mention how he's far from the heroic archetype he would like you to think he is.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Is the youngest and smallest of his siblings, and the only one who doesn't keep misusing his equipment. By contrast, his brothers and sister's house is the biggest concentration of glitches in town.
  • The Friend No One Likes: Miko and Five naturally don't like him due to the tournament incident in the first episode, but later learn that they aren't the only ones. Even Mitch's own teammates admit to hating him and are utterly baffled when they learn Five was trying to emulate the guy in order to gain their respect in "Alpha Strike".
  • Full-Name Basis: It's always Mitch Williams, as shown throughout this trope page.
  • Good Is Not Nice: While Mitch Williams is the best Glitch Tech in their division, he's also a complete egotist who happily abuses the company's technology to serve his own personal needs and constantly talks down to his coworkers.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Mitch's human moments are often done out of the sight of his teammates as he hates being vulnerable.
    • For example, he callously volunteers to wipe Ridley's memories only to decide against it outside the Hinobi store, letting her go with her memories intact. He had every right as Ridley lied about not helping Five and Miko cheat their way to the top of the ranks, attempted to steal their gear and overloaded the core that holds all of the captured glitches. But he let her go because she ultimately gave all that up to undo the damage and let Mitch be the top Tech again.
  • Irony: He does not do teamwork at all, but he was originally part of a well-known team with his siblings.
  • Jerkass: Oh, big time. He's shown repeatedly abusing his tech for things as minor as getting food without paying, is shown to care more about winning than taking care of the victims of Glitch attacks, mind-wiped Five because Five beat him in the tournament, and repeatedly performs a Kill Steal by capturing Glitches that Miko and Five have already weakened. Not even his own teammates can stand him.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: He is a jerk, but sometimes he's right.
    • In "The New Recruit" after he sees Miko, Five and Ridley take his spot on the high score, he rightly assumes they used some kind of trick.
    • "Find The Glitch", when everyone is trying to find which Tech is a glitch, Mitch makes a very strong case that Miko is a glitch, especially with the point about her memory couldn't be reset, something isn't normal for any human. It turned none of them was a glitch, but despite the rest of the Glitch Techs disliking Mitch, he actually convinced everyone besides Five and Miko he was right.
  • Jerkass to One: He's got plenty of attitude to spread around but that's just weak sportsmanship. Being smug and insufferable toward Five and Miko? That's personal.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's still egotistical and self-centered, but he does show some of this in season 2, where he's more willing to swallow his pride and work with others.
  • Kind Hearted Cat Lover: Prior to becoming a Glitch Tech, he had a pet cat called "Mrs. Boosch", which is where his catchphrase comes from.
  • Kill Steal: Frequently snipes Glitches that Miko and Five weakened before they can capture it themselves. However, he makes sure to only do this within his division.
  • Mr. Exposition: He explains to Miko that parasitic glitches are very rare and worth a lot of points.
    • Later explains how to overclock tech, explaining it's something that management doesn't want the Glitch Techs to know about due to the risk.
  • Mutually Unequal Relation: Mitch Williams believes that his teammates Zahra and Haneesh respect him as their team leader. In truth, while they do follow his orders as the leader, and are civil with him battling glitches and off the clock, nether of them can stand his jerkish behavior and don't respect him like he thinks they do, and while they are content to follow his lead, they only follow his orders because he's the team leader.
  • Not Me This Time: In "The Real Glitch Techs" when the Dabney Branch accuses the Bailey Branch of intruding on their territory, after the Bailey Glitch Techs spend the episode denying it (noting Five was the culprit) their first assumption was that Mitch was the guilty party given how much he will Kill Steal from them. Even when Five admits he was the culprit, they assume that Mitch stole the glitch first and that Five stole it from Mitch, much to Mitch's annoyance.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Visibly panics when Miko shrugs off his attempts to erase her memory.
    • He also panics when Miko and Five were about to get a job from 1984 Spangler Street, albeit this one is justified after it's revealed that's his home address.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In "I Am Mitch Williams" he decides to just give up during a mission because said mission involves his game-obsessed siblings who don't seem to understand the danger they're in.
  • Pet the Dog: Every once in a while he can be shown not to be 100% a jerk.
    • In season two he lets Ridley keep her memories despite the damage she did in order to obtain her own gauntlet.
    • He may be annoyed with Five and Miko, but in "Find the Glitch" even he admits that Five is not the glitch that his hiding among them.
    • He also allows Ridley to leave with her memories intact and tell her she has potential as a future Glitch Tech.
  • Redemption Promotion: While Mitch isn't a villain, he is still a big Jerkass. When he opposes Miko and Five, this typically leads to him humiliated for whatever reason. When he's not being a jerk, he gets to demonstrate that he is legitimately talented Glitch Tech.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: A variant with his visor, which has a rosy reddish tint compared to the green-blue tint of the other Glitch Techs.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Supernatural Powers!: Not supernatural per se, but if things aren't going his way, expect him to use his Tech Gauntlet to erase people's memory to force things his way.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: He's Mitch Williams, the best Glitch Tech...in his division.
  • Smug Super: Because of his status as one of the most valuable Glitch Techs in the Bailley branch as well as his genuinely superior talents compared to those of his teammates Zahra and Haneesh whom he sees as inferior, Mitch considers himself peerless and justified in his entitlement be it extra points, respect or just petty "hero" perks like free food from Mama Miyamoto's.
  • Token Evil Teammate: He abuses his power and even uses the memory-erasing device to score free food.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: In Season 2, he starts becoming a bit nicer, acknowleding Five and Miko as true teammates and even lets Ridley go with her memories intact.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: His old Tweeker videos as "Mitch FTW" show his beginnings as a dorky, humble fanboy who simply enjoyed video games and sharing player advice. Five theorizes that becoming a Glitch Tech "changed" Mitch. "I Am Mitch Williams" also shows that he used to be part of a gaming team with his older siblings before his work and their obsession with playing games caused them to separate, believing that his big bros and sis didn't really need him when he became a Glitch Tech.
  • Villainous Rescue: Downplay on the "Villainous" but he saves Miko and Five from the Possession Glitch that corrupted Casino in "Smashazaurs" (if only for the XP and the bragging rights of capturing a very rare glitch).
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Has white hair and, while not evil, he's known to be a bit of an egotistical prick.

    Zahra

Zahra

Voiced By Zehra Fazal
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/glitchthumb_1597783357380_7.jpg
What's your Glitch, Zahra? Just talk to the dude[Five]!
A Muslim girl and veteran Glitch Tech that works in the Hinobi store and is also a member of Mitch's team. In "BUDS", she is revealed to have a crush on Five.
  • BFS: Her weapon of choice is a giant pink laser sword that is even shaped a little like Cloud's Buster Blade.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: She has a crush on Five, but she has trouble telling him as her quote proves.
  • Combat Parkour: She is shown to be quite adept at this, much to the amazement of both Five and Miko.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Tends to be this before and during battles, mostly due to snarking back at Mitch for his entitled attitude.
  • Pink Is Feminine: Her main weapon is a bright pink sword.
  • Sour Supporter: She is typically one of the most sarcastic Techs, and openly admits most of her Glitch Tech gear is leveled up for support. The fact that she and Haneesh are part of the Jerkass Mitch's team more than justifies her sour attitude.
  • Twofer Token Minority: Not only does she follow The Smurfette Principle within her team, she's also Muslim.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The only girl in Mitch's team.
  • Uncovering Relationship Status: She starts developing feelings for Five, and in BUDS she asks Miko about their relationship just to be safe.
  • Valley Girl: Her accent and slang have shades of this.

    Haneesh

Haneesh

Voiced By Sandeep Parikh (English), Arturo Catajo (LatAm)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/haneesh_7.png

Another veteran Glitch Tech, a member of Mitch's team and friend of Zahra.

  • Nice Guy: While a little sarcastic, he's very supportive of the rookies Five and Miko, and was fine with Five temporarily becoming leader of Mitch's team.
  • Noodle Incident: Mentions he was a team leader once and that it did not go well.
  • Playful Hacker: His specialty is hacking which both he and Zahra confirm in "Alpha Leader".
    Zahra: He loves hacking.
    Haneesh: I love hacking!
  • Top-Heavy Guy: He has a stocky upper body with extremely small legs.

    Bergy

Bergy

Voiced By: Josh Sussman
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bergy_5.jpg
A low-level Glitch Tech that befriends Five when they join forces to accumulate XP to buy a pair of limited edition shoes.
  • Boring Yet Practical: He focuses more on dealing with low level glitches than boss level glitches like Mitch does. It’s not as exciting as fighting bosses but it is a lot safer and with how many low level glitches are ignored by other Glitch Techs, Bergie is able to grind just as much XP as anyone else at the store.
  • Butt-Monkey: Suffer this at times. Prime example: during the Castlestein incident he was turned to a statue in an uncool pose. Adding insult to injury, a stray shot from Miko's spork sword damaged the statue, leaving him with a Gag Haircut when he's restored.
  • Give Geeks a Chance: Blake, the girl at the Spaghetti In A Bucket drivethrough counter, is attracted to him and finds him "mysterious".
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: Bergie sticks to the low-level glitches which don't give out much XP and are considered beneath most Glitch Techs. However, due to these being relatively safer and easier to accomplish jobs, he's able to quickly rack up as much XP as everyone else, if not more.

    Nix
Voiced By: Greg Nix
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nix_6.jpg
A Glitch Tech that works in the local arcade and is often paired with Bergy for missions.
  • Butt-Monkey: While not as unlucky as Bergy, he's still threatened with little respect among his peers.
  • The Generic Guy: Apart of occasional butt monkey moments, he is the most "normal" amongst the recurrent techs with speaking lines. Even appearance wise, he doesn't stand out a lot.
  • Hidden Depths: In 'I Am Mitch Williams', it's revealed that he's learning how to manipulate pixels.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: When he is left out of the Glitch Techs sitcom opening, the song tacks on "Oh yeah... And Nix!"
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Downplayed, but he claims that everybody calls him the "Keeper of the Scores" in the local Arcade. Miko immediately tells him that nobody calls him that.
  • Tuckerization: He's named after his voice actor.

Dabney Branch

    In General
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: Not including director Joan, Nameless and Wes are the boys, while Simi and Ray are the girls.
  • Psycho Rangers: To the Bailey Techs, though they're by no means evil.

    Simi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/simi.jpg
A minor background Glitch Tech in early episodes. She is later transfered to the Hinobi Store in Dabney, becoming a member of Nameless' team.
  • Ascended Extra: She was just a background Glitch Tech before being transfered to the Dabney branch.
  • Handwave: Her being part of another branch out-of-nowhere is explained by Miko saying that she was transferred to another branch off-screen during The Real Glitch Techs.
  • The Rival: During The Real Glitch Techs, she fought Zahra when the two teams started fighting each other over a group of Glitches. After they are forced to work together, both she and Zahra mention that working together doesn't make them friends. Although the secret achievement of "hidden relationship" could mean that she's a Friendly Rival instead.

    Nameless
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nameless_4.jpg
The Leader of a Glitch Techs team in Dabney, he hides his true face behind a helmet. When Five captures an extremely rare Glitch that wandered into Dabney territory, he declares open season on Glitches in both cities.
  • Affectionate Parody: Of Sentai, he wears a helmet and charismatically leads his team in synchronized poses much like a Sentai team.
  • Cool Helmet: With digital eyes that emote for him.
  • Kill Steal: Harasses the Bailey Glitch Techs by having Wes and Ray hack their equipment and capturing Glitches in their city.
  • The Nameless: His name is literally "Nameless".
  • Not So Above It All: He also likes the same cat collection game like Five does.
  • The Rival: To the Bailey Glitch Techs as a whole, though he butts heads with Mitch the most.

    Wes and Ray
Half-Identical Twins in Nameless' Glitch Techs team in Dabney.
  • Half-Identical Twins: Wes is male and Ray is female, but otherwise look almost exactly alike.
  • Hollywood Hacking: They get the jump on the Bailey Glitch Techs by remotely hacking and tampering with their gauntlets.

    Joan
Director of the Dabney Hinobi store and their Glitch Tech team.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Phil even calls her 'Joan of Snark'.
  • The Rival: To Phil, having created an unofficial rule to not capture Glitches outside their respective city limits after a petty dispute over one many years ago.

Higher ups

    Barbara/Inspector 7

Barbara a.k.a. Inspector 7

Voiced by: Betsy Sodaro (English), Alicia Barragan (LatAm).

A former Glitch Tech currently working as an inspector for Hinobi and a old acquaintance of Phil.

  • Ambiguously Human: The series implies she either knows about Glitches that take human form or that she's one herself.
Barbara: (About advanced A.I. with the ability to simulate a personality) Don't be silly, but... everything is possible... (glasses shimmer ominously)
  • Ambiguously Evil: The end of episode two reveals that she’s secretly investigating Five and Miko, though it’s unclear what her or her superiors' motives are.
  • Younger Than They Look: She's in her twenties even though she looks Phil's age.

    Agent Boyn/The Tech Specialist

Agent Boyn a.k.a. The Tech Specialist

Voiced By: Fred Tatasciore

A specialist sent by Hinobi to impose a permaban on the Furious Four due to repeated glitch occurences in their house from the mistreatment of Hinobi game tech.

  • Actor Allusion: See the example below for Expy.
  • All There in the Manual: He is named Agent Boyn on his official character sheet, but not in his introductory episode, which only uses his title.
  • Comically Serious: His serious mein and deep voice are played for comedy.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": A tech specialist introduced as and thus far known only by his job title.
  • Expy: A rather obvious one to Soldier: 76, with his design having very similar eyewear to the former's tactical visor and a similar demeanor. Fred Tatasciore even uses the same voice he uses for 76.

Civilians

    Mayumi Kubota
Voiced By: Stephanie Sheh (English), Alexandra Vicencio (LatAm)

Miko's mother. She is constantly pushing her children to "grow up" and be productive, especially Miko.

  • Hartman Hips: Like Miko, she drawn with wide hips and sturdy legs.
  • Parents as People: She clearly wants the best for the children, but her tendency to disapprove of everything she finds unproductive has led to Miko becoming very disconnected from the family, which in turn has led to her forcing Miko to spend time with her siblings when she doesn't want to under threats of punishment.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She and Miko have similar body types and facial structures, and she and Lexi share the same skin tone and face shape.

    Lexi Kubota

Lexi Kubota

Voiced By: Haley Tju

Miko's younger sister, who's aware of the Glitch Techs.

  • The Ace: It's mentioned that Lexi rarely has trouble with anything she tries to do, which is why karate frustrates her so much because it is difficult, but despite that, she still enjoys it.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Towards Miko when she doesn't get her way or gets frustrated.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: She has a sense of superiority towards Miko because of her competitive achievements in real activities, something that Miko lacks due to Miko's achievements being from video games, which she believes no one takes seriously.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She looks like a kid version of her mother.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Acts as this for Miko for a bit — as she saw everything within her bedroom and thus her memories eren't erased — before transitioning to regular Secret-Keeper.

    Nica Kubota

Nica Kubota

Voiced By: Rachel Russakoff

Miko's older sister, obsessed with her phone and keeping a good image in public to avoid humiliation in school.

  • Aloof Big Sister: She tends to act like this towards Miko in order to avoid being seen doing something embarrassing due to her paranoia of becoming the laughing stock of her class.
  • Ambiguous Situation: How much of Miko's glitch tech job she knows about is a little vague. She helps Miko, Five, and Bergy takedown a glitch in episode 7, afterwards she's not shown to get mindwiped, however Miko did give a vague handwave explanation which Nica seemed to buy.
  • Closet Geek: She tries to hide behind an uncaring cool persona, but get her playing a game and she becomes almost as hyperactive as Miko. By the end of episode 7 she's even fully participating in the enthusiastic quest chant with her sister, Five, and Bergy - not caring a whit about how "dorky" it would look to her peers.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: How she sees herself (responsible) in comparison to her sister Miko (Foolish), this is one of the reasons they don't get along most of the time.
  • Gamer Chick: Was one before entering High School, according to Miko when she reveals that Nica was the one who taught her how to play video games. The end of episode 7 reveals she still is, but doesn't consider app games to be real games, which is usually only an opinion held by hardcore gamers.
  • Insistent Terminology: Those aren't games on her phone, those are apps!
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: She spends most of her time looking at her phone, on social media or apps.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Her fixation with public decorum greatly contrast with Miko's boisterous personality.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Nica is the girly girl to Miko’s tomboy.

    Papi and Abuela Nieves

Papi and Abuela Nieves

Five's grandparents and guardians. They run a local taco truck where Five worked before being recruited by Hinobi.

  • Ambiguously Brown: Abuela Nieves has a lighter skin tone and differently-shaped eyes in comparison to Papi, Emilio and Fives.
  • Cool Old Guy / Cool Old Lady: They run a cool Mexican-Chinese fusion theme truck and support Five's interest in gaming.
  • Fat and Skinny: Papi is large and stocky while Abuela is thinner and smaller.
  • Foil: To Miko's parents. Five's grandparents fully support his love for video games, practically had to force him to leave work at the taco trunk since the tournament is a big opportunity, and even took him to the tournament themselves in their thought-to-be-broken taco truck.

    Emilio Nieves
Five's father, a skilled programmer who had a hand in designing some of the very first video games as well as having a knack for assembling or disassembling code in general. In addition to programming games, Emilio is said to have been exceedingly good at breaking down digital security systems.
  • Disappeared Dad: Emilio is currently in prison for hacking, though what exactly he hacked and why are not currently known. Despite having a criminal record, his family and friends regards him well.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: He's an expert programmer having do pioneering work on some of the original videogames. Unfortunately those same skills also lead him to computer crime.
  • Playful Hacker: While not stated his characterization along with the passing comments of his old coworkers suggest this.

    Casino

Casino

A Childhood Friend of Five and a huge fan of Smashozaurs.

    Ridley

Ridley

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ridley.jpg

Voiced by: Ashly Burch (English) Karla Falcon (LatAm).

A hacker/modder who discovered Hinobi Glitches by experimenting on her personal console. Additionally she can create entirely original content using Hinobi's pixel tech and modifies Glitches to be docile pets. Despite being a decent person and not intending harm to others Ridley is emotionally volatile, vulnerable to anger as well as being somewhat oversensitive to criticism or disagreements.

  • Anti-Villain: She's this in the two episodes she appears. While she's not malicious, she's incredibly selfish and short-sighted and only cares about her modded glitches and herself. Justified as she is often made fun of for being "weird" and is worried about going through that again.
  • Berserk Button: Bullies and people that like to humiliate those below them just because they can.
  • Can't Take Criticism: A side effect of her Freudian Excuse of being bullied for being "weird" results in Ridley taking just about any criticism of anything she does, including her moral choices, as 'proof' that whoever is doing it is just another bully, even if they were her friend a moment ago. It's this perception of hers of everyone as a potential enemy that drives many of her more hostile and antagonistic moments. Sadly, it's also Truth in Television - bullied children tend to see bullies everywhere, even where there are none, because they learn to expect the abuse.
  • Companion Cube: She modded a Chomp Kitty into a pink, friendly cute one without the aggression named Horn. It often acts as her Morality Pet, especially when Ridley crosses more questionable behavior.
  • Easily Forgiven: Double Subverted. She almost destroys Hinobi HQ in anger and although she helps undo her mistake and was forgiven, she's fired from the Glitch Techs and has to have her memories wiped (Phil is especially regretful of this decision). However, while Mitch volunteers to do the job for them (Ridley helped Five and Miko cheat their way to the top of the ranks), he secretly decided aganst it and sends her home with her memories intact since she did came back to help clean up her mess.
  • Freudian Excuse: She was bullied most of her life because of her short stature and her "weird" love for technology and computers, causing her to be very distrustful of others and very aggressive towards bullies.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Has the ability to modify Glitches and even upgrade Hinobi technology with apparent ease. Ridley is effectively a prodigy when it comes to tech.
  • Playful Hacker: Primarily mods Glitches just for fun, though this puts her at odds with the Glitch Techs who need to contain even her harmless Glitches.
  • The Mole: She joined Glitch Techs specifically to obtain one of their gauntlets for easier modding. While she almost destroys the HQ after a stint with her allies (Fives and Miko accidentally destroyed her lair previously, adding to her Freudian Excuse), and fired as a result, she is Easily Forgiven by everyone after helping to undo the damage, and kept her memories thanks to Mitch (according to Phil, those who don't make the cut has to be wiped). In the end, she gets the schematics to make her very own gauntlet.
  • Tomboy: She has no feminine tastes to speak of, caring more about technology and her modded Glitches.

    Mike Simms

Mike Simms

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mike_simms_3.png
A bratty kid that develops a rivalry with Miko over a Dance Fighting game.
  • The Ace: He beat Miko's high score in Rock'em Sock'Em twice without any troubles and it's implied that he's very good in other games.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Has a huge ego and has the gal to make fun of people older and taller than him.
  • Friendless Background: Implied as Miko sees a little of herself in him and while he gloats in her face after defeating her in Rock'em Sock'em, he nervously ask her if they can play again someday.
  • Kick the Dog: He goes out of his way to top Miko's high score multiple times to erase her from the scoreboard entirely.
  • The Rival: Develops a rivalry with Miko over Rock'em Sock'em.
  • Unknown Rival: Ridley is this to him since he most probably doesn't even know who she is.

    The Furious Four
A popular streaming group whose house is an epicenter of Glitch activity. They are also Mitch's siblings.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Let's get furious!"
  • Crazy-Prepared: They have a back-up generator in case of a powerout...during a time when the Glitch Techs were trying to lay a trap by cutting off the power.
  • Foil: To Miko's siblings. While they are Massive Numbered Siblings who are completely unaware of one of their sibling's work for Glitch Techs (with the exception of Lexi and possibly Nica), they are complete opposites. Miko's siblings are mostly work (with Lexi and Nica learning to lighten up), while the Furious Four are mostly play. Miko's siblings mostly tidy up their house, while the Furious Four mostly leave their house a mess. While most of Miko's family don't care about games, the Furious Four's life is nothing but games.
  • Non-Indicative Name: They're called "Furious Four" but there's only three members which Five notes. The fourth member is later revealed to be Mitch himself.
  • Sibling Team: They're a gaming team made out of three sibilings with Mitch being their fourth member.

Glitches

Physical manifestations of virtual game characters spawned due to malfunctioning hardware.
    In General
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Glitches are the results of malfunctioning electronic devices. They also hold no regard for human life and will attack them without a second thought.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Quite a lot of glitches have loud and over the top personalities.
  • Monster of the Week: All of the Glitches the tech faces are only fought once. An entirely new glitch appears next episode.
    Chomp Kitty

Chomp Kitty

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chomp_kitty_3.png
A giant green cat with sharp teeth.
  • Cats Are Mean: Chomp Kitty is the first glitch monster.
  • Getting Eaten Is Harmless: Gulps down Mitch and a few kids during its rampage, but thankfully they all just end up trapped in its stomach and are harmlessly released upon its defeat. It helps that they were luckily only Swallowed Whole by Chomp Kitty instead of it deciding to chew with its huge fangs.
  • Green and Mean: Has bright green fur and is one nasty feline.
  • Miracle-Gro Monster: Starts out about the size of a regular cat, but grows in size and power the more it devours objects and people.
  • Slasher Smile: Tends to have this as its usual expression, given its razor-sharp fangs.
  • Starter Villain: Unless one counts the animated stone idol Glitch that the duo faced during the Hinobi Smash tournament, Chomp Kitty is the very first opponent faced by Five and Miko to prove themselves as Glitch Techs.
  • Villainous Glutton: It's only motivated by the urge to eat whatever is around it.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Has no qualms about gulping down the kids at the arcade it spawns in.
    Castlestein

The Glitch itself

A powerful mapper glitch that has captured multiple tech teams.
  • Expy: Of the Castlevania series.
  • Exact Words: "I am the Blade Demon of Truth! You can not defeat me!"
  • Guide Dangit!: Both Miko and Five could not finish the game in their normal playthroughs of the game because it gives so little hints on how to proceed. It seems most of the captured techs fell victim to that too.
  • Hopeless Bossfight: The Blade Demon of Truth. The only way to progress is by running away from it through an invisible path behind a spiky wall.
  • Level in Reverse: After defeating Nogrog for the first time and finding out how to use the curved blade, the entire castle flips upside down with the final destination being the entrance hall.

Count Nogrog

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/countnogrog.png
Humanity? I laugh! What is humanity but a pile of petty vanities.
Click here to see his monster form
Humanity ill need a savior such as you guys!

The owner of the eponymous castle and the main avatar of the game.

  • Bishie Sparkles: They accompany almost any movement he makes.
  • "Blind Idiot" Translation: Implied. Some of his dialogue doesn't make any sense grammatically or otherwise, which might stem from an imperfect translation of his game.
  • Expy: Of Dracula from the Castlevania series, being the final boss of his game and a hammy, muscular fantasy-monster. His opening lines even reference Dracula's iconic pre-battle dialogue from Symphony of the Night.
Nogrog: What is a mortal but a pile of petty vanities?
  • Foreshadowing: His pre-battle dialogue is full of this, in line with the sneaky nature of the rest of his castle. When he says he puts his "heart and soul" into the statues in his collection, he's indirectly cluing the heroes in that the way to truly defeat him is to destroy the statue modeled after his first form. "If I fall, you may rise" is a clue to how the curvy sword is supposed to be used (as a key to literally turn his castle around). "Time is always on my side" hints at his second form, which he is able to take after the (now reversed) clock strikes midnight.
  • Gorgeous Gorgon: He's a vampire/gorgon that has snakes for hair and can petrify people. He's also been referred to as "fabulous" multiple times.
  • No-Sell: Is completely immune to all types of weapons used directly against him in his second form.
  • One-Winged Angel: True to to its source Nogrog transforms into a feral bat-like monster after he's defeated the first time, just like how Dracula always does in Castlevania.
  • Sdrawkcab Name: His name is actually the word "gorgon" spelled backward.
  • Soul Jar: The only way to defeat him in his second form is by attacking the statue right behind him.
  • Taken for Granite: Has this power in his monster form. Later succumbs to this fate when his statue is destroyed.
  • Time Master: With his castle inverted, he is able to turn time back by an hour turning it back into midnight once again.
    Team Enter Name

Team Enter Name

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/teamentername.png
'From left to right: Argyle, Zed, Tank, Mecha'

A team of multiplayer glitches trying to takeover an amusement park.

  • Berserk Button: Tank goes for High Five specifically because he sees him [Five] as a bad leader.
  • Blood Knight: All of them enjoys a good brawl but Mecha takes the cake.
    Mecha: Smashing? I love smashing!
  • The Comically Serious: Tank speaks his sentences with complete seriousness no matter how ridiculous they sound.
Tank: He [Five] shall pay for disrespecting the new leader of Marshmallow Mountain!
  • Floating Limbs: Zed's legs hover independently of her main body.
  • Glass Cannon: Zed can send out multiple powerful beams in one turn yet she dies immediately after Five hit her once.
  • Grappling-Hook Pistol: Argyle can launch his claw on a long cable in order to attack from afar.
  • Hook Hand: Argyle's right arm ends in a mechanical claw with a pincer-like look.
  • Hypocrite: Although Tank criticized Five for being a bad leader, he also acted like a bad leader when he refused to listen to the warnings of a member of his team.
  • Mad Libs Catchphrase:
    Mecha: [Thing], I hate [thing]!
  • Death Is Cheap: They can respawn. So no matter how many times they fall in battle they will always come back as Five learns the hard way. The only way of defeating them permanently is by destroying their massive ship, which is not an easy task.
  • Oh, Crap!: Tank gives a pretty big one when he realizes that their control posts are about to be used against them.
    Tank: Oh, nerds.
  • Rhino Rampage: Argyle is a humanoid rhinoceros in Powered Armor.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: Argyle is surprisingly soft-spoken which is clearly noticeable due to his teammates having No Indoor Voice.
    Ping

Ping

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ping_5.png

A strange glitch from an old arcade machine.

  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Once it gained enough momentum, it easily plowed through Mitch's max defense.
  • Boring, but Practical: This little thing can only be knocked back and forth, yet that did not stop it from causing more damage than any other glitch.
  • From Bad to Worse: Putting it through a looping portal was not a good idea. Not only did it fail to contain the Glitch but it also gave it a massive momentum boost and directed it toward the nearest powerplant.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: It started its rampage because Five hit too hard during due to his anger.
  • Outside-Context Problem: The game is so old that there's nothing the gauntlet could do counter it.
    Cakey Von Smasher

Cakey Von Smasher

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cakeyvonsmasher.png
I'm gonna smash your HECTOR!

A broken animatronic corrupted by a glitch.

  • Advancing Boss of Doom: Miko and Five spend most of the time but avoiding her while trying to find a way to defeat her, in her episode.
  • Implacable Man: Her goal is to hunt down Hector "Five" Nueves and she will not stop at nothing until she fulfills that mission, no matter how much hiding and running her targets do.
  • Broken Record: "I'M GONNA SMASH YOUR *HECTOR*!"
  • Outside-Context Problem: The Glitch Tech gauntlets are only prepared to fight virtual glitches and as such they are unable to affect physical foes.
    B.U.D.S.

B.U.D.S.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/buds.png
Click here to see the clones
'Let's be buds!'

A copycat glitch that Mitch failed to fully contain and managed to hitch a ride to Hinobi HQ.

  • Affably Evil: It acts all nice and helpful as Clone Mitch but the moment Miko doesn't buy its act, it attacks her without hesitation.
  • Capture and Replicate: Its main goal.
  • Combat Tentacles: Its main mode of attacking.
  • From a Single Cell: The reason this thing is so hard to take down is because of its extreme healing factor. In fact the only reason it managed to infiltrate Glitch Techs in the first place is because a small piece managed to escape Mitch.
  • Funwith Acronyms: Burrying Underground Doppleganger Squad.
  • Glamour Failure: The hats the clones wear  keep them from revealing their true form. Knock off the hats and they reveal themselves to be one eyed tentacles.
  • Near-Villain Victory: It almost took down the entire Bailey Branch, had Five not figured it out.
  • No Name Given: B.U.D.S. is the name of the game, not the monster.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Mitch doesn't treat it as a threat when he first combats it. It comes back to bite him hard.
