After looking at Playing With, the adults play the trope straight while the teen heroes are a Defied Trope example due to the decision to expose the secret conspiracy to the world.

* ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'': [[BigGood Ozpin]] leads a secret cabal of Huntsmen within and allied to the four great Huntsman Academies to hide the true history of Remnant, the AncientEvil they're fighting, and the four divine Relics they're protecting. They maintain secrecy out of fear of global panic should the AwfulTruth ever be revealed, which would trigger [[DeathWorld hordes of Grimm]] to assault the last remaining bastions of human civilisation. However, with Ozpin keeping secrets from even his inner circle and several of his allies pursuing their own vested interests, Teams RWBY and JNPR find themselves increasingly at odds with adult old guard and eventually take matters into their own hands to fight the BigBad on their terms instead.

Cleaning up the entry and rewriting it to accommodate some of the relevant information from the previous entry in a played straight example.

There isn't a deconstruction of this trope going on. As the trope description says, played straight examples don't have to be perfect bastions of good, and they can even be antagonists.

[[DeconstructedTrope This gets deconstructed as the series goes on however]], as it becomes increasingly evident that the conspiracy is fatally flawed, due to its members constantly keeping secrets from each other, heavy infighting, lack of institutionalized power, and of having essentially un-elected officials holding power with no real means of checking them start to pile up. In Volume 8, [[spoiler:after Salem has already abandoned secrecy herself, Ruby realizes that they've gone past the point of no return and decides to send a worldwide broadcast, exposing her and ending the conspiracy.]]
** Further deconstructing it is how the story makes it clear that the conspiracy puts Ozpin on a pedestal, which means that not only is there no one who is willing to hold Ozpin accountable and recognize the flaws in his plans (with the exception of [[KnightTemplar Ironwood]], who possesses many of the same flaws), his death at the end of Volume 3 and [[{{Reincarnation}} subsequent revival]] ends up leaving them leaderless and falling back into their own [[FatalFlaw personal failings]].

* The Speedwagon Foundation in ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'' seems to have influence that goes beyond what's typically legal. Every time the protagonists run into some sort of trouble with the law, they just need to make a single phone call, and everything's fine. As the law and legal system aren't really equipped to prosecute murderers with supernatural power that are InvisibleToNormals, this is arguably necessary.

This being Franchise/StarWars, of course, one planet's government is small potatoes compared to TheEmpire, and the threat of Imperial reprisal is why they keep this under wraps. Leia herself, initially kept ignorant in the hope that that will save her if things go wrong, continually tries to discover more [[JumpedAtTheCall so she can help]], sometimes causing trouble in the process, until eventually she's looped in.

Mr. Verres has stated the reason for this is if people knew that magic existed, and that they could learn it themselves, then dangerous people will get magic too; people that you ''really'' don't want to give superpowers to. [[spoiler:As it turns out, unknown to even the majority who do know of magic, Magic itself wants to keep itself mostly hidden, with only a few people knowing about it.
