YMMV / Reaction & Review

  • Anti-Climax Boss: The penultimate film Emer covered in 2011 was Birdemic, which at the time was the worst film he ever saw. The final film was Soul Plane, and while Emer deemed it poor, it wasn't outright trashed like he did to Birdemic.
  • Arc Fatigue: His four-episode miniseries "Summer in the Asylum" (covering mockbusters from The Asylum) seemed to suffer from this a bit, not in the quality of the episodes but in Emer's demeanor. By the time he got to Snakes on a Train, he seemed exhausted and fed up with watching the horrible knockoffs for the better part of two weeks.
  • Archive Panic: 625 episodes that run around 20 minutes long, on average. Have fun.
  • Cry for the Devil: During his review of Downfall, Emer seemed openly shocked that he feels sympathy for Adolf Hitler while watching the movie.
  • Drinking Game: Emer suggested making one out of Gladiformers where the viewer takes a shot every time a character mentions the "God Bots". He guaranteed that anyone who plays that game would be drunk off their ass within 20 minutes.
    • He had also dared the viewer to take a shot anyone says the word "fool" in Dark Cat. Which is ludicrously often.
  • Ending Fatigue: Emer experienced this in Elf Bowling only a third of the way in. He sees Santa defeat Dingle in a game of Elf Bowling, and laments that there's still an hour left of runtime.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Emer noting how dark Death to Smoochy is when Robin Williams' character attempts suicide.
    • The first thing he said after watching The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure? "I wish I was dead!"
    • At the end of his Bottom 5 Reaction & Review Movies of 2016 video, he talks about how he hopes most of the films he sees in 2017 will end up being good, going as far as to say that he hopes that he won't even have a Bottom 5 list by the end of it... he ended up passing away that same year due to sepsis and a hernia for those who are unaware.
    • His multiple tangents and rants against Channel Awesome suddenly attained much more support in the wake of the April 2018 Not So Awesome debacle, where various TGWTG creators spoke up against the Walker brothers and Mike Michaud for their poor handling of the company and treatment towards the other creators. As various commenters pointed out in his Kickassia review, the (one-sided) feud between Doug Walker and Emer ended in Emer's favor, posthumously.
  • Hype Aversion: Emer announced many times that he hated hype. In most cases, he would refuse a movie because of it. In 2015, Emer announced that any movie that gains maximum hype is banned for six months until the hype dies off (in which case no one asks him to review it anymore, thus he wouldn't need to review it).
  • Hype Backlash: When Emer did break down and review a movie that he felt has been "overhyped", this was usually the result. According to him, no movie is ever as good or as bad as all the hype makes it out to be.
  • It's Popular, Now It Sucks!: Either played straight or inverted. A majority of the movies he liked are declared bad by the general public, while the majority of the movies he hated are declared good by the general public. Because of this, people accused him of contrarianism.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: After panning The Wizard of Gore, he stated outright that the only reason why he was going to watch The Gore Gore Girls apart from it being in a two-pack with the former is because it featured a "death by french fries".
  • Nightmare Fuel: Emer found the costume design for The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, and Thing 2 to be terrifying.
"That is makeup that nightmares are made of."
    • If Emer was pissed enough, he could be pretty damned scary. Here's a couple quotes of his:
"To all the people over at Film School Rejects and Bloody Disgusting who said that ignorant pigshit so that they could put it on the back of this case, fuck you all!! You don't know SHIT about films!!"
"I just wanna make this point abundantly clear, guys. There is going to come a day where I'm gonna have the money to go to Brazil. First thing I'm gonna do is find the headquarters of the studio that made this motherfuckin' thing note ... I'm gonna burn the cocksucker to the fuckin' GROUND!"
  • Rooting for the Empire: He openly admitted he was rooting for the ship to beat the badly-written, unsympathetic protagonists in Event Horizon. This was also the same case with several other films, as he found the Alien Bong to be the only likable character in Evil Bong 3, and simply wanted the aliens to destroy the human race in Battleship.
  • Tear Jerker:
