Boyfriend, being the Fearless Fool he is, tried to rap battle Hypno.
The title says all.
  • Well, we know that Boyfriend is an idiot in canon. When a 19-year-old blue-haired kid who dropped out of college because he read comic books in the library all day challenges a 5'03" tall (maybe taller) Psychic Pokémon with a Hypno Pendulum to a singing battle, what do you think is gonna happen?

Hypno thinks that he hypnotised Boyfriend and kidnapped him.
But Boyfriend actually managed to resist the hypnosis...he's just really so naturally stupid that he'll follow a random creature into the woods that tried to Mind Rape him on his own free will.

Jossed. Lost Cause shows him with Mind-Control Eyes.

Who will you be playing as in “Cheated”

While it has been determined that Cheated’s opponent is Steven from Strangled Red, thanks to the title being a reference to one of his signature lines, “In a world that cheated me… why should I play fair?”, and his sprites being fought in the files, it hasn’t been determined who you’ll be playing as. I have a couple ideas.

  • Red: The player character’s vocals sound incredibly similar to Red’s vocals in “Frostbite”. Additionally, Steven kills Red in the chronological sequel and the first story he appeared in, “Strangled”.

  • Gold: Similar to Red, Gold also faces off with Steven in the third story Steven appears in, “Door’s Open”, even acting as the reason Gold is in his predicament in “Lost Silver.”

  • Mike: Steven’s brother. He accidentally killed Miki, so Mike singing for his life would make sense as the context for this duel.
    • Confirmed.

The scene in the trailer of Girlfriend slapping Boyfriend is for Lost Cause.
It's been confirmed that Girlfriend is hypnotized at the end of Left Unchecked, and that Boyfriend was caught before. Presumably they've been brought into Hypno's cave, like in the creepypasta game. The trailer uses Lost Cause as the music and has the music intensify with Hypno's head appearing from a cave door, the same cave there appears (albeit blurry) in the slapping scene. If I have to guess Girlfriend slapping Boyfriend is during the start of the song, during Girlfriend's solo, until Hypno appears where Girlfriend takes full focus into fending off the Pokemon.
  • Confirmed, if you look into the corner of the screen during that part of the trailer, it says “Lost Cause”.

What the items in the Shop mean.

As shown in this interview the shady man from V1 at the start of Monochrome will have a shop that you can buy and sell from, with the buy option introducing 9 items. Presumably, like the game cartridge in V1, when you buy them a new song becomes available.

  • Broken Note
    • Gold: Mainly because of Celebi's Perish Song.
    • DISABLED: "She can't sing" is one of the main parts of DISABLED's story.
      • Confirmed.

  • Broken Disc
    • TMTRAINER (not leaked): The disc shown could be a TM, and since it's smashed it'd make sense for the attack of it to be glitchy.
      • Jossed. It’s for Shinto.

  • Gameboy
    • Missing No: Missing No themselves is most famous for their appearance in Red & Blue for the Gameboy, it only makes sense. The description of the Gameboy of it making annoying sounds, sounds pretty glitchy to me.
    • Buried Alive: As seen in teasers and leaks, Brimstone will have a section where the colour scheme becomes the greens of a Gameboy screen.
      • Both Jossed. It’s for Glitchy Red.

  • Blue Candle
    • Unknown, as buying it doesn’t seem to do anything.
      • According to an artist, it would've let you interact with the Pokécenter, leading to Purin.

  • Demonic Mail
    • Hell's Bell
      • Confirmed.

  • Red Thing(?)
    • Lord X & MX: The red item could be a set of UNO cards, and with the description of "even monsters need some time to relax" it doesn't specify Pokemon.
    • Confirmed.

  • Ho-Oh Painting
    • Prediction Jossed. It seems to be the cartridge for Pokémon: Strangled Red, as buying it unlocks Dissension.

  • Lugia Painting
    • Prediction Jossed. It’s a Pokémon Silver cartridge, as it unlocks the Lost Silver week.

  • Slowpoke(?)
    • Turns out to be something belong to Alexis, as buying it unlocks Bygone Purpose.

Hypno died after Lost Cause.
Hypno overexerted himself so bad that he destroyed his body trying to hypnotize her again and killed himself. His head charging toward GF wasn't to attack her, but give her his last words. Bygone Purpose was him telling her the story of why he became like he did.

Gold dies in Frostbite, Boyfriend dies in Insomnia, and Monochrome is their purgatory.
At the end of Frostbite Gold is killed by Pikachu, and as shown by an artist at the end of Insomnia Boyfriend would've been killed by Feraligatr. In the cutscene before Monochrome the POV is shown falling into the square that the end of Lost Silver, and presumably Monochrome, would take place. The POV is Boyfriend, and he's falling into the square the same way as Gold did in Lost Silver.

Silver's insanity is due to Missingno

He ended up encountering Missingno in an attempt to fight some Kanto gym leaders. He lost in a battle to Missingno, who used Super Glitch, warping him and Feraligatr's bodies, and whatever the move looked like broke his mind, reducing him to the shrieking madman we see now.

It’s large red eyes are similar to those the Unown possess in the mod, and it’s monochrome color scheme and Body Horror are incredibly similar to Gold’s, another person possessed by the Unown.

Frostbite is not a rap battle against Red. It's a rap battle against Freakachu.

Red seems to be completely dead- he's in much worse condition than Blake, relatively speaking, and wobbles in his idle pose- as if he'd fall over in the wind, but his foot is frozen to the ground. It might be possible that whatever allows Freakachu to present the illusion that he's completely fine also allows him to animate Red, and make him rap as a proxy for the creature. This is supported by the freeplay icon- which depicts Freakachu behind him, at shoulder level as if it were a shoulder devil, telling him what to do.

Well, at least everyone who's not already dead, undead, or Hypno. Hypno gives up after Girlfriend rocks his socks off, falling apart after telling her his past (Bygone Purpose). So Boyfriend is freed and decides to rap battle a bunch of creepypastas.

One of the new songs in the next update will be against one of BF's allies.

But not as BF knows them. It's definitely possible given the Unown and Gold, plus it would make for an awesome rap battle to see BF against GF or Pico.

Possible upcoming opponents

  • The Dead Regi Trio (Regirode, Regimelt and Regirust)
  • The Unown King. It was planned for V3 before it got cancelled, so it’d just make sense. It could be a final song unlocked upon beating all the others.
  • Ghost. Not the one from Pokémon: Creepy Black, however, but rather the one from Come Follow Me. Could also serve as a way to represent Lavender Town Syndrome in general.
  • The unused characters planned for future versions. With the mod Uncancelled, it’s a perfect opportunity to bring them back in.
