While Jackal and cloning go hand-in-hand like peanut butter and jelly, the Gwen Stacy back-up at the end of the mini's first issue seems to hint that the person behind the mask isn't Miles Warren, especially since we see Miles Warren in the main story and he's in a panic. The fact that those who have been resurrected have been people Spidey failed to rescue in some manner, it seems more than obvious that only Osborn would be demented enough to pull such a scheme with Peter in mind. As well, he was the ultimate mastermind of the original Clone Saga, so...
- Jossed. It's Ben Reilly.
And it will hold the conscience of Octavius from when he was the Superior Spider-Man. Either Ock will have another heel-face turn (albeit a more selfish one as he realises Anna Marconi could never love him for who he really is) and works with Jackal on a clone of Peter Parker as a new body for Otto, or the two versions of Ock are separate entities and will fight against one another. A third option is that Doc. Ock dies once more during the saga and the Superior Spider-Man body is a contingency plan.
- OP here to say the third option was sort of kind of confirmed. ASM #25 has a story showing Ock having stolen the proto clone which has both his and Spidey's DNA, and he has now become the Superior Octopus, working as a part of Hydra.
His main priority besides the cellular degeneration plague is the well being of his old teammates in the New Warriors, especially Hummingbird. Though Nova more than likely won't rejoin due to his role in the Champions Kaine might manage to mobilize the rest of the team by the end of the event.
Given the shock revelations behind the identity of The Jackal and the multi-verse elements being used in the storyline, it is entirely possible that the New U tech could be used to eventually resurrect every Spider-Character killed by The Inheritors in the 2014/2015 "Spider-Verse" event (including MC 2 Peter Parker). Whether it is the will of The Jackal or Peter giving in to further temptation and releive himself of the far reaching cosmic bloodshed is up for debate, although Slott has said lately that Spider-Gwen and Kaine's mission is the "extent" of the Spider-Verse involvement, he could easily be misleading the fanbase.
