SHUFFLE! Episode 2 is a H-Game Visual Novel and the sequel of Navel's SHUFFLE!, released on May 29, 2020, for PC only. The core staff for the original Visual Novel returns (except for series creator AgoBarrier, who unfortunately passed away in 2016). Based on an original script by the original creator, it features brand new characters in the same setting of the three connected worlds of the Humans, Gods, and Devils.
Forty years after SHUFFLE!, a crisis threatened to rip apart all the worlds, known as The Great Collapse, but was averted thanks to some people from the three worlds who together stopped The End of the World as We Know It. But even after that, life continued as monotone as before, and the relations between the three worlds progressed and became commonplace.
Sixty years later, we meet our protagonist Raito Aioi, who lives with her cousin, Kohaku Anjou, it was a regular day at the start of Summer...until two beautiful girls arrived on his life, and they declared:
"I came here to separate gods and humans.", "I'll take your life."
How Raito will spend the rest of his oncoming "SHUFFLE!"?
Similar to its predecessor, the visual novel would later get a spin-off game titled Princess x Princess, released on August 27, 2021.
SHUFFLE! Episode 2 provides examples of the following:
- The Ace: Kohaku excels in academics and athletics, and has a good personality on top of that. But at home, it's another issue.
- Demoted to Extra: Primula is the only character from SHUFFLE! to return in the main game. The other characters had to wait for spin-offs.
- Does Not Like Men: Carnelian ("Nelia") has a distaste for humans.
- Emotionless Girl: Limes. Just as her mother Primula before her.
- From Roommates to Romance: Raito lives with his older cousin, Kohaku Anjou, who can get together with him if her route is chose.
- Generation Xerox:
- Lithia is just like her great-aunt, Lisianthus ("Sia").
- Nelia looks like Nerine, though it's not confirmed if they're supposed to be relatives.
- Taken literally with Limes, due to being created by Primula splitting her powers, Primula explicitly refers to Limes as her daughter.
- Manipulative Bitch: On the outside, Nelia is a perfectionist and a honor student, but she likes seducing human men only to dump them at the end. Then she meets Raito and her plan backfires, falling for him instead. However, she would not admit it.
- Power Incontinence: The events of the Great Collapse resulted in Primula becoming even more stronger than she was before, resulting in her having a serious crisis (similar to what happened to Asa in the SHUFFLE! Anime), so she reduced her power by separating her being and magic into a new individual, Limes.
- Really 700 Years Old: Primula, listed as 116 years old in the website.
- Theme Naming: The protagonist, the heroines, and the newly introduced side characters have names relating to rocks, minerals and/or gemstones in some way.
- Time Skip: Set a century after the events of SHUFFLE!.
