Danganronpa Another ~Another Despair Academy~ (단간론파 어나더 ~또 하나의 절망학원~ Danganronpa Eonadeo ~Tto Hanaui Jeolmang Hagwon~), better known as Danganronpa Another or DRA, is a Danganronpa Fan Game created by South Korean game developer LINUJ.

The first complete chapter was released on January 6, 2013 and the full game was completed and released on June 11, 2015. LINUJ later released a sequel titled Super Danganronpa Another 2, which was completed in early 2020. The English translation for the first chapter was done in 2020 by TempAccounts, while rest of the chapters were finished in 2022 by Zephirum with download links available in the video descriptions although the latter is a work in progress with much of the unessential text left untranslated as of yet.

Danganronpa Another provides examples of:

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: During the investigation of the 6th chapter, Monokuma is revealed to have been a fully functioning A.I. based on Junko Enoshima's personality.
  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: The mysterious cult figure "Utsuro" unleashes a full scale assault on the Kisaragi Foundation using his army of Monokumas.
  • Art Evolution: The sprites, CGs and executions were gradually updated with improved artwork later in development.
  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: The victims and killer of Chapter 3 follow this trope, with Kakeru as the Big, Kanata as the Short, and Kinji as the Thin.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: If you're familiar with the sequel, then you know that the murders and executions are bloodier and more twisted than the canon games.
  • Breaking Old Trends: In regards to the canon games:
  • Call-Back: Just like its canon counterpart, the story takes place within Hope's Peak Academy.
    • The first case has the signs to two of the dorms being switched come up as a major clue. Although in this game, the signs being switched was an accident.
    • Pertaining to the first case, it also involves a male athlete killing a girl and leaving her body in a bathroom while using his talent during the murder scheme.
    • Although the chapter differs, one of the female victims leaves a message to the students about her killer using her blood, although she changes the message when someone else comes in to finish the job.
    • The third case is a double murder scenario, with one of the "victims" being drenched in fresh blood in order to throw off the others.
    • In Chapter 4, Monokuma's cuts off their food supply and won't give them anything to eat until someone commits murder. Likewise, the killer and the victim both agree to duel each other to the death in order to save the group.
    • For the Chapter 5 case, the students are faced with a murder that results in another student being framed for the crime. And before they can get all the answers, Monokuma decides to cut the trial short to have them executed. During their execution, an outside force interrupts the procession before the student can be brutally killed.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: The real Yuki Maeda, who turns up as a major character in the second game.
  • The Corpse Stops Here: How Chapter 5's case is set up: Mikako is found, her clothes bloodied, standing over Yamato's corpse with a knife in her hand. Despite Monokuma himself having killed Yamato, Mikako is executed anyway.
  • Creator Provincialism: Averted. Although made by a Korean developer, there is not a single Korean character in the cast.
  • Double Agent: The final trial reveals that Akane and her superior "Utsuro" were able to infiltrate the 79th class undetected so they could carry out Junko Enoshima's tests for the perfect killing game.
  • Faking the Dead: During the final trial, it is revealed that the 79th class of Hope's Peak was purposefully declared as deceased as a means of protecting them from the events of The Tragedy.
  • Fanservice: As expected of a Danganronpa game, there is a scene that features a majority of the girls bathing together.
  • Hidden Purpose Test: The reason as to why the 79th class experienced the killing game was because Junko Enoshima wanted to test out the dynamics of the killing game with as little interference as possible. Once the test was completed and the errors fixed, she would then proceed to throw her own class into a finalized, and perfect killing game. However, this is actually subverted, as the epilogue shows Junko's main motivation for this was because she wanted to get rid of Utsuro, as the guaranteed success that his luck provides would make things too easy for her.
  • High-School Dance: One of the chapters features the students dancing in a ballroom setting, complete with each of them having their own formal attire.
  • How We Got Here: During the 6th trial, as Yuki's inability to remember his true identity reaches its climax, the story shifts to the past as to how Yamato was able to organize the escape of his classmates during The Tragedy along with "Utsuro" and Akane preparing to kickstart their takeover.
  • Love Hurts: In Chapter 4, the victim Haruhiko reveals to Satsuki, his designated killer, that they used to be lovers before having their memories erased.
  • Perspective Flip: The final trial has Utsuro, now revealed to be Yuki's true identity, shooting despair bullets at the survivors to shoot down their arguments. It's thanks to the intervention of Yamato's alter ego that they manage to fight back.
  • Recurring Element: As expected for a DR game, most of the students follow a familiar archetype.
    • Yuki is the Average Joe protagonist with a talent pertaining to luck.
    • Kanata is the Token Mini-Moe of the group.
    • Kakeru is the largest student among his peers.
    • Kinji is the killer of Chapter 3 who is revealed to have a darker personality that shocks everyone. Although his motive is at least much more reasonable and sympathetic unlike the canon third case killers. Also unlike third case killers, he is very regretful for the murders he committed, whereas the canon Chapter 3 killers are unremorseful.
    • Mikako is the designated 'Magical Weirdo'.
    • Rei is the aloof, arrogant student who comes from an influential background.
  • Solemn Ending Theme: Unlike the canon Danganronpa games, which have rather upbeat-sounding credits themes, Another's credits theme is the morose "I believe" by KOKIA.
  • Stealth Prequel: The ending reveals that the game takes place right before Trigger Happy Havoc's killing game.
  • Tomato in the Mirror: The Big Bad of the Killing Game is revealed to be Yuki Maeda whose real name is Utsuro, a member of Ultimate Despair. Likewise, Akane is also revealed to be a member of Ultimate Despair working under Utsuro.
