BedWars is a game made by the group Easy.gg on Roblox based on popular Minecraft mod of the same name. Much like the original SkyWars, the main game involves multiple teams defending their beds from other teams while destroying other beds to prevent them from respawning, and can use various materials to craft blocks, weapons and armor, and can even purchase upgrades. The last team standing wins the game.

You can play the game here.

Tropes:

  • All There in the Manual: You're unlikely to know about the NPCs' names unless you play the game BedWars was based on: Islands.
  • Anti-Frustration Features: Should a Telepearl hit the side of a island instead of the top, the player who threw it instead teleports to the top of the island, preventing a death via teleporting to the wrong place. Additionally, should a Telepearl fall into the void, the player will not be teleported into the void, preventing a instant death.
  • Awesome, but Impractical:
    • The Emerald Armor and Sword are downplayed examples. By the time you've obtained them, you're already likely to be in the endgame where all beds have been broken, and they cost a massive amount of emeralds to obtain, though the Emerald Sword is a even bigger example, since if you die, you downright lose it. At least you can keep the Emerald Armor in case you die...
    • Ceramic Blocks. Sure, they protect the surrounding area from TNT, but unless you brought Team Generator upgrades, you're unlikely to protect the entire area with a surprisingly high cost. The cost was later reduced in a update, though its durability is a major issue.
    • Obsidian is basically a much more durable version of Ceramic Blocks. Too bad they require Emeralds to purchase them, and unless you brought a class that allows for easy farming of emeralds and Tier 3 Generator Upgrade, you're unlikely to even purchase it.
    • The Eldertree kit has the ability to absorb tree orbs to not just grow in size, but also gain huge amounts of HP in the process in exchange for armor. Consuming too many, however, results in a huge player that is not able to fit into their bases and thus a very wide target, but also unable to even get items from generators. While this isn't too much of an issue in maps with open spaces and fewer players, on maps with less open spaces and more players, this makes it more trouble than its' worth.
    • The Giant Potion. Good news: Using this makes you big. Bad news: Unlike the Elder Tree, you health doesn't scale with it at all, making you a walking target.
  • Boring, but Practical: Various kits and utilities happen to be very useful at a very cheap cost:
    • Wool. Easy to create at a mere cost of 8 iron, and happens to be essential for not being totally curb-stomped while necessary to create paths.
    • Axes. Aside from dealing additional damage to Wood, it also deals major damage against Beds, making them essential for attacks.
    • Bows. While they deal miniscule damage, the knockback is the major draw of it, as it can throw a player walking on a thin path off, granting a cheap kill, and the arrows required for it are cheap at 16 iron.
    • The Farmer has the ability to place down seeds that grown into Diamonds and Emerald. While Diamonds are normally easily accessible, Emeralds are very hard to come by due to the rate at when they spawn, and it helps that the cost for the Emerald Seeds are somewhat cheap at 3 Emeralds. With the Tier 3 Team Generator Upgrade, this can essentially create a garden consisting of Emeralds.
    • The Builder has the ability to fortify various blocks at the expense of a few iron (unless it's Obsidian, in which case, 2 Emeralds are used instead), making them harder to break through aside from using TNT. A later Balance Buff made the fortified blocks immune to TNT, making the Builder necessary for defensive tactics, while forcing enemies to buy Break Speed and higher tier breaking tools such as Shears.
    • The Baker has the ability to produce Health Apples and Speed Pies. Health Apples happen to be the only source of healing in the game aside from the Guitar, and Speed Pies can be used to either perform a quick getaway or reaching an objective fast.
    • The Warrior's sole feature is a discount on Armor. Considering that armor helps reduce damage, this can allow Warriors to get armor much earlier, and they even have a unique armor exclusive to them that's nearly defensive as Emerald Armor, this ability is much more useful than it sounds.
  • Bow and Sword in Accord: Buying a bow will inevitably lead to this trope.
  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Penguins in Penguin Survival are able to place blocks at an alarming rate. Additionally, smaller penguins have the ability to fit into smaller tunnels of blocks in Penguin Survival, yet the players cannot due to them being as tall as two blocks.
  • Death or Glory Attack: Early-game rushes, which involve a LOT of wool and charging relentlessly at the enemy. Succeed, and you've knocked out an entire team out for the rest of the game. Fail, and your team is vulnerable to their early-game rush.
  • Difficult, but Awesome:
    • Telepearls. Seemingly simple at first glance, these tools are single use, and you can exchange two Emeralds for one of them. With proper usage, you can downright ambush an enemy team and either destroy their bed or knock them out.
    • Ziplines are slightly more expensive than Telepearls, and unlike them, can be destroyed. Proper usage of it, however, essentially makes it a very easy route to critical locations, such as beds or resource spawners, especially Emeralds and Diamonds.
    • TNT. Can absolutely shred through blocks with ease combined with a pack of them, though the high iron cost means that you have to make it count. Pirate Davey is a even bigger example (though not to the point of impracticality), as they have to aim their cannon while having to avoid arrows, but a well-placed cannon shot will absolutely blow away both players and blocks.
    • Beekeeper Beatrice. Her beehives are one of the most reliable sources of Emeralds, with the Farmer being second only in terms of Emerald spawning, but the bees are placed around maps. Successfully finding and keeping bees are vital towards Beatrice's gameplay.
  • Game-Breaking Bug: Inevitable in a game that's currently in a beta state, though some are still glaringly obvious:
    • It's possible for the sword swings to be downright delayed for absolutely no reason, resulting in various situations in which another player defeats another one due to this bug. This has since been fixed.
    • Ziplines are not very stable, as sometimes, they can downright fling the player. Best hope you didn't carry any valuables while riding it! This bug was probably why it was removed later on.
    • For some reason, "Travel X Blocks with Telepearls" weekly objective is achievable, the daily objective for is not because a bug prevents the game from tracking your distance while travelling with telepearls for daily objectives. Fortunately, this has also been fixed.
  • Gathering Steam: The Barbarian gains access to more powerful weapons as they get kills.
  • Glass Cannon: Aery has a minor HP reduction to 90, but with enough kills, she can easily take a chunk off of players' health with a wooden sword.
  • Hitbox Dissonance: For some reason, it's possible for a sword to downright miss even in point-blank range against another player.
  • Lethal Joke Item: The Knockback Baguette. It's a piece of bread that does low damage, but insane knockback. This is surprisingly useful due to the fact that you can just simply push an enemy off a cliff and watch in sheer hilarity of the utility of a baguette.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Downplayed for the Archer. While they can still equip swords, their damage with bows are increased, and have exclusive access to the Tactical Crossbow.
  • Luck-Based Mission: Lucky Block. Either you get an insanely overpowered item throughout the game and give your team a massive advantage, or get brutalized by other teams who have better drops from Lucky Blocks.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: The Infernal Shielder has access to a Shield. While it slows down their movement when equipped, it reduces damage by half, and prevents knockback from ranged weapons.
  • Magic Music: The Melody can heal other players with a ukulele.
  • Nerf: Due to Crossbows being very overpowered, especially the Archer, they have received various nerfs, such as their damage decreasing alongside the reduced amounts of the damage buff towards ranged weapons, and making both the Crossbow and Tactical Crossbow more expensive, meaning that they can't simply start firing powerful arrows after the second round of Emerald Spawns. Additionally, the Tactical Crossbow no longer does knockback.
  • Obvious Rule Patch:
    • It was possible to stack both raven's poison damage and fire damage together, making for a deadly 2HKO combination. Not only both of them no longer stack, but also fire damaged was nerfed as well.
    • Previously, kits with abilities that allow them to leap across a great distance still can use Telepearls, making them very annoying when they could simply hunt down a player, rush, then use their leaping ability, then use the telepearl to get out. This is no longer the case as of the March 11, 2022 update, which removed their ability to use telepearls.
  • Power-Up Food: The Baker can produce various consumables that restore health and temporarily increase speed.
  • Power Up Mount: The Dodo Bird can serve as this, granting its rider increased speed and ability to Double Jump.
  • Songs in the Key of Panic: Around the seven minute mark in Penguin Survival, In the Hall of the Mountain King starts playing, which is also when the Penguins start to become faster.
  • Take That, Audience!: One of the titles you can obtain in the first Season Pass are called "Bow Spammer" and "Camper" respectively, a nod on how nigh-infamous bows are for their knockback, and how players tend to fish for kills and probably resources by choosing a spot where they can get easy kills without retaliation.
  • Unexpected Gameplay Change: Skywars, which instead of having your teammates defend a bed while going for other beds, has you loot chests to defeat other players.
