aka: Cars Of Fiction Ferrari

"The Ferrari is a dream. People dream of owning this special vehicle and for most, it will remain a dream apart from those lucky few."
Enzo Ferrari

Prestige, legacy and pride. That is what makes a Ferrari, a brand with a pedigree and distinction.

It's the dream car a character in fiction can ever get. These pinnacle Italian prancing horses from Maranello and Modena race across big and small screens, and would be the cultural icon all over the world, best representing someone with wealth, style and elegance, usually seen in the hands of the prestigious, the rich and the selected few.

Characters take pride and joy driving one, whether one takes a Ferrari with a girlfriend on scenic roads with her hair flowing by the speed of the wind, or one just keeps its timeless masterpiece as its prized possession, stored in either a museum or garage and bring its admirers. Typically, characters would like their cars in either its traditional Rosso Corsa or Giallo Modena color.

These Ferraris in fiction makes one character who owns one think they are better than everyone else.

    Ferrari 250 series

The Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder grand tourer (top) and the Ferrari 250 GTO (bottom), just two examples of the many grand tourer and racing cars of the 250 series.

"The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California. Less than 100 were made. My father spent three years restoring this car. It is his love, it is his passion."
Cameron Frye, Ferris Bueller's Day Off

The Ferrari 250 is a series of sports cars and grand tourers built by Ferrari from 1952 to 1964, considered the most successful line of the company's early history.

Throughout its production timeline, there have been numerous 250 variants, intended for both road use or sports car racing. All of them are characterized by their use of a 3.0 L Colombo V12 engine, named after its designer Gioacchino Colombo.

The car is also known for its role in unwittingly leading to the birth of one of Ferrari's rivals. A tractor manufacturer who bought a Ferrari 250 expressed his frustration about frequent clutch problems in it, and his dissatisfaction with Enzo Ferrari's response to his complaints was key to his decision to make his own cars. That tractor manufacturer was Ferruccio Lamborghini, who would go on found the Italian manufacturer of luxury sports cars that bears his name, even hiring ex-Ferrari engineers to design and develop them.

  • This Ferrari is Jack Gable's Cool Car where he goes Blind Driving with Laura in Delirious.
  • A 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Spyder California is prominently featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It is the prized posession of the father of Ferris's friend Cameron, and the titular character is pleased to take the car for a little spin around Chicago, much to Cameron's dismay. The car featured in the film is actually a fiberglass replica built on a custom chassis, though a real one was used for extreme closeups at the beginning. Today, a real version would cost upwards of $10 million, almost the entire budget in 1986 dollars.
  • A 1960 Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet is The Phantom's car in The Pink Panther (1963).
  • Arthur Shaw's prized 250 GT Lusso in Tower Heist plays a major role in the movie. Concealed in this Cool Car is its body panels made of gold, which is worth a hefty fortune. Josh and his henchmen attempt to break into Shaw's apartment and steal the car for profit as payback for the Ponzi scheme. Considering that the film features Ferris Bueller himself, Matthew Broderick, this may have been an intentional Shout-Out.
  • Remember the part where Tom Cruise's character in Vanilla Sky drove the Ferrari 250 GTO in the movie? Except it's not. It's essentially a Datsun 260Z disguised as one.
  • One of Elvis Presley's magnum opuses Viva Las Vegas!, has him play the Crazy Jealous Guy Lucky, battling against a suave rival racer, Count Elmo Mancini, in his Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta during the climactic Epic Race.

Based on the Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, the DLC-exclusive Joe's Adventures included this beautiful looking super sports car, the "Delizia Grandeamerica", the first and only Italian car that when fully-tuned, can blast at nearly 300 km/h. Though achieving the top speed maybe impossible, even when trying to do that on the Grand Upper Bridge (Brooklyn Bridge) with no traffic.
    • The Definitive Edition instead uses the beta version car, which was based on the 410 Superamerica.

  • The 250 GTO in OutRun 2 is one of the few closed-cockpit coupes in the game, and can go 12 mph faster than in Real Life.
  • This old but gold rare supercar has this 250 GTO playable in Project Gotham Racing 2 which is considered to be one of the best (and fastest) cars in the Classic category. It later returns in 4 as one of the Difficult, but Awesome to use E-class car.
  • The 250 GTO appears in both Test Drive Unlimited games. And with a $5,000,000 price tag, it's the most expensive car in the game. Ever.

Ferrari 308 GTB/GTS and later derivatives
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ferrari_308.jpg

"It's the very best example of a two-seater coupe that's both classy and aggressive. It's so close to perfect and has lasted so long it's now the shape of Ferrari itself, a design that could imprison creativity for years ahead."
Giorgette Giugiaro

The Ferrari 308 is a Pininfarina-designed V8 mid-engined two-seater sports car that was produced between 1975 to 1985, serving as the direct replacement to the Dino 246.

Like the Dino, there are two types of the 308; the berlinetta coupe as the 308 GTB and the targa top as the 308 GTS. The car is powered by an F106 AB V8 engine, producing 252 hp, with its bodywork built by Carrozzeria Scaglietti. To comply with emission regulation when The '80s began, Ferrari introduced a fuel injected-variant called the 308 GTBi/GTSi, though its power is dropped to 211 hp. Two years later, in 1982, Ferrari announced the 308 GTB/GTS Quattrovalvole, which indicated the engine has four valves per cylinder. Its power was brought up back to 240 hp, restoring the performance lost from emission control.

Ferrari also launched the 2-litre 208 GTB/GTS, intended for the local Italian market, which is regarded to be the slowest Ferrari ever made to some. To compensate it, in 1982, a turbocharged variant was introduced as the 208 GTB/GTS. It was the very first ever Ferrari production car to be ever turbocharged.

An exotic homologation of the 308 was introduced in 1984, as the Ferrari 288 GTO, succeeding the 250 GTO. Following the success of turbocharging in Formula One, it has prompted Ferrari to build a 3-litre road car, following the 208 Turbo. Using the same engine as from the 308 GTB, the 288 GTO features IHI twin-turbochargers, an intercooler and a power producing 395 hp. With top speeds of 189 mph (304 km/h), the 288 GTO was one of the fastest street-legal production cars of that time.

In 1985, the 308 GTB/GTS was replaced by the 328 GTB/GTS, an updated version that was based on the said 308 chassis, with one of the differences is that it's uprated to a 3.2 L engine and like the 208, it was also offered a turbocharged variant.

  • Both the 288 GTO and the 308 GTS Quattrovalvole show up as one of the few Ferrari classics in Test Drive Unlimited. The latter car returned in the sequel and was a frequent Driving Test car during the C3 Classic Racing School tests.

Top: Ferrari 348 TB
Bottom: Ferrari F355 Berlinetta

"Pinifarina and ourselves have done our best to make the F355 a truly usable car in which you can drive to the office as well as have fun on a race track or go for a holiday tour."
Luca Cordero di Montezemolo

Following the end of the 328 comes a new V8-powered sports car released before The '90s began.

The Ferrari 348 is a two-seater mid-engined sports car first produced in 1989, the last ever Ferrari model developed under the consent of the founder, Enzo Ferrari before his passing, where production commenced posthumously. This Pininfarina designed caar featues a naturally-aspirated 3.4 litre quad cam, 4-valve Tipo F119 V8 engine with it power output of 296 horsepower. It was the first ever Ferrari to feature a transeverse gearbox design, originally developed for the Ferrari 312T, a Formula One car from The '70s. The 348 is either offered in a coupé as the 348 TB (Trasversale Berlinetta) or the targa top as the 348 TS (Trasversale Spider), or hell, even a soft-top Spider. Distinguished with this car is its streaked side air intakes and rectangular taillights, which bears resemblance to the Testarossa.

Production ended in 1995, just to make way for the heavily revised Ferrari F355, with a smoother exterior body and uprated performance, as emphasized by the design. Its engine was increased to 3.5 litre, powering at 375 horsepower. Like the 348, the F355 was offered either as a berlinetta, a spider or a GTS targa-top. In 1997, Ferrari introduced an automated manual paddle-shift transmission. Any model with said transmission is now called the Ferrari F355 F1.

Both the 348 and the F355 were the forefathers of the one-make racing series, the Ferrari Challenge, initiated in 1993. The cars were equipped with new body kit, spoiler, roll-bar, racing slick tires and racing brakes.

The F355 stopped production in 1999 before it was succeeded by the Ferrari 360.

    Ferrari 360/F430
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ferrari_360_and_f430.jpg
Top: 360 Modena, Bottom: F430

"Actually, this is why it's called the F360, this model. You drive along and you go 'ffffffff' and you do a 360!"

Succeeding the F355 comes a modern V8 midship released within the Turn of the Millennium.

The Ferrari 360 is a two-seater mid-engined sports car first produced in 1999. Designed by Pininfarina, the 360 comes with a lightweight frame and fixed headlights, last seen from the 550 Maranello, F50 and the F512M. Its brand 3.6 L F131 V8 engine comes with a flat-plane crankshaft, and titanium connecting rods, producing 395 hp. The 360 was designated in three different body types; the 360 Modena, the 360 Spider and the special edition track-spec Challenge Stradale.

The 360 would stop production in 2004, when that same year announces the successor; the F430. Unveiled in the 2004 Paris Motor Show, the F430 is an updated, tweaked version of the 360, with improved aerodynamic efficiency and enhanced downforce. One of the notable differences is it uses the similar taillight designs from the Ferrari Enzo and its front bumper akin to the Formula One race cars of The '60s. It's new 4.3 L F136 V8 now produces about 100 hp more than the 360. A powerful variant called the 430 Scuderia was unveiled by seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher 3 years later, serving as the 360 Challenge Stradale's direct successor.

Both have been part of Ferrari's one-make racing series called the Ferrari Challenge, where both the 360 Modena and F430 were used extensively for track-oriented comeptition racing.

The F430 stopped production on May 2009 before it was succeeded by the Ferrari 458 Italia.

    Ferrari 458 Italia/488 GTB/F8 Tributo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ferrari_458_488_f8.jpg
Top: 458 Italia, Middle: 488 GTB, Bottom: F8 Tributo

"That's a plethora of mid-engine, V-8 Ferrari designs to keep straight, especially considering they're all the same car underneath and look pretty darn similar if you're not paid to pay attention."
Jonny Lieberman, MotorTrend

The Ferrari 458 Italia is a V8 powered mid-engined supercar first unveiled in 2009 as the successor to the F430. With its brand new design, it incorporated technologies developed from its Formula One cars. One notable distinction of the model is its 3 exhaust pipes, partly as a tribute/nod to the original F40. Alongside the California, it is one of the first Ferrari models to incorporate a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and the first not to offer a manual transmission.

The 458 was replaced by the 488 GTB in 2015, which is essentially an overhauled turbocharged version of the 458. That being said, it was the first V-8 mid-engined Ferrari since the F40 to come with a turbocharged engine. Its track-focused variant the 488 Pista (track in Italian) has modified mechanicals and exteriors, such as its signature front where air passes through the duct through the hood.

In 2019, the F8 Tributo succeeded the 488, utilizing the same engine as the 488 Pista. The F8 also uses the same body as the 488 albeit with minor exterior tweaks and its use of quad headlamps. The F8 would be discontinued in 2023 with no direct successor, marking the end of Ferrari's main mid-engine V8 line (Though the SF90 Stradale continues, this is a higher end model with all wheel drive and a hybrid powertrain unlike their main V8 models). The V8 line would be indirectly succeeded by the 296, which is a hybrid with a turbocharged V6 rather than a V8.

The 458 and 488 made an impression in the motorsports world, such as competitions in Ferrari Challenge, IMSA, GT3 and FIA WEC, with notable entrants like AF Corse and Risi Competizione saw lasting success, with numerous titles on their belt.

Franco: How's the bambina?
Smith: She's a-fulla gas, she's-a wait for you!
Franco: Hey, you make a good Italian!

The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 and GTS/4 is a two-seater sports tourer that was introduced at the 1968 Paris Auto Salon, intended to replace the 275 GTB/4.

It was originally named the 365, but due to media reports of Ferrari's recent 1-2-3 finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona on Februady 1967, it is unofficially referred to as the "Daytona". The car comes in two different variants; the berlinetta coupe as the 365 GTB/4 which 1,284 units were produced and the open top spider as the 365 GTS/4, which only had 122 units.

Like the 275, the Daytona uses a Colombo V12 engine, bored-out to 4.4 L producing 347 hp and 413 Nm of maximum torque. With a top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph), it was considered to be one of the fastest cars of The '60s, akin to compete with The Rival Lamborghini Miura. The bodyword was designed by Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina, the same designer who previously did the Dino 246, reflecting its transition from traditional round designs to Breaking Old Trends of having a more contemporary, sharp-edged look. The Daytona is also one of the first Ferraris to ever use pop-up headlamps.

The Daytona stopped production in 1973 and was succeeded by the mid-engined 365 Berlinetta Boxer (BB). Though the Daytona name would later be used 40 years later for the limited edition Ferrari Daytona SP3 in 2023, a modernized Retraux to the Le Mans winning 330 P4.

  • As a Shout-Out to the aforementioned Miami Vice, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has the Stinger, a clear replication of the 1968-1973 Ferrari Daytona Spyder. Tommy Vercetti was given this to go to the mall after leaving his estate in the "Shakedown" mission.
  • The 365 GTS/4 Daytona is one of the few novice-level starter cars in OutRun 2 (alongside the Dino 246 GTS).

    Ferrari Enzo Ferrari/FXX

"Named for the Italian automaker's founder, the Enzo Ferrari is Ferrari's "Race Car for the Road." Tremendously powerful, the Enzo Ferrari features highly efficient underbody tunnels, which create downforce to keep it glued to the road. Every blip of the throttle will make you a believer, the Enzo Ferrari is built for speed."
Gotham Sport Comment, Project Gotham Racing 3 & 4

The Ferrari Enzo or... Enzo Ferrari is a mid-engined sports car built from 2002-2004 and it's christened after the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari, serving as the successor of the Ferrari F50.

This Italian exotic was designed by Japanese designer, Ken Okuyama, who was the head of Pininfarina at that time. The Enzo uses a 6.0L F140 B V12 engine, boasting 650 horsepower. The Enzo is capable of reaching 360 km/h, making it the fastest Ferrari production car of that time. Being a limited-edition exotic, only 400 units were made throughout its 2 year run.

In 2005, Ferrari decided to use the Enzo in a small-scale program to get the most out of it for future car designs and racing programs. This is where the Enzo was made into a track-only car dubbed the Ferrari FXX. The FXX program continued until 2009, with it's newly improved FXX Evoluzione.

The Enzo was once populary owned by various Formula One drivers, especially those who drove for Ferrari at that time, such as Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen, Sebastian Vettel, and even seven time world champion Michael Schumacher, who used to not only own the Enzo, but even the non-street legal FXX.

Film — Live Action
  • One of the first to ever feature the Enzo is in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, seen being driven on the beach by Demi Moore's character.
  • This is one of Tej Parker's at the beginning of Fast & Furious 6, albeit an Enzo Ferrari, with a kit replicating the FXX.
  • The 2007 racing film Redline prominently features one in it's release poster and is even seen in the final race, being driven by female lead Natasha. She stops the car an inch away from the finish line, giving Brecken and his Saleen S7 the win.
Live-Action TV
  • Top Gear has featured both the Enzo and the FXX on several occassions:
    • Jeremy Clarkson reviewed the car in Season 5 Episode 2, particularly the unit owned by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason. While he praised it for it's speed, savage handling, power and excitement, stating to be a focused driver's car, he admitted that he prefers it's grandfather the F40 for being more exciting. At the hands of The Stig, the car sets the fastest time at 1:19.0 beating the Carrera GT at the Test Track.
    • James May used one in Season 6 Episode 11 to compose the Top Gear theme with actual engine noises. It went as expected.
    • Later on in Season 13 Episode 1, the FXX graced the Test Track and set a record 1:10.7 lap time. Coincidentally, it was also the episode where Michael Schumacher was "revealed" as The Stig...Explanation Which was later dismissed in the following episode, along with the FXX's time being removed from the lap board for not being road-legal.
Video Games
  • Asphalt: Both the Enzo and FXX are commonly featured as one of the coolest of the cool cars of Ferrari.
  • In Burnout Dominator, the Euro Super bares a strong resemblance to the Enzo and FXX mashed up.
  • FlatOut 3: Chaos & Destruction has the Pavenzo V12, an Enzo Ferrari Expy with touches from a Pagani Zonda. Despite claiming it's a "V12", it doesn't actually sound like one.
  • The Enzo Ferrari is featured in all the Forza titles, with the FXX being in a selected few.
  • The PSP version Gran Turismo, marks the debut of this beautiful exotic which would later appear in all of its subsequent games. The FXX on the other hand only appears in 6.
  • The FXX in GRiD and Grid Legends appears as a Track Day class car.
  • Need for Speed:
  • OutRun 2 features the Enzo Ferrari and is considered to be one of the best and competitive Ferraris ever offered, along with the F40 and the Testarossa. In 2006: Coast to Coast, the OutRun version becomes a roofless barchetta, something Ferrari in Real Life has never done and would never do to an Enzo. The developers of the game, Sumo Digital would lampshade this in an article.
Darren Mills: Those were works of art, they were really nice. Ferrari were very strict: those rear lights had to be absolutely perfect. But we were allowed to create our own bespoke Ferraris on Coast 2 Coast. We’re the only company, still, that’s been allowed to do an Enzo Roadster. There isn’t an Enzo Roadster.
  • Becomes prominent in Project Gotham Racing 2, serving as the game's cover car. It appears later in its subsequent games, alongside the FXX.
  • The Soldat Raggio in Ridge Racer bears a strong resemblance to the Enzo.
    • There is also the Zihua Archangel from the 2011 Play Station Vita exclusive game, which resembles the FXX.
  • Appears in both Test Drive Unlimited games as one of the most powerful Ferraris ever offered. The sequel includes the FXX Evoluzione as well.
  • The Crimson Fury in Twisted Metal: Head On resembles the Enzo Ferrari, a Weaponized Car fitted with carbon bumpers and miniguns. All speed, no armor.

    Ferrari F40
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ferrari_f40.jpg

"I love the design of the F40. It's got great shapes and it's a real icon. It was the last turbo Ferrari produced until the California T in 2014. I like the form of the older supercars. Plus it was the last car to be made while Enzo Ferrari was alive."
Sebastian Vettel, four-time Formula One champion

In 1987, to celebrate Ferrari's 40th anniversary, note  they announced a very special "street-legal racing sports car"; The Ferrari F40.

Designed by the late Nicola Materazzi (who also designed its predecessor, the 288 GTO), it was at its time the fastest, most powerful and the most expensive Ferrari for sale, with a six-figure price tag. The F40 a fully recognizable as the last Ferrari car to be ever personally approved by Enzo Ferrari himself before his passing in 1988.

The body was entirely designed by Pininfarina with components and panels made from Kevlar, carbon fibre and aluminum, ensuring the car's body rigidity, minimal weight and aerodynamics. Under the hood comes 417-hp twin-turbocharged Tipo F120A V-8, capable of reaching nearly 200 mph, the first ever production car to ever do so. All of the F40s were only offered in one color, which would be in Rosso Corsa.

While the F40 seized production in 1992 with over 1,300 units produced, its racing program continued its way until 1996, with the F40 LM saw competition in the IMSA, driven by former F1 driver Jean Alesi.

Film — Live Action

  • The Dolph Lundgren movie Army of One (aka Joshua Tree) features a lengthy chase between Santee's stolen Ferrari F40 and Severance's Lamborghini Countach. Of course both of the cars are crude fake ones since they are Pontiac Fieros kit cars disguised as its respective models. After all, who would destroy or wreck a beautiful car that costs over $400,000?!

Music

  • The cover of the single "Chemical World" by Blur features a Ferrari F40 (and a horse) sitting on the Manhattan skyline with the view of the Brookyln Bridge.
  • The music video "Cosmic Girl" by Jamiroquai is perhaps one of the most recognisable depiction where the Ferrari F40 plays a major part, as in the video, it races the other two supercars note  down the highways and mountainous roads. And fact the driver behind the said F40 is the drummer Nick Mason.

Video Games

  • Robert Garcia's Home Stage, the Garcia House in Art of Fighting 2 features a beautiful fountain that changes colors and Robert's beloved sports car in the background, a red Ferrari F40. • Appears in every Forza game, be it whether Motorsport or Horizon. Not only you get just the F40, you also get the almighty powerhouse, the F40 Competizione. And it's so powerful, so extreme that it even got a LEGO toy car variant of the Competizione in Horizon 4.
  • The F40 is one of the most notable Ferraris in Gran Turismo, especially its debut in 5: Prologue. In 5 it's obtainable as a prize car for completing La Festa Cavallino in B-Spec mode. • The Turismo in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is based on the Ferrari F40, as is the Turismo Classic in Grand Theft Auto Online.
  • Initially made it first mark in Need for Speed Rivals via Ferrari Edizioni Speciali Pack, available to both racers and the RCPD.

Its overboost acts as your Nitro Boost and you plow through every major US city, whilst escaping the cops and beat your rival who is after your girlfriend. The F40 also made a comeback in OutRun Europa.
    • OutRun 2 fully licensed the F40 and is considered to be everybody's everycar due to its high stats. In 2006: Coast 2 Coast the OutRun version recreated the roofless one from Turbo OutRun in the style of an F40 LM Barchetta one-off.
  • The race-ready F40 GTE in both SCUD Race and Le Mans 24. The former being a balanced normal level car and the latter being an easy to drive car. Good luck trying to reach the Top 5 with that.
  • The Ferrari F40 appears in The Duel: Test Drive II as one of the two playable vehicles of the game's initial release. The other being the Porsche 959.

The Formula One car for the road.

"Ferrari calls the F50 the "Formula One car for the road." Known for its explosive acceleration (and for being easy to stall under 4,000 rpm), the F50's handling traits include zero body roll in corners and exceptional overall balance. Looking for a Ferrari with which to powerslide in style? F50 is for you."
Gotham Sport Comment, Project Gotham Racing 3 & 4

The F50 is a mid-engine targa-top supercar introduced in 1995, intended to succeed the F40 in time for Ferrari's golden anniversary.

The development of this car was an evolution of the 1989 Ferrari Mythos concept car. Unlike previous previous predecessors, the F50 utilizes a naturally aspirated- Tipo F130B V12 engine used in the 1990 Ferrari 641 Formula One car, powering up to 512 horsepower. This idea was brought up by Piero Ferrari (Enzo Ferrari's second son). The F50 uses a 6-speed manual transmition, and with its tops speed of 325 km/h, it exceeded the performance of the F40, which was their earlier magnum opus back in 1987.

Its racing derivative, the F50 GT was intended to compete in the BPR Global GT Series in 1996, however the series was abruptly folded, resulting in Ferrari to abort the project.

Production only lasted for 2 years, with only 349 units produced.

MusicVideo Games
  • Driving Emotion Type-S feature this rare Ferrari (alongside the 360 Modena) in a game full of Japanese cars.
  • Just like the F40, the F50 appears in every single Forza game, no matter if it's Horizon or Motorsport. Not impressed? Then say hello to the god almighty F50 GT.
  • The car many players would see in the game cover, app, start screen in Horizon Chase is none other than the Cruiser, based on the Ferrari F50 with some ends of a Saleen S7. This red hot Cool Car is one of the starter cars available in the beginning, and it is indeed... a car for a nice ride at the beach.
  • The first time the F50 showed up is in Need for Speed II. Featured as the game's cover art car. Already available at the start, it's notable for being the Jack of All Stats amongst other cars. For the remainder of the Classic Era, you'll be happy to spot this rare playable legend in High Stakes Hot Pursuit 2.
  • The F50 showed up in OutRun 2 a one of the most popularly used cars in the game. For some reason, the car in 2006: Coast 2 Coast is placed in Intermediate A class, and has inferior top speed than the F40.
  • The F50 appears as the game's cover car of the first Project Gotham Racing game, and by far the best of the best car you'd dare to try on. If you though this car is the best of all cars in the lineup, then just you wait until you meet... the godlike F50 GT in 3. It's acceleration is unforgivingly lightning-quick, nimble enough to take corners like The Flash and it drifts well enough you get a shit-ton of Kudos, fast! It's ultimately extreme, that the game's main page references this extreme track toy... a lot.

    Ferrari Testarossa and later variants

The car that made The '80s roar.

"Why beat a real Ferrari to death with power slides and 180s, or mar its flawless skin with camera mounts for tight driver shots, when a stand-in stunt car could do the job quite nicely?"
Carl Roberts, who offered to built stunt cars for Miami Vice

No, we're not talking about that Testarossa.

Succeeding the 512 BB, the Testarossa is one of Pininfarina's penned masterpieces, thanks to its vivid design. Its typical flat-12 engine with components from F1 technology allowed this midship to produce 384 horsepower and 361.6 ft-lb of torque, allowing the Testarossa to reach 290 km/h.

Later iterations of the Testarossa were also included such as the revised 512 TR and the F512 M, which had its popup headlights replaced with fixed ones.

The popularity of the Testarossa led to many numerous features of that time, such as being the featured cover of car magazine, Road & Track nine times in just 5 years, as well as famous celebrities well-known to owning this car, such as Elton John, Mike Tyson and Dr. Dre.

Oh, and Testarossa means "Red head" in Italian, which can be a Call Back of the 250 Testa Rossa in 1957.

This would be an Author Avatar as Michiharu once-owned a Testarossa in Real Life. However in Maximum Tune, since Ferrari wouldn't allow their cars to appear in illegal street racing or having equipped aftermarket parts at that time, Ishida jumped into different vehicles, such as the Corvette C6 ZR1 or even the Lamborghini Aventador.
