Meet Jermaine Lécuyer. He never understood the appleal of cars... until now.
Red 348 was a webcomic by Ruairidh MacVeigh, the same writer/artist who gave us the Maddie series and Outsiders, though this comic is not related to those as far as anyone knows. It's narrated by the protagonist Jermaine Lécuyer, a student who doesn't get the appeal of cars, but is suddenly put in an unexpected situation when he receives a Ferrari 348 GTB for his 18th birthday. The story mainly follows his adventures owning the eponymous car while also trying to live a normal life.

This comic has since been deleted.

Tropes present include:

  • Author Appeal: Oh so very much. Anyone familiar with MacVeigh's work knows he's very into cars, and while he has done some great car artwork on his website and in his other comics, here they are the main focus. In fact, some may argue that it's too much in the way of Author Appeal, as the narrative seems to take a backseat to the featured car.
  • Berserk Button: Jermaine isn't a fan of a lot of people around his age due to a lot of them partaking in what he refers to as the "four deadly sins:"
    • 1. Clubbing until 4AM before passing out in a puddle of whatever you were dring in the middle of the street.
    • 2. Sitting around in front of the TV all day watching "overpaid knuckle draggers" (soccer players) kick a pig-skin between two white posts.
    • 3. Constantly staring at the female backside in the hope that one day their clothes may suddenly disappear.
    • 4. The hopeless desire to own expensive, impractical, and impossible cars.
  • Character Narrator: Jermaine Lécuyer, the protagonist, is also the narrator. In fact, his narration is the only dialogue in the story.
  • Coming of Age Story: The entire reason Jermaine has the Ferrari is because he got it for his 18th birthday. By that logic, learning how to care for it symbolizes his becoming a man.
