• Acclaimed Flop: Ubisoft released a statement saying ZombiU has bombed despite positive reception from many critics and fans alike. It will not get a sequel and the bombing caused the delay for a multi-platform release of Rayman Legends to make up the loss.
• Creator-Driven Successor: The final game is an unintentional remake of Zombi, due to both sharing a developer, Ubisoft.
• What Could Have Been: The earliest idea for this game was to be an adult-oriented spin-off of Ubi's own Raving Rabbids series for the PS3 and Xbox 360. When development switched to the Wii U, it was then renamed "Killer Freaks From Outer Space," and was to be a tongue-in-cheek action comedy/fast paced FPS where the protagonist was a foul mouthed Englishman fighting aliens (which still looked a lot like freaky versions of the Rabbids) that invaded London. Footage of this build was shown off at E3 2011. As per Word of God, the reason it was changed from a fast-paced shooter to a slower paced survival horror game is that the original idea would have made using the Game Pad in the heat of battle too much of a distraction, so slowing things down resolved that while still keeping things tense by not pausing the on-screen action. The original "Killer Rabbids/Freaks From Outer Space" idea is referenced in the supermarket area. Stuffed animals of the enemies from the original idea are found on some of the store shelves.
