Trivia / The Bureau of Magical Things

  • Dawson Casting: Kyra and her human friends are high school students, and her magical schoolmates are implicitly in the same age range. Indeed, most of the teenage cast started out in their late-teens, however, over half of them ended as twenty-somethings keeping in mind there is well over three years between the start of filming season 1 (May 2017) and wrapping up of season 2 (September 2020).
    • Not that you would know by looking, but Kimie Tsukakoshi (Kyra) was born on 15 May 1989, and so was 28 to 31! Very much a case of Older Than They Look, Tsukakoshi's first appearance was a one-off role in H₂O: Just Add Water back in 2009, and she appears hardly any older here.
    • Mia Milnes (Lily) was born on 5 August 1996, and so was 20 to 24.
    • Elizabeth Cullen (Imogen) was born on 31 August 1997, and so was 19 to 23.
    • Julian Cullen (Darra) was born on 14 June 1998, and so was 18 to 22.
    • Rainbow Wedell (Ruksy) was born on 10 April 2001, and so was 16 to 19. Ruksy is also acknowledged in-universe as being the youngest of Maxwell's class.
    • Jamie Carter (Peter) was born on 25 May 1999, and so was 17 to 21.
    • Season 2 newcomer Miah Madden (Tayla) was born on 9 April 2001, and so was 18 to 19.
  • The Danza: Kyra's father, Steve, is portrayed by Steve Nation.
  • Prop Recycling: The mermaid costume used in Imogen's Forced Transformation in "Party Time" is reused from Jonathan M. Shiff's previous mermaid-themed productions; H₂O: Just Add Water and Mako Island Of Secrets. Visually, it uses the paler color palette as seen in the latter, though the tail and bikini top were given adjustments to better fit Elizabeth Cullen.
  • Real-Life Relative: Elizabeth and Julian Cullen are actual siblings. They claim they didn't intend to play a brother-sister pair, but that it "just sort of happened".
