Kyra Glen
Species: Tri-ling (Human + Fairy & Elf)
A teenage girl whose life is changed after an encounter with a magic book transforms her into a tri-ling, part-human, part-fairy, and part-elf. While wary of her new circumstances, she is learning to accept her newfound reality.- Expy: As the main character who suddenly found herself in a magical world where she has more power than her peers, has the elders concerned, and finds partway through the second season that she has a non-human parent responsible for her powers, she's one to Zac.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Touching the book with the Orb of Lemuria hidden inside while it was being blasted with Imogen's elf magic and Lily's fairy magic made her into a Tri-Ling. Or perhaps, she always was.
- Story-Breaker Power: Her Orb magic gives her powers beyond what the others are capable of, the drawback being that she has little control over it.
Imogen Blackwell
Species: Elf
An elf training to become a member of the Department of Magical Intervention (DMI). While serious about her training, she does not believe in teamwork and is very wary of Kyra, though is starting to soften to her.- Ambiguously Gay: Her relationship with Tayla begins rocky, but ends with Imogen abandoning her dream of getting into the DMI to go to art school with her and getting into playful face-painting fights.
- Cynic–Idealist Duo: The cynic to Lily's idealist.
- Expy: As the aggressive, impatient, and unfriendly member of the cast with a low opinion of people she doesn't know, she's one to Ondina.
Lily Reegan
Species: Fairy
A fairy training to become a member of the DMI. She is a friendly and bubbly person, who quickly warms up to Kyra.- Cynic–Idealist Duo: The idealist to Imogen's cynic.
- Expy: As the bubbly, naïve, and friendly member of the cast who can be vicious when pressed, she's one to Sirena.
Darra Blackwell
Species: Elf
An elf training to become a member of the DMI and Imogen's brother. Unlike his sister, he is more friendly to others and not as enthusiastic in his studies.- Book Dumb: He's not the best at his studies, but he is an expert at the stuff he does know.
Ruksy Tevala
Played by Rainbow Wedell
Species: Fairy
A fairy training to become a member of the DMI. While friendly like Lily, she is much more serious.- The Smart Guy: She's the one who can be counted on to recite rules and textbook knowledge.
Peter Nash
Species: Human
Kyra's friend. He loves comics and is very suspicious of the magical phenomenon around.- Expy: As the nerdy guy who likes science and becomes the cast's go-to Muggle Best Friend, he's one to Lewis.
- Token Human: Among the main cast, he's the only normal human with no magical powers (though he can still use magical artifacts). He admits as much to Mathilda.
Professor Maxwell
Species: Halfling (Human/Elf)
A bookstore owner and teacher of magic for the DMI. He trains his students to master their magic powers. He is a half-ling, half-human, and half-elf. He cares greatly for his students and wants them to reach their full potential.- Half-Human Hybrid: The result of a human/elf romance.
- Magic Librarian: He owns the magical library where classes take place. It's hidden in a mundane-looking bookstore.
- The Mentor: It's his job to teach the kids how to do magic, which he's great at.
Tayla Devlin
Played by Miah Madden
Species: Halfling (Human/Fairy)
A girl who works at the local café, secretly a human-fairy hybrid who likes to paint magical graffiti.- Half-Human Hybrid: Fairy father and a human mother.
- Half-Breed Discrimination: A victim of it. Humans would be afraid of her, and the fae half of her family tree aren't too keen on accepting her existence.
Mathilda Brennan
Played by Arnijka Larcombe-Weate
Species: Human
Kyra's best friend and fellow basketball player who doesn't know of Kyra's magical powers.- Laser-Guided Amnesia: In the same episode that she ends up getting into Kyra's secret, she handles it poorly and gets mind-wiped by the end.
- Unwitting Muggle Friend: She's unaware of why Kyra keeps distancing from her and skipping basketball practice.
Steve Glen

Species: Human
Kyra's stepfather and local police officer, who is also unaware of Kyra's powers. Orla Maguire

Species: Elf
An elf who's one of the DMI's top agents and Imogen's idol who poses as a reporter. She is an old acquaintance of Maxwell's and apparently has her own agenda involving Kyra.- Big Bad: Of the first season.
- Kent Brockman News: Her day job is going undercover as a newscaster and giving pseudo-realistic explanations for all the magical accidents humans notice in River City.
- Might Makes Right: A firm believer of this, which is why she wants the Orb. Once she does, she wastes no time flexing her magical power around to make everyone submit to her.
- Super Supremacist: She wants to rule over humans as a magical empress. And given her snide comments about fairies, she's highly likely to make elves into the master race ruling over all.
