- Box Office Bomb: Made only $5,958,456 at the box office. Hasbro would never reveal its budget but losses from this film and The Transformers: The Movie are estimated at $10 million combined. The failure of both ultimately resulted in G.I. Joe: The Movie going straight to home video.
- Celebrity Voice Actor: The movie features the voices of Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, and Tony Randall.
- Creator Couple: Husband-and-wife actors Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman voice the Grundle King and Reeka, respectively.
- International Coproduction: On the animation front, at least. As the film was animated by both of Sunbow Entertainment's regular contractors: Toei Animation and AKOMnote . At the time of it's release, it held the record for shortest production on an animated feature at only six weeks, beating Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer’s three month record.
- Irony as She Is Cast: After hearing the part of "I'll Go It Alone" where Baby Lickety Split and Spike start trying to sing high notes but just come off as screaming, most people have assumed that Baby Lickety Split has no hope in the music business. In real life, her voice actress, the late Alice Playten (probably better known as Beebe Bluff in Doug), did work on Broadway and actually had something of a nice voice.
- Keep Circulating the Tapes: The film was formerly available on DVD and streaming, but all options have expired as of today.
- Vindicated by Cable: Flopped at the box office but made a strong showing through home video sales.
- What Could Have Been: Buzz Dixon's "punch up" of the film's script would've involved one of the Little Ponies encountering Shipwreck and Optimus Prime.
- It should be said that this would have been a little confusing to the target audience the first time they saw the film... and totally awesome upon rewatching it as an adult.
- As for why the scenes were cut...well, considering the aforementioned G.I. Joe scene involved a drunk Shipwreck seeing one of the ponies while drinking, before proceeding to smash his whiskey bottle and start praying to himself, it's no wonder Hasbro refused. Their exact response? "Very funny... no".
