Trivia / Lore Olympus

Go To

  • Adored by the Network: It's the flagship series of Webtoons and gets the most advertisements, with the site even hiring Sydney Sweeney to star in a commercial for it.
  • Development Hell: In October 2019, the Jim Henson Company announced they were producing an animated adaptation of Lore Olympus but nothing has been heard of it since.
  • Dueling Works: With Punderworld since both are based on the story of Hades and Persephone and featured on Webtoons.
  • Follow the Leader: The comic's success has led to an increase of comics featured on Webtoons that are based around the romances of mythological beings, many of which are set in a modern environment. Some examples include Punderworld, Planetarium and Loki, Lord of Chaos.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The original pilot pages from when the comic was in the Discover category of Webtoon. Smythe had to delete them and restart the series in a higher art quality in order for the comic to be allowed into the Featured category. While the entirety of the original comic is not available online, Smythe has "leaked" many of the pages and has not ruled out the possibility to re-releasing them all sometime in the future.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The twelfth episode of the story was going to be about Hades and Minthe visiting Hera on her birthday and she would receive a vision of Hades and Persephone's future wedding. It was removed due to Smythe and her editor deciding that the first chapter that centered on Hera shouldn't have her focused on Hades. The episode was included as bonus chapter in the comic's first volume release.
    • The second volume included an bonus chapter about Apollo visiting Hestia to inform her of Persephone hanging out with Hades and encouraging her to be more strict, explaining why she was so uptight towards Persephone when she visited her. Smythe didn't produce the chapter for the online comic because she couldn't figure out a good time and place in the ongoing story to insert it and because she felt like the story worked better with Hestia simply being standoffish towards Persephone on her own accord.
    • Bonus material included in the fourth volume revealed that Charon and Styx were going to be introduced into the cast in the thirty-third episode but their appearance was scrapped out of fear that the cast was bloating too quickly.
    • There was originally going to a major love triangle where Ares and Hades would both compete for Persephone's affection but Smythe decided to have Hades and Persephone be in true love from the beginning. This is seemingly the cause for why Ares and Persephone were close prior to her going to Olympus and for the abandoned plot of Ares wanting to get together with Persephone for her fertility goddess powers.
