  • Author's Saving Throw: In the base game, one line of dialogue said by KK in the English localization received criticism for shoehorning in a political statement when there was no trace of such in Japanese.Explanation  When the Spider's Thread update was released a year later, the line was rewritten and re-dubbed so that it's more faithful to the original.
  • Swan Song: This is the last game to be published by Bethesda Softworks as an independent entity. The company had been acquired by Microsoft the previous year, with their publishing duties transferring to Xbox Game Studios. This game and Deathloop remained under Bethesda as holdovers due to contractual obligations with Sony.
  • What Could Have Been: The game was originally planned to be the third installment of The Evil Within before being reimagined as its own title.
